  • How Tai Chi Changes Us: This Tai Chi video discusses how the martial arts of Tai Chi, Tai Chi Chuan, qigong and TaiJi (all the same thing except Qigong) transforms us mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. It explains how Tai Chi's flowing movements relax the body and change our chemistry to give us more options to respond to challenges with grace and ease instead of just the fight or flight response or with anxiety.
Susan Thompson Tai Chi reflects on how 10 years ago she would have struggled with a very difficult situation, but with her kung fu inspired Tai Chi practice she handled it skillfully in the moment by reducing her stress response. She credits the art for rewiring her nervous system so she has a bigger repertoire of responses.
    Additional topics covered include:
    - Learning about ourselves through kind, non-judgmental movement
    - Reducing negative self-talk
    - Increasing body awareness and fascial release for better posture
    - Boosting confidence and reducing self-blame
    - Going beyond pain relief and improved balance into deeper personal transformation
Physical manifestations of internal changes from practicing Tai Chi and Qigong
    - Increased Qi flow through the body which promotes natural healing
    - Experiencing ongoing progress in your kung fu, tai chi and qigong practice
This motivational talk explains both the tangible and intangible benefits of committed Tai Chi and Qigong practice for positive self-growth and reduced anxiety and stress.

This is about what is often called "the Proximity affect". Susan teaches me. I am grateful.

Thank you so much for your kind and supportive comment. One of my students says if everyone did Tai Chi we'd have a different and better world! She's 92. ☺️

Thank you for a beautiful explanation.
I am young on the path, did Tai Chi in my twenties, and coming back in my fifties.
I train everyday, outside in idilicc settings.
I can feel my body, and mind yielding to the practice. Each day is different, but I am thankful for it.
Thank you greatly for your insights, and art.

Thank you - well said and it helps to be reminded every now and then that there is so much more than the physical benefits of tai chi and qigong.
You do good work. All the best/ Marty

Thank you Susan, that was so beautifully said and outwardly emotional. Tai Chi tapped into your inner strength that as always been there from birth ,you only realize this when you are challenge with what life throws at you. Some people are chosen to walk the path of faith and you are one of those chosen. May you always have light to guide you to people's hearts.
    God Bless you Susan.

Hi susan, can totally relate to the changes felt through life practising tai chi. I taught my children in a time when it wasn't taught for their emotional well being. The results from teaching them this was an increase in their grades at school and alot more laughter., which is always good. Susan have you released a book ? And if so could I download it from your website? Keep up the podcasts they are always inspirational. Jan😊❤

Also, susan, may I ask, you mentioned that you have 7 herniated disc in your spine. Do you know if they have healed or is your health suppported by the practice of tai chi? I did a Joe dispenza seminar down here in Australia to, some years ago, but I can honestly say for me it's always tai chi that's more beneficial. JAN😊

Jan, what a gift you have given your children by giving them Tai Chi early on. More laughter, improved grades...WOW! What a fantastic outcome.
I have written a book several years ago, but it was before Tai Chi. I believe my thoughts and ways have changed enough that some of the things I wrote I would no longer agree with...lol. I should start working on putting together my next book version...I have a good title in mind so that is a start. ☺️
As far as the herniated discs, I would imagine imagine would show the herniations still there. It is just that I have no pain or limitations from them. Doctor s are completely shocked when they see my MRI. I also dove deeply into Dispenza's work. However, my herniated discs stopped causing problems after I began Tai Chi. I did recover from some visual issues with Dispenza's work and meditations. When I have a flare up, I use the Dr. Joe meditation to reset my visual system. He is coming here in April, but I find his more recent work to be too distracting for me. I'll keep with his older meditations, my Qigong, Standing Meditation and Tai Chi. I do get an awful lot of improvements from Standing Meditation.
Thanks for watching commenting and sharing, Jan!

Thank you for sharing Susan. I,ve always found tai chi gives me the mental balance and calmness , then everything flows from thaI taug my 90 something mother tai chi when she was stressed, and would ask her, do you feel now? Her response was always Calm. The next challenge is teaching our grandchildren who are on the spectrum. I'm sure tai chi will be very beneficial but getting them to do it is another story. JAN😊❤

You are bringing Tai Chi to all generations of your family! Dealing with children on the spectrum is a huge challenge. Their motivational system is completely different than anything we can relate to. I worked with children with Autism for 15 years. It was tough. So I do understand and my heart goes out to you. I hope Tai Chi will help. Thank you for sharing. I admire you for being so totally committed to sharing Tai Chi!
