  • Hi & Welcome at my Channel ;)
    Here i show you how its posibel to Reball a PS3 Chip without a Reaballing BGA Station ;)
    This PS3 had a YLOD because 2 contacts was touching each other, so thei was togetter, thats why i have need to take all the Chip out and Reball it from new...

    Nice work. I'm about to try your method to replace the NAND chip on my CECHC02 PS3 BD controller board. It's shot, so I'm getting another and swapping the NAND as It's on 4.80 firmware so can't be downgraded to simply remarry a new board. There's a lot less balls to melt so it will hopefully go well. Thanks for sharing your experiences in repairing these things.

    Is the temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius? If Celsius, how do you prevent it from burning the chip?

  • @RainWalker24c

    On old phat models(cecha01 specifically), can cold solder ball joints in the southbridge(same chip you worked on in the vid) cause GLOD where their is no video/audio, no HDD/Internet led activity, & no power to usb ports? I hear HDD though. I can run the thing for hours no problem, will not go into RLOD/YLOD.
    I tried the noob method of course, holding down power for vid reset etc etc. It just beeps once & shutsdown when trying.

    Awesome work!!!! Love your tutorials videos. At the beginning of this video, you said that you will post an advanced tutorial. Were you or are you able to post an advanced video of how you start the process of reballing starting with removing of old and replace with new with specific tools? I have an old 60 gig FAT PS3 and got this wonderful YLOD. I followed other tutorials online with just "reflowing" with heatgun and re-apply the thermal paste. I did this twice and i am thinking of doing a complete reballing from scratch. Thanks again and keep doing the great work!

    • @NSC-Modz
      @NSC-Modz  Před 10 lety

      Thank you ;)
      The thing is, you will not be able to change just the scratched "CPU", because you always need the 3 important Chips that are always working togetter.
      This are, the CPU, the Nor Bios Chip and the Syscon Chip...
      If you just replace one of them, then it will NOT work! = Black Screen
      And its also very hard to get the CPU or RSX reballed with a Heatgun xD
      You will need a lot practice to, and if you dont take care, it will bend your PCB also.
      But as i have more time, i will do the Advanced Video for you guys ;)
      Regards

    • @FFXITermi
      @FFXITermi Před 10 lety

      UltraNSC Oh i'm sorry. I think there is a misunderstanding. I meant only the "reballing" portion. Removing of old solder balls and replacing with new with same chip. Are you saying that i have to change all 3 chips and their' solder balls as well? - Thanks again for your time!

    • @NSC-Modz
      @NSC-Modz  Před 10 lety

      ohh yes, sry also ^^
      Ok, yes, then you just need to replace the old to new solding balls and then you can do the reballing, but like i told, take care, the PCB will bend, and you Need a great heat gun just "if" you gona do it with a heat gun...
      but dont Forget, it´s VERY dificult ^^

  • @MrBlunt419_
    @MrBlunt419_ Před 2 lety +1

    Hey NSC, so are you saying you would or would not recommend using a hot air gun to ro reball the 2 main chips (GPU and CPU)? In the comments you said they're too big and need a real station, but in another comment you say you can do it with a good gun?

    • @NSC-Modz
      @NSC-Modz  Před 2 lety

      Right, you will need a lot skills to do that and you will need to get hat also under the board, otherwise the board will bend to much.

  • @mdawg252
    @mdawg252 Před 8 lety +1

    While this worked, it might not work a second or third time... a preheater is almost essential when working with these boards, as you run the risk of damaging the chip without one. This is because the preheater helps melt the solder from the bottom so that the top doesn't need to get as hot to melt the solder and maybe ruin the chip.

    FOR YOUR INFO GUYS I DID REFLOW A BIG CHIP IN A PS3 SLIM AND I'M NOT LYING. I did not even change the solder balls. The ps3 only showed HDMI with no screen and stay on with nothing. I did reflow all balls chip at 390-400 degrees even near of the chip till i see smoke and then i quickly stop reflow. I know you're gonna laugh but it's a feeling in the arm and hand and experience. I know it does sound crazy. I did not beleive it myself but when i saw the ps3 work and image and sound again, i was so suprised ans happy. It's been 2 weeks it still work. By the way i know it is not the right way to do it but with A LOT OF EXPERIENCE AND TOUCH, it's possible but it still 50/50, 50% of chance, even 30 or say 40% chance but the thing is it's been twice i make it good so practice, practice, practice and precision and lot's of feeling. By the way, also skills, i'm a 30 years experience diploma electronic tech. Remember, 30-40-50% chance if EXPERIENCE AND VERY CAREFULL AND FEELING AND PRECISION. You know NSC what i'm talking about. @NSC-Modz  Před 8 lety

      Jo ^^ Manche schätzen es aber nicht :\
      Also die CELL CPU´s haben alle eine ewige lange Nummer "Keys" diese Nummer sind in der CPU gespeichert, wenn da jetzt ein Syscon und ein Nor/Nand Chip mit andern Nummer arbeiten, dann wird die PS3 zwar an gehen, wirst aber kein Bild haben, weil diese Keys nicht über einstimmen! Wenn du ne CPU wechseln willst, dann musst du den Syscon und auch den Nor/Nand chip mit Wechseln, ansonsten geht es nicht.
      Oder nen Backup ziehen vom Nor/Nand, und dann brauchst du nur noch 2 Chips verlöten.
      Ob sich das alles aber lohnt, ist ne andere frage, wenn du mich frägst dann lautet die Antwort: N E I N ^^

      @ShaDoWxGFX Před 10 lety

      UltraNSC I tried a Low reflow but still same symptoms. It has 2 second YLOD. Before I opened the console up it had 6 second YLOD and I could do a video reset and then it would YLOD but if I kept persisting to turn it on then after a while it would actually boot up into the menus, but only last a couple minutes. I managed to check the firmware and it was running version 3.21. After that I reflowed it and now it had 2 second YLOD. Do you reckon If I took it to get Reballed it would fix the problem? Then I can install CFW on it and install APK fan mod to monitor the temperatures. I also tried a different power supply, and tried without anything but power plugged in but it makes no difference.
