Amazing to me that my last Hamster was called Hammy and the naming of him actually had nothing to do with Tales Of The Riverbank. In fact, I don't think any of my family had even heard of the show back then. As for the show itself, this production style is amazing. Real animals were made to do humanoid things even though they were not anthropomorphic and somehow it ended up looking exceptionally convincing. Computers certainly have their benefits and visual advantages over filming real footage, but in my mind, nothing will ever beat doing stuff for real. I'm glad you've brought this video series back. It's so interesting to see someone else's breakdowns of obscure media that barely got any notice in the first place. Keep it up legend.

Me after seeing the very beginning of the video: 😡 YOU MONSTER!! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DO THIS?! THAT EGG WAS 😭 YOUNG!!! Me seeing the rest of the video: 😇 Aww… now this is certainly a bunch, of a cute lot of animals! I can’t say anything bad about it, it’s so delightful! That and I just really enjoy it… 😮 Wait… Johnny Moris?! 😃 Oh my goodness! That’s amazing! I never knew he did this at all! I’m glad no one’s getting murdered for once… but it was a close shave! I can see what you mean though, as the plane could have easily crushed the animals if it really was done, which I‘m glad it wasn’t, because it wouldn’t have been good… Consistency isn’t always the case… The Adventure Begins is an example, due to Thomas, with some trucks, going really fast, around a sharper bend, yet not falling off, while James, also with some trucks, goes round a less sharp bend, at a slightly slower speed, and yet he falls off… I don’t know why either… Johnny Morris returning for the sequel series, is great to have! And yes, I still find it very entertaining, even though I never watched the series back in the day… I‘m surprised that firearms were allowed to be used back then in childrens shows… and yes, your reaction definitely shows… It’s great to have you back for this series too, especially in April! And what a way to start too! Sometimes, the simplest is the best, this is definitely the case right here, especially for a classic children‘s show! It would be cool for you to cover the Fireman Sam tapes, if possible, since the first season did broadcast in 1987. Well, see you later mate! 😊
I had the Further Tales of the Riverbank tape as a kid and I enjoyed it a lot, and I then got the 1960’s series on video and I also enjoyed that. Much like with Fireball XL5, compared to Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet, I never minded the fact it was black and white compare to its successors, I just enjoyed how good the stories were, and found it mesmerising And glad to see you’re OK James. Keep doing videos you enjoy.
So here’s a fun bit of trivia about this show in both iterations though near every character was written as male the actual animals are all female as it was easier to train and monitor them

They compare Henry to Peter who is more well behaved, they get easily pissed off at him for watching TV, they blackmail him; hell, Henry EXPLICITLY calls out his dad for forcing him to bring celery and carrots on his field trip under threat of denying him said field trip! The punishments they give Henry for understandably being “horrid”, can come across as overkill.
You know James a Williams since you don’t know what video tape or dvd to review next why not review the three Barney the dinosaur video tapes and I know it’ll take ages to finish and upload but it’s just an idea so yeah hope it works for you!
30:00 I guess it never really occurred to me that CITV shows had the balls to show questionable content that you would expect for at least a teenage audience such as the concept of WAR, POISON, DROWNING, EXPLOSIONS, DEATHS AND FAKEOUTS, ABUSIVE FAMILIES, BIG TITS WITH CLEAVAGES, and… THE TITANIC. Tugs, Horrid Henry and the Mr. Bean Animated Series are notorious for such content.
