My personal favorite small moment of this episode was Larys pushing Cristin to speak up against Alicent in the council meeting- to further cause tension between them. I laughed out loud because that man is definition of messy and petty.

I didn’t interpret Sunfyre being “long in the dying” as dead but rather, close to death, actively dying. It makes sense that they think he won’t survive, but it doesn’t mean they’re right.

The showrunners really fumbled the ball as his campaign in the riverlands solidified his military prowess. They diminished on of the more intriguing characters for 50/50 storytelling.
Hell the fact that he just wanted his brother to rely on him & Corlys in season 1, instead of sucking up praise from parasites like Otto.
Was a critical point for his character as he literally self exiled himself from it all.

The family had three children who loved him very much. They washed him up and he spent the rest of his life eating meat scraps from the table and fresh milk from the cows and he was happy.

Aegon is one of the biggest victims in the dance. People comparing him to Joffrey is crazy to me. The added scene of him trying to run away before being crowned was pretty clear, he didn't want any of this shit, he is used, tortured, burned, his unique dragon is forced to fight a bigger one and suffers horrible, his sons are killed, he has to live on milk of the puppy for the constant pains just to be poisoned at the end after losing everything.

That was not Cole's misjudgment in my opinion, people has seen or hear of dragons dying before, they saw balerion and meraxes skulls and knew about Aegon the uncrown. The reason smallfolk didn't care or take it as a bad omen was because they are starving. Is pretty common for people not to cheer when you oppress them and spend a ridiculous amount of money on irrelevant things, like a pointless war, just to parade in from of them.
I think you misunderstood, or I did. Cole didn't say Sunfyre was dead.

Cole wouldn't know if he died because he left. I take it as he was close to death, but still alive for now (as per books).

Alyssa died when Daemon was three years old, so whilst he has memories of her, he never got to know her properly.
I believe the screams were heard of her giving birth to her son Aegon, which is how she supposedly died (although many believe she was poisoned by the Masetors).
At 3, you really don't have any memories. He has no meaningful memory of her.

I remember the face of my nursery workers who looked after me when I was 3 years old and I've not seen them since I was 3 years old.
I have extremely vivid memories of my second birthday, it's burned into my brain very strongly. Things like the faces of dead relatives who I didn't see photographs of until 20 years later, and over hearing conversations that I couldn't put any context to at the time. Strange that I remember my infancy very clearly but can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning! haha

I wouldn’t take the stuff characters ASSUME as given facts… so when Cole assumes Sunfyre‘s death, I wouldn‘t trust that! It mirrors how critical is the situation of Aegon, but they are both tough and hard to kill, rider and dragon

When she sat across Rhaenyra being ignored while she was being catered to, she relished it.
Now watching the feeling of being a woman not taken seriously and treated unfairly sinking into her was a huge payoff.
It’s hard not to like Aemond because the actor is so charismatic. But I know he’s evil. And Criston gets nothing but the ick factor from me.
My favourite thing about your videos is that you give a super professional analysis supported by evidence and sources and yet can't help yourself to throw shade at the characters - Allicent's "research project" made me giggle and that's only one example of many. Love your work!

I disagree with the confirmation of Sunfyre’s death. I think since he LOOKED like he was slowly dying, and unable to be moved, they just assumed he was going to die and left him behind.
I think he might end up healing and coming back Royal Rumble style.
I thought this episode was weak. In fact i think this whole season has been weak. There could’ve been a lot more visual articulation of the aftermath of such a huge battle but instead we got too much focus on Daemon unraveling at harrenhal, making the storyline seem disjointed or discontinuous. This season doesn’t feel like GoT/HOtD to me. Feels watered down.
I agree. As fans we are just frustrated we waited around for this 8 short episodes....just to have 3 in a row of Daemon 'visions' They keep playing musical chairs with episode directors Clare Kliner was this week, unnessasary Daemon going down on his mother like. Why 😑 they since removed it but ep 5 trailer showed Vermithor behind Rhaenyra & I thought the episode would end with that scene but no. Would have been nice to see Corlys walk down to his son, Alyn of Hull & apologize or something after what his grand daughter said When she turned down being his hier!!

@@Sentry961 Not really for the most part they are loyal in the beginning, and the Blacks start to gain major headway in this war. But then as the Black's pushes the Greens back SOME of the seeds flip, however that's only after a major event. And I don't think we will see that event yet, they might save it for season 3 maybe.

I wonder if Sunfyer is really dead or they just left him for dead. I think the original story is that they couldn't transport him and he just ate corpses until they started to feed him so maybe they will find sunfyer crawling around eating crispy people and realize he is not dead?
Criston said that Sunfyre seemed to be well on the way to dying, but that means he’s alive, for now, anyway.
A lot of people currently seem to *think* Sunfyre is dead (or dying)...but that doesn't mean they're right.

It's probably dead..Like he said it would change alot from the books..which is why their probably killing the dragon off..to open the story up to do what they wish.

He didn’t say Sunfyre was dead he said “I left a garrison behind to protect it, (the castle) and the kings dragon. Sunfyre was long in the dying!” That just means slow to die! It’s a very common manner of speaking…
Why did they not choose to feed the smallfolk in King's Landing with Meleys? Giblets, wings, breast, thighs, etc. Judging by this dragon's size, it could feed a lot of people! :)

@@dandelion2330 It's just unconscionable. Acolyte is so utterly terrible, I tapped out and refused to watch it anymore. It just goes to show the Balerion-sized difference in writing quality in the two shows.
Let's not compare the two series.
I believe we should realise that at this point, this House of the Dragon is meant to be a correct version of the book, not munkins' version or anyone else's. So enjoy the plot twists, like in every history book, they are biased.
So the history books got wrong that Alicent is not that many years older than Rhaenyra?

The definitive things they changed were the ages of characters, and some continuity, but the actual events are completely open to interpretation, which is what I love about watching this show, some people complain why some events don’t happen they way they do but I am always excited to see how different the moment was compared to how history viewed it, how prevalent the propaganda was to distort events, that some of the craziest bits of propaganda were actually true. I like how they depict some characters as better people compared their book counterparts to hint that the terrible things these characters did or will do were simplified and generalized to describe that character, when really it is almost always more complicated than that. Usually, history will determine your legacy based off the last thing you did, no matter how good you were before that. Spoooooiiilllleeeeerrrss!!!
Rhaenyra’s last acts were terrible, so history viewed her in a more negative light, when the show is showing that she wasn’t actually a bad person before her downfall, and it makes it even more tragic knowing where her character is heading.
@@elnethio8625 'the books are biased' is just a shield from criticism. The book and shows are separate canons. That's why characters are different ages, or don't exist etc. You aren't getting the 'correct version' you're getting Sara Hess and Condell's version.
@blinkusfishus2052 Good and very well, we're getting a third version. So can we enjoy it and not expect it to be the same as the books? That's my point, third version, correct version, no version. The bottom line is that the same people will die, but the story may twist, etc.
Or you know Cole could be lying about Sunfyre just like everything else. That would make the reveal later in the timeline even more shocking
