Thank you for the review. I have watched many of these and use them as an opportunity to offer more help to potential buyers. Thanks again. I’d like to offer my (a Ranger owner) critique. I am trying to exert some influence on FORD. > The relatively new to the US market Ford Ranger is a mediocre vehicle. This is due to the manufacturer’s lack of both ethical and sensible business practices. I speak from first hand experience, having purchased a 2019 Lariat crew cab. There is a great amount of irony associated with this critique because this truck has a lurking potential for greatness. Just look at it, then drive it, it is impressive. It delivers a ride that a full size pick-up just can not match. So what’s my gripe? One engine no options and there should be, even though the stock engine performs just fine. The same applies to having a stick shift available. The rear seat is one piece, a folding seat adds so much versatility. The bed lacks all the extras that make your truck functional, Power plugs and storage compartments and the tailgate just flops down, without the easy access system. Inside the Lariat trim is not a Lariat trim, it isn’t even an XLT. Missing are memory seat function for two, vertical power seat adjustment, heated steering wheel, power sliding rear window. etc. The 2020 model changed nothing. Also consider that the truck was available in foreign markets, did they delete some components to save money? This isn’t the first blunder Ford has made, the scrimpy mentality and lack of foresight that brought us the “Pinto” is still galloping around in the Ford corral. As I stated there is a bit of irony in my critique, I like this truck perhaps if they didn’t call my truck a Lariat I would not be so bent out of shape. Since I first started posting this I’ve had some remarks mostly positive however a few guys said that those options don’t belong on truck. Of course then neither does a nearly $50K price tag. Truthfully todays trucks can come fully loaded with a bed on the back for work and hauling. I once purchased an F 150 XLT that was much better equipped than my current Lariat. I am trying to tell Ford to treat their customers better, they are the reason Ford exist. Ford has recently announced that there are upgrades available to the Ranger most along the lines of the not for sale in US, Ranger Raptor. Also there is a tailgate damper available for 50 bucks. They should have put that on my 46K dollar truck (cheap)

I agree, some things are lacking on the lariat. Hell even my f150 xlt has a power rear sliding window. The f150 xlt has better interior finishes then the ranger xlt also.

This truck is in dire need of a full redesign. Why wait for the GM twins when Ford can do it first? If Ford can offer the new bronco, new F150, and a new ranger next year that would be amazing. Great review as always Mike!

I love my new 2020 Ford Ranger Super Cab Lariat FX4. We truly missed having a pickup. Mine is Lightning Blue. I believe I get more practicality from the Super Cab vs the Crew Cab as I get a 6' bed vs a 5' bed. How often do you travel more than an hour with more than 2 people in your vehicle? Even my mother in law doesn't mind riding around in the back. I also have better 'storage' room behind the front seats as the dual 'suicide doors' open much wider and creates a stronger cabin. The only other pickup I bought new was a 1989 Ford Ranger, and the other two F150s I had (1999 & 2010) would not fit into the garage like this ‘midsize’ pickup does. My combined MPG since new is around 23 and I’m impressed with this little engine with so much torque.
I've already added a hard top (Extang Solid Fold 2.0 ~$950), installed a tailgate damper (Dee Zee Tail Gate assist ~$40), and replaced the stock front marker lights with LED (@gHBI) to blend in with the color scheme. I purposely got the FX4 package to ensure that it be 'flat towable'. I had Blue Ox tow plates installed (along with acquiring the Blue Ox Ascent Tow Bar and the Blue Ox Patriot 3 Brake system) in order to tow it behind our motor home. It’s only 400# more than the 2017 Ford Focus Titanium hatchback on the dolly. (I miss the Focus' mpg but not the lack of utility.) Funny Fact: This Ranger has more miles 'Flat Towed' behind our motor home than on its odometer (~3400 miles).
We plan on enjoying many adventurous journeys in our new pickup.
Now to think up a good personal License Plate….hmm.

@@Its-_-Me1 , Only thing I do not like about the F-150 it's a bigger truck that's why wanted the Ranger smaller truck I heard rumors that they may be coming out with a 6 cylinder next year being Ford knows the demand is consumers wanted more power, their 4 cylinders are not selling like hot cakes as they thought the Eco boost was going to be a hit on the market it turned out it wasn't so wait n see now next year what happens.
