However, it was pretty common knowledge that Lady Gaga was a very religious Catholic atleast early on in her career. She was pretty open about it, and I’m pretty sure she would have her and her entire staff do a prayer before her performances back then. However, she definitely has always had a more progressive view of the church and doesn’t blindly follow everything the church tells you to follow, this album being a perfect example of this since.

The song is half in Spanish, and half in English, because the song is about her falling in love with a woman who was also an illegal immigrant. She wants to marry her because they're in love, but also for her lover to become a citizen. But same sex marriage was illegal, and ICE was coming to deport her partner, so they ran away together, and the song ends with her saying "Don't you try to catch me, I'm living on the edge of the law", and a gun shot. I always imagined the video to be sort of like Telephone, where she's running from the police with her lover.
And with Scheiße -- the word is German for "Shit" --- she mentions in the chorus that she wishes she could be strong without this "Scheiße/shit" and then goes into the verse where she speaks fake German. She mentioned in an interview that the fake German was supposed to be symbolic of the "bullshit" she hears from the men around her, who are threatened by her being a strong woman.

"Bad Kids" was very empowering for me as an abused child. I was always told I was bad by my parents and had to find my power and beauty from within with time as I grew older.

I think The Edge Of Glory gets so much emotional and meaningful when you know that it's about her grandfather passing away, so basically she talks about the edge between the living world and the other side, which she sees as glorious....If I'm on a wrong mood I absolutly cry hering this song😭❤

I will never be able to hear Hair without remembering Jamie, the little monster that committed S**cide due to the bullying he faced at school. Sometimes, listening to Born This Way still makes me tear up a bit, knowing there was a mainstream pop star standing up for and bringing awareness of people from all different walks of life, especially within the LGBTQ+ community.
So this is coming a year late and y'all probably know already but here's the T about the song Ajay cannot pronounce: "Scheiße" (to be pronounced like "shysse") is the German word for "shit". So she is basically singing about women empowerment as y'all know. A friend of mine has also an interesting theory that the "gibberish" she sings is a mix of words from different languages. For example she is singing "madre monster" which is Spanish or "Fräulein" which is German. And if you could now identify all words and their meaning from all the foreign languages she uses it would actually form a sentence that makes sence. Unfortunately I don't speak enough foreign languages to prove this theory myself but if it is actually true, Gaga is a genius. Well we can all agree she definately is a genius anyway. Sometimes, listening to Born This Way still makes me tear up a bit, knowing there was a mainstream pop star standing up for and bringing awareness of people from all different walks of life, especially within the LGBTQ+ community.
So this is coming a year late and y'all probably know already but here's the T about the song Ajay cannot pronounce: "Scheiße" (to be pronounced like "shysse") is the German word for "shit". So she is basically singing about women empowerment as y'all know.
A friend of mine has also an interesting theory that the "gibberish" she sings is a mix of words from different languages. For example she is singing "madre monster" which is Spanish or "Fräulein" which is German. And if you could now identify all words and their meaning from all the foreign languages she uses it would actually form a sentence that makes sence. Unfortunately I don't speak enough foreign languages to prove this theory myself but if it is actually true, Gaga is a genius. Well we can all agree she definately is a genius anyway.
