She had to film this right after she rushed to the hospital to say goodbye to her best friend who died of cancer but had just missed the chance because her friend died right before she got there. Those are her real tears.
She also only sang this song twice. The live performances used in the film and the studio track. She said she'd never sing it again because if how difficult it is to get through. She couldn't even do the final verse love in the film because she was too choked up 😞

@@whatupjxy by twice I meant two occasions ( i did say performances used in the film , plural indicates multiple takes ) but two occasions, the studio sessions and filming day . Now I didn't know she sang the full number on set as a friend of mine who also attended the filming said she couldn't finish , but also the crowd couldn't hear the sing as the amplifiers were turned off to stop the songs being leaked. Sorry for misunderstanding, I should've worded it better . But she has not sung this song since the day of filming and does not intend to

Sonja's husband told Gaga to go back to set and use those emotions to film the final scene...a scene about losing someone. The emotion is so genuine and raw. Love Lady Gaga so much.
