the bosses in this game have probably raised my blood pressure more than anything i have ever played or experienced in my life, its genuinely insane how combining the ability to go under 0 hp with game mechanics that will violently punish you if you don't follow them would basically create a fight or flight response within me when i play it

It can be hard the first few times vs a boss since yes you can see the gimmick but you still can't see attacks so your kind of guessing and the game is super punishing.
But I do love thr systems one I started to understand them I've had so much fun

Isnt this basically jrpg anime style darkest dungeon? Cuz omg this actually does look very fun!

The only real similarity to Darkest Dungeon is the Death's Door mechanic (which I predict become very very common; nobody likes getting one-shotted). It's more like Slay the Spire.

If I’m not mistaken, rogue like is when you don’t get any permanent upgrades, so every loop you start as just as strong as the start of the game, rogue lite is when your character get permanent power up as game progresses, so like the mirror in Hades. I’m not a fan of rogue likes, specially when they are hard, so this is a skip for me, but looking forward to cool videos.

Unicorn Overlord was my GOTY, maybe game of the decade. Something special about that game, made it really hard to play anything after I'd played it. Dropped a couple games quickly, finally, I dusted off my 3ds and played Devil Survivor Overlocked which has been a super fun game that locked me in and kept me going post-UO. On day 7 of the lockdown, about to wrap w/ it -- so this might be something I look at next...

You should try Gordian quest that game is crack as a deck builder party base game.

One of the few deck builder's I can actually play (Along with Marvel's Midnight Suns). All the other's I've tried feel so opaque on what is and isn't a good choice. "Do you want to upgrade this card or destroy this card?" "Do you want to draw 2 cards or do you want to heal your character?" The randomness of the drawing skills from a deck of cards is enough, no need to add multiple layers of randomness where making the same choice in one run is great and helps you progress your overall success while doing it in the next hurts you so much that you make no actual meaningful progression at your "base" or whatever because of that one choice.

@Scuzoid_Melee love midnight sun's, idk depends on the game like I liked monster train and slay the spire but I'm not with everything that just copys those and doesn't add much of a difference.
But Gordian adds a lot of character depth, and equipment depth that you have a so many options on how you build your characters, and what cards you use in your deck. Replay value insane lvl. I am an avid card game player, play magic etc so I all for different spins on the genre.

@Scuzoid_Melee check out children of zodiarcs. Party based dice, card game that has decent story and pretty good character development, even though it's kinda gated by the story.

@@hersheyofdoo Yeah, Gordian is great. I love having an actual story. Tainted Grail was the one that really put me off the combo of deckbuilder+roguelike even though the setting and perhaps the story should've worked for me. I like each genre on their own, but when they're combined I tend to hate the amount of randomness that can end a run.

No, Unicorn Overlord is the GOTY.

    • @Scuzoid_Melee

Or Metaphor. Won't be surprised if Metaphor is a serious contender for GOTY at all the big game awards shows.

Im finding Unicorn Overlord hard to continue once I reached the furry continent. Gameplay is fun but story is a simple resistance against the empire Ive seen dozens of times already. I 100% Chrono Ark playing non-stop desperate for any lore I can get my hands on.
