How to hunt a killer donates a part of their proceeds to the cold case foundation which is something I really appreciate
AnnoyingCZcamsGuy ok that’s just weird
@@MazeCrxft in what way?
Tommy because he talking about someone smelling there farts when no one was even talking about farts in the first place😳
@@MazeCrxft ahh...
@@MazeCrxft You're the one that brought farts into this...
The first time I ordered mine they emailed me and said they were out of subscriptions. They offered my $ back or for a new case to be sent out within 2 weeks. I waited and I'm glad I did.
This is such an obvious plant...
@@JustinLesamiz huh?
It takes a couple hours maybe one time every two weeks to completely finish a box. That's 4 hours in an entire month. It's amazingly fun. You have to be a real puzzle solver to enjoy this game. It isn't for people who are just looking for a little CLUE-like board game.
But if you're serious about crime mysteries and things like that, you will be addicted to this game.
David Eagin it sounds really cool! Nobody at my house wants to do it with me, but I’m about to say screw them and do it myself! Lol I first heard about it from my queen, Stephanie Harlowe! 🤍🤍
My seven year old daughter and I did our first box today. We went slowly to savor the experience and not miss any details. I hope it gets harder. My daughter solved the monthly mission in twenty minutes (probably less, but I made her look at everything).
I’m 15 and I’ve been watching murder shows like cold cases and many more when I was like very little because and I’m really interested about this box.
😂 Every time I look at the box all I can say is, “It was the butler in the library with a candle stick!” 🤣 it’s a cool game. Although, a dictionary is necessary for those of us reading a medical report and haven’t learn medical terminology.

I'll be honest, the first words I said aloud when you ddi the little sunglasses intro was "okay I'll listen to anything you have to say"
terezi glasses terezi glasses terezi glasses
I wish they would have boxes that would be single and you could finish stories per box. It makes it better for gifts and such
They do! We started with the stand alone, "Death at the Divebar" to see if we'd like it. It was about $30 on Amazon. They have others, as well, on their site.
You should try My Mystery Party: 7 deadly sins... its a stand alone case box
@@lisag9588 I did the same it was awesome
Check out post curious. Their games are similar and contained to a single box. You can get refill packs for them. And they are absolutely gorgeous.
they sell all of them at target now!
i wish i was patient and focused enough for this kind of stuff because it sounds fun (and i love true crime n things like that). but i am clearly not made for it. i have the attention span of a house fly.
Haha that's my problem. I have pretty serious untreated ADHD so I can see myself focusing intensely on a box until it's done and then forgetting everything by the next month.
Glad I came across your channel! This review definitely answered several questions I had about Hunt A Killer! Thanks for the work you put into making these videos 🙂
Did you end up getting the subscription? I'm thinking about getting it but I'm not sure whether it is worth it.
The double glasses thing gets me every time
That intro scared the shit out of me I wasn't expecting 2 glasses
"I made the mistake of searching subscription boxes through IG... Do not do that." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Imma go do that rn
that intro with the glasses was better than the real intro hahahahahha

You're so fun I couldn't stop watching! You have a talent. ♥
I like to watch review videos at 1.5 speed, maybe even faster. Your review was amazing viewed that way. I loved your editing. Thumbs up!
Was deciding to try another murder mystery box, came across your video.
I would highly suggest looking up Murder Mystery Box, each box is the entire case so you don't have to go months upon months solving one; it's monthly wiyh different cases but they all connect but not to the point it's necessary to keep going with subscription, i suggest giving that one a try! It even had a cute necklace and bracelet in mine that i just got, so they have things in the box that are usable in real life, it is up there in the price department around $30 but at least they have stuff you can use in real life. It was very fun to me, make a video for it please!!!
I hope you keep growing. I really enjoy your style of content :)
Thank you for this! My wife and I were considering it, but your video helped us decide it may not be for us. Particularly the fact that you have to commit for multiple months to finish one story.
You can push them through quicker. We did Class of 98 (the most recent one) in like a month and half
They are 6 month stories.
If you're not into waiting, you should try detective games instead. They're pretty good and comedic as well. I recommend Ace attorney which is more traditional in being a defense attorney, or danganronpa which is more flashy and more fanservice-y but still fun and I enjoy the story nonetheless.
@@sophiayamagughi "detective games"
you mean anime games lmaoo
@@yume5441 I mean they can be both anime and detective games
I didn’t get a subscription but I bought an entire box set. I bought the Moon Summit Mystery and it’s really easy so far. About 1-2 hours for each episode . It’s pretty funny but I want more of a challenge so I want to buy it again but get a harder one .
started watching your videos just these past couple months. saw an ad for hunt a killer and was interested so i searched for reviews... i was so excited when i saw your video on the google search page bc i 100% trust you, thank u amanda 🥰
The intro and outro should stay and be a thing now, they were so funny.
The way she says 'i appreciate it' is the reason shes come so far😀, plus, so sweet
As for single one time experiences in the realm of Hunter Killer style like games, you should give The Exit series a shot. They' re basically escape room in a box like games and really really fun in my opinion.
I'm sure a lot of this has probably changed in a year but would anyone think this would be a fun like dinner party game? Or maybe too many minds working on small things at once?
Yeah it would be great to get together with friends and play
yes also they have party bundles!
I found your channel from your TanaCon videos and really enjoy your style of videos.
I see Swell's post. I watch :) love your content
They’re apparently coming out with standalone boxes now!
I think you're funnier than you give yourself credit for. Beyond the humor, I appreciate your videos because I honestly trust your opinions and conclusions.
i really like your channel and its nice being a small community because there is able to be interaction :)
nah its just a marketing strategy to make you feel like you should buy it right then and there. its a little deceptive but not uncommon
These series are great and tbh you actually deserve so much more views. I kinda just want you to do a vid about anything that is trendy and controversial so that you get all those views, engagement and subs LOL. Rise girl!
Just throwing in some random ideas in case some of these suddenly give you inspiration: you could for instance buy and review some famous youtuber's merch (something that made some waves recently or had some controversy lol), or visit and review some youtuber's live show/concert, or try following a Bob Ross tutorial (not sure if this trend is over yet?), or idk get a bullshit reading from some con artist like an astrologist or a medium and try to catch them on some very obvious lie but still play along with it and expose later. You could also try going blind/deaf for a day or something? Or some typical but fun youtuber stuff, like letting a stranger buy you a random outfit in a thrift store and wearing it all day? Or doing those DNA tests and some investivation about it while you're at it. Idk, that's a lot of random shit, but I hope that you do something that gives you some solid publicity lol!
Valeria Vagapova ok real talk the merch thing was something I’ve been thinking of doing because i have never bought youtubers merch but im waiting for that one because buying a ton of merch is gonna be pricey
@@SwellEntertainment lol I never bought merch either tbh, which means you gotta try it so we don't have to :P:P
@@valeriavagapova omg i just read your comments on rose's (cheaplazyvegan) video about being vegan (which were very well articulated with alot of facts which i loved). And now you're here. Do we watch the same people? :') anyway I found this kinda funny so ehh.. i decided to tell you. Have a great day!
@@HolySmokesMaria Awwwww that's actually so sweet!! I did indeed leave quite a few way-too-long comments there that I thought were probably a total waste of time and effort, but I'm glad someone is actually reading them hahah! This is so random and I love it honestly lol
You answered a lot of questions that I had about this game/box. I agree with they need to have a one box kit. Thanks so much for the informative video. You are soooo funny.
so glad you posted this. i'm tempted to try it because i'm obsessed with true crime too! MFM and LPOTL are my favorites too. I just saw MFM live in LA ahaha
Hi. This is about hunt-a-killer. Fun to play yet if you try to cancel they won't let you. After three months we contacted our bank and were told that hunt-a-killer changes their company name every couple of weeks so trying to cancel the payments won't work and the only way to stop them from taking our money was to cancel the credit card. Our bank said that hunt-a-killer is flagged and the bank is aware of their company and the scandalous business practice they employ.
Hope this helps and pass it on.
They have blocked me from commenting yet no attempt to rectify the issue or answer my claim.
Brian Miller woah that sounds scary
PLEASE READ THIS: I ordered a box set from them for my wife weeks ago for Christmas, then they lied about the fact that it had been shipped when they didn't have it in stock, and now even though they still haven't shipped it and I won't get it by Christmas, they refuse to cancel my order and issue me a refund.
Thanks for the review! I wish I would have known they weren't standalone before I ordered the box. Appreciate you!
For some reason, the way you say "comment down below" is really cute.
Quarantine brought me here...loved your review. And I watched the whole thing, which is the opposite of how my attn span is set up lmao not gonna order this because it seems like more work than I have time for lol thanks for trying it so I don’t have to!
"Im not going to be a super secret detective person in the future"...wow, i am so surprised by this revelation.
You've sold me on this, I am subscribing to both boxes, the horror and regular one.
Holy cow, I’m only 7 minutes in and I’m already blown away by your content lol. Definitely subscribing
I love MFM and The Last Podcast on the Left!! So great finding fellow true crime loving podcast listeners. I just ordered this box. I hope that mine is a bit more... accurate? Haha nothing will annoy me more than not knowing if I'm done or not?! New subscriber, hope to keep in touch x
Great review. You ched base on all the concerns I had questions about. So thank you.
I LOVE THE HUNT THE KILLER! I’m doing the theatre one and it’s Awesome! I’m on box 5 and I love it
Well, if you want a single standalone package mystery, the Mysterious Package Company has many like that. They have some that are single, standalone mailing experience. They have some that are more. It will be fun either way.
She mentioned adding stand alone boxes, etc. (in 2018)... They have started doing this! They put up 3 a few weeks ago (May/June 2020). You can also buy entire past seasons, which is awesome. I personally love this product. They had 6 'seasons' that you could order in whole, 3 were sold out the first time I looked, then 4 were sold out so I snatched one of the remaining. A few weeks later they sent an email that they had additional inventory. I highly recommend- the production quality is outstanding, and this is excellent for quarantine!
There's a really good free app called No Stranger (I think?) which involves going to websites created by the game devs. Like an online treasure hunt At one point you even send an email and you get a clue back emailed back. It was so cool. I wish there were other games in that style.
great video from the best channel on utube thank you keep up the good work
"this is clearly not cheap" pulls out paper
Bless you child for warning me not to search that on insta 🙏
I love watching your videos.
I thought my bell had been on....but no its off!?! Hmmmmmmm, don't know how it got turned off.
I would like to know where you got the candle holders with the bat and spider bc THEY ARE AWESOME ❤
Twisted Frannie got them from a Joannes fabric store last Halloween hahahaha

Just played this story recently and it’s amazing! Would recommend
Hunt A Killer has stand-alone murder mystery game boxes now. You should try Hunt A Killer's Death at the Dive Bar box -- which is cheaper and can be found for sale on Amazon as well.
I found your channel listening to Sword and scale about Hunter killer and then I googled it and then sign your channel LOL I find you interesting and pretty funny so I will subscribe to your channel Hope to see more in the future
I've bought the standalone boxes (death at the divebar, etc), and loved them! I'm wondering how each subscription "episode" compares to the standalone boxes?
Just found you because I was looking to see if this sub box is worth the hype. You are hilarious! thank you!
Great review... thanks for this! I'm still undecided, and wish they had the stand-alone stories.
LOL people saying they can't afford $30 / month for a mystery box makes me feel super guilty for buying a collector's edition of a Japanese video game for $425.
People saying they can't afford $30 a month are probably spending money on other unnecessary things, lol.
@@Sara-gl8ue Or they legitimately can't afford a recurring 30 dollar payment? You know poor people exist, right?
Multiple sunglasses sounds like my type of game...... thanks for being honest. Was looking into this thing.
Thanks. Your thoughts were very helpful!
yeahh the pace and zero limitations was too much for me. a few friends and I did three? boxes, and then we quit. half just couldn't get into it and the other half of us were going crazy because we couldn't deal with how unstructured it was.
last podcast totally sold me on it, but I would bet money none of them actually had the patience for it.
Real life is rarely structured. Stick to video games.
Thanks so much for your review. Debating a subscription for my wife and I. Also, what are your top true crime podcasts? We need more! Some that we listen to are Sword and Scale, Small Town Murder, and True Crime Garage
Serial is great and very popular.
Morbid.
I have done a similar box, I think it was a murder mystery box. Personally I loved it, the one I did was based on a wine company. But there were multiple options, but it was fun trying to find suspicious activity. I find you have to find possible solutions and then find the evidence. I also find I do some and then come back to it later. I tend to find stuff I didn't see before. I have always wanted something like this to exist so I'm glad there are ones that exist.
This reminds me of the mysterious package company. I've been on their mailing list for years but have never had the money to be able to do it yet
I can totally sit down and do this. Its probably better than video games. I love crime situations and having to figure out every detail of every scenario leading to the killer(s).
Thank you for the review. I have been debating about whether or not to subscribe to Hunt A Killer. I would dig it if I didn't need to continue with a monthly subscription. I don't want to put out $30 a month if I have to commit to a full year. If they offered stand alone boxes, I would def do it. Thanks!
I'm going to be purchasing this box for me and a group of friends to get together and do as a couples night activities.
Love the LPOTL , good review , id rather drink my 30 dollars a month...
Changing availability could be due to reservartions. When you start purchase you get reservation and number decreases, but if you give up it returns. A lot of people do this, especially foreign because they check shipping and extra fees only shown at the checkout.
Great review, enjoyed the content.
My mom is going to get me a subscription for this and I’m so excited!!
I have been thinking about getting the subscription, is it worth it?
@@lillianshmol6598 i never ended up getting it so i wouldnt know :)
They do sell bundles where you can get everything at once but it’s over $100+
Guess I'm funny, because I just spent an hour trying to remember your channel name to get back to this video before I use a promo code at HAK so I could use YOUR code. Silly me, lol.
Well, lovely seeing you again, and I'll watch a few new videos to show loyalty instead lol
Yes, so happy to find another LPOTL fan in the wild!
Damn, so each monthly box, is just an episode for the entire case? Im Thinking of trying it out, but if it takes a years subscription (12*30 per month) to solve the case...
God damn. May not be worth the time and $$$.
I dig your vids and subscribed. I appreciate the review.
👍🏽
It's actually not too bad if you can get a few people together to all chip in. We opted for the 6mo subscription and the boxes ended up being cheaper but it's up front payment. I think it's worth it
yeah thats a whole lot
They have full episode bundles you dont need a subscription for, that way you get the entire story you are interested in complete and once so you dont have to wait for a next episode. Expensive tho.
A company is legit writing this planning it out making the clues and expanding the story to make it more real, it is someone’s job and business, I wouldn’t expect you to write a 1000 page book for free lol
@@chronic1284 no, but I wouldn't expect to pay for each chapter as a subscription.
They have full episode bundle boxes. Expensive but if you have the money you get the entire episodes at once so you dont have to wait a month for the next episode or a subscription.
Love your personality. You're awesome.
.......will this help me live out my fantasy of becoming Rustin Cohle?
Dont do it. Its the worst and customer service stinks. My brother is an escape room junkie. He has 80+ done. So got him a trial for his birthday.
They put it as a full subscription without approval. He got two shipments. And he didn’t like because of the homework style. He canceled and they stopped shipments. However they kept charging me additional two months. They wouldn’t refund the extra two months because it was “active”. But if it active then why wouldn’t there be shipments?? Its bs. They are gaugers.
I appreciate your Captain intro. 😎
Btw i love your silver scull in da back.hehe its like he just i SEE YOU..cheers
Awesome review! Thank you
They added spoilers now so you can see how many clues are in one box and if you came to the right conclusion
I wish it was separate individual cases to solve per each package. Instead of an episodic lead up to a grand conclusion.
I do their subscription boxes. They do have stand alone boxes (the ones you referenced near the end of the video). The regular subscription is solving a mystery/killer for each 6 episodes. (So you do two stories per year). We are enjoying it so far. Thx for the video.
So is this ONE case per month? OR Does each month ADD up to a YEAR LONG case?
So if the subscription remaining number changes. I’m curious to find out out how many people actually got free subscriptions the following month.
I want to try it out seems so fun !!!
thanks for the review.
DEADASS RIGHT AS U SAID DONT LOOK UP SUB BOXES I GOT AN AD FOR A SLIME ONE OMG I WAS LOOKING AT STICKER SUB BOXES EARLIER FUUUCKKKK
Those r stand alone and the subscription is six and u can request the next box after a wk or whatever when u want it. Also the initiation box u tried is now a buy it all at once one.
I know this is an old video but learn about OSINT (open sourced intelligence) and use Maltego or another program like it. It’s great for stuff like this.
- It’s best to know and write down your main questions.
Who:
What:
When:
Where:
Why:
How:
- Look through what you have in your evidence and write whatever answers you have down next to the correct questions.
- Look at the foreground of the evidence and the background of the evidence. (For example what is written in the paper(s) and the border around what is written.)
- Always fact check/verify what you find.
I have no patience thank you for this.
Thank you for this review I've seen ads for this on Facebook a bunch and I've also heard about it on True Crime podcasts. I had been thinking about trying it out but now I'm not going to bother just don't have enough spare time for it. Guess I'll just stick to the podcasts been listening to "You Must Remember This" lately one about old school Hollywood legends and scandals.
I highly recomend Time Stories the board game if youre looking for a mystery type game that is well thought out and challenging. The base game provides you with really great storage, which is good cause each game can last five to six hours on average, so you can easily store the game and return to it later. Each game is a stand alone story so after you are done with the base game you can choose the scenario you want to play next. Each game comes with beautiful artwork and an engaging story. You choose a recepiticle (character) to play as, which comes with stats to engage with story characters or fight monsters. It is a co op game, but playing with other people in this game has always been engaging and fun, as each person has their own special roles and some challenges can only be accomplished by certain characters. There were always twists in the narrative I was not expecting and the time crunch to complete tasks always presented a challenge. I have not played Catch a Killer but I will say the subscription turned me off.
it'd b dope to split the cost with a friend. is it possible? like, once it's opened and used is it reusable for someone else ?
The reusability is up to the person really. We photocopy everything so that we can each have a copy to take notes on and stuff. For the most parts if you are careful enough I think the cases can be reused by others.
@@maha1kta rad. good to kno. thanks
Also... I have not done any of the stand alone boxes but I have finished Initiation and Vindication. I'm starting Class of '98 now. I'm also working on Empty Faces which I like a bit better than Hunt a Killer... same companies different story aspects. I have EF The Woods and The Mountain.
The Mine I thought was a lot harder to solve than the HAK ones we have done. EF is pretty fun though. Have you done EI yet?
Would you recommend this as a gift for someone that loves to watch shows like csi and law and order? Is this for person who likes to play board games and have game nights?
YES to all of that!
I'd love to do this with a friend or partner, but I doubt I could stay engaged just by myself (even with the online community) plus the pricetag is a little ouch
Btw I know this is two years ago but they now do have a stand alone at least for 1 case
Very neat.
I genuinely thought they were stand alone cases, I don't think people talk about that? But like maybe I just don't remember. I'm glad to know that, cause that's too much for me too
