Update: I had no issues sending back my items, there was no message saying "You sure you want to send everything back?" or anything like that. I brought my package with the included shipping label to my local UPS drop off and had no issues. Once I saw on my account that my package had been received at their center and that I was all good with that box, I went to cancel my subscription with Dailylook and received a pop up that said I had a box out to be delivered. I was confused as my next box wasn't supposed to be shipped for another three weeks. I selected their option to suspend my subscription for three months, and it made the "cancel your subscription" button disappear. I wet on their customer support chat as that had gotten me results previously. I explained that I wanted to cancel my subscription and when asked why I explained how I didn't like how they handled my money. The employee left the chat. Another one came on and did a cursory cancelation even though my items hadn't been verified at the warehouse yet, which is why I was having that earlier issue of canceling on my own. I checked my account on Oct 28 and my subscription has been officially canceled.

You're paying for a stylist, but how much effort is that person really putting into selecting pieces for you? Seems like they could just use an algorithm to do all that instead.
Deadass tho, they probably are using an algorithm and just have a small team of stylists correcting/verifying the choices of the AI. Based on the questionnaire and what little I know about machine learning
I don’t know if you’ll actually see this, but I had a couple of thoughts. I’ve actually been a personal stylist in/with an established store before, so I have some experience with fashion and the way stylists operate. (Not saying I’m the be-all/end-all in expertise, but that I do have some inside knowledge.)
First: I think that the blue stripe and red shirts being big was on purpose. The slightly slouchy/baggy look tends to be in and out of style. That being said, I agree with you in that I’m not generally a fan and do not wear that style myself. (Side note: I know you said you don’t tend to wear lighter colors, but I honestly think that shade of blue was a really pretty color for you.)
From what the video showed of the jeans, I thought they looked really cute on you, but I understand what you were saying about liking your jeans high waisted. (Honestly, all of mine are, and I wouldn’t have it any other way for a LOT of reasons.)
Ultimately what it comes down to is your comfort. Your stylist can shown you every single item of clothing in your size, and if you’re not comfortable with it for whatever reason, you’re not going to wear it. I never once lied to my clients about how something looked, because I’ve been lied to on occasion by clerks/stylists and sometimes even been stuck with merch that I hated/never even took the tags off of. That feeling totally sucks, and I never wanted to make someone feel like that. As a stylist, my ultimate goal was to make my clients feel like their best selves and project genuine confidence and ease with their fashion choices - with a side goal of helping them branch out of their comfort zone to include new pieces that they wouldn’t have thought to look at before.
I was almost always face-to-face with my clients. As a result, I could get feedback from them right away so we could work on making fashion choices for them usually pretty quickly. I have also had clients that I dealt with exclusively over the phone/email, and boy was that a trek. Knowing how complicated and effort/time consuming that can be, I get it. From the company’s end, especially because it was your first box, it looks like your stylist played it very safe with a few little interesting details thrown in here and there. Honestly , that’s probably what I would do, depending on how much info I had about you. (I don’t know their exact questions or if their “stylists” actually have to go through company-mandatory suggestions {or if they have free reign in box design}, but any of these factors could influence what they sent you.) I do agree with you that it probably would be come more and more tailored the more boxes you bought.
All that aside, what they did with the double charging was absolutely ridiculous and the lack of communication seems pretty inexcusable. I don’t know if they dropped the ball on your order or if that is standard practice, but the situation would leave a permanent bad taste in my mouth as well.
I love this thread of trials and am especially glad you decided to try something like this. I was wondering what a subscription box like this would be like, and it’s nice to see an honest and comprehensive look at the whole process from start to finish.
(As a different side note, you’re super cute/adorable and I think that you could probably branch out with your clothes than you realize. I don’t know all of what’s in your closet, so I don’t know how much you do branch out; but from a couple of the things you said, it seems like you like your couple of staple styles and that’s generally what you stick to when picking out clothes. Also, you said you were super picky - same here. That’s why I generally won’t let anyone style me, so I’m right there with ya. 😂)

I wish I can effort a stylist I don't know what looks good on me what doesn't so I always play it safe at first I thought its because I'm overweight but now I lost a lot and I'm now 147 weight/6'8 hight and still I can't find anything that looks good on me especially when I shop by myself but its a different story when my sister with me even when I was overweight it was harder to find something sure but now I know it wasn't my body shape that was in my way to be fashionista 😅 I should accept pop culture stereotypes and accept that I'm the nerd/geek in my family 😂
i want more people to see your videos. you put time, effort and money into making these and you stay honest in your reviews. which many youtubers these days don't seem able to do..
I don't think I'd ever use a service like this, but it's nice to see someone validate my pre-existing beliefs about them. Now I can feel smug and superior to those who have tried them ;)

I would be so mad at that random charge as well! I have several bank accounts to help me budget, so randomly being charged over $100 is not okay. I have the money, but I need to know what is being charged to make sure it is in the proper account.

Thanks for trying this style subscription box. I spent a couple of hours looking at different sites like that, but I have never went through with one. That's some major bullshit about a 2nd temporary charge with no heads up about it. What a damn hassle.... Great video

I know this is an old comment, but that's not what a pre-authorization is. I've worked in online retail and it's a standard procedure (shitty to do it for so much money and twice, absolutely) but the company does not get the money and it never really withdraws.

Having worked for services that offer subscriptions, even if they made the mistake, your bank still has 30 days to legally put the money back in your account after the company sends the refund. You can dispute the charge with your bank to get it back sooner, but the company who charged it and refunded it has very little control over that.
That's why they shouldn't make charges like that without permission. Those kind of charges are usually $1 so it doesn't matter if you don't get it back in a timely manner.

I think these style box are such a sham. The items that get sent to you are always 39 yo new mom style and there's always one of those god awful off-shoulder tops that fit way too weird. I think if you're a mom who thinks it's worth it to spend a bunch of unnecessary money on a stylist, that I'm assuming is just an algorithm, AND add one extra chore of returning stuff you don't like then yeah this seems like a good idea. But, if you're young and just unsure of how to style yourself, just go to Pinterest or a blog or something and just online shop. These style boxes just seem like bullshit.
This seems sorta bs. Atleast with a sub box you get to keep the stuff without paying a second time...... this just seems pricey and not worth it.
If I paid even a hundred dollars for seven similar items, I would be beating myself up about it for weeks.

I like pretty much all of those styles but they do not look well made... the only things I’d consider keeping is the bomber jacket and the blue shirt but those prices... nope

This is why I turned off the ability to overdraft my accounts. If I don't have the funds the transaction just doesn't go through, handy thing.
You should try the ILmakiage makeup thing that Instagram shoves down my throat. It’s like a foundation that you get matched online with and can choose to keep if you like it and return in if not and get a full refund

I think people NEED to keep in mind, that the person that is styling your box doesn't know what you have in your closet. In my opinion, if they send you some pieces of clothing that are similar to items that you already have in your closet, that should be considered somewhat of a win. They picked pieces of clothing that are your style, because you already have them. I think these stylist boxes are more for people who are willing to try clothing items that may be out of their comfort zones.
If the red top fit even 15% better, it would have been SUPER cute
