- This 300zx Z32 project car has come a long way in the past few months. It's unfortunate there are so many careless drivers that share the roads with us car enthisists in our project cars. Luckily the damage wasn't any worse than what it was.
We have a big car meet planned at omars and have to prep multiple 240sx S13s in time for the show!

I concur with all of the comments about getting a dash cam - but not for traffic incidents. I could totally see you getting some fun footage when you're driving (and drifting) to include in your videos.
Old people are the worst to get into an accident with. I was in my dads S10, stopped in front of a flagger on the highway who had my lane stopped to let the other lane by. I happen to glance in my rearview mirror and see a silver car coming in hot, so I hold the brakes and sit back in the seat completely. The elderly woman slammed on her brakes and steered toward the ditch to our right, flying by me bouncing through an enormous ditch after clipping the back passenger side of my dads truck. The flagger about shit himself and was prepared to jump out of the way but luckily he didn't have to. She said she was gawking to the left and didn't notice the flagger or myself. I got calls from her husband trying to convince me to not file an insurance claim, even after explaining to him it wasn't my truck so I can't make that call, he kept calling and treating me like a piece of shit, like I caused all of this. I think he knew she could lose her license due to her age/previous incidents or something.
Another story of an elderly person blaming others for their crash: I had just got on my motorcycle to leave the post office and noticed a car backing up behind me, I could have left going forward but wasn't in a hurry so I'm sitting there watching them back up. The car got backed up and was about to put it in drive, right as another car driving down the parking lane slammed into the rear of their car. The elderly guy got out and started acting like they had backed up into him, that he was not at fault. He noticed me and realized I saw the whole thing. He repeatedly came up to me and said I can go now, trying to get me to leave the scene and be on my way, so it would be a he said/she said situation. He was very upset when I offered to be a witness to the ladies in the car that got hit by him and he still kept trying to get me to leave to the point of harassment.

@@LindaPls I've lived in Houston, TX for 5-6 years now and holy fuck, a dashcam is basically a requirement or you WILL get fucked by someone. I had two motorcycles and a car totaled by hit and runs. There's a 90% chance of them running around here, dashcam is the only way to prove anything, even if they actually stop and exchange info you know they'll lie about what happened.

Definitely his bumper did it right where u pointed at the edge where the bumper screws up to the fender on the caddie. That's the amazing thing with pearl white paint, there multiple layers of white so it takes more to wear through. Definitely go to court and make sure u track his date because some will reschedule it and you won't be notified of new court dates.

By the way, once you are finally done with the 240sx, you should paint it dark blue (the dark blue of the hood and the left fender for reference, they need to be refreshed as well). It looks more fitting, in my opinion, and it'll match with the spoiler and the valve cover.

Last week a guy backed up into my freshly painted 99 ek civic.. he had no insurance and I had a replacement drivers side door so I just walked away.. dude was doing door dash and was watching his phone while backing up on a busy street.. he did admit it was he's fault... Stay safe out there and remember every body is out to ruin your nice project car....

Tip, instead of welding a bolt or nut directly to a broken bolt, weld a wide washer on, to get a good weld onto the broken stud, then weld a nut around the outside onto the washer, if that makes sense.. welding down the middle of a nut very rarely works.. Had the exakt same Situation with a retired couple in my work van. The also sideswiped me in a S-construction narrowing. They blamed me for everything. 2 years of Court/Justice/Insurance action later my opponent insurance sued my company insurance and i had to go to court as a witness for my companies insurance. The verdict was already prewritten because I drove on left lane (My van was to broad for the left lane). So the opponents insurance got the money from my insurance. After another accident 2 years later I have a dashcam.

This almost exactly what happened to me!! But thankfully the dashcam footage helped the guy reverse his story of, "You're new here huh.. You rammed me!"
His insurance paid for my cars repairs. About 2 months later the guard (Irish popo) rang me and asked where I got my dash cam, he said, "that footage was unbelievably good!" I was just using a second hand GoPro at the time. :D I'm a bit lazier now and have a half decent 1080P dash cam that automatically starts recording and saves on impact. That €200 GoPro saved me about 5 grand!

My first car was a ‘79 280ZX. Kept it 10 yrs and put 200,000 miles on it. I loved that car.

I think everybody has already suffered once with drivers/riders like this, my dad bought a 2021 Gray Metallic Volkswagen sedan last year, Brand new with 30,000km on it, 2 months in and a biker smashed his right mirror, he was moving and couldn't stop to get the mirror cover that got thrown away. He got a new mirror and 2 weeks after a biker lost control in the rain and shunted into his rear bumper, breaking it in the process, he's waiting for the new bumper to arrive and get painted, still to this day, even tho my dad tried polishing, there's still red paint from the motorcycle in the bumper

I'm an 18-year-old and proudly own a 2019 Toyota Gt86 TRD Special Edition. I was driving in heavy traffic and basically, this lady cut into my lane at a high rate of speed. I called the cops immediately after calling my parents to let them know what happened. Basically, no witnesses stopped or anything, and I kinda was left to fight for myself. I told the State Trooper what happened and the lady was given the ticket and was put at fault. Which I later found out that the lady told the cop that I merged into her lane and hit her. It sucks that people don't want to own up to their mistakes. But when my car returns, I will definitely be getting a dashcam.

Auto trans cars sometimes have cable actuator or solenoid on the gear selector so you can't put it into gear without pressing the brakes.
So check the fuse panel for a blown fuse or even near/under the gear selector's interior pieces.

Fr when my brothers car was written off by a drunk and high driver who drove head on into him they tried to find reasons to say my brothers car was un-road worthy, he had a dash cam and everything that caught the whole crash. Thank God there were witnesses and heaps of reports of the other driver driving reckless prior to that, otherwise who knows what would have happened.

A year ago i got put 100% at fault for rear ending a guy who merged into highway traffic without looking, I had nowhere to go, all I could do was try to stop, I was able to get down to about 25mph from 60 before impact, still doesn't matter. I earned the "privilege" to buy the guy a new car and was charged for the accident HE CAUSED. He probably did it on purpose, f n sociopaths out there lol
And now, despite 30 years of driving experience and this being the 2nd at-fault accident ive EVER HAD (the first was at age 16) I am on high risk insurance because it happened to be an expensive car (and insurance companies are greedy af especially these days). At least nobody got hurt......

It's incidents like this that make me not ever want to drive a car on the road. Always roll with a dashcam. The police will not help you. In fact in cases such as this, the police can actually hurt you in court. I personally had an instance where the other party side swiped my car. They we're issued a ticket for no drivers license and the police report actually said that I was the one at fault. This was a complete disaster for me. With no dashcam footage, I had no way to prove my case. So my car still bares the damage to this day. The other party did not show up for court, the case was thrown out. The judge cited that, there was damage under $2,000 done to my vehicle. And that was that. Case dismissed.
That's why I have dash cams in my cars. Walmart has a few. Their brand ON is...ok. But i also have cobra and Scosche. The Scosche one has a big screen but it's mini usb and kinda sucks. Soon to have rear facing as well. And i have that same Viper toy car

I really recommend getting a dashcam with both a front and back view so this type of situation can be resolved much easily and prove you to be the victim and not the suspect.

Hey Mike you probably wont see this but if you wet sand and buff it'll be minimal damage looks to be removable or try a clay bar with some lubricant. That should be the best result for that paint if you want it back.

Time to invest in a good dash cam I think 😅 don’t cheap out on them either. I’ve had a cheap one and it was horrible. Then paid nearly 1k for a 4k front and rear setup and it’s perfect, super clear footage. No mistaking who hit who in a situation like that

Brother invest in some front and rear dash cams. You can hardwire them hide them all that. Your vehicles seem like investments to you along with hobbies and love. Dash cam is worth the investment.

When my dad was a kid he went through a green at an intersection & some old guy ran a red & totaled my dad's Chevelle. Guy simply lied to the cops and said my dad was at fault. Cops believed him and he had to buy a new car. Always get witnesses if you can!!

Garmin dash cam mini 2 is what I have in my SUV. my IS300 has a bigger one that uses suction cup dont like it too much honestly. The mini2 seems like what I'll be buying for my next cars as well. since its soo small and discrete and cheap. The garmin app it uses works great on iphone and android.
Quick tip , your Gloria needs a brake pedal switch to sort that shifter issue .

Two months ago I was heading to work and some dude slammed into my car (93 civic coupe) and drove off, causing me to not get any insurance money or anything.
Absolutely devastated man, front end was messed up, rear end was messed up, subframe bent, the car got pretty banged up.
After working all summer and getting parts for it, I may finally get her back on the road and I'm honestly so excited, this is my first car and I'm dying to drive it again bro.
Ignorant people are the worst man. Anyways, glad he's getting ticketed for it and facing the consequences.
This exact instance is the reason all my vehicles have front and rear facing dash cams. Had a woman pull out of a parking lot and into luckily only the wheel of my truck, but she said I switched lanes when I did not. Cops showed up got her side, instead of me explaining my side I showed them the video of what happened. No arguing with a video.
In my only accident we both got tickets but the other driver had to pay my damages because he was still at fault. It's always a nightmare that's why it's good to have insurance so they can deal with that.
The reason you have to pull-down on that red thing. On the shifter and the Gloria, this is just me. Guessing my old focus was an automatic. And when my tail lights went out, you had to point the key into the shifter interlock in order to pull back the shifter. So I'm guessing where the car was rendered. It's tripping the shift interlock in the Gloria.
