Unusual Failure + Rain Drifting in my 300zx Z32

- This project car 300zx Z32 was saved from a junkyard, which may explain why it has such unusual issues. Today we battle the differences between 300zx z32 calipers and rotors. Although the odds are against us, we push through to completion! Later we install Work VX-X9 wheels on the front for some added style. While waiting for parts to arrive, rain drifting and rain skateboarding filled the time.

been watching for a couple years but never commented. just wanted to say. You're awesome. an absolute breath of fresh air in the car community. you deserve a lot more recognition. you've definitely helped me have a more positive outlook on the community
Thank you for sticking around man, I really appreciate you 🙏
He’s spitting facts
Starting to look awesome keep going lads!
29:27 Devon casually drinking a two liters Fanta sitting outside the garage with chainsaw sounds in the background is my definition of enjoying the life
I cracked up laughing at that aye😂😂 such chill guys bleeding brakes and breaking brakes but chainsaws and drinking Fanta? That’s just the icing on the cake😊
I got 300 dollars for the silver... rent and school are just double teaming my bank account right now😭.
I feel you man, push through it! You got this! There will be plenty of Z's for you once you get your bag up🔥
The power steering pour got me.. I can't pour anything either lol
Maaaan I suck at pouring 😅
@@PrizzaMike i don't claim to know anything about cars, but for pouring, if you put the nozzle to the top, and pour while the bottle is sideways up and down with the spout at the top, you don't get the air burps. I am 49, and learned that last year. lol
the skating bit with peyton was gold 😂
Damn, you really bring back that mid-2000's car DVD vibe. Just so laid back and living the automotive life. They say the best days are behind us, but I say THESE are the good ol' days.
My understanding of the direction of the rotors, if they are directional, it is not for the vents/slots on the outside, but for the internal veins/vents of the rotor, those are directional and will not get as much airflow if installed incorrectly, a lot of rotors are straight on the inside though. Great vids as always though brotha!
Depends on manufacturer..StopTech has them 'backwards' , while for example EBC ones go 'FWD' pointing slots. Should just follow the stickers as pointed by manufacturer. And yes, it has to do with the inside veins heat dispersal pattern. I have those two pointing in different directions front-back rn on my car when looking thru the rims. : )
This makes great sense, thank you for your input
Yep the inner vanes should lean towards the back of the car. I thought it was the opposite way too.
Good image that explains the cooling veins:

@@PrizzaMike I would agree. My father uses AdaptiveOne rotors for his trucks and those are slotted but they are slotted with weird little bacon curl looking lines. They dont even point outwards towards the edge of the rotor.
love the timing with song and skating that rail
There was no chance your neighbour wasn't copping a tree limb to the body up there. Absolute mad lad with the chainsaw. 😅
Yeah that guy was taking some serious risks. Chainsaws (and trees) are nothing to be messed with
Hey just FYI, you don't need another person to bleed breaks, just attach clear tubing to the bleeder value and put it into a catch bottle that is placed higher than the caliper, the hose runs up and into the bottle preventing any air from going back into the caliper, then just pump the breaks yourself then check the clear tubing to make sure no bubbles are coming out any more.
I very much enjoy watching your videos and how you take the time to explain the diagnosis and the probable causes and then the repair. You and Dana aka Youngstatic are my 2 favorite CZcamsrs to watch. Please keep up the great work!
Cant wait to see 300zx painted. Looking forward for bodywork and mods)
MORE VIDEOS MIKE MORE!!! You've become one of my top creators please keep grinding!!!
Love to see some skate clips thrown in there! Cars looking sweet as always. Keep killing it Mike.
as much as i want the Z the integra sitting dismantled in my garage says otherwise
nothing better than coming home from work to see that Mike posted!!!
Dude the skate edit was tight! So stoked seeing you shred in the yt vids man! You’re sick as!
One badasss video as always by the one the only, PrizzaMike!
Mike you’re the man keep up the good work! These videos are the best bro.
Love the passion you bring to these vids, also how real everyone is. I have started watching so many youtubers and normally stop when the videos get to commercial.. just spoils it! Anyway, not sure if this has been bought up but my favorite line/word that seems to pop up with you is Verify.. I think if you need a merch idea (which you probably don't) a sweet tee or hoody with the gloria etc and just the word "Verify" would be cool! Everyone who follows or watches you would just know.. Peace
aye all I'm saying is a new board set up in the next vid would be a nice touch, its always so satisfying to watch
can’t wait to see the a at it’s complete form. already looking amazing mike. keep it up. love the vids. also need more integra updates
23:45 the leak is from the crush washers on the first banjo bolt you removed for the pressure line. You can see where it trails down.
Always love the skate edits. That switch front bigspin had hella pop!
I never really like the look of 300zx until your videos and now I want it so bad 😄 you presented it to me so good and I love that car so much
Keep up that hard work. Love the edits !! ❤
therapeutic as always mike 🎉🙏
mister prizza i’ve watched you for a very long time on another account and i will say you’re my favorite car youtuber. you’re thorough with explaining how to mod cars and how to do it properly. keep up the good work man. all love ❤️🤘🏼✌🏻
After a hard day this is the best when Mike post❤❤❤
Really enjoyed the longer video today. Been watching for a little over a year now. Your motivation is admirable, made me want to start a channel myself. Keep it up, you will succeed.
Awesome video as always
fire video like always!!!
Hey, Mike, RTV trick is to let it sit until it wont stick to bare finger. hand tight the bolts until RTV dries up and only then torque it to spec. this goes especially on trans pans
Another banger video I can’t wait to do just what your doing
That Yokomo bag thoughhh 👀👀
YESSSSSSSS I LOVE TO WAKE UP TO A VID BY PRIZZAAAAAA
Tbh I think the Works look amazing on the front of the Z. I can image it with a full set of the same rims, bodykit and some nice color and the car would look insane. Great video as always!
thanks for inspiring me to finish my s13.5 coupe. when its done im gonna road trip out west
I woke up an hour after this came out when prizza post you know is gonna be a good day
Another amazing video thanks mike
*woke up with a banger to watch*
you sure it's not just the truck engine in that thing.
btw LOVE watching all your projects it's truly inspiring and helpful.
thanks for the bearing trick , needed that about 8 years ago when I skated to and from school EVERYDAY (rain or shine) 😂
Perfect vid for my lunch break 😸
Love watching the progress on the projects , your lucky you don't have a clean air zone like we do in the UK as any car pre 01 has to pay a daily charge hence why my s13 and s12 are parked up
that mid video skate edit actually is dope asf
0:48 Nah, your force feedback settings reset to default after the last update, dial it back in and it should be good to go
Definitely needed another update 😅
This dude just has the best life fr
Those work wheels off the gloria would be perfect on the z especially if your getting a full set of other ones for the gloria
I’ve been waiting for another video, but I’ve been busy with school so I’ve been catching up 😭
Those front chrome Johnnys looks mint on the z
Beast skate edit. Beast 300zx
I m was never interested in the skateboard bits of the videos. But I loved it as the transition part with the drift in the rain. You should put them more often.
If u wna save on the pads for a daily still some effect on braking but having the slots cut bite in is for braking performance drilled is for heat release against total surface tension
Loved the whole video but just saying I love that blind deck
Hey mike, Love all your videos. Usually vented discs are directional due to the way they’re designed. Generally they’re designed to draw air into and through the disc internal vein structure to improved cooling based on the wheel the forward rotation of the wheel and disc. Drilled and slotted discs are lighter due to there being less material. Hope this helps you to understand brakes a bit better.
The fins inside the rotor are what makes them directional the slots on the rotor surface can go either way
Yes new upload geng 🎉
12:28 PINK! ngl pink would look sick asf
C3 Corvette has stock 4 pistons cast iron fixed calipers and they are heavy! My 09 truck came with sticky passenger pads new from the factory and that cost me fuel mileage
Sick skate clips!! You don’t see this stuff any more
Great man!
You gotta look inside the rotors that the vanes arent directional. Because the slots dont do much heat dissipation as the cooling vanes inside the rotor.
I live in Algeria and I love your videos..the sad part is that in my area we don't have any good cars😂😂😂
keep up the good work bro ❤
As already mentioned the disc rotation refers to the vanes in the inside to help disperse the heat. Could be the reason why the caliper failed if it was getting too hot? Especially being a reman steel item.
But yea it’s very counter intuitive when the grooves “look” better the other direction, think they will bite the pads more when put on correctly though.
I think the rotors were labeled correct L R I think the slots should face forward to catch air for cooling if they are opposite they do not catch air
PizzaMike this is a surprise watching you on a Wednesday instead of a Saturday morning. I still wouldn't mind hanging out with you for one day
Easiest way I have found to verify if you have a pinched line or bad hose is there open the bleeder before you were taking apart. If it's a bad hose or a pinch line, The wheel will immediately free up soon as you open up the bleeder.
And now I feel silly because i didnt watch whole video before commenting, and you mention this at 6:20 😂
It is worth mentioning that you can always just open the bleeders and let it gravity bleed until someone comes along.
That guy in the paint both is definitely ops!
I put your channel on in the background while I'm editing my vids.
i hope you used a torque wrench on your lug nuts cz those rotors are gonna warp again as soon as they get some heat cycles in them.
Torqued with impact 👀
They'll be alright
@@PrizzaMike uneven torque is what causes brake rotors to Warp. Impact definitely doesn't apply even torque
@@DingDongDrift I think it has more to do with a sticky caliper, or heavy braking followed by holding the brakes at a stop
The grooves in the rotor are supposed to go backwards. So that air flow moves into the rotor from the outside in and out the middle
You can bleed brakes by yourself with a vacuum hose/waterbottle with clean brake fluid submerging the vacuum hose.
Open it, pump the fluid and watch the master cyl. The prefilled bottle allows air to escape, and draws fluid back up instead of air🙂
Hope that helps next time!
Your powering streeing fuild is my trans fuild. Thats sooo wild.
Oh dang, gave them away… must be nice
You got that ford death wobble 😂
Board might loose a little pop in the rain but Bronsons are sick and you can just lube em
Try number 2.....OHH MY GOSH. classic car guy moment 🤣
I like how you make videos 👍
My is300 calipers started sticking like yours this last week lol, bro I think you transferred the curse to me
Are there no rebuild kits for calipers ? In Europe it's common practice to rebuild OEM calipers with new seals and pistons
Man love the drift/skate clips what a fucking vibe, keep doing you mike we love this shit!
The 33 wheels look so good on the z
Yo Mike,
I feel you on the needing someone to help you bleed the whip and no one is around to be found. Next time try purge bleeding the you only have to figure out how to keep the pedal depressed when closing the bleeder valve. Also Id argue my pedal has never felt better since I started purge bleeding. Its equivalent to bench bleeding. BTW I love your energy been watching since the first post.
i never thought id get a sick ass skate tage to
Believe it or not I actually was able to install my Prelude calipers backwards and the car still braked. My dad and I were like what the hell are we doing wrong? We bled the brakes for hours lol
Honda’s are truly built different
the instructions for many sealants actually say to let sit on the uninstalled part for5-10 minutes. I started doing that and have had far more success in sealing stuff. good tip for those who didn't know though.
Looked like it was leaking from the upper banjo bolt you took off the first time.
I got kinda lucky on my 1996 Z with twin turbo. This guy awhile back owned it and took such great care of it, super clean paint and body, mint interior but absolutely refused to ever sell that car. Long story short he dropped the car off at a shop for a huge turbo upgrade and passed away while the work was being done so the shop got a mechanic lien on the car and the owner (a friend of mine) called me and asked if id wanna buy it for cheap. So i got a 96 low mileage mint twin turbo Z for $3,000 with upgraded turbo, custom exhaust, bagged on Volk TE37 rims fully tuned...
That's absolutely insane, very sad to hear about his passing, just carry on his legacy 🔥
The bs flip was nice
Hey bud for the future you should sand the pads in a circular motion on the concrete to remove any glazing that might be on the pad surface
I would recommend buying a set of crows foot spanners, would help prevent rounding out the bleeder screws and brake lines
Also, pickup an EZ Bleed kit, it uses air pressure from a tire to put pressure on the master cylinder to help solo bleeding the brakes.
A tip to quickly bleed brakes is to put a see through plast line and hookt it to the top of a sprayer bottle and pump it. Pulls all the air out without pushing the barke pedal for a year.
The direction of the rotors often revers to the inner coolung fins.
Double uploads schedule back on???? 🔥🔥🔥
I guessed the right answer on your IG story, just because the amount of parts was crazy, and just screamed PrizzaMike :p
Mike got me into Nissans, so I bought a silvia, now dude got me wanting a gloria😅
10 mil. And 11.mil and a 8 mil. Are always hiding somewhere 😂
Personally I am not the biggest fan of mismatched wheels but the front does look sick but that rear fitment wheel combo is amazing
The vanes in the rotor determine the placement. Vanes should point to the rear of the car to help dissipate heat. Cant quite tell from the vid but I think they may be on backwards.
