One more secret unmentioned in the video: The Riverman from undertale, who each times tells you a different thing, can potentially say 2 interesting things:

The joke with Heats Flamesman is that he specifically requests that you remember his name. In Deltarune, he even writes a book so people remember his name... yet is still miscredited as Hots Fireguy
ALSO, TWO VERY IMPORTANT THINGS THE VIDEO MISSED.
If you enter the names Kris, Noelle, or Susie into Gaster's character creator, he will remark that you are "ABOUT TO MEET SOMEONE, VERY, VERY WONDERFUL"
And, even crazier, the Garbage Noise plays one more time in Deltarune. If you go to the bunker at the bottom of Hometown, there is a creepy audio file playing from inside it. When sped up by 666%, it is actually the garbage noise

In case you haven't already looked into it, the creepy room is called San's Workshop, unfortunately you can't back track to it at this point, it requires some very specific steps to be taken.
Also I have a similar reaction to Asgore's theme. It's really impressive how Toby has managed to blend really good music with an emotional story in a way that creates these really powerful associations.
If you're interested in the gaster theme/motif stuff, andrew cunningham has a whole hour long video on it, and quite a few other entertaining undertale/deltarune analysis videos

The beauty of DELTARUNE is that it's a game that wants you to ask questions. What is Kris? Who is Dess? Where does this take place? What of the hidden bosses? There's so many weird little things that can lead to huge tangled up cords of connections. There is a ton to explore, but I suggest before any other reaction videos to take a look into the 'Weird Route' of Chapter 2 and the "Spamton Sweepstakes" (most analysis videos may require understanding of these subjects). 24:41 I actually want to point out that in the Geno run, Chara explicitly speaks to the player and tells them that THEY are what gave them power and gave them mission to wipe out everything. It’s very likely Chara isn’t meant to be the player exactly, but can be effected by the player just like Kris and Noelle was

    • @MarcyTheKindaCoolWizard
      @MarcyTheKindaCoolWizard Před 3 měsíci +10

Chara is like a narrative mirror of us, talking to us, and calling us out on what kind of person are we
It's not necesarily accusatory, it's more so rethorical, philosphical questions on how you feel in your position as a player in relation to the world, what drives you to do things specially if you're a completionist etc.
It's like if... eberytime you went out, you put on a costume and acted a certain way, and one day,at home, yur costume comes alive and starts talking to you, acting the way everyone else percieved you and how you played that "character" of yourself and asked you "why?"

Welp, welcome to the club of "People who think they hear Gaster's Theme in every single song made" (There is an hour video though that does accurately point out the songs basically confirmed to have the Gaster notes).
This is a great video that helps explain a lot, however there are some details that are missed:
    - Since you were curious, the "Grayed out Monster Kid" is a Goner like the other grayed out characters based around Gaster. However this one is interesting as instead of talking about Gaster, he talks about imagining a world where "You didn't exist, but everything played out the same without you". This is likely referencing the fact that the Fun Events don't change the game at all, meaning that you could never meet that npc and nothing would change. Speaking of Goner, that Vessel you create in Deltarune, not only is it grayed out too, but the opening segment of the game is labeled "Goner Maker".
    - The Sans workshop you were questioning is found in Undertale. I believe if you reload the judgement all scene with Sans 3 times after talking to him, he gives you a key to that room. If you were to try and get it, it would require a reset, so here's what's in the room. There's a machine and like the video said there's blueprints with terrible writing (could be Alphys or could be in Wing Dings we don't know). However in one of the other drawers, there's picture of 3 people, and on the back of the photo it says "Don't Forget". Which in relation to Deltarune, that's name of the end credits song in Chapter 1 and appears multiple times in different tracks.
    - In both Chapter's 1 and 2, there's a hidden room that can be found between the transition of two areas (Chapter 1 being somewhere in the Scarlet Forest, and Chapter being in the City where you find the Moss). It's random but when you get it, you'll appear in this weird room with a tree in the middle of it. When interacting with the tree, it says that there's a man behind it offering you something. If you accept, the man gives you an....Egg. Then interacting again, it says that the man is no longer there. The "Egg" stays in your inventory even after leaving the Dark World, and you can put it in a location of the town (Asgore's Refrigerator and Sans' Shop). Now you might not think this is related to Gaster at first, however when you put the word "Egg" into Wing Dings, it gives you the hands "Left, Up, Up", which is a movement pattern that a knight piece in chess uses.
    - The Bunker at the bottom of town has a cool detail. If you get close enough to it, it begins to generate a bunch of noise. When you speed that noise up by 666%, you get the garbage noise sound effect, making people think that Gaster is actually in the Bunker.
Great Reaction to it, and if you do future reaction videos to hidden lore of games you'll be able to get a lot better at it.....but just for future note you can go back and forward by 5 seconds on youtube by using the right and left arrow keys and also go frame by frame using the comma and period keys.

14:53 this room is a hidden room in sans and papyrus's house. if you want to get inside, you'll have to do the following.
-play a pacifist run until you reach the last corridor.
-save before you meet sans there.
    -listen to sans's monologue.
-reload the game without saving and listen again.
-repeat the last step until sans gives you the key to his room.
-inside the room, locate the silver key.
-walk out of the house and go to the backside of it.

Another important thing to note about the Garbage noise is that it is called "Smile.ogg". Gaster smiles, Jevil smiles, Spamton smiles, there's freaky smiles in the Queen's Basement leading up to the Spamton fight.
SMILEs are Gaster's motif. Which makes a certain internet funny guy all-the-more suspicious...
...oh yeah, and the Garbage Noise cuts off at exactly the 6 second mark, and if you stand outside the bunk at the bottom of the town in the Light World you can hear those 6 seconds of Garbage Noise slowed down by -you guessed it- 666%.
Gaster being some kind of fallen angel actually totally adds up with how he insane-ify's Spamton. Promising him riches and popularity at the cost of his mind, before tearing it all away from him at the last moment, leaving him damned and insane.

This video is one of my favorites.
I will mention that a popular theorist in the community with half a degree in music theory recently went through and examined all of the Deltarune music to find Gaster's theme, and he found some very interesting things.
First of all, it is very present in Lost Girl and Girl Next Door, Noelle's two themes. That is oddly specific and off putting
If you want to see more of it you can watch the video. It's by Andrew Cunningham, and his stuff is really good
Now you have most of the info available to you! There is the Spamton's Sweepstakes, a charity event based around Spamton that revealed a lot of info about Noelle's past. Unfortunately, I don't know of a good video that documents all of the stuff that happened with that. Hopefully someone in the comments knows one

For your questions about the Weird Route, you can do it on a separate file and it won't effect your other save. At least not in the game as it is now. Who knows what will happen if you continue the Weird Route through the whole game.
Also, a very, very interesting fact about the save files. Depending on which of the three files you are using, it changes the contents in Asriel's bedside drawer slightly during Chapter 1. That is currently the only difference between the three files and I can't help but think that it's going to be used for weird meta puzzles later in the game.
This has also led people to think that each file might be a slightly different universe. Who knows really

@fizzip0p Yeah Earthbound do be an albeit awesome, lengthy RPG X)
As for Touhou Project it is a pretty amazing (albeit highly hard) franchise. You know how Toby made Undertale on his own ? Well While impressive, he did had little help from some other artists (Notably Temmie Chang) and used Game Maker Studio, a pre-existing engine.
On the other hand, outside of some of the spinoffs, ZUN, the creator do each Touhou Games, from coding the engine, coding the games, creating and drawing the characters and most of all the Musics on his own, (literally this time). He also, just like Toby Fox has a policy of letting people's make what they want with his characters and work, leading to multiple Touhou Fangames that sometimes even sell on official platforms.

I haven't seen the video you reacted to untill now and I enjoyed this a lot. The passion for this game and lore is hard to compare to any other game. I like that undertale and deltarune can stand on their own, but leave it to the player to figure things out if they want to. It gives so much more life to the world when you can discover things trough small details. Exploring these games was something special.
There are so many good videos and theories for this game and undertale (since they are so connected) that are worth watching. From video analysis on the musical motifs and how they relate to the deltarune lore (A Musical Mythbusting Odyssey from Andrew Cunningham), to hidden storylines that recontextualize the whole story (All about Chara: The hidden protagonist of Undertale) (Who is The True Villain of Undertale?), and meta story analysis (What was so good about UNDERTALE, anyway?). Obviously that's a lot of videos, and you can't watch everything that gets recommended, but I felt like sharing some.

You mentioned saving over Kris' file, and I have an interesting tidbit about that. Let's say you save over Kris's file and play through the whole game. Then you decide you want to play it again so you delete the file and start from the beginning again.
When you get to the save point, Kris' file won't be there. It'll just say "Empty."
Saving over Kris' file is a permanent decision that cannot be undone under normal circumstances. Even if you try to play again on a separate file, it'll still be empty. The only thing that can restore Kris' file is a fresh install of the game

im surprised that the video doesnt have one of the most important connections between Gaster and Deltarune. At the end of chapter 1, when you can walk around the city, there is a bunker to the south. First I want to point out another instance of Garbage Noise in Deltarune, the bunker past the church! It plays an extremely slowed down version of it, which, knowing Toby, is probably significant.
Additionally, at around 16:34 you ask if maybe Sans and Papyrus are not from Undertale, and there's actually a lot of really interesting theories around that! A CZcamsr called Jaru does a lot of theory crafting about Deltarune (many of them are very very wild and unserious, but he makes compelling arguments) and one of his theories is that Sans is from Deltarune.
The main evidence supporting the theory is from the genocide ending of Undertale, so i wont go into it if you wanna keep away from spoilers, but I just wanted to address it cuz I hadn't seen anyone else lol. Its really cool and goes into the backstory of Sans and Papyrus, and Gaster too!
I just have to yell about this for a bit, but in an email Toby Fox sent in June last year, there was a Q & A for Papyrus. The very last question was "What was your life like before you moved into Snowdin?" (shout out to facadecake). Papyrus says that "There was green grass, and..." before being cut off by Sans, who ends the questions. I haven't really seen anyone talk about it, but to my knowledge, there is no grass in Undertale. However, there is green grass in Deltarune. The stuff Sans brings up in Genocide helps lay the foundation for this theory, but that email kinda confirmed it in my eyes.
Anyway, sorry for the long rant, I've just been keeping my thoughts to myself for so long lol. If you wanna know more about it feel free to ask me or watch the video Jaru made on it, I just wanna make sure I don't spoil genocide for you if you plan on watching a playthrough of it.

Thank you for the suggestion i'll chech out Jaru! I don't think i've heard of the Papyrus Q&A before, i'm sure this drove the community up a wall when this happened - the grass comment, San's secret workshop - the photo of the three people (the fact that it can only be seen by a player who has encountered an NPC that speaks of a "Suzy") it seems to point in a fairly similar direction!

I don't know why when people talk about tracks with something similar to Gaster's theme, they forget about "Darkness Falls". I could literally give it a second place between all the Deltarune tracks for it's first part being this similar, I swear.
For those who don't know this track.. Many people miss it in game because they think that the option to "Give up" in the game over screen should take you back to the menu like it does in other games. Instead, you'll see this phrase: "Then the world was covered in darkness.", after which "Darkness Falls" plays with an empty black screen. Also the second part of this track shares it's leimotif with "Faint Courage", which is the game over theme in chapter 2.

You can play the weird route on a different file and it won’t seemingly affect the pure file. But, we don’t know for sure if there won’t be any effects. In Undertale, if you played a Geno run and then a pacifist, the game remembers you sold Frisk’s soul and corrupted Chara. So the ending is different. In Deltarune, if you finish chapter 1 and then go to chapter 2, and then return to chapter 1 to defeat Jevil, if you return to chapter 2 you can pick up the item you missed out on. So other save files do seem to affect things. And also, the weird route does corrupt Noelle to an extent, which is similar to Chara. We just don’t know what’ll happen since the game is unfinished.
That said, due to some clues in chapter 1 and 2, it seems like a different save file is literally a different universe. Can’t speak for what happens if you overwrite a save from slot 1 to slot 2, but if the universes are truly separate you could play weird route and have it not effect the other playthrough. Basically, we don’t know. Sorry!

My favourite moment of ALL Deltarune is this one, and I like to think of it as the time the creation met his creator without knowing:
    - Kris stumbles upon a seemengly normal tree in the dark world -
    - we check the tree -
Kris: there is a man behind that tree. - we conviniently cannot see it - He is offering me something. - we say yes - I take it. It's an egg. - we check the tree again - There is nothing behind that tree. - we fucking leave like nothing happened with a fucking egg that God gave us as a gift -
Also I love how both Kris and the Riverman talk about Gaster as a man, not a monster. It fits with the theories that speculate that Sans is/was a human because of the fact that he bleeds in the genocide rute.

There's 2 things that were passed by in this video, that are important, well lots of, but I know that is to summarize better the info. But in particular. One is that those gray sprites called Gaster Followers have all appear in the world of deltarune, actually they are in the video, the bird thing that's in the library, the man whose car was crushed, the only one missing to appear is the one that resembles monster kid, which is called "Goner kid", and it's curious because the vessel creation process is called "Goner maker". The second one is related to the sans connection with Gaster bc, there's a hidden OST called "The song that might played when you fight sans" and it's speculated to by Made for pacifist/neutral fight against sans, which will play instead of megalovania. (Also people used to think that this song was chara's theme and the other belongs to sans). But in this particular song there's a clear leimotif that uses gaster's theme.

I don't really remember this video, so I don't know if it is mentioned later, given that the topic has been brought up recently again, but yeah, people have speculated about Sans and Papyrus coming originally from Deltarune, and then one day appearing in Snowdin.
If I remember correctly, something interesting was mentioned in one of the recent newsletters that made people think about this again (Toby came up with different levels of newsletters after Chapter 2 release, and they are mostly seasonal, but you should have seen a rare april 1st newsletter that a random amount of people got for choosing to get notified about literally anything Toby related...)
I kinda like the idea, but it is kinda confusing, because of how Deltarune seems to be literally created by Gaster after the events of Undertale, but then there is this time and space confusing as always nonsense, so I guess that is possible
I don't know if people already told you about the room with the blueprints, but if you walk behind Sans and Papyrus' house in Undertale, you can find a locked door; and to get a key you need to reach the last corridor during Pacifist, and then reload the dialogue with Sans a few times, without obviously saving the game, or else it will be gone. He will give you a key after a few repeats, and that is how you can unlock that room

    • @Cinnamowo
      @Cinnamowo Před 3 měsíci

Gaster, Kris and Knight strange connections with each other are really confusing at first, since a lot of people don't believe that Kris is the Knight (or that they are more likely A knight), but we can say for sure that Gaster is not the Knight. Their motivations are completely different, there is also a lot of interesting phrases from Gaster if you manipulate your save file in different ways from copying to deleting it entirely (I think you have to do it before you complete chapter 1?), and he is also pretty much interested in the entity (also known as the player, the soul that "possesses" Kris) pushing forward, with him speaking during Chapter 1 game over screen
The question becomes "why tf is Kris interested in what the Knight does?", which is opening the Dark Fountains.
What I also love about Chapter 2, is that Spamton actually talks to Kris directly from the very beginning, and I honestly missed that for a long time. There is a whole interesting video on CZcams specifically about his "Hyperlink Blocked" line, that may be something more than a random joke, and is actually a one consistent thing, that keeps getting blocked
And then there's is the whole charity event with Spamton that revealed a lot of Noelle and Kris lore, which was honestly such an obscure dream, and that's after I was one of those people who witnessed Gaster hacking Undertale twitter account

Oh yeah, the GASTER followers are grey versions of already existing monsters in the game, like Monster Kid, the one monster who buys a donut from Muffet, or that one who only appears in Deltarune but not in Undertale (it's actually showned in the minute 17:50). The one who talks at the minute 7:25 is the more interesting one, because it says some things like:
    - "he shattered across time and space. I'm actually holding his face right now." - as he talks through it -
    - "I can't say very much about him. After all, it's rude to talk about someone who's listening."
Wich also implies that either way GASTER is omniscient and omnipotent, or else that he can exist inside his followers consciousnes. The second is the most accepted option, as it explains how they are capable of remembering him when the whole Underground seems to have mysteriously forgoten his existance. It would also explain why in the genocide rute when Sans goes to sleep in the middle of his battle, the zzz that come out of his head are not written in Comic Sans, but rather in ASTER.
Also fun fact: the flowers of the true lab (the same of the king's garden and Flowey) are from the family of the ASTERaceae.
Also another fun fact: the 14:55 room is Sans's basement, wich you can find behind the house of Sans and Papyrus, but is locked with a key that you can only find inside Sans's room (concretly inside the trash bin). I don't remember what you needed to do to get inside, but I do remember that inside his room Sans has a pile of socks, his bed make a mess and a mini tornado in the corner (god knows how or why).
Also ANOTHER fun fact: when you call Papyrus with the phone, depending on the location, he will tell you something differently, normally happy memories or stuff. However, there are two rooms where he deliberetly doesn't say anything: The Core in hotland (in where he seems to have a sad face) and the Gaster room (in wich it directly hangs up, wich is more f*cked up when Undyne tells us when whe first met her that Papyrus always responds to the phone call, especially at the second try no matter what).

We see them leave for the Library before we enter the Closet. Ralsei does not mention another Dark World opening while we are inside, but says later he feels when one opens.
This means, the Computer Lab Dark World opened while we were walking from the School to the Library. We were controlling Kris the entire time. So Kris literally physically can not be the Knight. They just open a Dark World of their own after Queen basically tells the party how to.

    Fun Fact:
The garbage noise from the entry 17 and the cellphone in deltarune are just Muffet's laugh but slowed down by 666%

This is even stranger considering that Muffet was some kind of fan character added because of a kick starter donation (I think?)

Youre lucky that you joined the fandom late. Waiting several years for chapter 3 had made the fandom go insane

If you want to see how deep the rabbit hole of hearing Gaster's theme in OST goes, I suggest checking out Andrew cunningham's video on the topic, he goes pretty in depth with it, but manages to explain it in a way that's possible to understand without studying music theory
