"How many AU's ?"
Oh...oh you poor, poor soul.
Its infinte, every idea can be made into a au
Just like Marvel what if
She doesn't even know about ATs! Alternate Timelines, Horror Sans and Dust Sans are from alternate timelines not universes, and Error even is an alternate timeline sans
I know that, I just wanted to say it. 😊
@@jamesrogers5353 Not to mention the aus of aus. Seriously. Like the video said, you can take any two aus and mash them together to create a new au. There are infinite aus and infinite stories. Man, I love this game and this community. You have to take the bad with the good, and while there is plenty of bad, there is plenty of good too. Heck, I made my profile picture of Underswap Sans, or as the community has collectively decided to name him, Blueberry Sans.
fun fact: Fresh!Sans isn't actually a Sans he is an extradimensional eldritch parasite that thinks it's a Sans(basically the same as Eldritch!Sans except he isn't mute even though most of us wish Fresh was mute)
did the creator ever like explain why this was the case. Or like have we just been rolling with it
wdym "thinks it's a sans"? isn't it a parasite that took over the body if his universe's sans?
@@SumiYokaiyes
(The parasite doesn't have its own au, its an outlier like ink and error. It travels to various aus taking over sanses and feeding on their souls. The 'fresh' persona is the parasite trying to blend in and doing a poor job of it @@SumiYokai)
Not anymore Fresh isnt related to undertale anymore (same with Error)
If you want to watch Underverse PLEASE watch it in this Order
1. Underverse Season 1
2. Xtale
3. Underverse Season 2
Yeah she definitely should react to it this way and also before watching any of Underverse she should also react to everything you need to know before watching underverse/xtale for a better understanding of the multiple AU's that appear in it
@@juan-si6vknot necessary, I watched Underverse knowing basically nothing about any of the au's, and I had a great time.
@@feeplemurphy4618 it's not absolutely necessary but I think it would help her understand some things in underverse like who is core frisk or what is the omega timeline or who is dream, who is nightmare they are never explained in underverse and she would be missing context
One thing that has stuck with me through my early undertale fandom experience is the AUs. I havent interacted with it all for a good few years, come back to watch Underverse (and see where the fandom is at), and it's like I just opened a previously locked filing cabinet. And after watching wolf's video, it only then settled in how insane this all actually is and the obscene amount of obscure knowledge I actually possess. _Does anyone here remember Futuretale???? or Underkeep??? OR GZTALE?????_
All three of those sound super familiar, but it's been too long for me to know what they are for sure.
I Remember Underkeep But Not The Other 2.
Oh GOD GZTale, that's a name i haven't heard in YEARS
@@phanton4305 ITS STILL RUNNING I THINK???? The creator gave it to someone else
15:36 You need to keep petting lesser dog until his head is out of the screen
8:03 I'm so glad to hear you did this- that's the real magic of Undertale for me, it knows what you're doing and treats you as on its level (or at least Flowey does). The whole Toriel fight is meant to make you accidentally kill her, because, like you said, she's too important to die, right? But the game doesn't take her importance as a good reason, you stabbed her, and now she's dead.
And you can, of course, use your complete power over the world to go back, the game can't stop you there, but it does everything it can to at least guilt you for it. Even if you just rewound time, you still killed her, and Flowey, having been in the same exact situation as you countless times, calls you out for it. I love how much hidden dialogue this game has!
One of the reason why pewdiepie’s playthrough is one of my favs online is that he kills Toriel, and then goes back cuz he felt bad. So he gets that dialogue and is spooked. Considering how the old fanbase was so trash that they would spoil the game for ppl so they couldn’t play the way the game intended, Pewdiepie was one of the only ppl to play the game “right”. And it made his playthrough more special for it
27:30 Yes! Dreemurr Reborn is indeed a fangame in development! Well, it's kind of been on hiatus for a long time. The creator had to pause work to focus on their real life but after the release of Undertale Yellow (and their appearance in the credits), they have confirmed it's still a thing however they don't expect to fully continue work on it for a while.
As for Sans' whole thing with timelines, unfortunately you've likely been told a lot of fanon interpretations. Sans doesn't have determination, or at least, with concrete evidence. He seems aware of them, clearly but he doesn't seem to have any control of them. He's shown to have known Alphys and of course, there's the connection to Gaster so it's headcanoned a lot that he was a scientist, or at least knew of Gaster's work.
As for everything with the fandom and AUs... I'd consider myself a veteran, this game and its fan content has literally fueled half of my life, even now. I've seen horrible and strange things, but at the same time, I've seen wondrous creations people make. I've met amazing and fun people, a string of connections leading me to my online found family now. I even contributed my own AU, even if it didn't go very far. It was the stories, the art, the animations... That inspired me to create my own work and even now, made me choose to pursue game development for college. I think there's always shining stars in the mud and while the fandom has cooled down a lot from the AU frenzy of 2015-2018, fan content is still made at a rapid pace and I think it kinda goes to show how inspirational it was.
I need to mention I don't know Toby, but I think he does love all the fan creations we've made even if he doesn't interact with it. This was essentially just an Earthbound fangame at first and to see fan creations of his own work spawning must have been incredible. I remember somewhere he mentioned that he hopes that one day, someone will create something incredible inspired by Undertale.
He supported UTY when they were being pushed around, stating that all fan work should be encouraged, and hell, he was actually the first one who suggested the tag for NSFW content to separate that content from the actual game tag. I think the video was a bit misleading with that ending quote's tone about Toby's life being changed because that can be read in a variety of ways. Either way, I'm sure he's proud of it all, even if he doesn't quite know what to do about it... like a father who doesn't quite understand his children's drawings.
Sorry if this comment went on a tangent but I think since I've been around the space long enough to see its ups and downs as it evolved over time, I wanted to get my own thoughts on the matter out.
14:35 That IS Onionsan!
YES!! This is my favorite video essay on CZcams and I'm so happy to see you react to it and love what you had to say about it!
I was also really excited to hear your interest in Underverse because it is genuinely SO GOOD and I always love seeing new people react to it!! If you're interested, I actually made a video that explains everything you would need to know about every AU included in Underverse, since there are a few things about them that Underverse itself uses in its plot but doesn't explain super well (I hope that doesn't come off as just self-promotion or anything, I swear I would be recommending a video like this no matter who made it lol, I just happen to be the only one who has). Glitchtale is a pretty good watch too! Its story has some flaws, a few of them pretty glaring, but it has a lot of really strong and well done emotional moments that I think you would appreciate. Though I should mention, there has been some drama somewhat recently around the creators of Glitchtale and Underverse (mostly Glitchtale, but Underverse's creator was involved too). The only reason I bring it up is because I know if you react to either series you would probably hear about it in the comments anyway, and I just want to say that I was following the situation decently closely while it was happening and I personally think that it's a lot more nuanced and complicated than a lot of people might say. All that is to say, I don't think any of that stuff should deter you from making videos on either series lol.
Anyways, I hope you continue to feel welcomed into this crazy and awesome community, and I'm super excited to watch your future playthroughs and reactions!
also 51:32 oh hey i know that guy
OH HEY! I know You, pal!
@@arwar5265 Haha I still never know how to react when people recognize me 😅but thanks!
51:32 HEY I KNOW THAT GUY TOO!! That's so cool!! It must have been pretty awesome to see yourself pop-up in the original video!! I'm super excited about Underverse and all that it entails, it seems like quite a few people recommended your video is well, which is awesome! Your video will definitely be my first stop when I start delving into Underverse, thank you!!
@@fizzip0p Aww, thank you so much!!! You'll be the first person to ever react to one of my videos (that I know of anyway), can't wait!!
And yeah, it was CRAZY to see my video pop up there lol, like, I'm in possibly the most well structured Undertale video essay on the platform?? What???
3:30 just some extra info, sans is related to the royal sciences somehow, and is said to have known about research on timelines and stuff. Also sans is an incredible judge of character, that’s why he is the judge of the underground. Both of those show why he is able to tell how many times you died, he is literally reading your expression and making an educated guess. And with teleporting, it’s likely a quirk of the skeleton brothers and their magic, like how papyrus is able to fly Canonically (as shown in his spare post-fight cutscene) sans also, with his knowledge of quantum physics, which evidence points to him having studied, he might be able to manipulate his magic across space and time, yet not be able to use saves, as he would have no reason to be able to use or manipulate them.
I think his teleportation is a unique ability he’s got. We don’t see Papyrus do it, but he does mention that he can jump long distances and really high (as if he’s flying). So that could be the ability that Pap has that Sans doesn’t.
Considering his study into physics, his ability to teleport may be tied to that. He can’t save cuz he doesn’t have the determination. The only monster w/ determination to refuse to die is Undyne.
Considering the theories in regards to him and Deltarune, he might be able to move across universes. But that’s just a theory for now.
Gonna say this now: Glitchtales plot is genuinely awful and kills off characters willy nilly and has so many non-undertale based OC’s I forget which ones which. Every character’s motivation makes absolutely NO sense, and halfway through it just becomes “Magical Humans, with some undertale characters half of which are dead!”
Good animation tho (when it’s not traced)
Lmao. Generic youtuber? Generic hater. Sure it's not the best ever but it's frickin cool as hell, and the humans are all pretty fun too, but it's always based around the umdertale characters. Always has been.
@@yogurtofthemultiverse2200
Sans - Dead
Alphys - Dead
Mettaton - Gone from the show after his big fight scene
Has napstablook even showed up in the show once? Same for mad mew mew and other side characters.
When I watch an undertale fan series, I expect a good amount of undertale characters!
@genericyoutuber8098 this is valid! But that's only two dead undertale characters, technically three if you count frisk (the only one I actually disagree with)
@@genericyoutuber8098 Mad dummy*, it makes sense for Mad Mew Mew to not appear because she didn't exist when Glitchtale was made, the only way for her to fit in is just as a background cameo, which is lame
Honestly my problem isn't the show, it's entretaining and that's all I ask, but with Camila after the drama that happened
Now I demand a reaction to Underverse to be next :P
There’s a good introductory video that helps to speed up your Undertale AU exams. It’s called “Everything you need to know befor watching Underverse”. It explains every relevant AU that appears there.
"but sans's powers should be explained somehow right? right??"
actually i think sans should be able to just do crazy stuff like without elaborate simply 'cause is funnier and match his character
this random lazy skeletons is just able to somehow teleport trough time and space so he doesn't has to walk to the bar WHICH IS A 3 MINUTES WALK FROM HIS FRONTDOOR
It is literally magic, all monsters have magic. This was never something mysterious other than who made the weapons.
he doesn't teleport through time tho, time still moves sans like everyone else, he teleports through space tho obviously (why didn't he teleport himself and everyone else to outside the barrier, is he dumb?????? smh my head)
I love thinking about all the theories and mystery of Undertale, but sometimes I wonder/ suspect Toby just did some stuff because he thought it would be neat and expected the suspension of disbelief to kick in within the audience!
@@mariotheundying sans does have relation to the timeline, he was eluded to work with gaster who was “scattered through time and space” when he “fell into his creation”, and he understands when frisk resets by their facial expression, at least eluding to him meeting someone who could manipulate the timeline before
And when the spotlight drops on you and sans to talk about the talking flower in grillbys, everyone’s sprites, including grillby’s fire, freezes, insenuating that he froze time to talk to you about something just for your ears
@@mariotheundying my personal belief is Undyne went to Alphys to try the determination experiment again after you went through the genocide route, and Sans had already succeeded experimenting on himself from the leftovers of gasters work
Or perhaps Alphys or Gaster succeeded with Sans fully because skeletons are closer in biology to humans and have physical mass (it isn’t confirmed that sans’ blood is ketchup, it could actually be blood)
If you pet lesser dog to the limit, then his neck stretches to meet Frisk, and thus the guy making snowdogs starts making his snow dogs with really long necks.
Actually, Lesser Dog was the one making the dog sculptures!
If you would like to watch underverse but need more context you can watch phil gaimz's everything you need to know before watching underverse as a summary of aus that are involved and their stories, then you can watch s1 then the mini series Xtale(The prequel that clears up things in s1 but also spoils some surprises), then s2 which is still going
But love the reactions! Can't wait to see more!
You should definitely react to all of Underverse it's animation is an actual fucking anime.
I'd avoid Glitchtale though. Glitchtale's creators got ousted for a lot of sketchy, VERY ILLEGAL WITH MINORS stuff.
I would personally not avoid glitchtale, because regardless of Camila, it's still an awesome series.
@@yogurtofthemultiverse2200 Only problem with that is that you're giving money to the gal, no other way to watch it tho and any other way would also be wrong imo, so it's a personal choice
Yeah. Even ignoring the sus behavior of this woman, you decide to watch or think about Glitchtale's story, the story falls apart at some point.
@@yogurtofthemultiverse2200 Personally, the only bits of Glitchtale that's worth watching is the first episode, and the battle with the skeletons vs Betty
UNDERVERSE IS PEAK
Please watch "Everything You Need To Know Before Watching Underverse/XTale!". Even though Underverse does little introductions to the major characters, but more or less they are about the roles of these characters in the story of the multiverse is at the moment, instead of who they actually are and what they've been through.
And yeah, others in the comments section have already said this, but... The best way to watch Underverse is probably in this order:
1) Underverse Season 1 (has a full-movie version).
2) XTale (also has a full-movie version).
3) Underverse Season 2 (not finished yet).
I love these reactions cuz you actually talk about what you're seeing and provide your own pov :)
dont worry about pausing, if they want to watch the video uninterrupted then they would've watched the original video
If you're looking for high-quality Undertale fanworks, I highly recommend Inverted Fate! It's a sprite comic (for the most part), meaning you can stop and pick it back up at any point, and though it starts off similarly to any other Undertale fanwork, it eventually becomes something I can't even begin to describe! A few of the battles were even officially made playable, meaning you can experience them in fangame form as well!
i could write whole paragraphs about how much undertale means to me. but i will just say that it was a major part of my childhood and i still cry listening to its OST and beating the game for the 1000th time and love to see new people get into this game after nearly a decade after its release
As a UTMV girlie (UTMV being short for Undertale Multiverse) who got into the Undertale Fandom back during its peak and drifted for a while back in 2021, and thus saw the divisions in the fandom into different subsections, the breadth definitely interesting. I entered after Underswap and Underfell were given to the community to be group owned - though I should note that Underfella has returned to tumblr since the SuperEyepatchWolf video was made and they've been uploading about original Underfell things which is a win - but I was there when you'd say the core of the fandom was sort of 4 big aus plus all the extra little pieces. Those core pieces of the fandom at the time? Undertale itself alongside Underswap and Underfell, but Outertale joined them.
I can remember the shift after the designs for Swapfell Alphys and Undyne came out, and slowly it replaced Outertale as the community picked up the concept and filled out the rest of the Swapfell cast when their creator did not, since the au was to be Alphyne (that being the ship name for Alphys/Undyne) focused. Eventually, though, they did come back and design more characters, most notably the skeleton brothers, who are/were definitely the most popular in the fandom. This left the fandom made designs without a place to call home, and thus Fellswap was made so they could still exist while still respecting the original Swapfell's creator. Then, while my gaze was off towards the early parts of the formation of the UTMV community - with Error, Ink, Core!Frisk, Fresh, the earliest parts of Underverse, and the original blog posting about Dream and Nightmare - and other aus, the part of the community that leaned more towards those core aus alone started to I guess divide over different new interpretations of Fellswap, which is why there are multiple.
It's kind of crazy to me how big the Undertale community got that there's hugely popular fandom spaces that just... don't know much about each other because they're so vastly different. I've already mentioned two, but I know for sure there are more. What's interesting is that depending on where you are in the fandom, some characters might have different nicknames. It's nothing as bad as back in the day where nobody in the same space could even agree on one character's nickname, but it's more like having a fandom accent. Horrortale Sans is one easy example, because depending on where you're from, I've seen names ranging from Horror, to Axe, to Mars, and more. Sometimes it's even a language difference. I've noticed Dusttale Sans is referred to as Dust in large swaths of the fandom, but as Murder by creators who seem to be from the Asian part of the fandom.
This is... a long comment, but I hope you don't mind my rambling about even a piece of this fandom's history because it fascinates me deeply, and I know it can be harder to learn things about it if you weren't there at the time. It has been almost a decade since it all started, and there's plenty that will have been lost to time. Not to mention the au wiki is kind of terrible from my understanding of it. (Once heard a popular character's creator complain about having to fight with wiki mods and editors about edits they themself made being erased for "not being canon to the character")
long comments are always welcome, thank you for your perspective! I laughed when you mentioned fandom accent, that's such an accurate and easily understood analogy for the vastness that you've described!
unrelated but funny thing you said UTMV, since I recall there's a multiplayer Undertale MMORPG fangame that had the same name. It's already shut down though, due to internal drama and the original owner kicked out of his own project.
Oh hell yeah, Supereyepatchwolf is the goat!! Definitely watch more from him. Even if you don't react to more of him, genuinely you gotta watch his other stuff. I love it sm.
Great reaction, Undertale changes lives ❤❤
I highly recommend that you watch "everything you need to know before watching underverse"
And from there move on to underverse season 1
I feel like everyone is talking about all the undertale stuff so I just wanted to mention I really like the imput you give throughout the video. Its great hearing other's veiws on topics I find intresting, so just thought I would mention that.
Yeah idk what it is with youtube but for some reason they want people to use the 'k' key for pausing and playing instead of the spacebar. Sometimes the spacebar works but usually you have to use k. You can also use the numbers on the keyboard to skip to sections of the video, with 0 being the beginning and 9 being the last section.
In regards to Glitchtale, the creator is in hot water due to reasons you can probably pick up in other comments. I doubt we'd mind if you skipped them, but I do want to point out how monumental the series was to the fandom before the drama unfolded. If you're just in the fandom for the experience, I'd recommend watching the first two seasons of Glitchtale (which is basically everything, admittedly), just to have context on them. Though, whether not you do recordings of them is up to you. But if I were to recommend a video on that, I would recommend "Why Glitchtale is Objectively Awful", which is a spoiler-filled analysis of the series by someone who was a huge fan of Glitchtale while it was releasing. So... it would probably make more sense why I would still recommend watching the series even despite Cami's situation.
In regards to OneShot, I do believe you have a point on Undertale's characters popping out more than the cases in OneShot, though I think something that helps is that Undertale had a bit of a handicap with the Homestuck fandom. Homestuck was one of the biggest internet phenomena of the 2010s, and its fandom was ravenous, which is somewhat observable in the early undertale fandom. Toby Fox was a composer for Homestuck, and also advertised Undertale through the Homestuck fandom, which is where he got a lot of the backing from. When Undertale released, I think Homestuck was on a hiatus/close to ending, so the fandom ended up giving Undertale a shot, and helped give it its literal overnight success. Of course, the rest of Undertale's fandom likely came in from lets plays and fan works, but I think like, the first two days were the homestuck fandom throwing the game into everyone's faces. OneShot to my knowledge didn't come from a preexisting fandom, so they had to earn their fans through the way most other developers do.
In regards to Underswap, this isn't particularly important, but Underswap and TeamSwitched!Underswap are very fundamentally different in design from one another. TeamSwitched felt there wasn't much nuance to the swapped personalities of the original Underswap AU, and opted to actually swap -positions- instead. So the characters are still more or less their original Undertale counterparts, but in different roles. It sort of disappointed me since I liked the Underswap AU, but I was still able to enjoy my playthrough of the TS!Underswap demo, and think what they did with it was pretty clever. Whereas with Underfell and GG!Underfell, while I'm unaware of either AU, I think GG!Underfell is fundamentally similar in design to Underfell.
Of course my only introduction to Underswap was a Drop Pop Candy animatic (which has been privated at some point, whoops) so it's not like I've seen a huge part of the AUs as a whole.
In regards to Fresh Sans, I could be reaching on this, but I think he's based off of a character in Gravity Falls. I won't say which one as that would be a spoiler if you haven't watched the series (and I mean, the ENTIRE series), but I think if you saw them, you'd see the resemblance.
Gravity falls is pretty old so I think it won't be a big of a spoiler (what character is fresh sans based on?)
@@Gladki_Lucas Well maybe, but there's a difference between mentioning something that happens in the first episode and mentioning something that happens during the season 2 finale.
I'd like to be careful, just in case fizzi hasn't seen GF and would like to. But finding out who Fresh Sans is based off is pretty easy. It's right in the name. It's also listed on the Undertale AU wiki for Fresh Sans.
@@Riverbui oh, ooooooh, I finally got it!

Many well wishes upon you friend, and as always thank you for your kindness!
That is completely fair to be giving a nice slow leak/ drip to this kinda content, feels like a better more enjoyable pace regardless
finally i was waiting you to react to this video so much
Honestly, you seem so sweet! Great video and i shall watch more!
I'm 20 and the Undertale was a big 1/4 ( even a bit more of my life ) and if you take of the first five year 'cause I was a baby it comes around at one third of my life.
I'm not hyperfixating on it anymore because after 5 or 6 years I've managed to watch the majority of the more popular stuff and it got replaced by something else.
BUT even still it was the biggest hyperfixation I had. I had a lot of interest throughout the years (Hollowkight, MLP, Steven Universe, Helluvaverse and other stuff) but only 4 cemented hyperfixation : Minecraft 3-4y, Undertale 5-6y, Sanders Sides 2y and One Piece 2y-present that sliped back now that SS vids are slowing down.
Don't get me wrong I'm still enjoying the fandoms of all previous medias (that's something you can't never get rid off) but I think it's a testament to how big and such quality and quantity present in the undertale fandom that it had me entertained for half a decade.
Most surprising is how alive the Fandom sure it's not in it's golden years anymore but despite being almost a decade old at this point things like Underverse still going out through the years and the fantastic "nintendo direct-like" underevent that the comunity does now that promote fancontent like Undertale Yellow that made quite an impact this year.
All that to say even tho I'm not really active in the fandom anymore I welcome you to the fandom and you wish to engage with it I'm sure you'll find a lot of things to enjoy
51:56 I have to say, after reading so many different Undertale AU fancomics and playing so many fangames, what he's saying is actually true. After being in this fandom for so long I just can't view this game the same way I did before deep diving into the AUs.

If you're interested in doing more Undertale reactions, I would recommend "Undertale remembers" by Merg
This is unrelated to Undertale, but when you described how you were optimistic to a fault, I realized that you need to play the Danganronpa games if you haven't already. Those games prey upon people with that mindset, and oftentimes will leave the biggest impression on those people.
Thank you for the suggestion! I've never played Danganronpa before, but I would love to!

56:24 The cookie incident, there are actually not evident to show that the artist was harmed by the Undertale's fandom for her fanart, but the fandom theory it to be and somehow except as fact now and spread it everywhere. Also i love your reaction.
32:51 wait lancer can teleport yet more proof for your sans is from deltarune hypothesis
11:29 I want to add onto this point by saying that there's conversely also from my experience watching people play usually at least one character in Undertale that fundamentally irks each person playing it. That I think is really showing the mastery in character writing. Challenging your player to morally gripe with your characters is a great way to naturally bring that person to eventually understand them. Even if they disagree with Alphys's process for her experiments, Asgore's treatment of the underground, Toriel's helicopter parenting, Papyrus's social status obsession, Sans's inaction until everything is gone, or Mettaton's captialist regime, a player can still enjoy their experience with Undertale and even end up liking these characters. Disagreeing with someone's flawed actions doesn't have to create hatred, and I think Undertale's characters really do a great job at demonstrating this. None of them are perfect. But they're just good, and that's where I think the real part comes in as described here. Most people have messed something up or hurt someone in or out their life at a certain point. That doesn't stop them from changing their behavior though and turning a new leaf. Good people make mistakes because they don't know what good really even is sometimes, not because they are intentionally terrible.
Also an aside: There is actually some developments made about Sans and what might be up with him? In particular, the way he teleports. So you know the Deltarune door you use to fast travel that has flames coming out of it? It's pretty much the exact same design as the door leading to his room. I'm not going to say anything concrete because the game itself has moments when this would obviously not make sense (his teleport gag where you meet gyftrot, taking a "shortcut" with him, etc.) but there is still a through line there that we might get a resolution to in Deltarune. This of course conflates Undertale worldbuilding with Deltarune but it's reasonable to assume it might connect with Sans and the door assets being directly reused with minimal changes to them from Undertale itself. With a few other clues strung together like his quantum physics joke book or secret code sequence that leads conveniently towards some suspicious blueprints and a machine, we can also at least infer that he has studied timelines. Sans will never comment on or remember a reset of a save file, Flowey does though because of his artificial determination. That line mentioned in the video at the start of Snowdin is actually slightly misinterpreted here, because it's more implying that the human themselves literally turns around before Sans even approaches, similarly to how strange they act throughout Snowdin with Sans taking note then too. It's an exclusive scene to the geno run as far as I know, not tied to a reset necessarily so it's implied that Frisk on the geno path acts on their own similarly to Kris in these scenes without player input.
Sans always makes observational comments about the human's actions when it comes to reading what their status might be, but it's never with total confidence. A few characters like Toriel or Asgore (some others do it too, these are just most notable examples) also have 'deja vu' recall moments in their dialogue when the human has either killed them or the human has died to them before, so the way Sans goes about this is actually quite observable as something that affects all monsters or perhaps just the stronger ones. He appears to simply be aware of these happening and uses them to understand more about what's really going on in the moment. He also talks about timeline anomalies directly in his fight dialogue. But even then, Sans himself was having trouble tracing where it came from exactly. That is most likely from observing Flowey's behavior, their interactions seeming to get violent at certain points according to Flowey's account on it. While some of this is theorycrafting and has some holes, I hope this at least sparks some thinking about it! Characters like Sans or Undyne actually have a ton of unsolved mysteries about them, likely because geno where they're highlighted more can just seem like the killing route when it has so much more to offer narratively than just being the dark underbelly of the game.
I had the exact same first experience with Undertale and I have been head first in the void ever since…
It's a bit of a weird thing to say but, i kinda hope that this channel doesn't blow up since, i love these channels that are just, niche, just really nice small communities where the youtuber can interact more with the viewers so they can both be at a more similar level, we're all human after all, and thats kind of lost in bigger communities and youtubers. So yeah, i hope for the best for this niche community, and for ya, much love everyone! 💛
Fizzi please tell me you are checking out TS! Underswap soon!
she said that was the next fangame she is going to play after deltatraveler
15:54 You get the snow dogs (at varying lengths) depending on how much you pet Lesser Dog (the one whose neck gets longer the more you pet); at maximum pettage, this is what you get, lol (I don't remember if you see them after you clear Snowdin, or if you have to beat the True Ending first)
I had the same experience with Toriel and Flowey! The only thing I knew about the game before that was that it had good music, and that moment really defined my expectations, got me hooked.
I think it would be cool to contribute to 'the pile' one day as well, just quietly tuck a fanfic in there somewhere. At the very least it can be good practice.
You should definitely watch "Who is the true villain of undertale?" And it's follow up, It is a great video that completely recontextualizes your view of chara and i think it would be a great watch
I can't speak for everyone's experience, but there was absolutely a time when Undertale was totally subsumed by AUs. I love Undertale and have been in and around the fandom since the early days, and I remember being really disinterested in the fandom around that time cause there just wasn't anything there for me. It felt like everything was AUs crossing over with AUs and big AU multiverses where you needed to study up on 30 different Aus just to have the opportunity to engage and man I just wanted to talk about Undertale.
Thankfully, Deltarune chapter 1 came out a while after and it felt good to have the conversation a little more centered, but even then the Undertale side of the fandom wasn't what I was looking for. More recently that even that, Undertale Yellow completely revitalized my interest in Undertale as a whole. And it might just be me, but the whole fandom feels healthier. We've all had a few years to mature, there's less drama, there are far fewer Markiplier incidence, and we're all still insane but we've learned to channel that into the fun kind of insanity. Life's good.
don't forget how aus like TS!Underswap and diffrent takes on six fallen humans are popping up, instead of just "edgy sans oc fights". undertale fandom really improved since then. don't forget about Deltarune aus either!
@@wix-1-3dgcjt6 yeah yeah yeah, you get it. And all that's not to mention we're most likely (but not guaranteed) to get more Deltarune next year.
I think part of the reason there have been so many Sans fan fights is at least in part cause Sans is the most interesting final boss, at least from a gameplay perspective. This might be a hot take but, IMO Omega Flowey and Asriel are not great fights. You can't die in Flowey's human soul sections and Asriel is more of a set piece that looks more intimidating than it actually is. Sure they are perfect from a narrative perspective, but they aren't great in the gameplay department.
So if you want to make a cool fight, Sans is one of the more obvious places to build off of. And with the endless supply of Sans-ian characters out in the fandom there's plenty of inspiration to draw from.
And hey! I like Sans! I love him even! More than is probably healthy. But boy did AU creators like to make AUs around Sans and completely neglect the entire rest of the cast. It's not hard to see why so many people are so burnt out on him.
And I think part of the issue with UT fan games (and AU fan games especially) is that, like, part of what made Undertale so revolutionary was how subversive it is. But when you try to tell the same story with the same message but with a different coat of paint it just, doesn't hit right. At least to me. It's part of why UTY griped me so hard. It subverts and complements Undertale so damn well! I'm an especially big fan of how it handled it's Geno route.
Same with TS-Underswap and Deltatraveler! They aren't just "Undertale, but a little different this time"! They're telling their own story's in their own way and that's fantastic!
@@dextergibson4871 The part about "trying to tell the same message doesn't hit right" is SO TRUE. AUs should have a diffrent theme/message from OG Undertale. AUs like Underfell would perfectly fit the theme of "do you think even the worst person can change?", and Underswap could have a theme of "despite all the changes, it's still you". That's why i loved Undertale Yellow's theme of "What is justice to you?": it wasn't just another meta commentary about rpg mechanics.
the way i see about sans is that his powers doesn't come from controlling the timeline or something like that
but just a dude that knows really well how the battle mechanics works and the world and magic in general, Sans can perfectly be the monster with the most proficient magic usage in the entire underground, maybe even more than ASGORE himself, which explains how despite being the "weakest monster in the Underground" can be the hardest to beat
51:39 First season of Glitchtale is good to watch. Second season has good animation but story is REALLY bad.
that is if you ignore the tons of shit that camila cuevas has done
@@scrltflm5715i think i remember she was in hot water but i never heard what exactly it was about. do you think you could enlighten me?
I had thought about Undertale being the source of AUs as well as Deltarune, but between all of the AUs, the chapters of Deltarune and it's own AUs such as DeltaTraveler, Undertale runs the risk of becoming the Soul Edge of it's own series.
Soul Edge was the origin point of the SoulCalibur series, with SoulCalibur itself being the sequel to Soul Edge.
However, the 3rd game was SoulCalibur 2. The current one is SoulCalibur 6, which in truth, is Soul Edge 7.
I recently seen a reference to Soul Edge as "possibly an early entry into the SoulCalibur series."
Again, it was the origin point.
Another UNDERTALE essay you should watch I think is What was so good about UNDERTALE, anyway? (A mildly deranged retrospective) by Andrew Cunningham, it's REALLY good
You should really watch “The Choice” animation. It’s really well done and a great taste of the animation community for this game. Whether you watch it on this channel or on your own time I would highly recommend. (Watch with subtitles btw)
I wouldnt worry about saturation. Fundamentally lets plays and reaction content are the same thing. Im still pretty excited for the rest of oneshot as well
Deltarune,Undertale and Undertale Yellow all have changed my life for the better and to this day I still watch playthroughs all of those games to this day 👍🙂
56:05 about the toxicity in the fandom well it has been quite extreme in the past really but now its a lot better i havent encountered much toxicity myself but every fandom is toxic to some degree some more some less
I love your ace jumper/sweater (depending on your nationality)
I haven't watch this video, I'm gonna first watch it with you and later go to the original
Out of all the things I think you'd like to watch; I think you would love the Undertale/Deltarune analysis vids that Dorked did.
first, while spacebar is supposed to pause and unpause on CZcams, it rarely works, however pressing K does pause and unpause consistently so that's what I use and would recommend.
second, Super Eyepatch Wolf got ONE thing wrong in his video, being that he said "Cross Gaster" and "Cross Sans" are from "Crossverse," when the actual names would be "XGaster" and "Cross" from "Xtale"
big tip for pausing shortcut
designated key for pausing is "K" and while pause is working too... its heavily inconsistant as you seen yourself
soo yeah
when you realize deltarune is an official AU, toby pretty much said "screw it, if thats what the fans like ill make one too"
Cool thing, Deltarune was conceived first. Toby had a literal fever dream at one point, decided it would make a cool story, and started writing. Over time, he figured he would get some experience under his belt and gauge what people think about his work and he made Undertale. Now though, Deltarune is intrinsically linked to Undertale. Toby's dream game is now linked to something he made to help make his dream come true.
47:04 i recommend too reacting to disbelief papyrus its one of the first well known papyrus fangames/animations (yes you can play it but its hard so yeah) it may be outdated in the terms of now but its still a classic nevertheless (im saying that as im in the fandom for years now)
your life is different when you grew up in or around 2016 undertale fandom era.. to quote a meme i saw: "you wouldnt last an hour in the asylum where they raised me"
If you watch Underverse (PLEASE DO, IT'S AMAZING) this is the order in which i recommend it as a person quite deep into the fandom:
1. Underverse Season 1
2. XTale
3. Underverse Season 2
(I know that there will be people saying watch "everything you need to know before watching underverse" or to watch certain comics before season 2 episode 0.7 part 2, but those spoil the fun and surprises honestly, so i recommend watching those after catching up with the series)
On the subject of the "Sans can simply teleport" thing, you think it's silly for Undertale fans to simply accept that that's the answer, but there's not really much of a choice. I've seen plenty of people come up with their own ideas, their own headcanons, for how Sans's teleporting ability works. But that's all it is: Headcanons. People have scoured through and devoured every line of dialogue in the whole game, and the info we have on Sans's teleporting ability? Ehhh... He just can...? There's a lot of dots you CAN connect if you THINK they're relevant, like how Papyrus treats Sans pranking someone "across time and space" as being totally normal. Is that a throwaway joke, or does it mean something? Is it even related to his teleporting ability in the first place? Is it an actual teleport, or a time-stop? That's a question we genuinely have to ask, because Sans IS clearly capable of stopping time (as shown in Grillby's). So are his "shortcuts" related to it? Are they even the same as what we're seeing when he appears in different places on the screen during his fight? Is it the same thing that allows him to appear to be in two places at once, just barely far apart enough that you can't have both "Sanses" on screen at the same time, seeming to imply he's actually just teleporting really fast? We genuinely do not know. And any answer that you can come up with is somewhere between a theory and a headcanon.
Undertale is a deep game with a lot of little details in it. There's a lot of worldbuilding if you look for it, but at the same time, us veteran Undertale fans are well-acquainted with the idea there just aren't answers for a lot of things. I mean, that's true for any series, really. How often does a series with magic in it ACTUALLY explain how the magic works in-universe? It usually just "is". And that's the case for a lot of stuff in Undertale, especially as far as Sans goes. It doesn't help that the monster in question doesn't seem keen on telling you very much about himself. Compare to Alphys, whom we know pretty much everything about. How and why she did what she did, how she met and made a body for Mettaton, her mistakes, her response to said mistakes, the fact that she lied to Undyne about the seaweed you hide in throughout Waterfall being under "scientific protection" when, in actuality, she just uses it to make ice cream... Everything.
Sans and Papyrus? Uh, well... They're said to have simply "showed up" one day. And, uh... Well I mean, there's gotta be a LITTLE more information, right? Sans may or may not have a history with Alphys? Sans seems to have an interest in science of some sort? He's aware of the power of determination? Not a lot to work with, really.
the original version of one shot , you actually had only a one single shot and it you mess up its over , in transitioning to steam they betray this premise and the game's identity . with the dlc outright shattering it
HECK YEAH
40:46 she is down bad for papyrus
Yes you can play Dreamurr Reborn, it isn't complete tho.
33:04 short answer quantum physics book
You really need to react to the animations of GlitchTale and X-Tale, they're gorgeous.
someone really underrated video but very cool
While this is about undertale
I do hope you watch more of his videos, cause he's awesome
💗💗💗
Watch Underverse too!
I think the reason sans can reset stuff is because of his connection to gaster, but thats just me.
Pls do "TS underswap"
FINALLY!!!
If you'd like to react to some more Deltarune theories, I highly recommend HalfBreadChaos and their content. Super good stuff
The AUs started somewhat interesting, then it was things like literally "Everyone is edgy" or "everyone is a representation of a dance"
GUYS CHAT GUYS GUYS GUYS ITS HERE
ONESHOT MENTIONED
27:30 No, it was never actually completed.
44:43 Congratulations, you've just summarized a very large portion of alternate timelines.
47:23 Not technically twice. One is original Underswap, the other is TS!Underswap, the canon fangame of which is still in development.
Despite all that, undertale still somehow feels small? Like you're in a small, grouped up fandom, but at the same time, there is a lot of content.
Oh you like undertale?
Name every AU(don't)
Sup :3
No need to stop talking as long as You pause the video so you don't miss anything.
Flowey did lose his ability to save and load files when you arrive, aparently only one being can have control over the timeline at a time, presumebly the on whit the most determination. This is demonstrated when you lose your own savefile once photoshopflowey apears. Sans abilitys while weird, can not be savefiles as you have yours available at all times, they are just some other weird abilitys simingly disconected from determination as he shows no signs of having it.
Sans says on the genocide run that he found out abaut the timelines thanks to some report on an investigation he was doing, It's implyed heavely that Sans used to be a cientist of some kind before finding abaut the timelines, and the discovery of said anomalys aparently disturbed him enough to stop. In the same speech he also proof that he don't really remember previous timelines or knows who was causing it as he believes you to be the cause of every anomaly despite flowey causing most of them before your arrival, he is just good at picking on details and making educated gueses.
