  • Sabres: Embedded takes you inside the 2020 NHL Draft with Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams and Buffalo’s front office. From a scouting meeting to a pre-draft chat with Bills general manager Brandon Beane, you’ll get insight into the Sabres preparation and strategy for selecting Jack Quinn with the 8th overall pick. Cameras also captured the drama of trading up for J-J Peterka, and the targeting of Jr. Sabre Matteo Costantini in the fifth round. Sabres: Embedded is presented by ConnectLife.

The thing with Rossi is that he reminds me of Sam Reinhart. So even if Staal stays for one year. Reinhart should move to 2C and jack Quinn should play the wing somewhere in the lineup. It makes no sense that a 2nd overall Center selection Sam Reinhart is playing on Jack Eichels wing. Makes no sense at all. So yeah we could’ve taken Rossi but with Quinn we can then move Reinhart to C and have a nice top 6 balanced. And then a 3C in cozens as he powers up

Curious if the Quinn pick had anything to do with Crowe getting a title change. Hoping that pick wasn’t the product of understaffed, rookie mgmt, but just a deeper dive into the player. Olofsson was their top prospect in 19-20’, but here we are now begging he isn’t a Kotalik, & that he score in more situations than just one-timers on the PP. Scoring in different ways is a heck of a trait. Quinn is in some ways like the the Bills’ Rousseau pick in that there is one year of success to go off of.

      - Second in points per game (2.14) behind left wing Alexis Lafreniere (2.15) of Rimouski of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the projected No. 1 pick in the 2020 draft.
      - 58.5 percent, fifth among OHL players with at least 1,000 attempts
      - Rossi was held without a point just four times this season.
Here are some scouting reports from www.mynhldraft.com/2020-nhl-draft/player-profiles/Marco-Rossi
      1st Report:
Marco Rossi - Dobber Prospects - Sept. 30th: "His high hockey IQ in all three zones combined with an unmatched work ethic means he is able to force turnovers and create plays in transition at a high level."
      2nd report:
Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - Sept. 21st: "He plays in the middle of the ice but knows when to take the outside lane. And he’s the best defensive forward in the draft. Some evaluators point to his height and question whether he’ll stick at centre, his natural position."
      3rd Report:
Chris Peters - ESPN - June 30th: "Rossi has become oddly polarizing. His 2.14 points per game in the OHL ranks fifth among players 18 years old or younger over the past 20 years, but many have rushed to underplay that production because of the quality of his team and the relative weakness of the OHL's Eastern Conference."
      4th Report:
Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - June 25th: "Highly competitive, super smart, easily coached and a strong lower half that should make up for perceived size issues."
      5th Report:
NHL Centreal Scouting Analysis - NHL . Com - April 3rd: "He's a highly skilled offensive player who is equally dangerous creating plays and finishing scoring chances. Rossi is an excellent skater, solid on his skates and difficult to knock off the puck, and he can make plays off the rush or in tight areas. He demonstrates a strong cycle game, can extend plays in the offensive zone and can beat defenders with speed or with an impressive set of moves."
      6th Report:
Jordan Deshane - The Hockey Writers - May 11th: "Don’t let his shorter stature fool you. He’s built like Sidney Crosby from the waist down. He is hard on the puck and cannot be knocked off easily. In addition to his elite offensive game, Rossi plays hard in the defensive zone and has a sound all-around presence while also playing on the edge like the much-beloved Brad Marchand."
      7th Report:
Ryan Kennedy - The Hockey News - May 11th: "Rossi can pile up points while maintaining a responsible side. He plays the right way and if teams avoid him because of his height, they’ll regret it his entire NHL career."
So don't take my word for it take the scouting reports words about it.

So as part of a group project I’ve helped make three models to project junior player’s point per game game values over their first 3 nhl seasons. Quinn is projected at .561, which isn’t bad. But Rossi is the SINGLE HIGHEST PROJECTION in the model at .787. Perfetti is third overall at .751. They said it’s hard to project, I have a group of guys that did it. Just something to think about.

Wonder why they even play games. They should just award the Stanley Cup to the team that analysts say has the best roster on paper.

Dude Rossi had little to no part in Quinn success especially on the power play where they never played together. Clearly you don't watch junior hockey or even seen Quinn highlights because if you did you would see that Quinn created most of his own goalscoring chances

@@NewVegasNerd you can look at any stats and projections from any public scouting service, counting stats, advanced stats, they all say Rossi is the far superior player. Quinn is good but Rossi is amazing, Perfetti is very good. There’s no way you can watch Ottawa 67’s game and deduce that Quinn is the better player

@@dereklasker5350 Yeah, and everyone said Josh Rosen was going to be a better Qb than Allen. Lmfao. People still treat what the "experts" say as gospel. The truth is nobody knows for sure who's going to be better than who in pro sports. Scouts and GMs know way more than any of you armchair GMs. Pretending that you KNOW Rossi will be better than Quinn is dumb as hell.

@@NewVegasNerd first of all it’s two different sports so you can’t compare them like that. Also Allen had a 2% chance of becoming a star and he hit it. Rosen failed due to attitude issues and no help around him. Besides, the only advantages Quinn has over rossi is size (which has been proven over the last few years is not very important) and shot power. Rossi is better at literally everything else. And I’d say I’m a bit more than an armchair GM given that I’m currently working for a college hockey team
