    It’s videos like this that make me truly appreciate CZcams and Google. I didn’t know I had a Sargent knob, but it has to be one of the trickiest ones to remove. Thanks for explaining the mechanism!

    FINALLY! Thanks to this video I found that the doorknobs in my house use THIS system, and not the typical "push in the pin and slide the knob off" type.
    Couldn't have done it without you.

So that know got cut, sawed, hammered, & chiseled out of that door. Now there's another door with that same kind of knob that I need to changed out & this video is an absolute life saver!! Thanks for this! I cut off the handle with an angle grinder to try to figure it out and still had no clue on the second one. Until I typed in the brand I was watching several videos that didn’t help. I’m not sure how one would figure this out on their own. I have 20 of these to replace and now I know the trick!

    Mine was a different situation. I was locked outside the bathroom and the knob was a no-key knob (whatever that's called. It doesn't have a keyhole. So I guess it shouldn't be locked from the outside.)
    No matter what I do, I couldn't find a latch, or a screw, or whatever, and all the youtube tutorials couldn't help me. So I took a 10lbs dumbbell and smashed the knob with it, and it fell right off. Haha

    just remove the interior side knob. often there is a pin going through the lock into the latch, remove pin, then remove latch and the rest of the lock will fall

    Rather than grabbing the collars with plumbing pliers (which gouges the finish), look for a little hole on each collar, insert a pin punch or an allen key, and rotate the collars to loosen them by pulling them around with the pin.

  • @PapaGleb
    @PapaGleb Před 9 lety +2

    What if you turn the knob before unscrewing that collar and align the holes then use a screw driver to depress that wire?

    Mine Sargent lock had like 9 coats of paint on it. I finally got it loose enough to see the wire pin. I pushed and pulled and played with it for over an hour. Still no luck. So I pulled out the hacksaw, and sawed the darn thing off. It took a while, but I am replacing it anyway.

    I removed the door handles and whole locking mechanism but the last part of the lock is stuck in the door. There's no screws on the plate and I tried putting a screwdriver in the center holes and prying but no luck. There's a hole on the right side, a hole in the center, and half a hole towards the hinges. Wtf I can't find anything anywhere about this.
