RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
Wow this is one of the most professionally produced Eurovision videos that I've ever seen
Agree
Holy crap the video quality is amazing
Thank you so much
02:37 "Something is happening in my stomach idk" xD
Omg where did you find that line xD
genius, love your vids
One rule for the final: always watch who's performing in 17th. A large amount of winners over the last 30 years have performed 17th.
I wish I could use a tamara in my maths exams 😔
She's only booked for about one week during the year for me. You can sure book her too!
So when they do the recap with the small clips, they should reverse the order to counter this effect and counter some of the negative first half effect.
Even the video description is so funny, your truly the best Eurovision CZcamsr
Finally a esc video that is actually interesting and researched, good job, this is way more interesting than basic tops (even though we need them)
So this is why in Sanremo Festival, the order of the performances changes every night... Now I see...
Ah I remember year 2011 when Paradise Oskar was representing Finland. It was the first time after Lordi that many Finns thought we had something special to send. He did well in the semi-final and placed 3th. In the final he had to perform 1st, and then the end result was 21./25. I still feel it was mainly because of the running order.
One important thing to remember, even the winners from the 1st half need some help to win. For eg. when the EBU wanted Turkey to win from the 4th position in the grand final, it was the only time I can remember when the reprise of all songs was backwards, starting from the last to perform.
they did it too with 2002
Ok but can we talk about how much effort went into this-
Got curious, and as a swede searched for a few of our songs that didn't do well (since everyone always complains that sweden is placed in the top whichever song we send). Anna Berghendal, who didnt even reach the final played as the 6th performance. Malena Erman, which placed low in the finals, played as number 4.
i feel bad for laughing at "it doesn't even have legs"
You, sir, just appreciate quality humour, much appreciated :')
This video deserves million of views
Thanks so much, haha, that's a dream!
They also tend to place more popular song towards the end to increase excitement. So it kinda skews the statistics a bit
9:09 is THIS WHY MY GUY MÉLOVIN DOESN'T GET THE APPRECIATION HE DESERVES???????
you're damn right
"turks hate this trick!"
omfg💀💀
When?
"Turks hate this trick" everyday I always end up loving your vids even more
Safura's 5th place was the highest placement the first running song has placed. I did the math once and the average winner's spot in the running order was 19th. Mans being the earliest in the running order at 10th.
@Jan Stian Gundersen since 2000 was the year I started
watching the running order of 2021, and realising that the two favorites are in the last places of the two semi finals, makes me think this is completely true
6:00 Basically a Hungarian shopping list.
😂😂😂 and Serbian LOL

Well actually, this video made me happy about having juries, to balance the running order's influence on success.
It's better to look at it as a song festival than a competition. It's very rare my favourite songs do well so that's what I do anyway.
The best position to preform at is 27th,.
Over all of Eurovision's history the song preforming as 27th has an on average finishing position of 3rd!!!
But that's because it was only used in 2015 🙃
Okay I'm shook! Can you imagine how many hours did he put in this? Like is there any eurovision content on yt that can be compared to this? Thank you Ran for making these, I hope you get much more attintion, then a Eurovision channel usually gets! Love from Hungary!
This comment seriously touched me. I'm so happy to read this. It was really a lot of work (months) because I needed a lot of preparation. I might be not a big CZcamsr but Comments like yours give me so much motivation to do more and this gives me honestly way more of a feeling of an accomplished goal than a having a lot of views. Again, thank you so much and I wish you a freaking great rest of the week!
Lots of love back from Germany ❤️
Why did I find out this genius video existed just now and not months ago... What a lovely vid! I subscribed!
Thanks a lot!!!
he has finally returned - my serotonin level has risen
great video, your quality improves every time, im super impressed and proud of you!
You gotta pump the serotonin level up! Thanks a lot for your lovely feedback! ❤️
Ayy, the best Eurovision youtuber is back, we were all feeling very uncomfortable without you! Video is stellar, just like always! To be honest, the running order should be randomised again, just like before 2013, it would give everyone some sense of equality. Thanks for speaking about this, say hi to Jamala, John, Tamara and Severine from me!
The good old Bricker is back too! :D Sure, random draws of the running order would definitely bring back certain equality. But I believe that it may destroy a bunch of songs, for example 5 ballads in a row wouldn't be the best thing to watch. I get the point that they want to make "every song stand out" but it will always be hard to believe that everything was decided in an "neutral way". Thanks for another comment and yes, I Wil definitely greet Johnny, Crimea Woman, Tamarus and Paprika lady for you
BRICKER. For some reason I cannot comment on your channel anymore XD
I only wanted to talk to you on a different social media platform, you got Discord, Instagram or something? :D
@@RanESC Yes, I noticed, already left a comment for you on my video. :D
@@therealbricker Where exactly is the comment tho? I cannot find it or you can just paste it in here? #Quality
I also feel like playing the recaps in reversed order during the final could help as well.
I think it depends on what half is more competitive
If all the good songs are in the second half, for instance, then the one good song that's in the first half instantly becomes the most memorable song of the night
Like in 2019 where all the songs that did pretty well with the televote were from the second half and Duncan's and Sergey's were the only songs from the first half to place high with the televote
This is insanely well produced
This is the Most random but Well researched Video I have ever seen
I will just add that people tend to have more free time towards the end of the week, so viewers of the first semifinale are less than those of the second one. Which means that in the finale, there will be more potential voters for those who performed in the second semifinal.
No, actually first semi finals have more voters because people are waiting for 12 months to have Eurovision back, and they are excited. Thats not the case for the 2nd semifinal.
Astonishingly high quality video that had me laughing so much and gave me much to think about. Well researched! Love your voice, comedic timing and the cutout 'helpers' 😅. Praying that UK gets a second half position this year haha.
Amazing, well worth the wait!
Your best video yet!
Damn the quality of this is amazing! UNDERRATED channel
MY LORD WHAT A GREAT EFFORT, thank you Ran!
Absolutely great video! Best I've ever seen on eurovision topic
I think the reason why songs early in the running order never win, is because producers are convinced that songs in those positions are not gonna do well and purposolessly give it to hopeless entries..
I think it's a little more complicated than that. All the countries still have to draw lots of which half of the show they'll perform in so there is still a random chance that a number of hyped up entries will share the same half and producers will have a hard time how to place them apart, as well as figuring where to put in breaks if prepping the stage for one act takes longer than 45 seconds, among others.
it is not true that they never win e.g. Herreys " Diggi-loo Diggy-ley." won ESC 1984 performed at number 1
Wow, you did such a great job! This video deserves much more views than it has by far.
I'm in tears, awesome video Ran!!!!
Thank you so much ♥️
Thanks CZcams for schowing me this video!!! Love your video’s they are quality and fun aaaaahwww love it keep doing this!!
So happy to hear that you enjoy my silly vids! ❤️
Also: I remember you! I once left a comment (think it was Armenia 2020) how much I enjoy watching ESC Reactors who not only "like everything" and also give constructive feedback! :D
What a funny coincidence that you now saw and commented on this video! :^)
I think we'd get along well!
Wanna chat on Insta? :D
@@RanESC hahah oh really (well I have to admit 8/10 times I just like/love a Eurovision song idk why like if its not an eurovision song I wouldn’t never have listened to the song but when its from Eurovision its has something why I listen to them over and over again ;)
Yes I have added you on Insta!
this is proven even now 😭 (eg. Czechia - closed the sf and got 125 tele pts and opened the final and got 5)
I think in 2nd half the atmosphere in the arena is more energetic and relaxed, so it’s easier to make more successful performance.
I love this so much, congrats!!
This video deserves more views
damn dude! really, really good video!! laughed really hard at tamara
That’s why I started to pick my top ten before the actual contest. I already know who I’m gonna vote for this year if nothing changes.
THE VIDEO QUALITY IS IMMACULATE 😍
Good job man!
Thanks a lot! ❤
Your humour is goldd
Great video!
I still think that the best song will win whereever it is positioned, but when there are small differences between the songs, the running order will decide(and I think it gonna happen this year).
This video was SO INTERESTING !
I haven’t laughed so much about a eurovision video yet!
It’s amazing
I have always wondered if Måns would have performed even better if he would have been positioned dead last in the largest final ever.
OMG this is amazing video! We need positive people! Thank you! God Bless!
Impressively great work has been done. Thanks for the video
FINALLY YOU'RE BACK
The effort put into this video wow
8:06 Might not change the order they're performed in BUT there's a country that attempted doing it, and that is Latvia 2003, that aired the recap of songs in reverse order than the running order, lol
Afrika paprika... gurl, BYEE XD
You have the best sense of humour
This video is so amazing
this is interesting i have never thought bout it
Thank you for the video! I love this!
It would be interesting to know if the running order has an influence on the jury vote!
omg king is finally back!!!! :3
yeah still remember when i thought triana park was qualifying 100% bcs they were 18 in the running order of the semifinal and then they ended last xjhshzhx great video you have a new subscriber❤
Omg, yes she was amazing! I was really sad when I've found out that she didn't qualify. YAY, NEW SUBSCRIBER, WELCUM TO THE JUICYNOODLES FAMILY ❤
Great Narration and script!
Also, certainly approve the 1:48 musical choice 🖖
Why am I discovering this channel just now?
(Btw, I love the input of the "Think About Things"-instrumental as background music.)
This video is amazing. I have no words to describe how cool it is.
You deserve an award or something :D
hmm thats why my favourites always end somewhere in middle 😂
I would be really interested next to see if songs internally selected by countries perform better than songs that win national finals (or vice versa) I think that would make for a very interesting video!
Easy solution - just have everyone perform last. Problem solved!
this video is amazing omg u just earned a new subscriber
❤️
UR BACKKKKKKKKKKKK. VERKA FLAKES THE BEST
Amazing video ❤️❤️ I love the animations and it was perfectly explained. Maybe if they had more people decide the running order (like 100 instead of 5) it would seem less biased. Obviously that sounds insane and that number can be decreased but having 5 people something so impactful is unfair. Maybe they could get the delegations involved (idk 😂). Anyway - great video 👍
So happy to read that you like this video!
1.I would divide the final draw in quarters instead of half
2. In 2003, the televote recap started in the 26 and end it in the 1, and look the results.
Maybe they should try that again.
lmaoooooo "fresh sad from the oven"
YOU ARE THE BEST
Great job!
Great video
It's a nice video, but it's actually possible to calculate the effect of starting position on placement using regression analysis (and if it's statistically significant).
It's a lot more accurate than looking at percentages
This is so genius😂😂😂
The problem with the serial position effect is the assumption there is that you are seeing/reading the list for the first time. So once you take away the list and try to remember what's written on it, the tendency is to remember only the last ones.
In Eurovision however, that isn't the case. By the time the grand finals night happens, the jury and to some extend a majority of the voting public would have already seen the entries beforehand (either during the semi-finals or even earlier than that, during the weeks leading up to the shows - either through social media, youtube, music videos, live performances, news etc...) So come grand finals night, the public and the jury more often than not would have already come up with their "favorites." So regardless where you place their favorites whether first or second half, they're still going to pick them. The grand finals show basically just acts either as a "reinforcement" or "deal breaker," either the grand finals performance "reinforces" their favorites or "takes a little bit away" from their favorites. But other than that, both the public and jury would already have had their sights set on their "favorites."
By the time the grand finals night, the juries already voted. Their vote is based in another performance that takes place before the broadcast final.
RANNNNNN YOU ARE BACK I MISSED YOU MY JUICYNOODLE
YEEEEEES, BACK IN DA HOUSE, BITCHES. LOVE U, JUICYNOODLE ❤️
omg i love ur Videos uwu
Wow what an effort you've put in making this! which programme do you use for animations btw?
This video is SO good (happy esc fan noises) ^^
*happy ran screeching*
but to be true to the serial position effect, maybe put them in 3 groups instead, first 9, middle 8 and last 9. how would those data compare to the first and second half actually
damn good video though, i was planning to do research on this too but kept delaying it
That would have been interesting! But also harder for the statistics. I went with the first and second half because it's a more integrated term in Eurovision. Anyway, thanks for the thought and thanks a lot for your feedback! :]
What we need is data on the voting pattern of the televoters.
Sure, there are 200 million viewers at home but what's the likelihood of them picking up a phone to vote? Or vote numerous times?
Hardcore fans are probably less than 1 million but if they are more likely to vote, or to vote numerous times (you know how obsessed our kind), then the issue of them not knowing the 25 songs within 2 hours is non-existent.
This video though😍
hahhaahah that Tamara part killed me :D
Good editing
I would play recap in opposite order compared to actual order…It would lower the disadvantage of preforming in the first half
Great video and lots of research haha:)
THANK YOU PATRICK ❤️
They should play the recap in the reverse order
This year it is proved once again that running order indeed matters. Malta got the 2nd highest televote in her semi-final performing 16th and in the final she only got 47 points? Things didn’t add up.
Maybe they should decrease the amount of finalists to 20 to make it more likely to remember them all.
Btw amazing video production!
That could sure be one way! And thanks 😊❤️
That doesn't seem fair especially to the countries already struggling to qualify. My country has almost always qualified from the last few places. Especially if we see more countries entering eurovision then the chance of qualifying is even slimmer. I think this is a problem we cannot fix.
@@23Zakira Yeah, definitely not fair especially when the Big 5 are automatically in the finals.
