I have NEVER seen a door line up with the surrounding jamb like that, or seen a jamb surround offset like that to accept the slide bolt. . . Was this set up? Most slide bolts are useless and require other hardware to make it work right.
No this wasn't set up, it actually lined up :)
What kind of drill did you use?
Why is it placed so low?
What ruler are you using?
I've never used a drill before, how can I know the drill hole is the right size to the one I need? Do I just estimate it?
Use a slightly smaller drill bit than the screw.
PropertyDecorating thanks
Nice
Why at the bottom of the door? (This American has not seen that much in these parts.)
You can fit them anywhere on a door, in this case it was as added security as it had locks in the middle of the door.
So fitting extra bolts at the top and bottom adds more security.
PropertyDecorating well said. I did the same thing to my door for extra security for my pets.
can these be fitted to aluminium or composite doors?
If you can get a good fixing should be ok
Why did you use such small screws
+Nancy Hillyer They are the ones supplies with the lock, you can always substitute them with larger ones if required.
Those never work properly in school bathrooms
How do fit a bolt where the architrave sticks to far out?
The architrave was cut away.
The architrave was cut away to allow it to fit behind.
put longer screws
what lock is that? and where can I acquire this at?
It is a sliding bolt, any good hardware store will stock them
Can it be fitted to a uPVC door?
