    In this 30 day challenge, I decided to go vegan and try my hand at veganism to ask "is veganism healthy". I hope you guys enjoy my vegan challenge and can get some information on whether you should go vegan too.
    Have a great week guys! Cheers.

      @@juliamatic3994 when you eat, are you getting enough carbs (eg brown rice? pasta?), protein (tofu in a curry? black beans stew?), vegetables? (like kale salad or broccolini? peas? zucchinis?) and are you eating enough nuts and seeds (you could sprinkle crushed almonds or walnuts on the stew? almond nut butters? eg) and fruits as well (smoothie, bananas, apples? pineapples?)!!! I think the way to feel satiated with vegan meals is to double up on proteins (tofu scramble with brown bread and mixed greens or brown rice, black beans and lots vegetables! and sprinkle on extra protein - sesame seeds or chopped up almonds) and you'll be hella full!

      @robinette8199 Před 5 lety +24

      13Gladius 2 the only really high sources of vitamin A from animal products are liver and other organs, which most meat eaters don't even like or eat on a regular basis. There's only small amounts of vitamin A in eggs and dairy. But there's plenty of fruits and vegetables that are high beta carotene (carrots, sweet potato, squash, greens, mango, apricot, and more) which our bodies convert to vitamin A. So anybody getting a variety of vegetables and fruits shouldn't have to worry about vitamin A deficiency :) and most vegans know that.

    I enjoyed the video but I want to add one thing - being vegan can be unhealthy. I'm vegan and I was a junk food vegan for a while. Most corn and potato chips are vegan. Oreos are. You can be allergen free junk food at the grocery store and use egg and milk substitutes to bake tons of unhealthy sweets. In the end being vegan isn't about healthy, it's an ethical thing. The term for a healthy animal-free diet is plant based. :) PS- Dr Greger is a fantastic source for what foods we should be eating daily to meet our nutritional intake goals.

    I'm very, very pleased to see that you admitted that it was your own fault that the first week didn't turn out great. So many people try a vegan diet for a limited amount of time without having any idea of what to eat, and they go hungry, become tired, weak and unfocused, and then they go to CZcams taking bad about the vegan diet, feeding in to people's misconceptions that "you won't get protein enough" and so forth. If you on't feel great on a vegan diet, it's because you're not doing it right. Simple as that. Either you're not eating enough, you don't take the right supplement (always take B12) ir you jut eat vegan junk. Because as with all diets, you can do it in different ways and not all ways are healthy. If you do vegan right, it's true - it's super easy. Here's an example of what I might eat in a day: Early morning: Smoothie with spinach, banana, mixed fruits, oatmilk and various this-and-that like superfood powders and whatnot. Later morning: Oatmeal/chia pudding with berries, banana, ground flaxseeds, ground hempsseds, alomds and walnuts. At mid-day I'll have two peaces of brown/rye bread with cold potatoes on, along with a huuge bowl of salad (with a lot of broccoli and kale) with avocado and seeds. For dinner I'll often have rice with lots of veggies, and either beans/lentils/chickpeas or some "meat alternative" or tofu. During the day I'll snack on fruits and carrots. I'm NEVER hungry, lol.

At the beginning just as I started, I was 8 stone 11 and now almost 2 weeks later I'm 9stn 3 - so quite a rapid gain. I'm attributing this to all the carbs. I've had a near-constant stomach ache, bloating and wind. I'm feeling better than I did at the beginning of the diet change, guts-wise, but it's still there. I intend to persevere for another two weeks. Hopefully, I stop gaining weight or it's going to be a nightmare to have to lose it all again! Thanks for your video. Always works when you just make something light. You eventually learn that being Vegan there's a plethora of so many more food options. @@rainbowvibes9086 not everyone can digest well beans and vegetable protein, diahorria and digestive problems follow. Your cramps and their weakness is from lack of magnesium and iron.
      Big problem for many vegans is that their energy mainly comes from carbs and consuming wayyy too much sugar. Those give you peak of energy instantly which does not last long and over time causes all kinds of problems.
      Veganism also is not for everyone because people's body types differ. People don't understand that.
      I myself think balanced diet is most often best. Been vegetarian 20 years from what was several years also mainly vegan. At one point (nomatter how much I ate my body could not absorp any vitamins and was in the state of starvation. ) Now days Im fine...still vegetarian but eating eggs and occationally even fish.

      Also haven't had constipation since my meat-eating days, but I feel for you since it'd be a frequent occurrence with your diet.

      @GeorginaKreutzer Před 5 lety +8

      EX Muslim Mol7ed Man, you’re super hung up over a single vitamin 😂
      B12 is neither wholly a meat or plant derived micronutrient. It is bacterial, sourced from soil, seaweed, or the intestinal-bacteria in animals. So I’m perfectly happy eating my fortified foods (I have been for years), they’re safe and reliable.
      It’s also pretty funny that you’re so worried about fortification in particular, seeing as 90% of the world’s supply of supplementary B12 is fed to factory farmed animals. Yeah.
      So while my milk and cereal are fortified with B12, so is your meat. baltimorepostexaminer.com/carnivores-need-vitamin-b12-supplements/2013/10/30

    • @GeorginaKreutzer
      @GeorginaKreutzer Před 5 lety +5

      EX Muslim Mol7ed I agree - chemical additives, especially those with no long-term research on their repercussions, should be a concern for all of us.
      But the reality is that medical, environmental, and nutritional research have taken us beyond our ancestors wildest expectations.
      I wouldn’t exactly agree that our ancestors ‘thrived’ - in the past hundred years the global life expectancy has nearly doubled. And yes - I’m beyond lucky to be a 21st Centruy vegan! Definitely taking advantage of it, haha.
      A staggering number of independent studies show an elimination of meat/milk/egg intake is not only entirely achievable and good for our bodies, but a far superior lifestyle for the environment too. Dr. T. Colin Campbell et. al’s original China Study was breakthrough and worth investigating.
      (Putting moral issues of slaughter aside -as that‘s subjective and we’re talking nutrition.)

My primary problem, like many others eating for health, is eating too much, and eating more carrots is helpful, and other non-starchy vegetables. Potatoes are surprisingly useful as lower calorie density and are said to be very satiating by many people. I found it to be the case and I eat at least 10 ounces of them daily.

      I went 90% carnivore and droped BFR from 15% to 7%, got stronger, never felt bloated again, my mind feels sharp... I guess it's different for some people

    I'm so glad that you reached out to someone that not only you knew and trusted, but that has been vegan for a solid length of time. ✊🏼🔥
    However you choose to eat in the future, I'm really glad to see that this journey helped you understand and be more conscientious about what goes in to your food, and your body!

    Not having enough potatoes or other starchy veges or whole grains and legumes - thats a common initial mistake. I did that too initially, but now that I include those and eliminated any processed foods, I’ve been better than ever.

    Never thought I could become a vegan, I just never thought I could function without meat & dairy. After getting some disasterous scores back on a blood test last October and my Doctor wanting to throw all sorts of pills at me I decided that enough was enough. I honestly can't believe how quickly changing to a vegan diet changed my life and my health. I obviously look better as friends and family ask me what the secret is. I really don't miss both meat and dairy and even fruit and veggies appear to taste better. I have bags of energy and sleep better than I have for years. I really do relcommend trying this change in lifestyle if you aren`t happy with where you are right now, you may surprise yourself. I did! A very happy and full of energy55 year old.

    When someone tries to go vegan without knowing they will need to eat nuts, legumes, and lentils for protein ...

      Eating dietary cholesterol doesn't cause high cholesterol. But all the junk food you were eating was high in trans fats, which DOES cause high cholesterol. Most the junk food you listed is also vegan.

      I mean you don't NEED to. I don't eat legumes or lentils (though I do eat nuts), and I get around 150 grams of protein a day

      Nate I am not trying to be rude, but 150 grams of protein is WAY TO MUCH PROTEIN!! TO MUCH PROTEIN IS NOT HEALTHY !

      When you work out, you're supposed to eat a gram of protein for every pound you weigh. I weigh about 150 lbs so I eat 150 grams of protein

    “Whole Food Plant Based” is really the key, as opposed to, “Vegan.” If you’re plant based, you’re eating well. You can be a junk food vegan. Eating processed, sugary, unhealthy foods. If you focus of eating Whole Food Plant Based foods, you’re good.
    Congrats!!.you’re helping yourself and our planet 🌎

      Yeah, i think that is the best way. We just need to farm animals less. If everyone went vegan and there was animal equality there would be overpopulation of animals, we don't have enough food for ourselves so how should we be able to feed all those animals?
      I'm sorry to tell the moos, but i think they should just... Disappear. They're probably the most polluting animal on earth after humans (because of how polluting their feces are).

    Very nice video and not so long. I enjoyed watching this video. Nice job. I am on the second month and I also feel healthier than ever. I am cooking almost all my meals with fresh products.
