compare the atmosphere to today--and you get why people miss "the old days"
This was such a golden age and era of professional ice-hockey.
god I miss these days of hockey. I'm just glad I grew up on the TV shows, movies, music and hockey. everything today doesn't compare.
You have been programmed, get outside .
You do realize all those things are not outlawed in your town... Or any town in the free world...
You are still able to watch and enjoy all of those things today as you did yesterday-
albeit without the nostalgia goggles...
I feel the biggest difference between back then and today is the players today seem overly focused on giving the fans “a show.” Back then they were just trying to score. It was competitive! The events were simpler back then too. Hit the targets, skate through some pylons with the puck etc. I watched the NHL skills competition a few years ago and the puck control relay has gotten pretty complicated. Also the personalities of the players back then were big. Gretzky, Messier, Lemieux, Hull, Hasek, Chelios, Fedorov, Shanahan, Jagr. All those players are totally unique and have unique playing styles. Today aside from a few superstars, I can’t tell one player from the next most nights
Such a great vid seeing all those old names again. Potvin that was the biggest save of your life on Lemieux!
Tons of big names from the 80s and 90s in this event. Gretzky’s last all star appearance as an LA King, traded to St. Louis just a few weeks later. Cam Neely’s final all star game, coming in Boston no less. Speaking of Boston, Ray Bourque was the hero the next night, scoring their game-winner late in the 3rd and taking game MVP honors in front of the home crowd. This is one of my favorite all star games
gotta love that static vhs sound in the back, makes me sooooooo relaxed, ahhhhh. also, funny when whoever is announcing this makes several mistakes, just listen for it; he must be stoned or on heavy meds lol. "final shooter, uhh, mark messier, uhh, mctavish, duh uhh I mean desjardins", "selanne makes the save" etc. lolo
This is the Pinnacle for hockey in my opinion. Just about every player is with the correct team this year as well, or the team we remember them with most.
When it was simply phenomenal!
Hall of Fame game masquerading as an All Star game. There are few missing exceptions, but this really was a who's - who of 90's NHL.
5:24- "Should this end up in a tie, there is a tiebreaker...and it's a penatly shot." NO WAY, didn't expect that.
too bad now breakaway challenges are such a joke...
loved the purple and teal jerseys
back when I knew all the players
The names here,,,,,WOW. What a great time In hockey
Packed with superstars, Forsberg being the biggest! 💪
Haha its ridiculous seeing all the talent in this. Amazing. People say you didnt appreciate it back the and only do now because you miss the times. Not in this case. I remember it was a big deal watching it back then and players took it seriously and were happy to be there as well. I remember gretzky and Mario playing together in 97. That stuff was a big deal at the time and exciting. Between that and hasek in that 97 asg, it was so damn fun to watch. Then they changed the best format ever the year later which was dumb.
Legendary Time! Hasek Great!
interesting that Al Morganti is doing the all star game haha. Good to hear a local Flyers Post game guy get some recognition
Oh yeah, Al Morganti was all over those ESPN broadcasts back in the day! :)
Hockey Transplant I watched then too but I guess I never paid attention lol
Geez, the names that came up for the shooters. So many greats…
07:06 Felix Potvin so underated.
stoned Jagr and Lemuiex for a win.
Holy shit. 1:15. Shanahan with the C on the Whalers. Throwback
Gretzky was amazed with a "fuck" at 1:09
Interesting how simple shots and dekes players take. Penalty shot techniques were not that important since there were no shootouts jet.
Hasek is as good as Trump. WALL
This joke will certainly divide the audience into east and west Berlin.

I never thought of it but you're right. Hasek won 2 straight MVPs and Trump won 2 straight elections.
Good call!
