“Life is not kind to obese people” So so true and sad. If we can remember we need to do it for our health and not for ALL the vanity reasons society pushes! Great video girls! ❤️🦋
The world needs more empathy in all regards 😢. Obese people suffer enough without everyone else’s comments! ❤️-Em
I think this is why some overweight people rebel against the idea of losing weight - they don't like the idea of giving in to the pressure to look like society wants them to look.
I've done keto off and on for 3 years now. I still struggle to stick to it but your recent video about how to say no to cravings was a big aha moment for me. I always struggle when offered things that aren't keto because I don't want to offend but I'm realizing that these people just want to prove I won't stick with it. So now, I'm determined to say no to cravings and wake up proud of myself that I didn't give into the munchies at family gatherings or right before bed!
A lot of overweight people had "traumatic" childhoods and it's a safety zone,
sad but true. God Bless..
So true 😢-Em
The wife may feel he doesn’t love her enough if he’s focused on her weight which makes her resentful and resistant. Counseling might be worthwhile. Being a good role model is the best way. Excellent advice in this video.
I totally agree.
I’m a RN and my own husband wouldn’t listen to me and it wasn’t until I started watching Dr Ken D Berry video’s and he listened and said that sounds logical LOL. It just helps hearing about the health benefits from a Doctor
"Ohhh my God, my life is overrrr!" is EXACTLY how I used to feel every time I would think about starting keto in the past. This statement really hit me. It's amazing how much the pleasure of eating carbs, takes over your damn mind...while its actually slowly killing you. Sugar really IS, I think, as addicting as heroin. Once you can convince your mind....your body will naturally follow....including your mouth lol
We felt the same! We were 100% carb addicts. -Em
Hey my friends! I’ve been doing your style of low carb/keto for about six weeks and so incredibly happy to have found you when I started this new lifestyle. I’m down 7# with 23ish to go. My husband also has weight to lose but has been resistant to change. He too, is a carboholic. I recall Emily saying in a previous video “here’s what’s for dinner” and her husband would eat it. I stopped making two meals after that. He half heartedly whines about not having potatoes with his steak then eats what I make. He has lost 12#. Great message today!💫
Congrats to you and your hubby! That’s wonderful!! -Em
After being diagnosed with pre-diabetes, I started keto and intermittent fasting. I also started riding bike everyday. I've lost 50 lbs. and feel so much better. I appreciate keto recipes on youtube.
❤️🙌🏼❤️-Em
I was 283lbs. and needed an MRI- I didn't fit in the machine- I had to reschedule for the following week so they could truck in the BIG machine that lives on a big rig flatbed trailer- I was sooooooo embarrassed and humiliated I cried for three days, found keto Christina and my new life began!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your story, I know many people have had similar experiences ❤️-em
my husband has been so supportive but not participating. slowly he is changing to keto, i offer to make carby stuff for him. he refuses more and more. its working for both of us
That is wonderful Linda! -Em
That’s awesome!
My adult son is the same. He has slowly made small changes, and has lost 30ish pounds. He's amazed at how easy the changes were. While I don't think he'll ever be completely keto, he's on the right track to improving his health.
My husband says he’s keto but he only gives up his bread occasionally. He still eats potatoes, drinks milk and orange juice, cereal and pasta but he has cut back so I’m proud he is doing something. He has always had a bit of a beer belly (he likes his alcohol but not beer) and it has gotten bigger over the past couple of years. He said his pants were to long and I had to laugh because he’s wearing them lower but doesn’t want to admit it! His medical history is great, he’s 72 and takes no medication and has no health issues. He is supportive and proud of me for losing weight and feeling better.
I've been trying for 2 years to go on keto. Lost 30 lbs and my daughter's family moved in and I gained it back. Started Valentine's day this year and I'm 40 lbs down. 20 to go till I can have total knee replacement on my first knee. This is my lifestyle now and I have hard times but stay on for all the wonderful benefits. And watching videos like yours helps me stay on point! Thanks 👧 👧!
Glad you're doing better. I have used chyote for a potato replacement and now I'm gong to make a keto "apple pie" for the hubby. He never knows when I keto something. Shhh don't tell him! 😃
This was a very appropriate video. I myself went on keto 2 years after my husband did. He didn't have weight to lose but his cholesterol went way down. I have always fought my weight and thought his diet wouldn't fit for me. However, 2 years of watching him and I finally tried it. In one month I lost 12 pounds. In 5 months I lost 45. My sister saw me and she lost 25 pounds. I had to decide for myself. Great video!
Love that your husband let you to try, which led your sister to find success as well! Wonderful Jen! -Em
I started Keto, Dec. 24, 2019, because I woke up and it took me almost a half hour to be able to move my legs. I told myself, that was it, I needed to do something for my health. Poor husband was in the middle of preparing our Christmas dinner to bring to my sister's the next day (she doesn't cook, so we bring most of the dishes) and he had to suddenly make keto friendly foods for me. Now, the only time my legs give me trouble is if I have overdone it on my cross-fit/HIIT workouts. Keto has made it so that I can move so much easier.
So happy to hear about your success Theresa, you are inspiring me to start exercising 🙌🏼🙌🏼-Em
It was just a spur of the moment thing. I just started it after talking with my husband who has always been in really great shape. Eats baked fish, salads, runs a 6 minute mile, and drank coffee, milk, and water. He had recently suffered a heart attack and he told me his doctor said he was borderline diabetic. I am obese and I hated it but I love food. I have an emotional attachment to having enough food because as a child we sometimes didn’t have food. I have a real eat it now before it is gone mentality. Anyway, when my ‘healthy’ husband had health issues and and told he was getting ready to be diabetic made me look at why that could possibly be. It was October of last year. I lost 46 pounds and I felt so much better. I didn’t have any diagnosis’ but there was just pain in my hands, feet, and joints that I had gotten used to and to finally be free of it was awesome. I fell off the wagon because at my office carbs are so prevalent and I started feeling like I was missing out. I am trying to get back to it and this video and the ones about your weddings really helped me.
Hello Sarah and Emily. Thank you for all of your hard work to help us out. I started being taken to a fat doctor at the age of 14. I can't tell you how many times I have lost 100 pounds and I regained it. I am having great success with Lazy/Dirty keto. I plan to make this a forever lifetime change. I don't plan on ever regaining this weight again. Thank you both.
So happy to hear about your success!!! Yay! -Em
I got my husband and son to try keto for 1 month, even though they both lost 20 lbs. They both decided not to continue. I have not said anything else to them about it, they are both very supportive, but definitely not on the wagon- and that's OK.
They are off of sugar, so I'm happy with that for now
Very good discussion. Many times if someone is "nagging" you to lose weight, in your mind it is being received as "you are deficient in my eyes unless you lose weight and look beautiful, and I won't love you as much." I grew up with always feeling that way and became almost anorexic because of the fear of not being loved unless I was skinny. The best way to help someone is to let them know you love them unconditionally, and just being an example of health yourself. They have to have a desire to have good health... not a feeling of rejection unless they look a certain way.
Yes! Totally agree, I felt like everything revolves around my weight growing up, it became an obsession. -Em
I think that it finally takes that "aha" moment... I personally was just sick of being overweight, judged by others, feeling crappy physically and mentally. Like you ladies, it wasn't my first time and I knew how to do it but this time I WANTED to do it. For people who've never had a weight issue they truly don't understand but everything you two said in this vid totally resonated with me. Thank you for sharing your stories and offering support for many who don't thjnk anyone understands.
We do! 💖
🤗❤️-Em
If I’m on keto so is my man unless he wants to do his own cooking!
Hahaha
Preach 1 cook 1 kitchen otherwise fend for yourself lol.
Great video Keto Twins!! tammy edwards...just make sure he understands that the meals you are preparing ARE high fat keto foods and if he chooses to add lots of carbs to the mix outside of the meals you prepare, that is a recipe for heart disease. Carbs/sugars beat up the arteries and cholesterol comes in to fix the problem, eventually may cause blockages over time. That is why many, many diabetics end up with heart disease if they don't control their blood sugars. My diabetic mother had triple by-pass and her cholesterol was 118. When carbs/sugars are beating up your arteries, it doesn't matter how high or low your cholesterol is...the cholesterol is still going to do its job. As Dr. Berg has said many times, cholesterol is not the bad guy, it's just at the scene of the crime (to heal). Similar analogy is that you wouldn't say that high white blood cells caused an infection. No, the infection caused the white blood cell count to go up to remedy the situation. When keto people sometimes get off track by adding in extra carbs here or there whether it's cheat days..not recommended..or whatever (carbs can easily creep back in), those people really just end up eating a high fat diet (not a keto diet due to the added carbs). Believe me, I'm in the same boat as you are. I just make sure the rest of my family is aware of the high fat foods they are consuming on their non-keto diet.
@@KM-os8lb ThanQ. Good info.
YOUR BIGGEST FAN!! i was 200 pounds in the 4th grade. growing up my family celebrated every thing with food. dad got a better job..wooohoo lets get a pizza!!! grannys 70... woooohooo lets make a cake!!. i always felt loved , mom was a hugger and always told us she love us. but.... something she did that i honestly don't think she even realized how it mad me feel was, and she would say this ALLLLL THE TIME.... oh your so pretty, those huge blue eyes... if only you lose weight you would be so beautiful. for so may years i felt so depressed about my body i just didn't feel like dieting. not because i didn't want to be skinny... i just always felt defeated.. like why bother? thank god i made it out of that mindset and iv lost 85 pound.
Love to hear about your success Jodi!! Wonderful! -Em
I had done Atkins years ago. I saw a book that did an explanation of keto but it was too technical. Several months later, I went to my hairdresser. She had just started keto and was enthusiastic as she had attended a work shop with Dr. Jason Fung. So, I looked him up and really enjoyed him. He did a comparison of what happens to your body when you eat carbs, vs keto. It all made sense to me. Eat carbs and in a couple of hours the carb monster comes back and wants more carbs. The cycle continues. I did more reading, decided I wanted to give it a serious try. And here I am today down 27 lbs, working my way down another 5. I loved the freedom this lifestyle gives me over food. The monster is gone, and its a mentally calming lifestyle. I'm thrilled to be using keto as my eating lifestyle. I do agree that a person needs to find the right moment to change over to keto, as it is a much different eating style to all the csrbs that we knew, but once embracing it, and the benefits that come with it, it's truly freeing.
People seriously have no idea how it feels when they say "you have such a pretty face"... The people that say that obviously have never battled with their weight and don't realize howuch it hurts. Congratulations on beginning your journey, it only gets easier making it a lifestyle.
@@ellamaurergraduation sometimes it's actually the opposite. They themselves may have been very overweight, bullied by other kids and even hurt by their own family who thought they were helping. Loving you and not wanting you to endure the pain they did and could still be hurt by their weight could exactly be why they make comments.
This is so true. My mom needs knee surgery but is too overweight to get surgery. I’ve tried over and over again to get her to follow keto to get her health in order. She might even be able to avoid knee surgery if she just lost weight. But nope, I had to let it go and just pray that she eventually wants it for herself as bad as I want it for her. My turning point was seeing myself in vacations pics at my highest weight, and just being tired of being tired. I committed 3 years ago and never looked back. Great chat! ❤️
Congrats on 3 years Qiana! Hopefully your mom will come around, I’m sure she is grateful for you being there for her-Em
This is why I started. We came back from family vacation and I hated how fat I had looked in our pictures. I was like, no ma’am… what is you doing? Never looked back!
I was scared of death when I was going to sleep at night. Chest pains, pounding headache, hard to breathe, racing heart, aching joints & pre diabetic @ 43. It was awful. Felt different within a month. Have fallen off so many times, but now, next meal I’m back at it. Took three years of consistency, but I’m grateful.
I love this. I just recently lost 100 pounds on Keto. I have lost almost 100 pounds before but it wasn't because I felt like I needed to, but because other people felt like I did. I hated it, didn't feel good and put the weight back on faster than I lost it.
Then I was ready. I wanted to lose the weight for me so I could have an easier time traveling for work (which never happened as I started my position in Feb. 2020). I kept at it cause I wanted to. I will no longer be complacent about my life. I never understood what people meant about me needing to be ready until I was.
This is a powerful message and I appreciate your honesty and transparency. Keep on educating and inspiring others. Have a great week.
You are so right! When I first went on Keto it was like a miracle - I dropped 50 lbs over about 7 months and it was like I wasn't even trying. So I HAD to gush about it to everyone but I was pushing them away. So now I only talk about it if people ask how I lost weight or whatever.
We did the same thing years ago 🤣, that’s partially why we started our channel so we had a place to talk about it to people that want to listen, lol! -Em
My keto moment was knowing we had a family trip to Disney coming up and because of my weight I was having problems with my one knee. I was really afraid that I would not be able to do all the walking I would need to do to keep up with my kids (adult children). At that point I did not know how I was going to lose the weight but I did know I did not want to do a pill or packaged food/meal replacement shake, or program. I had seen other people do those and fail. I really wanted it to be just normal food. My hallelujah moment was when one of Dr Berg's videos popped into my YT feed and I watched it. Keto was exactly what I was looking for and he coupled it with IF which I had never heard of before. I lost 47 pounds in 4 months, went on our trip and had a blast. I never even thought about my knee. Everyone has their why. His wife needs her why. I know because the whole time I was losing weight my husband who also needs to lose weight never bought into it and still hasn't two years later. But he eats keto dinner every night that we are together because I do the cooking. (He is a firefighter/paramedic so we are not always together for dinner when he is on shift) Breakfast and lunch he is on his own. He also sees obese people every day and still has not jumped on the keto wagon. Some of the guys he works with have even done keto and he has watched them and still nothing. You are right about leading by example. Be patient and love those you are concerned about until they are ready. You cannot help those who don't want help and you can't make them help themselves. Not your job! Thanks for all you two do in this community and for being real about the struggle. I really struggled in 2020 and am still struggling but I have not given up because I know how successful I can be and how good I feel on keto. You both are so encouraging. 💜
Thank you for sharing Kim and being there supporting your husband! ❤️-em
Two separate friends told me they were doing Keto & both had noticeable weight loss. One told me to do some research & recommended CZcams. So I did my homework for a few weeks, I then began the changes in my eating choices. One friend is no longer Keto the other controls his A1C with this lifestyle. I love the way I feel, I lost 50 plus lbs & feel great!
I saw myself in my granddaughter’s wedding pictures and I honestly did not know I was THAT big!!! Found keto on CZcams and have lost 84 pounds! I am 77 years old…used to get ear infections, sinus infections, throat infections on a regular basis!!! I have not even had a cold in three years!!!PTL. I love keto food…you can make the most delicious meals and it only takes minutes because I am using fresh, clean food! I would not go back if someone paid me copious amounts of money! Love you two lovelies to pieces…keep up the good work!
Congratulations Carol! 84 lbs is amazing! -Em
Yes, Emily's suggestion about cooking keto alternatives for your loved one is the best bet. Most people associate being fed with being cared for. Not judged and criticized for being fat, which they might take away from being told they need to diet.
Do the shopping yourself and the cooking yourself and make sure it's all keto friendly. Maybe the non-keto loved one will insist on going to buy and fix their own carb heavy foods, but I found that laziness wins out. Plate of food handed to them > anything they would have to fix themselves.
I started keto a little over two years ago. This is the only style of eating that I have found to be completely and absolutely sustainable. I love how I feel I love that I have extra energy. After living most of my life on low fat low calorie lifestyle keto has been life changing.
My blood sugar was at 280. I went on keto - that day! Lost 80 pounds. Got my A1-c's down to 5.3 ... and over the past 3 years, I've enjoyed "carb-creep". I've gained 25 pounds back and am getting ready to recommit. Love your channel. You girls are fabulous. Thank you.
I have heard the “if you lost some weight you could be a model or you could get a rich husband” from many of my moms friends. And then I’d wash down a bag of Lays and a snickers bar with a Coke.
😢 hearing those words scarred me too for a long time, I think a lot of other people have experienced the same growing up -Em
Me too three! I actually said out loud when you guys spoke about this, ‘me too’ ‘you’ve such a pretty face if you’d just….’and the ‘you better be careful’ ominous that I’d never find a boyfriend. Geez Louise
Once I lost all my weight and I was in my late forties…my childhood was like the twins. The music to my ears compliments were from people asking if I “used “ to model…no my face wasn’t pretty enough but I guess the body was and they thought I might have been prettier in my youth! Anyway it felt great🥰
@York Hunt had unhealthy habits. Luckily all that is in the past. 😊
What kept me on the Keto/Low Carb lifestyle was the clarity of mind, mental focus, and the fact that the food that you should be eating tastes great! And added benefits were weight loss and my sciatic issues disappeared..
That’s great that your sciatic issues have resolved, I know that so many people suffer from that pain! Hopefully they see your comment Nancy! -Em
@@ketotwins Thank you for your wonderful channel!!
I binge watched many CZcams videos until I had a good understanding of how keto weight loss works. I am science-minded. When I understood my body has no requirements for carbs and I can "eat" my own fat, I decided to give it a go.
I do "dirty keto" and I am not so strict with myself. I lost 30 lbs and them gained them back. Now, I have lost 20 lbs and want to lose 20 more. I am not in a rush, though. One thing that bothers me is when I eat "empty calories" although I know this isn't necessarily about counting calories. But eating something then thinking that it did not nourish my body or even provide any long term energy but just a "fix", it has made me rethink eating in general.
We eat to live, not live to eat. Garbage in, garbage out, those words are true. So, I am sticking to a pretty low carb lifestyle and making small gains right now.
I have to say, also, that I love to cook and many commercially available "keto" items really aren't. It's just a ruse to take your money. You have to be smart. So, it's easier for those of us that eat clean, mostly unprocessed foods. So learning to cook or stay away from foods that come in a box can be a big issue for some. I'm just happy I found something I can utilize to regulate my weight and health going forward. I am 66 years old and this is a great way to improve health in many ways.
Sometimes you have to evaluate all the toxic people around you which could be contributing to your weight gain. It took me years to realize that every single relationship that I’ve been in I settled for. I was never truly happy with any of them, so I continued to gain weight year after year. Now that I’ve been single and finally happy with myself for the past few years, the weight finally started to come off. It takes time and a lot of self love 💗 to do this for YOU and no one else.
I hit what I call my rock bottom, like a drunk getting sober! I take it one day at a time. This is the first time I've ever had a kitchen to myself, I am slowly getting the things i need in my kitchen. I don't think about it as much and time has rolled by and Ive been on a month and 3days! I also got into therapy. Plus like I said before I dumped my husband and took our daughter and am out on my own!! Im liberated in a sense. I binged for about 6 months after I left. One day it just happened. I don't know what clicked exactly, but i was quite sure I was sick of how I felt! I still can't find my scale, but Im not concerned! It isn't about the numbers for me as ,much as knowing that Im taking care of me makes me feel! Ive lost and gained so many times, I will never say again, "oh Ive jus lost 50 lbs|" Its old news, Does that make sense at all? I already know that I am making changes.I just refuse to have a scale govern me this time! I CARRY THE POWER, not my stupid scale!
I love you all! I went through a similar experience with my weight. I had depression as well and people tried to "encourage " me by saying "you would be so beautiful if you just smiled once in awhile " . It doesn't help unfortunately. I started eating keto before it was a mainstream thing and I'm so grateful it's caught on because it's given me back enjoying food. God bless you beautiful ladies thank you for shining!
I was hurt and grieving and heartbroken. I felt betrayed and lost. So I gained because I just wanted to comfort myself on the daily. However…once I started to break through the fog, I realized that the best thing I could do was to heal my heart, by healing my body and mind. That the best way to find the light again, was to feel lighter. In all things. I didn’t want to feel like a heavy anchor weighing down my soul. So I started with Keto in March. Stalled all through April….and am starting to lose again in May. I’ve only lost 12 pounds, but I feel hopeful. I want this to be my year.
I’m 60. I’ll be 61 in a week.
I won't lie..I made a promise back in January to myself.. my family caught covid and it wasn't looking good for a few members. I cried, I begged, I prayed...and the last thing I said to myself was..if they get healthy, I will do better with myself and my body. I was sitting at around 260 at the time. 32 years young and just obese..and sad. They ALL pulled through and thats when my journey started. I'm down to 210 at the moment and I couldn't have done it without your help. I'm on that keto lifestyle now and I'm hitting goals that I never thought possible before! I see myself pushing other people to do keto but as you guys said...they might or might not. I'm just glad I decided to make a change.
Congrats on losing 50 lbs Eric! So happy all of your family pulled through! That must have been so difficult! -Em
I bought new jeans in the Fall. This winter, during the pandemic lockdowns,I mostly wore pjs or jogging pants. The following spring, those jeans were so uncomfortably tight,I thought 'this is it,I`ve got to try Keto'.Just eating less of the same does not work for me.I`ve lost 20lbs so far 20 more to go.
I can’t tell you how strongly this video resonated with me. I’m on my own weight loss journey and I’m down 42 lbs., but I have so much more to lose. That said, I wasn’t ready… until I was…until my mind was made up and I had the mental capability to do it. This video had me in tears, largely because your hearts were in the right place in your message. You truly remembered how it felt to communicate to someone who has the same struggle and I’m sure this will help so many people. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words! Congrats on 42 lbs, that is quite the accomplishment! -Em
I was tired of being overweight. My doctor put me on keto. I stick to it because my inflammation is so much better
I was turning 55 and my son was only 12 and it just hit me that I wasn't going to be able to be healthy enough to enjoy my future grandchildren, at 110 lbs overweight I was already feeling the physical effects. My sister had been telling me about keto and I'd done the research but never jumped in until it just hit me, like a switch in my brain was flipped and I wanted it enough to so something about it. I'm 90 lbs down and over 2 years in. Keto is an amazing way of healthy living when you're ready to give it your all.
That’s incredible Debbie! Congrats on losing 90 lbs!! -Em
My boyfriend passed away of hypertensive heart disease and obesity at the age of 36 in January of this year. He was overweight but also had sleep apnea, however it was still very unexpected. This really open my eyes to how our health is greatly impacted by our diet. Even in our twenties and thirties it is very important to be conscious of what we are putting in our bodies so we can live long and happy lives! Keto is a stepping stone! Thank you ladies for what you do. I love your channel and you both have helped me more than you know! ❤️
So sorry about your boyfriend, Kelsey. Thank you for watching ❤️ -Sarah
@@ketotwins Thank you ❤️
I started Keto early Spring at 300+ because I couldn't take the pain,
lack of sleep, unable to walk and control my carbs. Down 60lbs now.
That’s wonderful Laura!! Congratulations! -E
The turning point for me was my A1C got up to 8.5. My PCP wanted to up the amount of diabetes meds I was taking. I started keto and started losing. I have now lost 60 lbs and my A1C is now 5.7. I have much more weight to lose, so my journey isn't over. I am thankful for all of the help and support. Thanks y'all!
That is wonderful Corliss! Congratulations! 🎉🎈-Em
I was anti-keto for years, but when I realized I had insulin resistance and likely fatty liver, I knew I had to make some changes. All the research that I did regarding diet pointed to Keto combined with Intermittent Fasting. I actually only had about 12 lbs to lose when I started and didn't really expect much. I've been trying to lose the same 10-15 lbs for years. But in just over 8 weeks I have lost 11 lbs and I am completely over my sugar addiction, my cravings, and my constant hunger. I eat 2 meals a day and eat no more than 25 total carbs. I feel great. And I feel really stupid that I didn't research Keto a long time ago! Thanks for all your helpful information.
When I started Keto 2 1/2 week ago I weighed 176 lbs., I am 4' 11". I have lost 10 lbs. so far. What finally did it for me was having a hard time tying my shoes, I knew I need to lose weight, but my belly getting in the way of tying my shoes was just too much, that, and getting winded climbing up the basement stairs. I'm 67 and I retired around the time Co-Vid hit when I got laid off from my job, so now I'm pretty sedentary and I am ready to change the way I eat and look at food.
You can do it Lucia! Just take it one day at a time ❤️
I'm not doing Keto to lose weight. I started Keto last fall when my A1C went up 2 points. So I'm doing it to get below the pre-diabetes A1C level.
I discovered Keto in October 2018 while in the hospital and decided to try it. I then procrastinated until March 2021 until I actually began Keto. What finally pushed me to get serious about Keto was my fear of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I wanted to avoid that. They're a saying "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." The person has to be "ready" to change, that's the bottom line.
I was living a life of chaos and trauma, feeling out of control in all ways. I had spiraled out of control, and had settled into a life of grief. One day, I decided out of the blue that even if I couldn't control anything in my life, I could control what I put in my mouth. Now I've managed to peel away all the lies I used to tell myself. I've been on Keto since May 2018, and have lost 120 lbs. I have more to go, and I'm slower than many, but setbacks happen and that's part of life too. It's all about forgiveness. I've found that this journey is 85% mental. Eating and exercise are easy compared to the emotional work.
Such great points, yes we also think it’s mental! -Em
Nothing worked longterm for me except Keto!! I'm 66 and feeling totally in control for the first time in my life! On Keto 5 yrs now and loving how I feel.
I started Keto in Sept. 2020, after 3 months a relentless persuasion of my sister trying to get me and our other two sisters on board the Keto train….lol
Today, I couldn’t thank her enough, I am down 100 lbs., off blood pressure meds after about 50 years on them, no longer prediabetic, and I just turned 65!!
My sons dr lost weight on keto and recommended it for my son. I thought why not im 320 lbs. 2 years later down 100lbs!
🎉🙌🏼🎉-Em
I’m the worst keto person on the planet. I cheat all the time. I’m so weak. Yet I lost 50 lbs and cut my diabetes meds in half.
I’m slowly getting there.
If it wasn’t for my wife of 29 years I would fail completely. She doesn’t do keto, eats brownies, popcorn all the time loves her carbs, but she too is slowly changing to cut lower carbs. She never judges me and always tries to ketofy our food . So grateful for my wife.
Your wife sounds wonderful! -Em
First off, the video title is hilarious. :-) Second... I find that the best way to influence others including family is to let them see the RESULTS... first get yourself healthy and lean and show how it's not a nightmare diet... and sooner or later they will ask "okay what are you doing, what's the secret, I want in."
If my husband was asking me to do a diet I deliberately wouldn’t. I wouldn’t want to be treated that way.
I'm old enough that the first time I went on Keto it was still called Atkin's, and the doctor who prescribed it was straight out of a "Mad Magazine" cartoon. He was practicing in an upscale suburb and helping all the married women whose mothers had literally forced them to stay outrageously thin until they got married. That was the first thing that scared me even though I was turning test strips purple every day. I only saw him a couple of times because I could only eat my favorite foods -- like nuts and popcorn -- in ludicrously small amounts, like a tablespoon of popped corn.🤪 The next time was a few years ago, when I was seeing nutritionist at a medical facility which seems to have been pro-keto for a long time. Unfortunately, fats and oils were discouraged. So much for the macro I've learned since then. I didn't last very long on such a restricted process. Though, I started keto with a physician last year or 2020. I discovered keto YT channels and, lured in by chaffles, started doing my own cooking. It wasn't until then I became really ready and happy to start a truly ketogenic life. Yes, Dears! This is an excellent video!
I am super tired of being overweight and hurting all the time. 10 years ago I lost about 37 lbs doing my own low carb. I was really committed and then I went out drinking with friends one day and cheated. I never really came back to it and ended up 85 lbs heavier. When the pandemic hit and I gained another 30 lbs from 2020 to now. I have decided that I am committing to a life style and not dieting. Making small changes its been a few weeks and I am going at my own pace. I really find a lot of motivation on your channel and will keep watching. Thank you for what you both do You're lovely souls!!
I decided to try Keto because of the pandemic. It started on accident and then I was afraid that I wouldn't survive Covid-19 if I got it due to being obese. At first they weren't 100% sure how Covid-19 was spreading. We didn't know if it was transmitted through food or not. That alone made me stop eating out which allowed me to lose some weight to start with. The only decent food I could really find was slim jims. They were convenient and, because my mom had done keto before, I knew it was keto. I started having to find convenient things to eat. I ate cream cheese and pepperonis for lunch for a long time. Then since restaurants weren't open much, meat was a really good price. I started eating steak for my first meal and a salad with meat in it for my second meal of the day. At this point I was deep in the weeds of keto researching. Throughout my progression of keto, I lost weight at each stage which helped me want to continue. But somehow it was as if a switch turned on to have my mind ready to accept my new way of eating.
My turning point was being diagnosed with diabetes. I never intended to go keto but then I realized that a diabetic diet and a keto diet are very similar and that there are so many keto recipes available. Chanel’s like yours have helped me get my a1c back to a normal range and losing weight is just one of the surprising side affects. No one could have told me to change the way I ate to look better or even feel better but it is worth it to save my eyesight; feet; heart and my life!! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences (and your Chaffle recipe). You have helped save my life and I am forever grateful!! 🥰
❤️🎉❤️ thank you so much for your kind words and support! So happy to hear about your progress!-Em
"I would try any diet that wasn't keto, 'cause I loved carbs. And it never worked" Yup!!!!
Hi girls 👧🏻 👧🏻 ty so much for this one of my best friends has been morbidly obese just about her whole life . She’s 355 pds few years ago she had the lap band done lost about 50 pds but gained it back she’s had more problems with the band so she’s having it removed in the next month . I told her about keto few yrs ago and she went on it she did well lost 50 pds but stopped following and gained it back plus some . She’s 49 yrs old . her dad was close to 500 pds had weight surgery lost 100 but then passed away age 61 . I fear for her life . everything under the sun in problems . High cholesterol high blood pressure she has she’s starting up again and I’m praying for her health and her willpower . This video couldn’t have come at a better time . Ty so much 🌻🌻🌻
Im sure you love your friend Toni, be there for her to encourage her and support her and hopefully she will rely on you when she is ready! -Em
Oh, and what made me change was I was at the point where I had visited a Bariatric surgeon and was taking the steps necessary to have gastric sleeve surgery. I decided I could not go through with having such major surgery and it was time to get serious about Keto because I know it works.
Good, my daughter in law's surgery went horribly wrong (after a few years.)
The medical procedures are too complicated for me to remember & repeat.
I do know for a fact that she has had 6 operations in the last few years.
She is eating only mushy baby food. And if things go worse, which we pray won't happen,
she might eventually have to have a colectomy bag. So please go KETO. xx
That’s my plan. I just feel like if I’m going to change my way of eating anyway I might as well do something healthy and not add surgery to the mix. It’s just not for me.
@@charlottetacy6729 Best of luck!
Thank you for posting this. Stops me from pushing a loved one who is not ready.
I had a sugar addiction and loved carb heavy food and at 5’ 11” I hit 355lbs and was feeling the worst i had ever. In June 2023 one night I broke down while trying laying in bed and it snapped I had to make a change and I started Keto and IF the next day and have stuck with it and now I am 209lbs and still losing weight consistently. This is now a permanent lifestyle for me
Obese since a traumatising childhood. Ridiculed and shamed most of my life (63 now). Suffered various major illnesses and one life and soul changing road accident. Tried most diets and support groups only to be always ravenous, exercising 4 hours a day, on starvation rations, only to end up back at square one...
Diagnosed with MS 9 years ago and health plummeted whilst the Kilos slowly, inexorably piled on. So unwell and on the point of defeat...and woke up one day 2 years ago and thought, "I can't do this any more..." and thus began my ketogenic journey. No carbs, no sugar. Different mindset. Don't give two rats what the world thinks, including my family and friends. The battle is for my own health and well-being and I still have so much I want to achieve. If I do this alone - so be it. I no longer look outside for encouragement...and I still have those days/weeks/months when I falter, but I have that one constant...what food I put in my face. That will never change...
I know what you mean lead by example, I stated doing Keto 1 1/2 years ago and I gave up bread, sugar, flour, pastas, and most fruit. and I have lost 32 lbs. I’m happy with this weight loss, I have not gained it back and I feel so good. I do less than 50 carbs a day. My husband tries to eat like I do he is diabetic and cant get away from chips. My son started Keto and has lost 40 lbs. and now my daughter is doing Keto also. I think I made an impact on them without pushing them. I started Keto because I was labeled pre-diabetic, I have lowered my A1C and I have never been on medicines. I see what my husband goes through and I don’t ever want to give myself Insulin shots ever. Thanks for your videos they are very helpful!
Congrats on being such a powerful motivation to your family Beatriz! Love it! -Em
I was ready to start keto this time after having my second baby and the pandemic started when he was four months. I was already stuck at home with a new born and everything was on lockdown. I thought there was no better time to start. There was a lot less temptation going out to eat cause everything was closed and it was easier to just focus on cooking at home. Best decision ever.
Oh, and what made ME try this way of eating was that my husband had lost, like 35 pounds a couple of years ago, eating a ketogenic diet (that I also did, though did not do it correctly, and did not lose weight; anyways...), but had gained it all back when we went back to our previous way of eating, and he wanted to lose weight again, to help his blood pressure, and hopefully avoid other health problems. I wanted to support him, and enjoy this way of eating, so thought that joining him in it would be both beneficial for him and easier for me! Jeff has lost 30 pounds, and I have lost 15 pounds!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤️ yay Dawn! Congrats to you and Jeff! -Em
@@ketotwins why, THANK you!!
Hard subject, you need to want to do it and not because someone else. The leading example it the only way
First of all... Great video 💜💜
My Aha moment was... how crappy I felt, how bad I hurt all the time, and knowing that everyone was judging me worse then I judged my self.
I did a lot of research and a lot of experimenting... figured out what worked for me...
I been Keto since May of 2019. I saw people for the first time since then whom didn't even recognize me, they said seeing me was like seeing a different person. I'm no different then I always was.. just healthy physically and getting healthier mentally.
Thank you ladies for always being so inspiring and full of helpful information.
Have a blessed day 💜💜💜
That must have felt so good to not be recognized Janette! Yay! -Em
I had type 2 diabetes and my Dr was pushing me to take meds. I didn't want to for many reasons (I won't go into here) So I told him I would lower my A1C with diet and he flat out told me, "You are diabetic, you can't change that with diet." Well that sounded like a challenge to me. (here is where being stubborn is a good thing) I went strict keto and OMAD and in a little over a month, I lost almost 20 pounds and lowered my A1C almost 2 points. Needless to say my Dr. was both shocked and very impressed. In the back of my mind I kept thinking that I would only do keto just long enough to prove the Dr. wrong, but I had come so far and worked so hard that I have not wanted to go back. Sometimes I think about eating something I shouldn't and I think about how I watched my dad die of complications from diabetes and I don't want to do that to my kids, that keeps me strong. It is so much easier now that I have found so many wonderful keto "treat" recipes so I can have something sweet when I want it. Thank you for your channel and all the work you do, you are making a difference in so many lives. God Bless
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing, I’m sure others will be inspired by your story!! -em
You should totally do a video about starting out on CZcams and things people should know about doing CZcams since you are so passionate about it! A lot of folks want to know more about that. :) This was another great video.
I was soooo sick of feeling bad. Tired all the time, high blood pressure, bad skin issues (eczema), not sleeping well, not being able to fit in clothes. I was done! Doing Keto, low carb, & intermittent fasting - I’ve lost 90lbs in 2 years. Sure I’ve gone off & on, but never gave up hope! Love your channel! 🥰🥰❤️❤️💞💞 Oh and my skin issues are 100% gone! No special creams or meds from the Dr! Was able to go down in my BP meds too, hopefully will be off of them soon! Keep up the fight ladies! 👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Love to hear about your health improvements Julie! That’s wonderful! -Em
This husband should cook the meals and hope that she enjoys them. Every healthy meal she eats is better than nothing :)
Just like quitting smoking. When you're ready you will do it. You can't force it upon others.
Covid cave hit me bad. I gained 25lbs OVER what I needed to lose. Hit 294 January 24th when I ordered a new scale and cried. That was the final straw. I'm down to 254 today. My husband is very supportive as well
That’s awesome, Beth! Congrats on your progress! -Sarah
I went to my heart doctor's appointment--even knowing I had gained some of the weight back--when I saw the number on their scale--I was shocked --I woke the next morning knowing I wanted to start new--I cleaned out my pantry, giving my sister n law the items--I have asked my other family member --not--to bring anything into my home that they know I should not have--I am learning about Keto--lost 10 lbs so far.
🎉🎉 congrats on 10 lbs lost Mildred, that’s wonderful! ❤️-Em
I found your channel a few months ago and really enjoy your recipes and humor. I know this is a year late, but will comment anyway. Besides being overweight, I also have Type II diabetes. My goals were to lose weight and get off the insulin which I have accomplished after almost 6 years. I didn't try to go full keto at first and instead set goals. Sixty carbs a day turned into 50 and then 40 and then 20-30. You are correct. It is a mindset that cannot be forced, but baby steps will get you there.
Congrats on six years Kim! That’s amazing 🤗
I started Keto about 6 months ago. I am a veteran and have been working with dieticians at the VA Clinic I go to, I have been successful to a point then got stuck and didn't lose anymore and would cycle up and down. Then I found you (The Keto Twins) on youtube, This sounded simple so I decided to try it and in the first month lost 2 and 1/2 pounds. Not much but encouraging. So I started gathering your reciepes and started doing the cooking, #1 I love eggs, #2 I love chaffles. #3 is that this is fairly easy. So I gathered some keto shopping lists and digging deeper and in the next several months I have lost over 15 pounds. I still see the nutritionist every couple months and she is amazed at my lost weight yet I am eating healthy and it is food that I like. I keep food logs so she can check to make sure I am getting my nutrirnts, which I am, So this is my keto story and I understand this is a lifestyle but it is a good and tasty lifestyle. THank you two for being youtubers and all the videos and information you put out. Be blessed in all you do and may God shine His grace upon you.
So happy to hear about your success in losing 15 lbs! 🎉🎉🎉 thank you so much for watching and sharing your story! -Em
I came to keto it is the only thing that gives me controll over my hunger. I am a Bing Eating Carboholic The added reduced inflammation is a plus.
My adult son, my husband, and myself all started Keto February 1, 2020. I do most of the meal planning, shopping, and cooking. We were all sick of how we felt physically. By April we all 3 had good results but I decided that I needed my bread and potatoes to survive the times. My son didn’t follow me down the carb path! By June 2020 I started getting frustrated with how my body was getting in the way of my daily activities including fun ones and how I felt physically. Back to Keto! I started to Ketoize my family recipes, used your recipes, CJKetokitchen’s and others. We don’t miss the bread, potatoes at all and we use your cauliflower rices often. My son is down 69#s plus he is gaining muscle due to an exercise routine he started in 2020. He says he feels great! Goal weight is only 30#s away. My husband eats with us at night but during the day does his own thing. Me, I’m down 31#s. Had tough time visiting family 2 weeks ago and again this week. (Also felt physically bad from the carbs) Watched your video last night, had a talk with my sister about my goal the next 4 days at her house, my getting back to my way of eating and that my passing up the mashed potatoes, fries, buns etc the next 4 days has nothing to do with her. Also planned what I was taking in the car to eat for the two day drive from Chicago to TX next Wednesday. I did that on the way up and it was great. I have to confess that when I got here last week I had 2 slices of Lou MALNATI’s pizza. I could have just had 1 small piece. AND Guess what, I didn’t like it better than the crustless! And I felt stuffed! Thanks to Lou’s I can stay Keto AND have great pizza. (Just have to have it shipped) I’m not going to beat myself up but I did reaffirm what I want. Sorry so long, thanks for the timely video!!!
Started this time because I was tired of constantly eating or thinking about food. I am a carb addict. I've gained and lost the same 5 lbs for months but I feel better.
I am a WW girl. On and off for YEARS. I payed out so much i should have stock in the company. I got tired of paying. I got tired of a lot of program stuff. I started keto last Sunday and have lost 9lbs. Which is encouraging but im aware it slows down. Im scared it won't work. I've watched a lot of CZcams videos all about keto. Im learning some interesting science behind it. My husband is keto man and he lost a lot of weight in this keto lifestyle. He is helping me a lot. We cleaned out our pantry so I can be more successful. Although theres a lot to learn about caloric intake and not adding extra fat calories where i shouldn't and staying in a deficit. I have RA. I already feel better and its only been a few days. Im trying to accept myself where I'm at and have some confidence and faith that if I do what works for others I will succeed. I've been changing the narrative in my head which isn't easy. Im a sugar addict. Nightmare lol. But im proud of myself for having the ability to talk myself off of the sugar ledge when im in a massive craving. It can be really hard. I will continue to watch your vlogs and the vlogs of others that I enjoy. It helps. Thank you for your vulnerability and willingness to help others. You put yourselves out there consistently and I appreciate it. Im gonna give myself a break and stop weighing myself daily. It'll make me crazy. I committed to weighing myself every Sunday to keep an eye on whats happening. Im journaling my food intake so I have a history to look back on in case I get stuck or plateau. Im learning about fasting which comes easier to me than expected. Thank you so much for caring about us.
The first couple weeks are the hardest Janet and 9 lbs is incredible! Make sure to take measurements too so when the scale slows down you can compare your measurements! Also before pictures are a must! They will mean everything when you can compare how far you’ve come in a couple months! -Em
@@ketotwins i will. Thanks for replying to me.
One things for sure. This Health at Any Weight BS that’s circulating now is not helping. People want so desperately to believe they are ok and doing right that they will believe anything up and I’ll til the point that they can now longer safely participate in life and become a content couch potato. Sadly we appear to loosing our health as a society. Thanks for putting yourselves out there as an alternative to the madness. I’d never tried a Chaffle until I watched your videos. Now I can happily eat a ham sandwich or hamburger without bread or lettuce wrap as my only alternatives. A full size waffle maker creates a jumbo taco shell sized alternative.
I have always had an understanding for the significance of blood/lab tests. When I found out my glucose was in the diabetic range, it seriously scared me. Using a cost effective blood glucose monitor and test strips from Walmart and testing reactions to different foods showed me how detrimental carbs are/were for me. It took 3 years to heal my internal body and become normal. During the process I’ve adopted your technique of “ketofying” foods I like. Being slim is a side benefit to being healthier on the inside!
🎉🎉🙌🏼 love it Karen! -Em
On Keto I eat when I’m hungry. On carbs I eat when I’m craving which is all the time
So true, ladies. If you’re not ready, all they’re doing is hurting your feelings, making you feel worse about yourself and possibly leading to additional binge eating. That’s what I always did. Plus, it’s better to suggest small changes if someone is interested in keto. Chances are, they’ll feel better even doing a few things differently and then want more and be willing to commit to this major, permanent change. The thing that made me FINALLY start was that instead of my weight sort of staying about the same without a lot of effort, it was popping up 25 pounds. I’d lose it, and it would climb up again. (315! I’m 5’4”) I saw a story on NSNG with Vinnie Tortorich and started there. I had several health issues and didn’t expect it to work for me. But, it did, and mainly I FELT BETTER on on NSNG and Keto than any other diet. And, I could eat WAY more food! Also, I know what I had been doing to lose weight was something I couldn’t possibly do forever, and despite my severe love of salads, fruits and vegetables, I thought this was something I could live on. Mainly, I felt so much better, had so much energy, was so much better mentally, that the sacrifice was worth it. I follow Ben Asadi’s Ketoflex program and have a carb day when I can eat my fruits and veggies, so I know it’s not a never, ever thing. If you don’t think you could live eating this way forever, it’s just going to be another diet that you lose weight and then gained it all back from. You have to believe that this is an eating plan and a metabolic process that you can live with for the rest of your life. I’d say that about any diet.
P.S. I’ve lost 97 pounds, with 110 to go. Almost halfway there!! Haven’t been this weight since 1992.
This was so wonderful of you to share this, and it is so true! Thank you
Such a great video, you said everything I was thinking. I hope this person takes your advice to heart.
My turning point was about a month ago I had my labs done. I received a very alarming message from the doctors office that my labs were dangerously high and I’m going to die. I called back and got the entire breakdown. Not dangerously high. Borderline. How horrible to receive that kind of call. I had just started Keto for the 2nd time 3 days earlier. When I actually spoke to my doctor she wanted immediately to but me on medication. I said no. I’m doing keto and want to f give this a chance. She was not encouraging at all. “Many people do not benefit from Keto”. Sadly I may one of “those” doctors. I’m not giving up. 3 months I have to ho back in. Praying the numbers are better. No meds!
I had temporary custody of my granddaughter at 56 years old and I weighed 336.5 pounds. I knew that I had to lose weight or I wouldn’t make it to her 18th birthday. She saved me. I was able to do what I couldn’t do for my own children for her. I’ve been keto for over two years and have lost 135 pounds. I’m not quite where I want to be but I’m off my blood pressure meds, no longer need my CPAP machine and don’t have joint pain that had me popping Tylenol as soon as I woke up. My life quality has improved immensely
Thank you so much for sharing your story Karen! I’m sure your granddaughter is so proud of you! -Em
Great video!!! Thank you.
I was told I need a knee replacement at only 58. Weight loss will not mean I can avoid that surgery but it is part of my plan to delay that surgery as long as possible. I have only been on keto for 3 weeks and have not yet developed the anti-inflamatory side effects, but I am really looking forward to a less swollen knee.
I had gotten to 355 lbs...I had lost 100lbs and was in the best shape of my life. I unexplainedly put a lot of the weight back on. Hurt my foot and stopped exercising. THAT made it hella worse and fast! I got above the weight prior to losing 100lbs. I had never been this heavy. The pandemic did not help. Now the world is opening back up and I will be going back to work. The fear of people seeing me this unhealthy and barely able to move as I used to....I knew would make going back to work hell! Plus I want to look and feel good for ME!
I’ve read a lot of comments from people feeling exactly how you do about going back to the office Tanya, you are not alone! ❤️-Em
Seeing a picture of myself in Ireland while on vacation in 2018 made me start in 2019. Been off and on keto since then but mostly on since then 😄
If my husband knew that I was trying to lose weight and he wanted me to do a certain thing I sure as hell wouldn't do it while he knows about it
Thank you! You two are an inspiration.
