- University of Chicago is offering applicants the option of submitting a video along with their activity list and essays to supplement their application. This video introduction offers applicants yet another way to differentiate themselves from other similarly qualified applicants.
Our Founder and Chief Advisor, Stacey Brook, is here to help you better understand what UChicago is looking for from this video introduction.
The instructions read:
"If you would like to add your voice to your application, you have the option to submit a two-minute video introduction in lieu of the traditional college interview, which is not part of our application process. Your recording does not need to be extensively rehearsed or polished, and the video does not need to be edited.
You may record your video introduction using the platform of your choice, and then upload either a file of or link to the introduction into your UChicago Account. If there is any important information relevant to your candidacy you were unable to address elsewhere in the application, please share that information here."

Is there still an essay you have to write?
Thanks really helped
Admissions - feel free to be yourself
My brain - it’s time to wear a dinosaur costume and film this sitting in a public place
So does this mean that, whether you do the video introduction or not, there is no longer an option for an in-person interview at UC? Thanks!
Nishita Prasad - From India?? Are you applying for fall 2019?
No, I live in the US and I'm not a senior or anything yet, I'm just wondering
PIYUSH ANAND I am applying but I am very nervous since it's "university of Chicago"
Nishita Prasad, yes, they don't offer in-person interviews anymore
I just submitted my RD, but haven't started making the video yet. Is it fine if I submit the video to their portal a few days after the deadline? Just wondering since I'm busy with other applications rn.
You can check the specific guidelines regarding supplemental materials, but I'm pretty sure you have to submit all materials by the January 2nd deadline.
@@tobennao1561 There website doesn't seem to specify, but apparently you have to submit it through the portal. Surely then, there must be a grace period of a few days?
I'm sending them an email and asking.
@@shashwatbansal9387 did you find out? i applied for EDII but did not send in a video yet.
@@misakichan8234 I'm afraid they needed it by the deadline, so I uploaded mine just as the deadline passed. You could still email them and see what they say now though
Woow
Can you repeat the same information that you wrote in your essay in your video?
Hi Aigul! Since admissions will have already read your essay, you should include new content in your video. Of course, some overlap is to be expected, but we recommend using this opportunity to reveal brand new information about yourself. Good luck! :) - Team CEA
@@Collegeessayadvisors Thank you for your reply. I tried to record my video. But somehow my video is very bland and I sound really boring! I tried recording several times and it is the same. Is it completely bad if I sound monotonous? Thank you
college admission office= racist office! If there is no racial discrimination, why would they ask applicants race when they filled their application?
you don't have to specify your race if you don't want to.
@@DiyaSabharwall but still why they ask?
@@mr.muhammad5605 They ask for their own bookkeeping and statistics tracking. It's not used when considering applicants for admission.
