I miss the Villa here in Oz, but I was there during the 70’s and 80’s including Highbury and Rotterdam, and haven’t been back since 1991, but the Villa calling is getting louder and louder, and I might just have to get back for a visit next season.
Your show (along with a few others), keeps me well into the loop of all things Villa, and your hard work is much appreciated by all us Villans, in Perth and all ‘Down Under’.

I think you're spot on with the defence being obsessed with a line. They completely switch off for quick movement. It's like zonal marking in live play.
Great show Pete. Have a good trip back to BC. With regards to your long list of players who are capable of breaking through the low block, which started with Emi Buendia, I have to give a shout out to Phil Coutinho, who I think we should remember is still a Villa player. We saved roughly £5m in wages sending him to the middle east for the season, and I have to say with injuries to Buendia, Ramsay, and Kamara this season, that 5 mill might have been better spent having him in the squad for precisely that guile and penetration you mention, and may have secured those few extra points that at the end of the season could mean Champions League next season (which would yield a lot more than £5m). On the defence, Mings and Konsa are still our best central defensive pairing, and in the absence of Mings, I would suggest Emery move Konsa back to central defending for the remaining games. UTV.

Great show Pete, as always, so pleased you and Mrs P enjoyed the stay in beautiful Brum. Yes agreed 2 points lost I'm afraid but to get a late equaliser shows our mentality remains impressive. Looking forward though to getting mighty 6'5" Tyrone Mings back to fitness, his physicality and leadership, is greatly missed. But it is what it is and we move on. The constant changing to our starting eleven through injuries etc. is a big challenge and Unai is juggling the troops magnificently. Thought Ollie's leap for the equaliser was majestic and Benteke-like. Keep up the good work Pete, UTMV!
Pete, I'm so sorry that I couldn't get to Villa Park for either of the last two games to meet up with you. However, your experiences over the week & the three games that you attended have exposed you to the full live experience of being a Villa supporter and you will better understand why we get nervous so easily, after the PTSD of throwing away many a winning position.

Ha ha perhaps not Lozells if you were settling somewhere, all the Worcestershire and Warwickshire countryside is lovely on the outskirts. Henley-in-Arden, Stratford-upon-Avon, Belbroughton, Clent, etc

Hey! Thank you for a fantastic show, I watch every episode as soon as it comes up. I have only suggestion: maybe you could edit display of the stats that comes at the end( 23.40 this episode)??? It is very confusing and I have no idea what is written on the screen despite that I have just watched 10th episode of Holy Trinity Show. Otherwise everything is brilliant, thanks for the show!
Definitely a loss of 2 points, not a gain of one. Feels like we lost more than 2 even b/c we never even gave City a fight since we were going for 3 on Saturday. Just abysmal defending.

I thought that was our best back 4 playing on Saturday. Now I’m questioning it! I think the midfield let them down a bit to many gaps too relaxed. We need to outwork these teams if players are looking tired whip them off. Luiz has been exceptional but the last few games he looks tired and he’s been making silly fouls as well. Get 60 minutes out of him and change it. UTV!!!
Konsa is our only Premier centre back imho. Carlos has zero positional sense. Pau is a work in progress if you ask me…..

We already have a competent full back in Cash! Always said Konsa is not a full back! Brentford targeted our full back's throughout the game with a lot of success! Pete doesn't rate Cash that's obvious.One thing is obvious! we need a stronger,Deeper squad for next season! Our defence has conceded more goals this season than last,if we are to progress then Unai has to fix it.
We had a very statue -esque defender 🤔
Let's just say it, Pau Torres and Konsa were abysmal in this game. Only defender who seemed to be awake was Carlos, certainly in the first half. Torres doesn't seem fit and Konsa isn't a right back and all the games are catching up with him.

Thomas Frank? Brentford are the most negative side I’ve seen down the Villa in years. I don’t want to see our players taking it in turns to feign injury and falling over like pissed up giraffes. Incredibly at 2-0 down, they all found the ability to stay upright. They’ve been doing it for years and I’ve got no desire to see that anti football at VP.
