I understand what you're saying about Duran.... but goodness me, I just don't feel like we should sell him on just yet. The boy has a howitzer for a left foot, and has scored big big goals for us. I think we start next season with him onboard and give him a chance to grow up.
This boy Duran is going to turn out to be one of the best strikers in world football with the correct guidance, Unai and his team are the perfect mentors. We would be insane to let Duran go.

Correct. Pete doesn’t get much wrong, but I think this is one.
It's pretty obvious with regards to Duran's temperment, and yes, if Uni and his team help him mature and he is willing to allow that, then fine, but it only takes one bad apple to upset team moral and no one player should ever be bigger than the club as it's a team game. If Uni sells him, then I trust his judgement.

I've said EXACTLY the same about Luiz. He has a high value, he consistently doesn't offer an angle playing out from the back, which is fine when JMG or Bouba do, but I'd cash in... Think he's a good player but I think he's replaceable.

Yes he will get better in my opinion too. His main problem is- He tries to smash every single shot top corner. If he just considered placing it for one second he'd be well into double figures.
As for the SJM comments- It was tongue in cheek and British humour. Sometimes it's hard to judge British humour for people who don't see it daily. His mannerisms and expressions were typical of a Brit joking but that is what it was.

Could not agree more with the assessment of Duran. He is clearly talented but misguided. I think John McGinn was misquoted as saying he's a nightmare to play against. He just said he was a nightmare. So grateful for his contribution and he has been joyful at times but those 2 high profile goals will get us a decent sum for him. He needs to grow up quick or move him on. That aside, what a season! UTV.

I don’t think you can discount teams finding a way to break our offside. We have conceded a lot of just onside goals this last month it’s unreal, maybe fatigue plays into keeping organised? I think we have had to reinvent ourselves so many times this year through injuries it was bound to get iffy.

Doug Luiz has definitely been off form for quite a while now .. probaly fatigue because he was brilliant first half of the season and one of the reasons we qualified for C.L .. as for Duran the kid has got something special , that bit of madness top players have and you just know if we sold him he'd end up being world class elsewhere .. what a season what a club and the unai adventure is only just starting ! I think everyone behind the scenes has had enough, and Watkins mentality doesn't require being pushed. No chance Duran offers a threat to Ollie.

If you've ever had that person at work who is high maintenance and a distraction, you know how the group might feel about the constant "noise" around JJD. I would only keep him if he got a better, more experienced agent who can guide his professionalism.

Great video Pete. Disagree on Duran though. He has enormous potential. Emery said he is a 'good guy' so he's not disruptive but he needs pushing... like most players. Feel towards the back end he was alot better. Tactically still needs work but he's young. At the end of the day it will come down to.. does he want to stay as next season will be the same. Does Emery want him to stay or will he benefit from a loan to la liga. Bangs in 20 goals and his price is higher or comes back season after. Meanwhile we sign a new striker. I don't think we should cash in just yet.
I keep hearing "enormous potential". He's not going to play in a team with Ollie Watkins, and the sense I get from behind the scenes is that everyone's patience is wearing out. If we want the club to be top class, everyone has to behave like a professional.

We either bring him back the following season depending how he went or we sell him for 50-60 million if he succeeded. Score goals and come back. Watkins wont be around forever.

I don't agree about Duran being sold due to his attitude. There's plenty of opportunities for him to play next season, even if in the league cups. Why move on such an impact player? That makes zero sense. I do agree about Luiz though. He's lost interest and doesn't try anymore. Getting a £100m for him would be fabulous and would be used to bring in two stellar signings.

Good show but disagree re selling Duran. SJM caveated by saying Duran has world class potential. It would be so typically Villa to sell him at a low price then watch him become just that. Loan, maybe. Not sell imho.
Being at Aston Villa now comes with the duty and responsibility of being a top top professional. This is not what we're getting. If players go on to do well somewhere else, then we will profit from the sell-on clause language.
