- First up is how to get hugely discounted items from traders the easy way. By increasing a trader’s attitude towards you, you can get a large discount on everything they sell. But what most people don't know is that...

...the amount of gold it takes to increase a trader’s attitude is based on your level. If you go to withers and ask to change your class to bring your character to level 1, it will only take exactly 400 gold to increase merchant attitude from neutral to max.To get even higher discounts you can also increase your proficiency in persuasion. Good merchants to do this on are Damon, since he’ll be around for a long time assuming you keep him alive. I also like to do this on Auntie Ethel, since she sells Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength in the Grove. Just make sure not to go to her swamp or she won’t be in the grove anymore.
And last, Derryth Bonecloak is another great merchant because she sells Elixirs of Bloodlust, Hill Giant Fingers which are used to create Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength, she also sells Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength, and Worg Fangs to craft Elixirs of Bloodlust. So really an excellent merchant for powerful elixirs. And you can visit her up until you leave for Act 3, so she can be your source for all those elixirs at a discount.

Steal everything from a trader (again) x
Number 2 is how to steal everything from a trader. There’s currently an arms race going on between Larian and the community trying to steal items from traders through bugs and Larian hotfixing it. As of December 21st this still works, but we’ll see for how long. To get the Trader’s entire inventory of items, sell a pouch or any other container in the trade tab, then go to barter tab, put all their items in the pouch, then exit the pouch, drag the pouch to a character that's not talking to the vendor, click the other character’s portrait to switch to them, double click the pouch, then exit the shop, and you will see the pouch open and you can click take it all to have all the items put into your inventory completely free. Thanks to @migri_19 for commenting this tip on my last secrets and tips video, link in the comments!
Upcast Ritual Spells x
Number 3 is upcasting ritual spells. Admittedly, I haven’t been doing this! You can actually upcast ritual spells while still not using a spell slot if done outside combat. It will target more people when upcasted, so it can be really convenient rather than casting Longstrider 4 or more times after each rest, you can just upcast it to get your whole party in one or two casts instead.. So many times have I casted longstrider after a long rest on every party member individually, no more!
Make Enemies Skip Their Turn x
Number 4 is making enemies skip their turn. This is one of the most powerful things you can do to an enemy, and surprisingly it’s not all that hard to do. One of the easiest ways for anyone to make all enemies skip their turn in through Surprised. Surprised is a condition that makes the target unable to use actions or reactions. And inflicting Surprised on an enemy is as easy as starting combat by attacking them while invisible. You could drink a potion of invisibility, but those run out. A much easier source of consistent Surprise on enemies is actually the Cheeky Quasit who can be found in Act 1 under the blighted village. Shovel, the Quasit, has Invisibility which can be cast an unlimited number of times which means essentially every fight if you start by attacking while invisible with Shovel, then you’ll surprise your enemies - making them skip their turn. The Warlock also has a Conjured Imp which has Invisibility if you go Pact of the Chain. And probably one of the strongest sources of Invisibility is playing Duergar. Duergar get Invisibility as a Cantrip, allowing them to cast it as many times as they like outside of combat. This allows you to play any class you’d like and still start combat from invisibility causing the enemy to all skip their first turn.

How dare you talk about Mantis like that! :O Have you seen all the cool and powerful rings he sells?
Love me some Ring of Very invisible, tis OP.
Also cheers for tips
The easiest way to make unlimited cash it to NOT complete volos quest that gives you the see invisibility eye. Just speak to him in your camp after you rescue him from the goblins but dont continue the quest. He will stay in your camp all the way till the end of act two where you can go get him again in act 3 from the docs.
To refresh his inventory go hire a hiring, (I suggest a rogue as they are just click through to level so nice and fast) then level up once, steal volos whole inventory (he might run away but he will come back) then level up the hirling. Rinse repeat. You xan get almost every scroll in the game, (level dependant, you will get better scrolls at higher levels) unlimited food, unlimited small potion, the healer ring and unlimited gold. And all it will cost you is 100 gold at withers THAT YOU CAN STEAL BACK!
To make it even easier get the +2 slight of hand ring from the skelleton in the bushes nesr karlak and the advanage gloves from the zhenterim trader under the burning inn in act 1.
You don't have to kill Gandrel to get his crossbow, it's his equipped weapon so Command drop weapon works as well
but he needs to perish
You can also leave him unconscious with 1hp and you'll be able to loot it from his body. I did that, but I didn't find him in act 3 with the other Gurs, so I assume the game considers him dead narrative-wise
Use sleep on him while hidden then pickpocket.
@@matteobrunialti Game considers dead anyone who was knocked down unconscious PERMANENTLY. To meet him again you need to knock him down unconscious TEMPORARY, which is only possible while he is temporary aggressive. So u actually can do it but only if u make him aggressive through some action (steal, attack him, press attack button in dialog) and not through dialog option while with Astarion.
For the vendor bag glitch, it works if you put everything you want into the bag on the speaking character, close the bag, then switch to a second character. Double click the bag (it shouldn't open) then hit escape to exit the barter/trade window (not sure for console controls, hitting the X doesn't work). Then whenever you get out of whatever dialogue the NPC has after trading, the bag should open and you can take all the stuff from it without reprecussions.
Note: if the vendor moves at all, it will close the bag immediately. Super annoying, but it is a bug after all.
Ah that explains why I couldn't get it to work on the trader in the Goblin Camp, lil bastard is never standing still.
@@jeffhorgan13 yeah. Him and auntie ethel love walking around
Doesnt work in honour mode. You cant drag anything inside the pouch.
@@jooyichen worked last night in honor mode. You open the container and drag it into one of the slots.
Thank you for providing the exact instructions to steal the items. The video overview didn't go into sufficient detail. You saved the day!
okay, the i have to admit i never thought about the fog cloak. i always dismiss it as useless during my 3 playthroughs. oh how wrong i am
Lol I instantly equipped it with Astarion once I got it.
The best thing about the fog cloak is moving npcs to places you want..
For example.. Neutral or friend npcs.. You can start fog to make them turn.. And this way they won't see in that direction anymore..
Also.. You can move npcs near edges to push them.. You use the illusion (cat) but the npc is not very well positioned to be pushed.. So, use the fog cloak.
You can even make them take small steps in any direction when you get good and have time with the fog cloak.
Aura of murder can corral npc's in a similar way
Derryth is also in act 3, and can sell you more noblestalk if you give her the one in the underdark
Very much this^. She's one of my fav shops to steal from. she's just across the square from the Sorcerous sundries entrance
When I talked Karniss into giving up the lantern, the Harpers were lying in wait & commented on how awesome it was that I solved the problem with words. Need to remember this for a Necromancer run though
1:17 i actually found this accidentally and havent figured out how to recreate it, thank you for the infinite steals
I just found out that you can shift drag to split the gold merchants have in their trade inventory making it easier to sucseed pickpocket roll. Just wanted to share.
Polymorph a vendor, then go to passive menu’s and enable knockout on 1hp. Loot there entire stock. I haven’t tried to see if there attitude is effected by this.
Edit: you get access to there whole stock this way. Killing them locks you out of the majority of there loot
@@thatch8537 Does that work? Oh that would be great.
@@ModTea yup, out of line of sight, polymorph sets hp to 3. Easy bonk for a 0 reputation full vendor loot. Long rest to try again the next day. Bonus points if you use a bard/instrument to distract the line of sight
I love your videos man. I have over 400 hours on BG3 but I still learn so much from your vids. I'm so happy I don't have to save scum to get items from traders. Those prices are crazy and I'm never paying them
Derryth will leave as soon as you give her the Noblestalk. So if you want to keep her around until you leave for Act 2, make sure you aren't giving her the Noblestalk (if you grabbed it) until you are ready to move on.
Also, if you're going to exploit level 1 to get maximum vendor attitude, you may as well just exploit resetting their stock by leveling/respeccing (stealing gold back) and just using the Halfling Hireling to "window shop" everything you want with basically no chance for failure. For big ticket items like weapons and armor, you can just buy them outright, then steal the gold back by separating it into smaller piles in the barter menu. In Act 1, 50gp piles at the lower level when using the Halfling and some form of advantage (either through spell, Zent gloves or Cat armor) is basically auto success.
The pouch method is probably more effective right now for gold and weapons and armor, but expect it to be patched out. The previous method will likely persist as it's been the same since launch.
Either route you pick, if playing on "Honor" mode makes the difficulty rather ironic.
Shapeshifter's Boon Ring adds +1d4 to all checks when you're shapeshifted. The buff works even when you take off the ring. If you have the Mask of the Shapeshifter I strongly suggest doing this. However your characters will look generic so I personally only use it on Astarion as I'm not romancing him and he is my thief.
If you get this by murdering the cow in Act 1, Dammon will not survive the trip to Last Light, making you lock out Karlach's personal quest.
Hunting Shortbow you can get from the druid grove also has Feller of Monsters!
Best prone is from sleet storm. If they fail there check and fall prone on their turn they skip the rest of it.
My favorite thing is the risky ring. Don’t remember how to get it, but you have permanent advantage on all attacks, but disadvantage on death saving throws. The good way outweighs the bad in this case as a rogue can now use sneak attack every single turn without having any special conditions
So I found out a neat bug, that does nothing other than look cool.
When Glut takes over the mushroom circle, he is programmed to reanimate anything that is dead in his circle.
So if you leave dead bodies up there, he will reanimate them. He will even reanimate those he can't normally do.
He reanimated a Mindflayer, an imp, a Intellect Devourer, a mephit, a hells boar.
You can still buy from Auntie Ethel in the swamp as long as you don't antagonize her. You can also buy from Derryth once you meet her in her shop in Act 3.
While the pouch trick does get you all of the items/gold a vendor has, it's def not the fastest way to get rich.
1.) Simply load the right barter pane will all of the vendor's high price items.
2.) Highlight/select all of them and drag into your inventory.
3.) Sell them back & repeat!
Their gold balance continues to rise as well for some reason, so maybe use the bag trick at the end to snag the massive pile of gold :)
Caveat: If any single item you try to drag over is worth more than you currently have, it will remain on the right side and you will be charged for everything else (just keep ~10k on hand and this will rarely happen). Otherwise (if all goes well) you'll only be charged a fraction of the total value.
Obviously, if you've never tried this before, make a save prior to attempting!
i didnt even realise persuasion affected discounts, i always wondered why every trader i talked to always gave me a 60 percent discount on my bard
Keep up the great videos
These are game changers- tyvm
Learned this the hard way about ritual spells…going into turn based mode and casting will use a spell slot. Even outside of combat.
ok ive been really annoyed since i thought you cant cast jump or longstrider on multiple people. was hoping for a mod or item that let me do that
turns out i already can. thanks for sharing
#4 way of shadow monks also get an infinite source of invisibility, and can use it to easily start combat encounters with suprised. might need a bit of out of the box thinking to put an area into darkness though. (consider the eversight ring from act 2 combined with darkness arrows or from a spell. fog or other obscuring clouds should work. maybe even simply disabling light sources if you are intending on attacking a neutral npc)
You still get that option to take the lantern even with the harpers
I had no idea there was a Gur in any previous acts. I've never seen him in multiple playthroughs, the sneaky boi.
I think the 2nd tip to steal everything from trader has been hotfixed by larian in one of their recent patches. Correct me if im wrong.
It still works. I just did it.
Sell the bag to the vendor. Put everything into the bag. Let the bag remain in the traders stock window. Drag the bag from there to the portrait of a different character that is not currently trading. Now change character to the character you dragged the bag to. Simply double click the bag in the traders window. Exit the dialogue and a window of the bags inventory will show, and you can drag all items into your own inventory.
Make sure that when you exit the vendor that you do not skip their dialog they say when you are done doing the trade. I noticed that the bag will disappear if you skip (Space bar for PC) that dialog and you will not be able to take from them.
Somehow it doesn't let me drag it to my other character : / as of today. @@Shalazhi
you can do the " get the lantern from the dryder " even if you bring the harpers. they will be amazed at your verbal powers after and comend you for them, =)
Me who disguise self and knocking people out. And stealing everything.
The pouch thing doesn’t work on console sadly
How long does the pet drider stay in your party?
Until long rest, or forever?
What if I respecc out of Oathbreaker or Necromancer, so I no longer have control undead?
Does he still stay in the party?
Until long rest. After, the drider will be where you left for camp as a hostile creature again, so you can recast control undead. Respecing obviously removes that action.
would be really cool if you could take the drider into other acts
There is a mod to make summons permanent though so it is possible
you don't need dragging part tho. Just swapping to other characters and double click it
I like to have shart use bestow curse on an enemy with the option to have them skip their turn
Sorry I don't think the Derider is a permeant summon maybe the wording is working.
If so can you please make a video about it and how to make him like a permanent summon.
Frighten immobilizes, doesn't make them skip turns
To calrify how it skips turns, it comes from the combination of prone and frighten. When a creature is prone, it cannot take actions until it stands back up again. Normally the creatures will stand up on their next turn, however, standing up after being prone requires half a creature's movement speed. Since the frighten condition immobilizes creatures, they cannot stand back up from a prone position. Therefore, the combination of the 2 effects effectively skips the creature's turn.
It would be nice to see actual interactions not what is very clearly a bug
How would you go about doing the pouch trick on PS5?
You can find Derrith in Baldurs gate in act 3
I Rather not use the exploits since I like to play the game with challenge, but it’s cool you use this to help
Playing as a sorcerer with 22 charisma every vendor is at 100% discount lmao
I enjoy your videos as a homeless person who can't game it let's me live through you
Got and knew all of these by accident. 🤣
Use hold person and pickpocket, everything is free
At least on Xbox the trader trick is not working. System don’t allow you to put something in the bag on trader side.
one small detail everyone seems to not realize with the first thing is if you donate 400 gold to a trader to increase their attitude towards you. In total that might net you like 8% discount on items.....that's not a lot and certainly not worth the couple hundred to increase. You will make more just by selling items normally than you would with this method.
I just did it in honour mode to get the graceful cloth cheaply - it was going to be 2625 (I’ve got good charisma), I respecc’d my bard to level 1, gave 400 and it was immediately 2100.
I then exited from the trading menu, leveled up (including getting persuasion expertise) and restarted trading to buy just that item for 1625 - a full 1000 gold saved.
I also sold my wares for more than I would have got (a bit over a grand), but I didn’t check how much I would have got for them without doing this.
Yeah if you do the math it’s only worth it for traders you’re buying a lot from. Dammon, maybe roah moonglow, Mattis and derryth show up across multiple acts. Ethel hell no. I usually go down to the swamp at level 4. No way I’m buying enough elixirs to offset 400 gold before I go south.
Too bad that vendor glitch doesn't work on consoles ...Soo thanks
Did u test u can take kar niss to act 3? he doesnt go with u when u teleport right so prolly not?
Yeah unfortunately he just stays for Act 2.
thnx for answering, almost restarted a run cause he bugged out for me, glad i dont have to xD@@Toyhouze
how is being lvl 6 by act 2 is hard? youre lvl 7something when u enter act 2 if u did Mountainpass and Grimforge (and the first act 1 map obviously) you easily finish act 2 exactly lvl 10 every time
Me entering act 3 at lvl 9 🤡. I literally killed almost every enemy in the starting regions.
@@le1660 u should be lvl 10 right before the second fight against Ketheric with no issues, but unless you`re playing on Honour mode, it doesnt really matter
Merchant glitch didnt work on me, it wouldnt let me put item INTO the camp supply bag.
okay, so I only had "camp supply bag" and I was able to steal CAMP SUPPLIES only. So Im guessing each bag works accordingly. Therefore I just need to find a backpack.
Isn't Dareth in act 3 she has her own storefront with her dumb husband that she hate/loves
what do you mean its hard to be level 7 there? I was 9
I think they already patched the bag bug.
this is still working as of now (time of writing). Just make sure to not let the vendor move.
Won't work as well if the vendor asks for you if there is anything else. Where you have to give them another dialog choice. (At least for me) So certain vendors it works for@@cellal07
If you cant do Honour mode legitimately i dont really see the point. You'll always know every time you see the gold dice you weren't enough without exploiting the game henceforth being dishonourable. Ive personally failed 2 runs so far.
A new steal everything exploit. Nice, but outaide a very minmaxed run is not required🤷♂️
"Somewhat hard", you can become just shy of lvl8 in act1. No, it's not hard.
Wow ur so good
after grym yup just about halfway to level 8!
So mostly exploits. No thank you.
You can get the cloak in act 3 aswell.
