- I've been saving this classic Datsun for so long, and I'm sure you'll agree it was worth the wait. This is one of those Datsun Sunnies that got only limited few countries got with the factory SOHC, L-series 4 cylinder engine, and some (not this one) even had twin carbs. And, how's that patina and grunge on this one? Though the exterior looks rough (in all the right ways), the interior looks to be in fine condition. You'll notice all the extra gauges in the dash, and a rear-seat delete... by the owner, I'm guessing.

My Dad bought new a '74 B210 in the USA. It was a complete pile, unreliable garbage, that probably also lead to the lack of enthusiasm with the general public. I did love laying that back seat down as a kid and just laying under that big window watching the sky or stars go by as we drove the hour home from the "big city" so often as we did. We had so many of those cars by the early 80's, people would come to my Dad and sell them for pennies or give them away, we had about 15-20 of them in the field by the mid 80s.
Love these old datsuns
Thank you. Yes, very cool looking
Great vid as always thanks, Lovin this B210 Dan, that full instrumentation dash is killer, wish I had one of them when my 2 door sedan was around !
Excellent is an absolutely appropriate name for the little sunny.
Indeed :)
Such a cool car, cheers Dan for bringing this one out of the hard drive. I believe the excellent range all had a stretched front end to accommodate the L-series etc. Don't believe I've ever seen one in NZ.
Glad you finally brought us this one Dan, well worth it! I’d forgotten how cool the tail lights were on these. Sorry to hear you’re still struggling, but I’m sure everyone here wishes you well, and we all very much appreciate the effort you put in making these videos 🙌
You remember me showing this online previously?? But, yeah. A memorable car. Thanks so much, Anthony
@@wasabicars Ah no I meant I’m glad that five years after shooting it’s made it onto the internet, as it’s a cool thing to see!
Wow Daniel what an absolute classic ! I had seen a S/African 140z in pictures & couldn’t believe it as I’d never seen one. But now I’ve seen a Vid of one Thankyou Bud love it 🤗 Especially that killer interior 👌🏻👌🏻😉
Awesome. Thank you for watching. Yeah, that interior. A little fancy, clean, and epic colour!
What a cool catch Daniel! I always thought it was just another Sunny- but thanks for clarifying. The taillights are truly unique.
Have you seen the taillights on the sedan version of the Sunny Excellent? They are out of this world
@@wasabicars Just looked on Wheelsage- they are pretty wild! Thanks for the reply.
Daniel you are a beast, cant get enough wasabi
Thanks, Byron :)
The braun interior us up my alley. That's also why I love the 70's and 80's Japanese car designs, they are just classy.
Yessss! So good, the browns, the oranges, the reds and olive greens
Hey Daniel I've watched your videos for the longest time I remember emailing in a picture of my car at the time I had a old BMW since then I have had a 92 Silvia and currently have a Datsun b110. Thanks for keeping up the videos
Oh! I wonder if it was the World Wide Wasabi video that almost killed me. Lol! Oh, you had an S13 Silvia? AND now a B110? Very nice
Fantastic colour combo
So earthy ;-)
First of all I'm so happy for you Daniel that you're going to Australia after so long! I bet you miss your home country ☺️ what an awesome survivor! Best color combo and just bloody beautiful! Reminds me a lot of the Mitsubishi celeste that I've been a fan of for a while. And lastly, I'll keep in mind what you just said about living abroad. I know there's a couple rules in the states I'm already hating 😅
Oh i almost forgot, happy father's day!!
Thank U! I'm stoked I'll be able to go. Oh! I really gotta do a Celeste video some day. Ha! And, thank you for the Happy Father's day wishes :)
Checked in. Love it
Thank you. Hope you enjoyed :)
I've been waiting for this.😳
Did I tease this perhaps a few years back? I probably did, flexing on "the backlog"
@@wasabicars It's one of the most interesting looking 70s japanese cars along with the kenmeri, s10 Silvia, Nissan Cherry etc
Most Excellent!
A 160Z made an appearance at the Datsun Nationals at McLaren Vale in 2021. Prior to that, I've only seen them in brochures.
Datsun Nationals?? Sounds like exactly the sort of thing I need to get myself too!
We got this in South Africa yes as a few varients GX Coupe aswell as a South African special 160z
Seen a few at car shows here , very cool :)
Nice. Yeah, I googled to see some Sth African models. They look so cool
Absolutely stunning car
Hey, Troy. Yeah, style for days. I'm not sure if you'd have seen I did do a few classic Mitsu vids a month or so back. And, I'm sure there's another Starion video I could make, but that's a ways off yet. Hope you're well
We had an orange 140J back in the day, never forget my dad trying to race a Porsche 928 in it 😅
Beautiful datsun
It really is :)
super cool!
Thank you, Simon :)
I would imagine it was hard for people to get use to the rear 1/3 of this car back then. Now its cool as hell!
Yeah, killer visibility
bro! So cool you get to come back to OZ and catch up with family. But I must say, wrong side of the country lol. As for those seats you are thinking Valiant VF pacer tombstone seats, first thing I thought of too before you even mentioned Mopar. Another great car and video my friend.
Tombstone seats! That's them. Thanks, D.J.
Yo Dan, yeah you 100% correct - they were definitely sold here, saw one the other day at a local car show here.
Nice! Could you tell me the name of the event and location? I think I should do some digging around. It'd be cool to see what interesting cars are getting around over there.
@@wasabicars Yo Dan, yeah for sure. A small local event called "King of the Lot" - organizer was Mike's Place n was on the 4th of June. In Cape Town.

2nd link at 02:23 was the one I'm thinking of, not a good view though.
Nice. I like the 60s, 80s and 90s designs better but the interior of those old 70s cars are so nice. Sometimes even nicer then the ones mentioned earlier.
And whoa that thing at @5:15
Ah, that raised, grey Kei at the back? I vaguely recall it. Don't think I ever got any photos of though
@@wasabicars Yes that one.
I have a set of excellent tailights for both the coupe and sedan, all I need now is the shark nose bonnet and grill
Are you in the US? Just curious. Must be tough to source.
@@wasabicars nah Queensland
Not one, but TWO triangular side windows in the rear. Do they both open, I wonder?
Such unusual styling.
Yes 140Z and 160Z and a special model called the 140ZZZ in South Africa
Let us know where you're going. A few cars and coffees on the south west side of Sydney.
Oh! Cool! I'll check out the socials for info. Cheers
That blue one at the end was so long ago I just wonder if it’s still there or has been fixed up
Have a good week Dan 👍👍👍
David, that blue one got sold yeeears ago. I actually forget, but it may have got traded for this (or, just bought/sold at about the same time) czcams.com/video/cyRa8sW7xGg/video.html
It's a perfect car.
So good :)
hey. thanks for this...we are a bit alike...a rare breed, so to speak...ditto about life in Japan...Kyushu me , too give us a ring one day!
i wanna just stick it to them car snobs with a glorious B210 speed-demon( so go and buy yerself a beauty Skyline for 450,oooo Yen then, why don't ya?! ) I'll get a cheapo from the era and cam it all up, compression, etc. just to make them sh*t on me with their attitude...'what a waste' they'll venture to say...
I like the B210. They sold so many here the US. I get a bit sad when I see them in the salvage yards. I don't remember if we got the single carb only or the twin carb as well.
I also like how your style has become relaxed over the years... or maybe it is the fact you had a couple dozen practice takes.
Lol! There're practice takes. Heck, the 1,100 videos I made prior to this one were practice takes, too. Lol. Yeah! Totally sad seeing these wrecked. Can only hope their parts end up in the right places
@@wasabicars Wow! I didn't realize there are 1100 videos. That is a tremendous accomplishment. I have just watched for so many years that I haven't really thought about it until you said it.
I remember those fondly from when I was a kid, (US version) ...to me they were weird, cool, and, probably too weird for many. Cause I just love a swoopy hatchback shape like that. Only problem was they just didn't seem to hold up well in New England, anyway, so didn't tend to last.
And those RA-40-ish Celicas were really charming and fun, but it's like they took a sudden turn for the bland after the mini-Mustang look of the previous models, and I thought just didn't get much attention even if they were around. (Also kinda weirdly, the hatchbacks looked a little ungainly or something, which maybe didn't help. Useful, though. The coupe did save a lot of the weight in glass though.)
Not helping those Japanese imports were those big, chunky bumpers too, I guess.
@@wasabicars Well, to a degree... those started to come in around 73. Since in America that was just what cars looked like it's more like a thing that makes the overseas ones special than something that 'ruins' our versions... mostly. There are certainly notable exceptions. (Like, I don't think they made my favorite Celicas suffer too much, but it's still popular to switch to an older bumper or do some deleting. :)
When I had my old Z I figured I'd keep the 5MPH bumpers till I moved somewhere less likely to get bumped, anyway. :)
My first car was a Datssun B-210 hatchback (in US) . Absolutely loved that car! I finally lost it when I forgot to set the parking brake and it rolled out of a parking lot as I turned around and so the rear wheels of a tractor Trailer truck roll over the back of it! Only Me!
In Japan since 2001! wow!
That 120Y/Sunny is probably one of the ugliest dungbug cars out there.
But we still love it because it is a Japanese classic! : )
Yeah, you think I'd be good at it by now. Lol
@@wasabicars Go home aussie! :)
Go hug and kiss your parents.
RSA did a 160z in this shape....saw the only 1 in NZ yesterday...it dold for 50k NZ and the buyer is taking back to Japan
cool :)
The first car I learnt to drive in was a Datsun 1200 coupe baby poo brown 4 speed
Nice. A Hungry Jacks shift manager let me drive her 120Y home one night. The mere thought of it makes me chuckle.
Mr D-O'GDY when you go to super cheap garage make sure you say in the binn...like matty say..
Lol. Thx for the advice
懐かしいな。昔、父が乗っていた。
The b210s in the states are just the pumped American cherry at this point XD
I can't say I truly understand as I've hardly seen the cars there. Those big a$$ bumpers though. They are shocking
@@wasabicars dont even get started with the datsun f10 it is a chonker and that is a model of the 100a!
I would love to find a 76 Celica
I may still, just not in Japan ;-)
I am very fan of old jdms. specially datsun b210/ b211, Brown interior is very beautiful than black interior, some one agree with me ?
Thanks for watching. Well, yes. I agree with you :)
Excellents are common in South Africa 140Y
I have seen online, pics of some very cool ones. And, they are cool
my dad has one in the garage
Yeah? Nice
❤💗❤💗❤
Thank you :)
Hi brother I have gb211 160z I bought it newly im doing vehicle business in japan brother I just wanted to ask u a favour. What’s the price of this car plzzz
Do you know harald. Ogrady
... or a Harald. Sorry
Jim ogrady
Hi, Ashley. I don't know a Jim
Go visit MCM new super cheap auto garage..
I've seen them mention it in their vids. But, we can visit?
@@wasabicars you can they know the barrel brothers..so you know the same people that they know...
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas
station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel
pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in
the EU certain car spares will be banned too....as exhaust systems,
turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and
New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be
done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of
crime here, called "Abgasbspaßung" :-)
I'm certainly saddened to hear all that. I do hope there'll be some allowances for classic car/historic vehicles in the future. But, to be honest, times change, just as they always have. Meanwhile, I've spent the last 11 years documenting the vehicles I see, so they could live on, even if only online
