  • Restoring a Harley-Davidson FXR Rear Fender...well after getting the big dent out of the fender. I have to sand down the fender and fix all the other holes, dents, and rust spots. This Harley-Davidson FXR fender showed may more damage then I expected. #fxr #harleydavidson #harleybuild

You’re gonna have those forearms sore with all the sanding you’re gonna be doing! Gonna look great when you’re done Jay.

Man you are telling me lol if and when it messes up. I get to redo and redo again, but that's the fun of all this. The golden nugget at the end to see it shine back to new. I appreciate you watching my friend!!

I'll have some good RT stuff coming up, just waiting on tools and other parts to roll in!

You needed to sand that thing everywhere with at least 220 maybe even 180 to feather all that damage out. The area with the dent you don’t want an air dry putty like that, you need to hit it with like 80 grit at least and down to metal, use a catalyzed filler, then come back with another catalyzed glaze. That air dry product you used tends to shrink under the paint and will ruin your paint job. You should shoot the whole thing with 2k primer afterwards. That fender is way too beat up for the approach you’re taking. Just trying to help, love the channel and looking forward to seeing the project progress.

I appreciate the advice on that, I may just end up sanding it down even more once I feather out the body filler spots. I'm going to check out the catalyzed glaze as well my friend, thank you!
