Yay! This was a marvellous video. Very helpful for me with my low density hair. Some excellent tricks that I will definitely work at mastering. Thanks, Gena!
Beautiful results! I love the Curlsmith Hair Makeup! I've tried every color except turquoise. My favorites are ruby and copper. I always get so many compliments when I have them in my hair! 😍
Thank you for this video! My hair really loves Curlsmith products, I just ordered the thinking lotion. I can’t wait to try it
I use the clips exactly the same way! Has made a tremendous difference
Hair, color maker was wonderful ☺️
That copper looked so cool on you and the warmth of the blonde looked very nice. Girl, I just had to comment to you that your like wine. The older, the better. Your, hair, face, everything.
Congrats on being you!
Thank you for sharing ❣️
Thank you!
The curls smith thickening lotions is a lifesaver for real!!
I used the thickening on my roots and leave in conditioner mid length, I get great results.
I love your channel! Just discovered it today, now for the binge watching. And I discovered Curlsmith has a Fragrance Free line for sensitive curly girls! The Shine line, I'm buying some of the 2oz products today.
Love this video! It was so helpful. Can you please let me know where you get your root clips.
Great tutorial!
If you've never tried the Swavy Courtney Swing Curl Clump method, I encourage you to try it, just once. If nothing else, it could make for some very interesting video content, even if it goes badly. Like you, I was convinced that this method absolutely could never work for my course 3A curls, and it's really just good for wavy hair. But I followed her instructions EXACTLY (that's the key), and I was shocked at how great my hair looked. Just a thought.
CurlSmith is the only brand I use now. My silver fine curly hair loves it . I can mixNmatch with purple and scalp line.
All these tips I’ve learned from your tutorials. Thank you so much.
Does the curlsmith fragrance-free line behave in the same way as their other products? I break out in hives on my face with their regular products.
The hait makeup looked great..nice easy change of pace without damage of permanent color. Thx for all the fullness tips GM?
This is sooooo so helpful! I’ve been facing some challenges with scalp covering when brush styling. The last two weeks I’ve experimented with less brush-styling to see if that helps. It’s hit or miss, but not brush styling the lower layers ends up making it more frizzy for me. I kind of wish they made a comb for curly hair where you can just lightly comb through the clumps to create more volume after styling altogether
I use a pick, works perfectly
So well done…. ❤❤❤❤. Thank you. ❤❤❤❤
ACV is chelating so I'll be using it for hard water and build-up. Using ACV as a rinse is healthy and cheaper than buying one more product and it makes hair soft and shiny.
This is so great! My hair fell out when I was on chemo in 2021 and it has grown back in so curly but dry. And I have a big crown in the back which causes my hair to gap open and a half dollar size bald spot is hard to cover. Thanks for the tips, so glad I found your channel!
I have been needing this video. It's amazing the difference these tips helped & I can't wait to try them myself. I've been so discouraged with my hair loss. I did start taking collagen, hyaluronic acid & saw palmetto supplements and I did notice with that my hair did get a ton more healthy looking. My stringy ends filled out so I've been able to enjoy a longer cut than I've ever been able to pull off. This video is definitely going to be a game changer for me. Thank you so much!
I saw where those other vitamins help. I need to get it. My hair does better short and curly.
Is there certain brand u bought for saw palmetto and other vitamin. I use collagen.
@@lynnhallam5719 no particular brand. I bought them from Amazon and treated it like everything else I buy. (Read hundreds of reviews) Hope you find something that helps!
Great video and very helpful! My scalp tends to peek through and it really bothers me. I'll give this a shot when doing my hair next. My only question is how in the world do you use this much product and not have stringy looking hair after? I don't overuse, but find Curlsmith tends to make my hair look stringy on Day 1 and on Day 2, it looks better. It's kind of weird, I know, but what do I do. This being said, I also do scrunch out a bit of product before drying.. Thanks! 🙂
Hola Gena. Me gustan mucho tus vídeos. Sería posible poner los subtitulos en español ?????? Muchísimas gracias
Hi! Thank you for all this information. I have very low density, fine hair due to genetic hair loss. What shampoo and conditioner would you recommend?
I was so glad to see you use big clips as root clips. The little silver clips or tiny clamp clips didnt do anything for my hair. Have you ever tried the little rollers they have on amazon to lift your roots?
I haven’t tried those!
Any ideas (anyone) on how that color would look on gray hair?
Do you prefer using a bottle/squeeze cream rather than tub cream?
How do you choose your hair cream?
I don't have a preference, as long as it's not too heavy. I usually look for curl creams that help to clump and define the curls. I don't mind oils as long as it's not really heavy. I'd say I usually go for a medium-weight cream because I do have coarse areas that need extra moisture.
Hi Gena, i’ve been reverting back to my natural curls after years of straightening, is it still ok to use a diffuser or will this hinder my curls from getting healthier over time due to still using the heat from the diffuser? I try to only diffuse on wash day and always use the Curlsmith Miracle shield heat protectant when I do. I just find that my hair falls flat if I don’t diffuse and attempt to air dry X
A diffuser is fine as long as you're using low heat and including the heat proctant
HELP W/CROWN: I have 2 large cowlicks at the back of my head, & every washday I do that exact thing you just showed, but when I lightly touch it with my hand after brushing thru it, it feels all messed up, almost matted, like I have all the curl families at a block party mixer & no one is with the right family lol. I've tried making that section thinner & thicker/bigger as well as wider or more narrow & nothing gets rid of that matted feel. I always end up having to go over the crown multiple times, in multiple directions, with a brush & some finger coils, in order to get that matted feel to go away. I was wondering if I should just not worry about how weird it feels to my hand? That it might dry just fine? I've done the mirror thing & it will look like some things are a bit out of place, but it didn't look as bad as it feels.
Do your curls ever feel weird at the crown after brushing them thru? I know the cowlicks are a big cause of this. idk what to do
Yep, this happens to me too. My hair in that area is very coarse so that adds to the rough feeling. I make sure to moisturize it, and also make sure you're sleeping with a satin or silk bonnet because this area gets smushed while you sleep
Hi Gena, every once and a while I watch your videos, today I couldn't help but notice your neck. A little while back I was struggling with health issues that was causing major hair loss. One of the things that I was tested for was Hashimoto's Disease. It's an autoimmune disorder that causes Hypothyroidism. Some symptoms include thinning hair and enlarged thyroid (the butterfly shaped gland in your neck). Please consider checking with your doctor.🙏🏻
Hi! thanks so much for your concern and for sharing. I've had my thyroid checked through both bloodwork and ultrasound and it's all good 🙌🏼
Because I don't wash every day or brush I have been getting lots of hair balls and it is upsetting to see clumps of hair. Any suggestions?
Please someone help, i get the same!! And this never happened as bad as now! I am now taking vitamins for hair and dished my Tangle teezer brush, as i suspect it isn’t good for my hair type
But please help us understanding why so many hair knots! Is it the age?
I noticed my hair follicle is quite thin, only realised when saw it next to my daughters. I am 39 now.
Is it important that the prongs on a diffuser to have holes for air flow? I have the Infiniti pro by conair and that one does not have holes in the prongs. I was thinking about purchasing the xtava orchid diffuser. Would love your thoughts on this. Have enjoyed learning lots of curly hair tips and tricks.
Thank you 😊
It helps because the air reaches the scalp more, however not absolutely critical. I recommend the Curlsmith Diffuser for the fastest dry time without high heat: tidd.ly/3cuopwB
Hi Rene. I am a big fan of Gena and her videos. Keep in mind that Gena is a Curlsmith Partner and is obligated to recommend the Curlsmith diffuser. This is not to say that it is not good or that she does not actually like it; but to take it with that grain of salt. In my experience, and from the many reviews and videos I’ve seen, the x-tava orchid diffuser is exceptional too! 😃
@@barbanderson2422 Hi Barb! Thanks for the kind words. I've heard great things about the Orchid diffuser too! I wanted to let you know that I am not obligated by Curlsmith to recommend the diffuser. I would also never recommend something that I didn't love and wouldn't put my own money to. 😊
Hi Gena, when I style for more volume and scalp coverage, my curls don't last as long. When my curls contain a lot of water and clump together nicely, it looks nice for a couple of days (besides a very stubborn flat spot in the back). When I use less water my hair loses its shape after about a day. Do you have any tips for this?
Hm that's a great point and I know what you mean because clumps do help it last longer. It's sort of a trade-off, unfortunately. Have you tried my method where I just clump and define the top section or face-framing section but keep the underside more full?
Do you use only one nickel size application of curl cream for your whole head?
Yep. I have low-density hair so don't need much cream. However for gel, I use a lot lol!
That’s the same problem that I have with the cowlick. They say the older you get the longer the cowlick gets and it’s true. Did you ever consider cutting the sides of your hair a little shorter so the curls could frame your face and have a more defined curl. ?
I can't do layers because it thins my ends out too much. I don't find that I have enough hair to create layers. I get a blunt cut and I have some tapering around the face. When I had layers before my lowest layer was so thin and see-through. I prefer the fullness at the end
@@GenaMarie I hear you, that happens to me as well I guess we have to make do with what we have been blessed with. Have a great week
What root clips are you using?
These: amzn.to/3TsCgDI
Totally forgot to link them!
Why use a leave in cream n not a curl define cream bfire the gel? I still don't get this 😕
The Shine Cream is sort of like a curl cream and a leave-in. Both leave-ins and curl creams provide moisture. However curl creams often contain styling agents that help clump and define the curls, whereas leave-ins do not and they only provide moisture. I usually use either one, but I don't find that my hair needs both. Hope that clears it up!
Your hair color is amazing with your complexion. I have a crown cowlick. Strange name. I’m imagining someone being licked by a cow and the name starts from there.
Haha same!
ii
What if your hair is only curly around the hairline and won't hold a curl at the ends or much at the crown?
Is your hair damaged by chance?
@@GenaMarie im not entirely sure. All I do is dye it black. I've been using cgm for almost a year and I get trims. But it's fine, thin and makes knots on itself/breaks easy. The parts that dont curl have different amounts of breakage
* to clarify, I need to add that hair’s overall texture can vary too, just as curl types - some areas may be fine strands while others are a bit thicker or coarser.
