My name is Ralph I recently retired having reached the landmark age of 65 “what do I do now ?” is the question I asked myself. What do I enjoy the most well that was easy to answer I love to dance and I love to listen to Northern Soul this love of the above started what seems a lifetime ago in the late 60’s when I discovered a small dark and dirty place called THE CATACOMBS then followed by THE TORCH for those with really good memories UP THE JUNCTION and the scene was cast that would frame my life. - Hudba
Makes me cry .God im in my mid 70s and brings back happy memories of the casino I've still got my membership card . No chance of a dance that's the upsetting bit wish j still could . But the music lives on in my head

I grew up in the wrong era. Listening to Bobby Hebb, JJ with my old man. 60s, 70s Northern Soul, would love to have been a lad in them days.

I saw Jimmy James @ le metro in Birmingham about 1969 and again at Warners in Somerset in 2019, what a career, wish I could still dance like back in the day though!

I took a decision aged 14 to only buy shoes I could run in after I was sexually assaulted in a local park. To this day I have kept to that decision.

Steven Giles I was lucky enough to see the likes of Little Anthony and Denis Edwards in stage as part of a soul tour organised by David Gest in 2013 at the civic centre.
@@redlightspellsdanger7177 that is great. I used to live in Bolton and I went to Blackpool Tower quite often, but I live in Benidorm now. Happily retired, but forever a soulie.

@@peterrollason8319agreed it’s not hard. I picked it up in the 1970s from my aunt who lived with us at the time. She was a Wigan Casino regular and the little girl me picked up the moves that she showed me at home. Later on me and my friends used to do the same dance moves at the local under 18s disco when they used to have the Northern Soul sessions. I’m 55 now and still remember the moves.

My wife Elaine and myself would love to go to a Northern Soul Event. We would have liked to go to one for our Ruby Wedding anniversary. Which is this year. The End of July 2022.

@@deniseshaw3871 White Cranes certainly rings a bell, sounds like Cranwell but 50 years ago🤔. Give me a clue!! I was married at Sleaford registry office 1971🤣🤣. (Edit) Just clicked then I looked it up👍. The NAAFI club! Snooker tables upstairs. Local Skins used to attend the dances, sometimes fights would break out!! I remember the Club had to shut for a while for repairs🤣. Prince Charles was a student pilot at the time! You triggered the tired old grey matter there! 🤗Thanks. Oh I knew a Denise as well, she and her husband were witnesses at my “doomed to fail” marriage!
