Lyrics:
The love I lost
Was a sweet love
The love I lost
Was complete love
The love I lost
I will never, no, no, never
Love again, ooh
I can remember planning
Building my whole world around you
I can remember hoping
That you and I could make it on through
But something went wrong
We loved each other
We just couldn't get along
Take a good look at me
I'm in misery, can't you see?
The love I lost
Was a sweet love (yes it was)
The love I lost
Was complete love
The love I lost
I will never (never), no, no, never (never)
Love again, ooh
I can't remember nothing, no no no
But the good times we used to share, oh no
I'm so sad and lonely
But without you, my life is so dead
I'm sorry to say
You go your way and I'll go my way
It hurts deep inside
The day we said goodbye, but the love
The love I lost
Was a sweet love
The love I lost
Was complete love
The love I lost
I will never (never) no no never
Love again (I'll never never never love again)
I will never (never) no, no, never (never)
Love again
I will never (never) no, no, never (never)
Love again
Never, no, no, never
Love again
Never, no, no, never (never)
Love again
Never
I lost it
Sorry I lost it...

As a white boy growing up in West Philly,I love the "Philly Sound". What a rich musical history
It’s nice to see that other white boys felt the same way about this genre’ it was unmatched & it will nvr ever be done again by anyone….although Bruno Mars & silk sonic do give it a run for its $$$ but still not the same…😎

The good old days folks, omg wow
Classic music lives forever 2024
My childhood was complete with this caliber of music! Kids today will never understand how essential these sounds are!
Sure we do! Fast forward, this just became disco and then house.
It was everywhere. All the stations had mostly, not all but mostly quality music. Music that was interesting, cool, fun, you had to hear it twenty times and still loved it. Good groove music is my drug, I admit it.
@@xjems Not quite....MFSB, SALSOUL ORCHESTRA, BRASS CONSTRUCTION, RUFUS, WAR, AWB and countless others had impeccable arrangements and did not rely on the REMIX and SAMPLING which dominates the HOUSE genre.....close but NO CIGAR....THE 70s was REAL MUSIC
You are absolutely right.
Though futuristic in my musical taste, I long for this depth and magnificence in music. I'm a HouseHead, and at least I get to enjoy deep house remixes of this wonderful collaboration. Hal Mel & The Bluenotes, feat Teddy Pendergrass was a pure golden sound, and I still love them.

A time when we had REAL MUSIC
Thank You.
Was a blessing from God and to bless black voice's to give the world
And to think, there are those that dismiss these grooves as merely Disco?! Thereby robbing themselves of the enjoyment of the arrangements, instrumentality, and varied voices coming together in a groovin’ song story. I said it in several words, but Mz Thompun, before me, said it in one--Soul is the word.
Not like the vomit we have to endure nowadays.
I remember watching this on Soul Train. NEVER missed it. EVERYTHING stopped in our house/neighborhood for one hour, EVERY SATURDAY from 12:00-1:00 for THIS! LOVED the commercials just as much during this hour. Good times

There is no other form of entertainment that touches you like R&B music... How did we lose this and how do we get it back ?
RIGHT
Motown best music ever! Greatings from Belgium.
Was 16 yrs.old when this came out in early 1973. Vietnam had a cease fire and funk - adelie- disco was hitting it big all across the USA!
The early 70s started s craze that made Saterday Night Fever explode by 1976-77. 3 piece suits and flared pants at bottom of pants in dress only. Semi- wide ties and semi- wide lapels. And , by 1981 that had changed too. Wrap and breakdancing set the hip/hop stage!
Were too deteriorated for it to ever come back
Voices like Teddy, Aretha, Levi, Al, Luther et all have now gone. All we have is the music they left to us. No-one will ever be as great as they were. (Al is still with us!)
