- Oshun is the Orisha of Love, fertility and all things sweet. This video shows you step by step on how to make an Oshun Acuaro Eleke. I will have other videos with her other paths as well. But in this video I give you some tips that help stick with tradition as well as so useful information on why certain colors are used in each eleke.

Great job explaining how to make it and the importance of the patterns! Please make more videos!
This is great! I am crowned a child of Obatala and I wanted to make my own new set elekes because I do other non-religious beading. I was looking for information on the pattern of the caminos of Orisha to make them correctly. I did ask my elders but I am looking for more technical instruction. When looking at sellers on Etsy, the same road of an Orisha can have a few variation, I want to be able to differentiate the flourish from the fundamental elements. Like you mention the addition of metal spacer beads, etc... those are acceptable in my Ile, they would be considered "Gala" elekes and would be consecrated in the same way a less fancy eleke would. Looking forward to more of your work. Thank you.
I have been wanting to learn so bad!!!!! Saving this so I can watch when I get home.
Thank you so much for this video, it is instructive, concise and to the point. Please make more.
Just wanted to show my appreciation, this video helped me tremendously ❤
Glad it helped!
Peace and Oneness to all. thank you for sharing with us! i will be looking forward to more of your videos.
❤Beautiful Work Ase
Thank you for this! This is AMAZING! Hopefully, you plan to make more videos! Please make some more! I learned a lot from this! Can you write out that prayer at the end when you are tying the knots?
Beautiful beading!
Thank you! 😊
Love!!
I like the way you explained the meaning of sequence and significance of the patterns but the only thing that needs improvement is your audio of the video is recorded very low. Please make more videos on each orisha eleke . Thanks for posting this video, I hope you’re doing more in the future!
Thanks for the tips!
the honey color beads what mm size are those? everything else was explained so beautifully. thank you. my 17 year old is starting her path and wants to learn all she can and she can't wait to get stared making these.
The body of the eleke can have either 6/0 (a slightly larger bead) or 8/0 (smaller bead). I find the 8/0 beads give the eleke a beautiful contrast to the houses. Also elekes made with 8/0 beads are lighter weight which is important especially for Iyawos that have to wear all their elekes all year.
what is the name of that clamp you use? Also could you in your next video show how you prepare the thread in the needle?
Hi. The clamp I use is called a Kumi weight Clamp with a gator clip. These can be found at your local hobby store or on Amazon.
Is your Ile pattern the pattern of your orisha path? Example: I'm Ololodi, so would all my elekes have a pattern of Ololodi included?
The Ile pattern is specific to your godparents lineage. For example in some Iles Aggayu has yellow in it and in other Iles it does not. Also in some Iles Oshun Ibukole has black while others Ibukole does not. I hope this helps.
Your volume is very low, I wonder if you could enable English subtitles? And provide a list of recommended tools and materials? With thanks.
Thank you for the tips. I will be posting a new videos soon and will definitely improve the volume quality.
Do I need to be initiated to make/have these
Hi. You do not need to be initiated to make them. However, you do need it be initiated to bless and consecrate them. This is done in a separate special ceremony.
Where do I buy everything to create one
You can find most of the items at your local Michaels or even on Amazon. Specialty beads can be found on Etsy as well.
They have to be consecrated first (fed)
If not it’s just plain old jewelry
Yes! Absolutely!
