- Rare Episode 8 performance from Series 8 of The Generation Game hosted by Larry 'Shut that door' Grayson (born William White) & assisted by his co-star Isla St Clair (born Isabella Margaret Dyce)
Here Legs (minus Sue & Lulu) but with Floid (and his new chums Spencer, Terry & Trevor) demonstrate the fickle art of crap disco dancing (here doing a mutated version of The Hustle/Bus Stop - that was taught to the aged by slimy haired Travolta wannabes up and down the country) to Night Fever by The Bee Gees, watched by a bemused audience and a flustered camp king Larry Grayson (champion of Everhard and Apricot Lil) and the quite pleasant looking Isla St Clair (the older mans crumpet), on hand to judge 'Grayson's Groovers' is Flick Colby.
It'll end in tears you know, all together now 'Isla, the scores on the doors'
This first appeared on the channel in a truncated form and shocking quality, but here we present the full clip bookended with the titles and the conveyor belt of fire damaged goodies.
EEeeeeeh that is just the tonic I needed, my neighbours must be wondering if I'm ok because I'm laughing so much. Love every bit of it
do miss him there's no one like him & never will be RIP LARRY
Whenever I see Larry I smile and feel comforted, a truly nice man who clearly adored his friends. He and Isla were wonderful together and the whole GG show on Saturdays represented a high spot of the week. Thanks Larry, RIP
This is what Saturday tv was all about
Time is cruel but we need to be taught it in watching these times long past with People long gone to appreciate everything /one that's around us now. Dont waste a moment being sad, miserable or found wanting.. Appreciate everything now before it too is gone forever.
That light blue hand knit two piece is EPIC !!!!!!
Those mincing looks to camera ! love it !!!!
Both couples were great.. Couldn't choose, loved Joan in the classic 70s dress and Steven in black.. But both were fun to watch.. I loved the show as a kid and its still good now.. Time is cruel and we need to be taught by these things to appreciate what's around us now.
I grew up with these two, I had a crush on her....:)
didn't we all gorgeous
Many thanks for posting this lovely footage.
This was BBC Light Entertainment at it's very best.
Pairing Larry Grayson with Isla St Clair was a stroke of pure genius!
Alan Boyd (supported by Bill Cotton Jnr.) deserves full credit.
It was always a pleasure to work with 'Legs & Co'! The 'Legs' girls are Gill, Rosie (front) Pauline & Patti (rear). Lulu & Sue are missing.
The 'out of vision' (conveyor belt) voice is that of Tony Hawes who was married to Stan Laurel's Daughter, Lois. Sadly, Tony passed away quite a few years ago. Larry, Ronnie Hazlehurst and indeed Flick Colby have also sadly departed.
It is very sad that people who understood Television inside out are no longer with us. I note that the late Robin Nash appears in the credits of this show.
Another one of the dancers Patti sadly passed in sept 2021.
12:07 - “By the way, I know your face ever so well”!!! 😆😆😆 Loved Larry, never failed to raise a laugh! 🙂👍
Would anybody really dance like that today 🤣
Larry was a great showman God bless him
Classic. Hilarious. Larry is, and was, such an under-rated comedian. His Generation Game series with the beautiful Isla were the best. They were a team, she wasn't just there for decoration, unlike Bruce and Anthea. I wish they'd release them all on DVD but I doubt they ever will. I have some on a few old video tapes and they're like medicine, take me back to happy days of fun TV, simple game shows.
+Sandra Keeley PLEASE put them on you tube. I agree with everything you state here, absolutely brilliant. Everyone loved Larry.
Larry was so unique, Mike. I can't get this video up anymore, sadly. But, I have some of the Generation Game shows on DVD now, including this show with Grayson's Groovers, copied by people. They really need to be released on DVD officially. He is so under-rated, like his time with the Generation Game. Love to watch Larry and Isla. Perfect team.
Watch the interview Larry does with Diana Dors think it is 1974, you can see the real affection they had for each other.
+Mike Hudson I'll definitely have to watch that. Thanks for recommending it.
Used to watch this each Saturday at grandmas and granddads I was 8 true entertainment Larry was such a comedian without going over the top rip Larry missed even all these years on
All those dancers are in their seventies & eighties now!
I wish Challenge would show all of Larry's 'Generation Games'
They did about 15 years ago but never since, a real shame
LOVED LARRY. REST IN PEACE XXXX
‘Always has a nice suit. I think he dresses to the left,” My Nan would chip in, without fail every week. I miss’em all. Shut Tha’ Door!
Larry was very funny. The blonde girl front right was absolutely gorgeous !
What has happened to TV? It used to be so gentle and charming.
Now it's just smug dickheads like Paddy McGuinness and Stephen Mulhern.
Larry Grayson. What a truly, lovely, gentle man he was. And wasn't Joan lovely as well.
Mrs Bee, aynı dili konuşmasak da müzik dilimiz sizinle aynı.Paylaşımlarınız bana hitap ediyor.Çok teşekkür ediyor ve Türkiye'den sevgilerimi gönderiyorum.Hakan
I was too young to know what it was that Isla was doing to my body
Would've loved to have gone on a long unsupervised tour of the Isla St. Clair, bet there was many nooks and crannies worth investigating
Fire damaged goodies? I'll have you know they were gathering dust in the bins behind the "Blankety Blank" studio.
Has sound again......
Wow
its funny them calling it a 'duvet' as in the 70s they were referred to as 'continental quilts'
2.22 I certainly would.
Wasn't flick the choreographer on 3,2,1 as well?
would help if this video had sound
A yogurt maker hahahahaha that's hilarious ! who on earth made their own yogurt in the 70s ???? My dad was suspicious of yogurt and remains so to this day !!
It was a fad, and resurfaced in the late 90s.
Shame I have no sound x
Where's the sound?
No sound?
shame no volume on it
No sound.
how shit was life circa 1980?
