Cork is known as the rebel county, most of its inhabitants think that is because of the county's roll in the Irish war of Independence, but it is actually because of the areas support for Perkin Warbeck and Lambert Simnel, it doesn't go down to well when a Dubliner points that out during a drinking session. Henry said of the Irish after , "I suppose they will crown an ape next". 😂. Thanks Hilbert, I enjoyed it.

The house of York (Richard Plantagenet) could claim the throne through his descent from Lionel of Antwerp, the second surviving son of Edward III. On it's own the Yorkist line was junior to the Lancastrians.

Just for clarity's sake, that isn't what a pretender is. The meaning of "pretend" in English has changed. It didn't used to mean feigning. It meant to attempt to become. So a pretender wasn't someone acting like they were a different person, but someone trying to obtain a different position.
For example, James II's son James and his son Charles are known as the Old and the Young Pretender, not because they pretended to be different people in the modern sense, but because they were trying to obtain the throne.

I am enjoying your videos, and have a questions, "have you done anything about Empress Maud [a.k.a. Princess/Queen Matilda]?" That is a fascinating story, with the kind of intrigue you seem to like. I have read three treatments that seemed to be about entirely different people, the topic obviously needs better treatment. If you have done it, where can I find it, and if you haven't would you be inclined to do so?
    Best wishes.

Plantagenets most famous kings were Henry II Edward I and III and Richard I. So everyone is named Henry, Edward or Richard. Also Edward IV marriage to Elizabeth Woodville leads to there being a number of Elizabeths right down to James I daughter through whom we get George I and then there are six Georges. Lastly every generation since Victoria has had at least 1 who had Albert as one of there four given names including Prince Harry.

At the chard with descendants of Richard of York, you put Edward IV as Edward V

  • @gaelicfleur-de-lis6219

I thought Lambert impersonated Edward (Teddy) Plantagenet, Duke of Warwick. Which was pretty stupid because Henry the 7th had the real Duke in the tower. Perkin Warbeck impersonated the younger brother of Edward V, Richard of York. Well I don't believe that warbeck really was Richard, I also don't think that Richard III had the boys executed. It doesn't make any sense as he had them declared illegitimate. Why go through all that trouble if you're just going to kill them? Not to mention he wasn't even in London when the boys "disappeared". Personally I think Margaret Beaufort had the boys killed during the failed rescue attempt. Her son would have never become king while those boys lived regardless if he married Elizabeth of York or not. Her husband Lord Stanley was high enough in the court to have access to the Tower and she was part of the conspiracy to free the Princes. I wouldn't call myself a Richard III supporter, and he did a lot of evil things during his 2-year reign. But I don't see him murdering his nephews. It would only work against him, and he was smart enough to know that. Trouble is he was so hated by the end of his reign that everybody believed that he was responsible.
