Cody was 3rd. Bradley beat him too and with more than a second and was really close to Cameron. So the face should be even worse :D
I think we were expecting that though, Emmett has shown himself to be probably the fastest of the guys

This show unfortunately has bit too much "set up" for my taste... Like how they push the product placement so much or how they protect their "pro racers" etc...
@@trkoo I too agree, it would be nice to see them (the pro) ride a bit.... are they racing on the same day, same condition ? what is their current rank on the EWS ?
Emmett as a lot of potential, being so close/beating the pro, but remember that it's his home resort (if i'm not mistaking) so he has some advantage there over the others, including the pro. Nevertheless, he has to compose with the stress of elimination and not being able to do a second lap if he crashes, not sure the Pro would not have a relap in the event of a crash, so they propably take more chance and push harder.
@@trkoo well, they kinda have to protect the pros. imagine it got out that X pro sponsored by rockshox and evil is riding orbea and fox... the pros sponsors might not like that much.
@Pinkbike, next time put the tent and the monster hydro table exactly on the final line so you can be sure that it gets on the way of every rider when crossing the line and struggling to stop.

I hope that "you got lucky" comment was Flo calling Cody on that his "getting the ball" comment, a little cocky for a guy who could have gone home last week. haha, still, glad he pulled it out and put up some solid times!

Cody has an attitude problem. His reaction when it didn't go well for him was enlightening. When combined with this arrogance when it went well...? I'm waiting for the next time it does't go well. So far, I'd be hard pressed to hire him to represent my brand. That said I'm American and want to see him get his head straight and win it.

How was that cocky? He was stating a fact. Other than the first day, where he did indeed get lucky they weren't eliminating people, they are not giving the ball back. He sees that now. They all see that now.

Orbea is looking for an all around good rider. Being positive helps but if you can’t adapt to different terrain how can they go after top spots at competitions?
@@DavidFoundCo Crashing doesn't mean you can't adapt, it means you crashed. If they're looking for an EWS racer then they should do another 5 races, after that she's gonna be better than the rest because she's so much fitter.

Said it last week, ill say it again. I don't think that one should be sent home every week. Tally points up then in the final make the call. EG Cody could have gone last week. But did really good this week. By loosing a rider each episode you're potentially loosing someone who could win and were missing good viewing.

it's disappointing, elimination style is old school and they shouldve known, this whole show is about $$$ so why they didnt maximise their thinking beyond 2005 models is beyond me.
Tori won me over far more than anyone else in this competition. Totally bummed that she is gone.
Tori should not have gone home!! She’s one of the strongest female riders at the academy and has the best attitude!… results should carry over from previous days. doesn’t make sense not to take an athletes complete performance into review

Totally agree that she should of not gone, score should be added up each week/day to see who is the most rounded rider of the girls and boys instead of just taking it off each event/race, so now you have at least two of the girls that are not as strong as tori overall, she had one bad day and she gone not really fair considering how Cody started is it……..👎
Tori will forever be the champion in my heart. Win or lose, she has a heart of gold!
100% agree, they are all good competitors etc but the girl(German!) Never once looked happy even after winning a round! Tori had the overall package for a cycling brand.
Though she would be at least till the end !

After it's revealed Emmett inevitably wins this season, there needs to be a local rider embargo for Season 3. No riders from within 150km of HQ.
He does have a significant home advantage, but it’s not all on trails he’s ridden before. Slalom and ftp test for example level the field to some extent.

@@spdnik2568 Yes, we saw how the grass slalom evened the field, however I have doubts Emmett would have beat the secret pro had he not been familiar with the terrain. Make no mistake, Emmett is probably the fastest rider of all the contestants regardless of where it was held, so let's take nothing away from him, but there is an advantage to being a local. EWS is six races around the globe in different terrain, PB Academy is isolated to one mountainside.
Agreed 100 percent. I really felt bad for fella last week. I would image the altitude, soil composition is hard enough deal with, let alone the trail fairies own flair on the mountain. Everyone knows locals always perform well, it’s only when you take them to somewhere different that truely shows the talent. Not saying Emmett isn’t talented, just really need to see how he performs in South America for example
@@cup_and_cone Emmett actually won an EWS pro stage in u21 this season and he was top 10 at most of the elite dh races he did in the BC cups this season, he's a very fast rider everywhere and he's been living in squamish for a while now too
I think cody gave emmett even more of an advantage by giving him a chance to show he can perform under pressure

Israel wasn't a strong rider so he was always going to end up going. Tori is a bit of a weird pick though.

WOW, one bad run and gone. Imagine riders like Sam Hill having a bad run (with a crash) in this show and they'd be out. Gives no credit for overall performance over a time frame, like a full season would be. DEFINITELY not the worst rider in the field of contestants. What a shame. I hope it wasn't or isn't a one week a guy goes then next week its a girls turn. This episode also truly showed Cody's true colours and I'll say it again I wouldn't want him repping my brand if I was in the industry.
It would make more sense to keep everyone until the end and have a cumulative score or something similar to determine the winner, since everyone would display different strengths and weaknesses

@@rpiian yeah they call it pinkbike academy but they don't even seem to be teaching them anything... Like do the riders have any kind of coach? And then just sending people home for one bad result after a killer result the week before... Bad judging so far
I think ben cathro would be so sick to be here with this, to help the riders with coaching and shit, getting the lines, just overall a proper geezer, would be pretty sick to see tho
Cody was less that .5 seconds faster than the Cam, who stated that he struggles with that type of riding, and Cody was boasting about how that was his forte. Cody is about to go home

I watch this because it's the only mountain biking show of it's kind, but seriously: The competition isn't even close, it's insane that elimination is based on a single challenge rather than everything up to that point and Jason has as much Charisma as a packet of biscuits.

Cody was a little too happy to put Emmet down and a little to quiet when he got beat anyways. That doesn’t really show a lot of class.
Not to mention its a stupid strategy to put the penalty on the leader. Its an elimination, he should've penalized someone closer to his level to get that rider to the bottom of the chart and keep himself safe.
Tori was my favorite rider by far. She is so positive, and mentally tough. Hope this experience will only motivate her to push harder and become what she wants to be. Best wishes to you!!!

@@alex.huyhuy not to be reductive, but I have a suspicion I know Emmitt very well. I've known alot of "Emmitts". Some people wear their heart on their sleeve, like Cody for example, who is completely transparent about his thought process, even when he doesn't mean to be. Some players are more restrained, and not all players are going to communicate their values the way that Isreal and Tori do, and it's too bad, they're beautiful people.

Agreed! The intent behind the PB Academy is to choose a future EWS rider, so why not implement a point system just like in the EWS ? Plus that way you can track the progression of each riders and not send home someone that could potentially be a good rider just like in this episode. And it can be a way to see which riders are the more consistent.
Cody’s reaction to being bested by someone ain’t classy, nor healthy for him.
Failure is an intrinsic part in human development. If you don’t accept it graciously and keep it in your mind only as fuel to drive you forward, at some point you will hit a wall you can’t climb.
And the only way to climb that wall is to focus on getting better. No blame calling. No focusing on the cardinal mistake. No excuses.
PS: Word of appreciation for Tori, she did fantastic throughout, and will be missed!
Lame! Tori was charging after that lay down. She was the one doing the doubles on the woops not BMX girl. She's also got the best attitude of the ladies. The rest of them are quick to complain.

I think the reality style is engaging enough to keep me interested and be entertaining. I mean let’s face it I’m going watch every episode the day it comes out. But adding the raw footage as an extra element outside of the usual episodes could be cool for those that want it. The majority of people likely don’t want to watch top to bottom runs and PB have to do the thing that appeals to the majority with their main content. This format also helps engage beginner riders and grow the sport which is only a good thing.
Great show! Sad to see anyone go home, but it is a competition. Very impressed with riders redeeming themselves after previous challenge and Tori's words after hearing she was eliminated were awesome. Tori is a strong athlete who will succeed and using this setback as motivation is priceless. Don't give up Tori!

Honnestly Cody pisses me off. His body language, his behaviour, he comes off as really arrogant. His stupid comment on "you drop the ball once" as Tori got kicked out was quite out of line when you look at how bad he did the first two challenges. Hoping he's the next to get out

I would find pinkbike acadamy more interesting if they would keep all the riders in and count the points at the end of the season to see who wins. It seems like that would be more fair, but more important it would make for better content

It's shame losing good rider every single week, and losing potential to see points where they would excel.
I believe this should be done in a way of enduro races.
If the whole show is filmed with an intention of say 9 weeks viewing time, do 3 stages, 1 stage a week, and 1 stage consists of few challenges.
Putting these together in 1 stage, after that said stage you can kick out a person with far better showcase and knowledge of their skills.

She's a really strong, skilled rider with great potential, but she's never even done an enduro race. If she really wants to pursue this sport she needs to pony up a few entry fees herself(like the rest of us), and see if it's really for her, before a company just hands her a pro contract. Having non-racers in this contest is kind of a head scratcher, to be honest.
@@markchalloner5883 There was no opportunity for Tori (or Kyra) to race regionally in the last year because of covid. This was her first shot. And if you do your homework you'll see she "ponied up" for several races this year after the academy finished. Everyone who applied for the show got picked fair and square. Having less experienced racers makes it interesting and more relatable IMO

Imagine a show called Pink Bike Academy where contestants were given a skill or task to work on for a week, maybe given some coaching by a pro or two, and then given a trial at the end of that week (Maybe there would even be a scoring system involved…) Seems like Orbea and Shimano would get a better rider for their investment, and we the viewers would get a lot more out of it than just watching interviews about people’s feelings. Oh yeah and add Ben Cathro to the cast to lighten things up. Here’s hoping for season 3…

This challenge didn’t make any sense whatsoever, what’s the point of winning the challenge if there is a chance of have a disadvantage then. And to me doesn’t make sense to send someone home just because that day wasn’t their day or weren’t that good at that particular challenge cause every single one of us are stronger in some stuffs and weak on another’s so, so you should change your format a little bit to make it more fair, by the way I hope Flo wins it🤘🏻

After last week I have a Christina Chappetta in my head on the trainer or on hard climbs shouting “you can do anything for a minute!”
Tori is very inspirational and would be a great role model.
This elimination format makes no sense. Elimination should come in after cumulative scoring over at least a few episodes. Some riders will be stronger at tech, others at grass(?) or flow, and fitness. Then there's attitude. You're turning this into a 'Survivor' series. Unfortunately, you may not get to the best rider. What if Emmett had slid out in the grass or Flo had scratched the dirt? They're out? Still, I'm enjoying Season 1 & 2. Great idea- keep fine tuning.
