Probably one of the best CNJ main line action videos uploaded, very impressed!

I can’t believe this is 8MM film transfer. I was guessing this was originally 16MM. I lived along the Raritan Valley line in the late 80s and early 90s and loved seeing these old stations. One of my favorites here, thank you!

Not a wide cab in sight. Excellent footage with audio too! Thank you much for uploading and narrating!

this just brings me back to my child hood in plainfield nj, i would go up to plainfield station and watch freight after freight train on Saturdays then go to the hobbyshop and try to buy the freightcars i just saw. i was lucky that my grandmother lived a block from the old cnj yard in plainfield .

Starting at 6:37 is a rare view of CNJ 3067 (the Red Baron). The Red Baron was repainted with the company emblem. That last lasted for a few weeks. The stripes came after. The movie was taken around July 1972. Again, that is a rare shot of CNJ 3067. Thank you for sharing.

I loved hanging out on the Cranford platform as a kid watching the freights and commuter runs back in the early '70s.

What a mood video. Gorgeous old diesels. I noticed some GP30s. I am South African, but fell in love with U.S. trains in the late 70, early 80s. Seeing the WTC being built gave me shivers. I looked into 9/11.

John, this is great, original sound? If not it’s incredibly well synched.

great video ! this really is gold to me building and running this period in n scale. Knowing the bad state CNJ was in i am surprised to see all these clean commuter trains. Very nice video, thanks !

For a financially troubled railroad, CNJ ran some fast commuter trains.

On many of these videos I hear the narrator (and I LOVE his narration!) get in jabs about Ardmore people. Can you give us some explanation of what “Ardmore” is?
