This is an accurate review, I have this camera in 3 of my cars. I ended up getting the adhesive gps mounts and I use the low bitrate recording for parking mode in case anything happens but It will take longer to find. It definitely isn’t a 4K camera but it’s best just to use it as a 3 channel (which was its intended purpose). But has been good for us and saved us in an accident in which a person ran their red light 5 seconds late and hit us (they said they had a green light). This is a good no frills camera. Vantrue’s update is the new 3 channel S2 which has wifi, adhesive mount to windshield, has gps. It still has the same 1440p front, 1080p interior, and 1080 rear but I’ve seen some people mention that the actual picture quality is better (I’m assuming it’s a higher bit rate like you have mentioned in this video) Great review! 👍🏾

Definitely consider it. I have one and came in handy when I was involved in a bit and run. It proved I wasn't at fault. Think of them like insurance. You might never need it but when the time comes be glad you have it 👍🏻😎

10:30 . The dashcam does record the cabin at night in color or black and white. You just have to press the power button to switch. And I left mine in color for both night and day time.
Hard pass. I am so glad I got my VIOFO for cheaper while doing better things for my needs. Thank you to the best and most unbias youtube reviewer I have ever come across.

@@surii867 I did..... However due to the mount being permanent I have to do a lot of rewiring to move my R7 and rerun the wires for the cam.... I used it from the car charger tho..... Awesome Camera!
@@VortexRadar yes primarily, but the separate interior camera is nicer to be able to tuck them in better locations. I had the Viofo 3 channel prior but I had issues with it and it's automatic g-sensor when driving (I have subwoofers) plus I had issues with the 3 wire parking mode.
Got into a crash with this camera and the rear channel cut out. Also, despite using USB connectors, you have to use their proprietary cables. Not recommended
There are smaller mounts with GPS that use 3M tape. I have the N2 Pro and the N4S as it's upgrade. People always complement me on the video quality. What ever they do with the IMX335 sensor is good.
The amazon listing shows front and inside as 1440p, and rear as 1080p. The pro version is apparently 4k/1080p/1080p for Front/Inside/Rear. If true, this model (N4 non-pro) seems like the better option.

Glad you reviewed the Vantrue N4 because I had subscribed to your channel and consider you as one of the best reviewers on CZcams with thorough and concise comments aside from the fact that you place actual images of the quality of each one of the dash cam images in different light situations. I purchased this dash cam about a month ago and I’m pretty satisfied with it so far. This is my first dash cam. I did a lot of research though for months before finally settling for this one. However, I noticed that while driving my car at night the license plates of coming cars and the ones coming from the rear were not legible in low light conditions.or even well lit places. We must take in consideration that although is not a 4K cam its resolution it still quite good at 1440p front and 1080 p rear. My question is, does a 4K dash cam be able to capture license plates in low lit places while the car is moving or in parking mode? or that would still be a problem for a 4K dash cam. Because I did considered the Thinkware U1000 and the Blackvue DR900x plus 2 channel before deciding for the Vantrue, but decided for the latter because of the price and the many positive reviews on Amazon. I’d appreciate an answer. It would’ve been nice to compare the Vantrue to the other top 4ks you have reviewed in the past to see how well it stands next to the top models in different light conditions.
The suction cup mount dash cams just do not stay on especially in hot Florida weather. I had one of the first Vantrue cams and I would frequently find the camera had detached from the windshield and fallen on the floor. My dash cams all have the 3m tape.
Oh yikes. I've seen that with putting them on my rear window as a temporary rear dashcam, but I figured they'd be better for windshields. It looks like Vantrue does offer doublestick tape mounts that otherwise work similarly to their suction cup ones if you'd prefer that. amzn.to/3pueZo9
All I want from a dash cam is 1 that's quality that works.. I've has so many that don't. Or start acting up or just not user friendly. If you know one let me know..

Good video quality, but I prefer 4K video, a more compact and stable mount, and buffered parking recording. Cloud functionally is a nice bonus too, but extra. I'd personally go for something like a Viofo A139 over the N4 (solid mount, separate interior cam, better parking recording), but I like the Vantrue for rentals with the suction cup mount.
So do I understand correctly that this: Does NOT auto record and send it to a cloud, since it doesn't have wifi? If that's the case than it wont be very effective in a daycamper/vanlife situation due to Road Pirates in Europe. I have to somehow "suspect" I'm going to be robbed, and THEN turn the camera on. And when camping in the van, it can even entice them even more to break in and steal the camera worth 300 USD. Correct? If so would be so thankful for an alternative solution. Is there a good camera that’s 4 channels 4k or better with lte cloud capable I was looking at the Vantrue n5 but not 4 k or lte I looked at the Vantrue n4 pro but no lte I looked at the Vantrue s1 pro but not 4 channel or 4 k but it has lte my wife and I are Uber and Lyft drivers it’s disappointing that there is not a manufacturer that can make this happen I also looked at the next base IQ there’s a lot of bad reviews and Blackvue there’s no 4 k with 3-4 channel without buying 2 DR970X-2CH Plus IR camera and viofo dash cam dose not have lte cloud I just wish these manufacturers would make one camera that can do it all

Hey Vortex. Looking for a good set-up to use in a rental. I like Vantrue cameras for ease of removal, but wondering how you mounted the rear camera. Did you just use the 3M/sticky tape? And how difficult was it to remove off the rental? Thanks.
Yeah I've got a roll of 3M doublestick tape at home and use it to attach the camera to the window. The included tape is super strong and hard to remove which is great for permanent installs. I use weaker tape for temporary installs and it works fine. :)
Dude can you review one of the fitcamx dash cams? I really like how it integrates into the car and looks like it came from the factory, but I don’t want to get it if it sucks performance wise.

In the first 2 minutes of the video you talked about the Lamborghini like it was more of a review of the sports car. I will not repeat here the details you read in the prior comment that I deleted. But those sentiments are generally true for me. I generally like tech reviews to be short, concise, straight to the point, very well thought out and using less words to drive the point home. Most tech reviewers stretch their videos for monetary reasons and just do a lot of hot air talking. There's usually no reason for a tech review to be 17 minutes long for a dash cam. However.... ...your video is a unicorn. Your video was very necessary. I have never seen anyone provide content that long in duration in which just about every detail that is spoken is not only relevant, but is very practical, very useful, and even profitable for the viewer. For that reason alone, that blows my mind and this is the first video I've ever seen from your channel. I am a new fan. At precisely 2:25 into the video, that's when I noticed that you jumped right into the tech review. It was in that moment that I thought to myself, "Okay. Maybe two and a half minutes on the Lambo wasn't that bad, let's see what this gentleman can deliver on in his review." That's when I paused the video right at that precise millisecond, went back to my comments section and deleted my comment. I wanted to provide the benefit of the doubt and watch the whole thing through. This was a great technical review. It wasn't trying to monetize. It actually was providing useful information all the way through and through. I apologize if I start with you. Please accept my deepest gratitude and thanks for such an amazing video. If you want to do more exotic cars, two and a half minutes is just right. LOL... Then jump straight into tech review and provide as much detail and nerdy, geeky info as you did in this video. This was fantastic. I love how you then peppered little bits and pieces of the Lambo experience throughout with brief little mentionables here and there without making it feel like you transition from a tech review right back into an automotive review. I don't know brother, you balanced it out well somehow. You just need to rewatch this video again and keep that formula. Lol Thank you for this content. You did an absolute excellent job.
Oh wow thank you for the detailed feedback! That was super helpful to hear your thought process. :) Yeah usually my reviews are detailed and in-depth focusing on just the dashcam. For the sake of variety I wanted to try something different with the lambo stuff. Hopefully it helped make things more fun, but ultimately I don’t know lol. Either way the video is still focused on the dashcam. In the future I can try and emphasize that earlier on to hopefully minimize any confusion. :)

Are you going to review the n5? I have the n3 currently and not sure if I want the n4 or n5. It looks like the n5 uses 3m adhesive on the front camera like the it does on the back camera for n3 and n4. I’d much rather have the section cup for the front I believe. And did I hear correct that the n4 doesn’t have wifi? I thought it did
@@VortexRadar apparently people are having an issue with the SD cards running out of memory because the camera isn’t automatically overwriting the footage
It’ll work, but personally I prefer the Viofo options. czcams.com/video/KL-ycfuN8X4/video.html For parking mode you use a special cable that wires into your car battery and lets the dashcam record until the voltage drops to a preset level where it shuts off the dashcam. You can also get aftermarket battery packs too.

I run the Blackvue DR900X+ in my car as my main cam, primarily for the cloud features. The A229 is one that I'm running for testing/review purposes and then I'll probably remove it.
Would you recommend the viofo 139 over the N4 ?? I had purchased the N4 on Amazon along with the hardwiring but canceled it soon as I seen your videossss . I’m looking for great quality, great parking mode and 3 ch ! Appreciate your time!
Would you mind sharing your test footage comparing a high end dashcam vs a 10 yr old phone? I’ve been testing some of the claims Linus has made and others who watched his video made and it turns out some of them aren’t true. It’s been very surprising and even I was wrong about the effectiveness of newer tech, specifically when used for dashcam applications. I’ve got a video to share later this week and while I test and learn, it’d be helpful to see your and other people’s test footage too.

Loved my N4, had it for a week now. With both hard wired and GPS mount.
I have the N4. I love it. But I want to get the 3 channel blackvue 750x plus with LTE module.
What makes you wanna switch? The cloud functionality primarily?

The lack of a functional one-touch button to mark a locked recording is a truly egregious oversight that rules it out as a legit option on its own.

That’s normal and even 4K dashcams struggle to j those situations. I’ll explain in more detail in my next video.

Yep! I have one, but I’ve got 2 or 3 dashcams in the queue ahead of it so it’ll be a while before I get to the N5 and N4 Pro.

Are you going to review the n5? I have the n3 currently and not sure if I want the n4 or n5. It looks like the n5 uses 3m adhesive on the front camera like the it does on the back camera for n3 and n4. I’d much rather have the section cup for the front I believe. And did I hear correct that the n4 doesn’t have wifi? I thought it did

You definitely need some carpet on that dash.
Yes, I have the N4 and I put the carpet dash covers on to reduce the glare since it’s doesn’t have a CPL filter.
Any details re: 4K mode? I can imagine many will only have outside facing and rear windshield camera.

Is this the dashcam you would recommend to use for uber? Also, do these drain batteries of cars? How do I prevent this?

For parking mode you use a special cable that wires into your car battery and lets the dashcam record until the voltage drops to a preset level where it shuts off the dashcam.
You can also get aftermarket battery packs too.

You can reference the manual. I don't keep those facts memorized for every dashcam, lol. It can vary between one model/manufacturer and another.

I run the Blackvue DR900X+ in my car as my main cam, primarily for the cloud features. The A229 is one that I'm running for testing/review purposes and then I'll probably remove it.

Would you mind sharing your test footage comparing a high end dashcam vs a 10 yr old phone? I’ve been testing some of the claims Linus has made and others who watched his video made and it turns out some of them aren’t true. It’s been very surprising and even I was wrong about the effectiveness of newer tech, specifically when used for dashcam applications. I’ve got a video to share later this week and while I test and learn, it’d be helpful to see your and other people’s test footage too.
