Will a KA24de fit into a 300zx Z32?? + RC Drifting

- I've always thought the 300zx Z32 chassis would have been better off with a straight cylinder set up, such as an RB20 or SR20. Unfortunately those motors cost an arm and a leg now, so I decided to put a KA24de into my project car instead.
I found an adapter kit, made my xcessive motorsports, that adapts the stock 300zx transmission to the ka24de. This kit was designed to be used for a transmission upgrade for the 240sx S13 and S14 chassis. I decided to test my abilities on putting this engine in the 300zx!

The RC footage is so sick, what a vibe, please show more from future events!
Will do! 🔥
I'm sure the starter placement was only there to make room for the turbos and downpipes on the vg30. Glad it all worked out 👍🏾
That's very true! Good point, I didn't even think about that
@@PrizzaMike buenas compañero, soy de España y llevo apoyando y viendo el canal mucho tiempo y me gustaría comprar un RC de drift como los vuestros, ¿donde lo podria comprar? Espero que puedas ayudarme
@@juanmanuelcobo9097 Try googling the name of the RC cars the guy mentioned on the video, it should show you a website to buy them from
@@nzuncovered1845 vale tu sabes, ¿como se llaman esos coches de Rc que marca son?, porque no encuentro en el video o no entiendo cual es la marca, para que me ayudes a buscarlos
@@juanmanuelcobo9097 He said one was a MST RSX the other was a Rhino-max V2. Also Yokomo make RC drift cars
Haha I made it in the video!
It was a pleasure to finally meet you Mike!
I look forward to seeing what 2023 has in store for both of us! 🙌
Great content Mike. Two things coming from a car veteran is wire brush does wonders and save rags and the other end of the Micrometer is for measuring depth. Better for the dowel pin measurement. I was going to say something about the pilot bushing but you figured it out. Some cars actually use a bearing. One last thing brake clean is a mechanics best friend. You could never have to much. Or a pressure washer. Clean that engine before install.😂

Never seen rc drifting look so cool
5:41 you can use the pin that slides out the back of the mircometer to measure deapth 👌🏻
this is true
Ahhh idk how I didn't know that haha
Thanks for the tip!
This is really interesting actually, in my country we didnt get the ka24, our silvias and 180sx's got the sr20 so this is super cool to watch a whole other countries perspective
Are u from australia?
@@jackstand240 yeh
Hey Mike, those throw out bearings were the same. In some Nissans, they use a bearing and a bearing "sleeve" that presses into the bearing itself. That bottom section of the old bearing just presses out and into the new bearing. Its the same kind of setup on the 350Z's.
Was gonna say looks just like the setup on a CD trans
I understand the bearing gets pressed off
The new bearing was for a KA24de which differs from a vg30
@@PrizzaMike Im fairly certain theyre the same part. Nissan used the same throw out for most rwd manual transmissions.
Even if not, the pressure plate is for a KA anyway. Was the OD of the sleeve incorrect for the ID of the bearing?
Your a natural presenter Mike … your commentaries are great and very interesting …. I’m not normally one for “build” videos… but can’t stop watching yours …well done buddy …
Looking good there, Mike! Get a "Helicoil" thread insert kit for the stripped starter bolt hole. You can get large kits with various thread inserts & tools. Cheers. Leigh.

I'm so jealous! Being able to build cars and RC drift with your brother. I live all the way in Japan, a million miles away from my family. Cherish these moments, man.
keep up the work man, you are carry'ing the car community with your vids. Love watching your video's
I do rc crawling scale looking ones. But dig the rc drift the cars look awesome in the way people dress them up.
I used to think that once a car is totaled that is it . That was before I started watching your CZcams videos since you started the rebuild on your 240 . My mindset has changed anything is fixable
I’m interested to know the weight difference between the vg and ka , this swap is intriguing to me for the weight and size difference and I’m not too familiar with ka’s but I’m sure it’s much easier to make some power with them than the vg for the fact of you can probably get to a whole lot more things on the ka than the vg while in the car, anyways love the videos bro can’t wait to see more vids on the z
YES. I was secretly hoping you would do this when I saw you picked it up from the junkyard
Great camera angles and footage… def need more rc drift footage.. the cars was 🔥🔥🔥
The background in the lil rc event was 🔥🔥
From the lowrider jumping as yall drifted past to the bronco with the 240z on the trailer🔥🔥🔥
Keep it up, love all the work u put into your channel..
I used to put bread or an old soap bar into the pilot bushing hole then use an extension bar with a hammer and "hydraulically" push the bush out haha
Rc footage makes me want to blow the dust off my rc and slide it again lol. Smooth driving !
Love your videos. Your a wizard when it comes to these motors. Keep up the good work
My 1989 240SX engine had that much road grime and oil on it when I bought it back in 2004!
i love how you explain most things you do , solid content man been binge watching your channel for the past couple of weeks
keep up the content man loving it
I'm such a big fan, keep up the great videos. I would love to see the work truck get some new rear hatch struts.
hey so i did a auto to manual swap 350z and how i got the pilot bushing out was i put alot of geese then pushing the geese with a big bolt so the geese pushed it out hella easy
Bro. Next time. Take a tool that has the exact same size as the inside diameter of the pilot bushing and put bread in it. And hammer it in with your tool. The pilot bearing walk out pretty good. I did this with a slice of pizza on my ae86😂
This comment makes me unusually happy
Love the rc section! Definitely need more of that whenever you can! Thanks for the dope vid!
More to come! 🔥
Loving the Z32 content, another great vid as usual
The coolant lines that hook to the intake u can delete completely will only be a headache in the future u can just run one straight from the water pump back to the heater core
Killer video dude. Keep it up!!!!!
The throw bearing is right but you need to pull out with a press the sleeve with the snap ring on the back and then re-press the new one on the old sleeve
Weather looking nice where you are, finally 😎
Love your content dude! You're a huge inspiration.
BTW The other end of those calipers you have should have a depth gauge that you can use to measure how tall something is. I noticed you were using a different part of them to measure how far out the dowel pin was, not a problem just wasn't sure if you were aware
You work hard man. It's inspiring
I love your channel bro. Stay on the grind
such a sick video keep up the good work
Genuinely one of my favorite motors in my favorite chassis if there was a kit to buy this i would buy a 300zx as my drift car lmao, always been one of my dream swaps.
“Did it blow up? 2023” some day someone will find it 😂
Hey Mike this thing you grinded down 7:40 on the crank, Nissan have same stuff on many AT engines like my friends R30 Skyline with CA18 had one and the same car but MT one had a bearing in crank
Love the video I always use an open ended spanner and bolt it too the flywheel using the clutch bolts and a bellhousing bolt locking it up it’s always worked great :)
nice RC content! thats a real fun side hobby
I know it is dirty, but the grease gun pilot bushing removal tool is the way to go. Lisle part number: 55600. I am starting the KA24 swap on a z32 soon, so it's nice to see this video.
I would love to see someone mess with the supercharged ka from a frontier or xterra. Biggest issue I can think of is fuel and ecu choice. Pretty sure it would need a standalone. Imagine the torque from that thing.
Great video very informative. that rear seal looks good but something tells me the front ones gone bad.
The RC drifting footage was really cool
you only need a small drop of the red lock tight. putting to much fluids in thread can cause it crack.
as a real and rc car enthusiast who owns an mr2 and a ton of rc cars including a drift car, this vid s awesome. A lot of car enthusiats especially drift guys I know are into rc cars to wether it be drag, bashing, drift, touring or anything. I might have to pull my engine and clean it to...
YAY RC DORIFTO❤❤😂😂
when I swapped an auto vq35se into my manual G35, I had to take out a similar bushing to get the manual trans to fit. only way I got it out was by sticking a big open end wrench into the small gap between it and the crank, and prying.
Maaannn those RC builts were siiiick , now i wanna 😂 Great job once again bro! 🫡
You'll need some 240z badges for it when it's done.
Amazing upload mike loving the content! When will we be getting another junkyard video?
Thks Mike
dang the beginning got me no lie but that is a fire engine lol love the videos man time and effort in these

Call dad auto trans adapter. I usually just use a half inch extension and stick it in the hole and just wiggle up and down while pulling out and usually it walks that adapter out of the crank.
tou are one off my favorite youtubers you deserve everything
VQs use that auto pilot bushing too i found a pilot bearing remover with a slide hammer will get it out easy
Yes it will I answered the question, great vid🎉❤
You can use some bread and a socket or a punch. Hammer the bread in keeping repacking the bread. It'll come right out.
Keep up the good work.👍
incredible what an endless amount of adapters are available around the world to fit A->Z!!!
A bunch of boys playing with their small and big toys. Nice!
I had to weld a socket to the auto pilot bushing.
Love that u rc drift I'm really big into it ❤ I hope I can someday slid with u in rc
This man is the goat
Turbo KA Z32 sounds funny as shit to me, glad you went with something oddball though my dood 🫡
Always a good day when mike posts 👍🏻
So close to 100k!
Dope RC cars!🚗🚘
Liked before loaded always the vibes
Use a helicoil thread repair kit for the stripped holes so you can use the factory diameter bolt
Bro what a unique video! You don't see much rc drift videos! Also we're can I get one of those RC DRIFT CARS??
11:01 famous last words
Happy 90k mike
🙌
The throw out bearing just knocks off the carrier that's why it looks so different mate.
Pretty cool content just found your channel👍 where in Illinois are you guys?
100k let's goooooo!!🎉
Dayummmmm son quality video again
@10:31, i have had to do this to every fucking pilot puller tool i have rented from autozone. they rent me shit, i return a refined tool. lmfao. nice work on using the old ticker to figure it out, this is the secret sauce for nissan pilot bearings.
You need to remove the old throwout bearing from the assembly and press the new one on to it
This. Looked like it would probably go on. Maybe
I understand how it works, unfortunately the inner diameter was different
The new one was a ka24 throw out, which is different from a vg
the starter location is the same on subarus, there is just no other place to put it
and Rotarys I think
You could have packed grease into the pilot bearing and found something the same diameter of the hole and hammered it into the hole causing the grease to push the bushing out. Had to do this on my dads old gmc van. Always more then one way to skin a cat lol😂
I had the EXACT same situation with my VH45 swap, my auto pilot bushing was stuck like yours and I had to cut it out.....
Yo Mike, any Idea where Nate got his rain guards for the rsx ? I bought a couple pair and they didnt fit great so I threw them out.
You should make a wrecked 240 rc to drift that would be sick
In the works 😎🔥
Coming along ! 🤌🏻 you and your bro look so much alike are you twins ?! 😂
Finally some jzx-s on the channel.
Was this rc footage at filmed at Indiana state fairgrounds events center ?
So if the bolt is shorter and the hole deeper you think it will not hit?
Maybe massure the hole dept and the bolt to the collar, or put something on end of the bolt like a paste and see if it compressed since you extended the part higher.
Or mabye i'am just wrong.
I know mike myke on CZcams already did this swap years ago on his 300zx & still has it and still running.
Pretty sure his is an sr20
Idk anyone who ka24de swapped tho
almost at 100k let’s gooo
5 in the morning and im already watching
Part by parts the car is coming soon😃🔰
Dude I would so drive up one day from Ohio in my rsx to hang out and help you work on stuff!
It will fit, just believe
question for you mike, where did you get your rc drift car?
Ive actually wanted to do a built ka-t in a z32 for a long time
rc content going hard
Okay... I have to get a drift chassis pretty soon 😂
you can get a pilot bearing out with plain bread, punch and a hammer. I'm sure there are videos on youtube, but I've done it in the past
30 degrees? I salute you
