So.... i wasn't saved by a pamphlet. I wasn't saved by a flyer, or street art or charity. I was saved by the word. My mother BEGGED me to come to church with her. She did it again and again and she never got frustrated. She just kept inviting me. That sunday while i was listening to the word it was like the first time hearing it. The taste of gunmetal left my tongue and for the first time in years i cared about what came next. The word is good. Never be ashamed of it.

To those who have anxiety, like I do, it's about taking small steps. You don't have to jump into a debate with someone you know has a negative opinion of christianity, try bringing it up with a friend. Then branch out a bit. I definitely know how tough it is, but we can do it. 😊👍

    • @Z45HR4
      @Z45HR4 Před 2 lety +3

      Totally agree.
For me personally, I am not the most knowledgeable Christian. I never went to Sunday school, I don't know whole books of the Bible by heart nor do I have many key passages memorized.
So for me, when I hear a group of my friends saying that there is no God and Christianity is just a bunch of made up garbage, I have made it clear that I am a Christian and that I don't agree with them. But I do not feel like I am in a position to knowledgeably argue with them on these topics. So I don't engage with them on religious subjects.
Personally, I would hate to debate with someone about Christianity and then come across as some blind follower of Christ who knows nothing about what I believe. I think that reflects very poorly on all Christians. So I would rather not preach the gospel to people who are openly hostile to it if I do not have the knowledge to back it up.
Because that will not just steer that person away from Christ, but will also negatively impact others who may be listening and will likely negatively impact my faith if they start asking questions I cannot answer.
So for me, I'm still gathering knowledge and forming arguments/counter-arguments before I'm willing to engage with people who are openly hostile to the Gospel. (friends and family who are not opposed to the Gospel are a different story. I discuss God with them on the regular.)

@@Z45HR4 I understand what you are feeling! I am very much the same. One of the absolute best books I have ever read on evangelism is Tactics by Greg Koukl. It shows how to engage unbelievers even when you don't have much knowledge to start with. You don't have to have all the answers, and you don't have to start every conversation with the goal of a full-fledged gospel presentation or you won't even talk at all with them about Christianity. Koukl has been in apologetics for more than 3 decades and hosts a call-in radio show in California. You can imagine the challenges he takes on, but he is so good at lovingly showing others where their beliefs are incoherent or self-defeating or problematic in some way. He wants to give Christians the tools to get in the game of evangelism instead of sitting on the sidelines because we don't have all the answers. You really ought to look into it. He also has some great content on CZcams if you would rather check him out before considering buying a book. His material has been the most helpful for me and I have an M.Div from a great seminary and preach almost every Sunday. All those classes and experiences, and his little book has been the most important in my confidence in evangelism!

Some of the best news about the gospel is that I did not have to be beaten bloody and tortured and nailed to a Roman cross as I deserved to be. Jesus did that for me and offered His sacrifice as my way of salvation through faith in Him. What better food news is there than that. Now Jesus asks that I love Him so much that obedience is as natural as putting Him on, like the clothes I wear. What amazing love and grace.

This series has been such a blessing. I grew up in church, got saved as a teen, then fell away for awhile in college and as I went into the world. I screwed up my life so bad I turned back to Jesus. Praise Him for His grace and love. I feel myself growing, but I feel the anxiety of just wanting to do big things for God, almost to make up for the years I lived in sin. As I read Romans and listen to this series, I love how Mike breaks down how to serve God every day just by living and sharing the Gospel.

I agree with it being strange when other Christians don't want to offend with proclaiming the gospel (proclaiming it very graciously/lovingly as well I should add). When I started going door to door with Calvary Chapel Chino Hills evangelism ministry, I was MOST surprised by my Christians friends and family saying things like that is "annoying" to do that, or just "love on people" instead, or their silence about the topic was pretty interesting. The verse that comes to my mind to justify this is ROMANS 10:14 "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And HOW CAN THEY HEAR WITHOUT SOMEONE PREACHING TO THEM." (CAPs added for emphasis)
Pretty cool listening to your videos. My wife found you when she was googling about BETHEL because when she was on a mission trip at YWAM she heard some unusual stories that didn't seem consistent with what she knew of the Bible. And together we have planned to continue through your videos here on youtube. Thanks for taking the extra time, and going the extra mile.

CJ, i see what you're getting at but its not very wise for you to go about it in that way. Since we know Paul was clearly repentant, this is the posture that one takes after repenting and taking up their cross. Its simply living chainless from our past transgressions. If you are living with the constant reminder of your past transgressions prior to being saved, then you dont believe in Christ just yet.
( if you transgress after being saved, repentance is still necessary but after you have been convicted by the Holy Spirit and realize your error, its the same spirit that lifts you out of that state making you stronger and less prone to temptation.)

I now see that I shouldn't be ashamed when others are offended that I openly bring up controversial topics in a very casual manner. I noticed someone give me that look at Sunday School this last weekend, but now I don't feel weird bringing up what I said, because if they have a justified complaint, then when I speak boldly it should open them up to speak their mind, or else nothing is gained.

The preacher talks about 500 yrs of Reformation - 'faith alone.' A simple study of what these major reformers believed tells the complete story. Martin Luther, Jan Hus, and Henry VIII didn't want to change 1500 years of Christianity by making Communion just a symbol. I didn't realize this until I studied history for myself and read the words of these people for myself.
The union of land owners (in the case of Luther), the thirst for land, money, and power (in the case of Henry VIII's inner circle, wanting to take church land, mostly from monasteries...hint hint - they stole all of the church land on the island) --which these individual men put together were clearly ignorant of Biblical teaching; changed the form of Christianity to a state sponsored religion (Anglican) which had the monarch as head of Church and State, and in the case of Luther and Calvin, new doctrines that don't stand the test of the Bible.
Further, the Council of Trent was called to counter the growing movements across Europe. This is why historians call it the Counter-Reformation. Clearly all Trinitarian Christianity teaches faith in Christ alone gives the human being salvation. Putting an emphasis on the book of James instead of Romans encourages the believer (all of Europe except 'Turkey' was Christian at this point) to act out his faith, rather than live exactly how this preacher described his Grandfather -- 'we don't know what Grandpa believes' --- The Church was worried, and rightly so, that cheap counterfit Christianity would sell the masses short - which it does. Luther didn't want to create another sect, he wanted to restore the Church.
LOOK at the crazy 'Christian' world in America we live in today? 40,000 different denominations!! Is it a mystery people don't know Christ?
Talk is cheap - live out your faith...This is the #1 way I have witnessed to people close to me. Preaching on a college campus is great too because it plants seeds.

Dear Mike winger. For 2000 the Christian Church believed and taught what the Catholic Church teaches ESPECIALLY regarding the Blessed Eucharist. This teaching ONLY CHANGED after Martin Luther came along. This is not my opinion BUT REALITY. Read about the EARLY CHURCH FATHERS and what they wrote. Jesus himself in John 6 explains about this strange (for men) concept. We see the Jews running away and saying "This is a hard teaching, we will come another time". DID JESUS STOP THE TO EXPLAIN HE WAS TALKING FIGURATIVELY? ??????? Of course not. HE ACTUALLY TURNED TO THIS OWN 12 AND ASKED THE IF THEY WANT TO LEAVE ASWELL. Peter said then the famous line, NOT BECAUSE he understood him, but he believed. You keep bragging about Faith, yet find strange that CHRIST wished to become present in the BLESSED EUCHARIST. Just like children we must believe. HE WHO DOESNT EAT MY FLESH NOR DRINK MY BLOOD, HAS NO LIFE. Check out Dr Scott hahn, Tim staples, Steve Ray, Marcus Grodi and do not believe me. Matt 15:24... "I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel" this is Jesus' response to a woman of Canaan who wants her daughter healed. This passage has much more to offer than the order of the delivery of the gospel because Jesus offers it as the explanation for why he can not heal this woman's daughter (she is NOT from "Israel") and then He turns around and HEALS HER DAUGHTER. It is one of those verse where you have to decide if Jesus is either lying or defining terms differently than we do... This passage has more to do with God's definition of who is "Israel" because *_Jesus was ONLY sent to save the LOST SHEEP of Israel_* and then HE SAVED A WOMAN FROM CANAAN's DAUGHTER... so what is God's definition of Israel? From Exodus 12 onward it has always included a "mixed multitude" (Ex 12:38, 48-49)
see Micah 5:2 and Matt 2:6... Israel is God's people _governed_ by the Shepherd from Bethlehem. What did this woman from Canaan do before Jesus? She and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me... and she compared herself to a dog at her MASTER'S table.. and then Jesus healed her daughter. Her FAITH made her a "lost sheep from the house of Israel"
*OTHERWISE JESUS COULD NOT HAVE HEALED HER* because He said Himself... I am ONLY sent the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel.
This country (USA) is VERY screwed up about who is was and always will be "God's people governed the Shepherd from Bethlehem" ( it's God's people defined by their faith and obedience and servitude to the Lord of Jesus Christ.. not netanyahu not a plot of land under unbeliever's feet)

Romans was written to bring harmony between Jews, newly-returned from the exile of Claudius, and Gentiles. The idea that Gentiles could be accepted by God so easily (without works of the Jewish Law) was hard for the Jews to accept so much of the book is devoted to convincing the Jews that only faith was necessary to be initially accepted by God. Becoming a Jewish proselyte, in contrast, was difficult. Romans was NOT written, primarily, as a theological treatise. I think most if not all of Paul's writing was to address practical issues but he weaves theology in as the basis for what the practices he wants to promote. The church may have been founded by Jewish converts to Christ from Rome at Pentecost (see Acts 2).

According to the Bible faithful Catholics have been saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5B,8), but we are also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and we hope to be saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12).

You simply distort the facts; and you quote no sources because the primary sources say the opposite ~ To be justified means being made righteous, just, holy, and acceptable before God. Because we are born in original sin, we need to be made right with God and only He can effect this change, which was merited by the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross, but which we must accept (or in the case of an infant, their parents) by sincere repentance (Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 17:30; Romans 2:4; 1 Corinthians 7:9-10, etc.) and by baptism, by which sacrament we become children of God and heirs with Christ (John 1: 12; Romans 8:14-17).

This is the gift of divine sonship. Our soul is regenerated (made clean) from the effects of original sin (or mortal sin if any has been committed) and wiped clean. Thus, there is cooperation between God's grace and man's freedom that is expressed by the assent of faith (Catechism of the Catholic Church or CCC 1993). "With justification faith, hope and charity are poured into our hearts, and obedience to the divine will is granted" (CCC 1991). "In baptism you were not only buried with him, but also raised to life with him because you believed in the power of God who raised him from the dead" (Colossians 2:12; Romans 6:3-5,8).

The Bible has to be plumb line for deciding what church organization you will be part of: Acts 2:38 was what Peter preached in the presence of the rest of the apostles.
Most churches today do not preach repentance, & do not baptize in the name of Jesus Christ, and do not teach new believers to expect to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Yet the message is there in Acts, no matter whether you read the JW, Catholic, or Mormon, or King James or NIV version of the Bible.
Also helpful is to know that all the NT books after Acts were written to the church, already repented, baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit (born again). Study the book of Acts. If an organization is teaching something else, it's not Bible.
Salvation is God's plan, let's do it His way, it's the only way that matters.
God bless all those who are seeking truth.

I was wondering this too. I went to a church of God for a while and they convinced me that I was never truly saved because I received the wrong baptism. They had me brainwashed and so depressed thinking all of my experiences with God and being filled with the Holy Spirit were false when I knew without a shadow of a doubt that they were real and that I was saved and that God gave me the gift of confirmation on that when I used to be afraid because I wasn’t sure. They had me convinced that my grandfather and dad who were the influence on my coming to Christ, were indeed not saved and were in hell. They had me convinced that if I left the church I was walking away from GOD himself and would be lost and go to hell. They once told me that Gods Grace was going to run out on me. When I left they didn’t speak to me anymore and it took me a long time to even feel like I could go to God again.

If you read the whole of Hebrews and 9&10 in particular
You'll notice that the the writer is pointing to the ineffectiveness of the Covenant Moses to forgive sins.
In chapter 10 he says that the law of Moses didn't forgive anybody speaking of the Messiah God speaks of himself and says he came to do His will.
The sacrifices of Moses God didn't desire but a body he prepared for HIS own Son.
We're sanctified forgiven and Made Perfect Forever by the Sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Vs 10,14,18
      Vs.
      The confession of Faith.
We have confidence to enter Heaven by the blood of Jesus.
Live for God and Live for others bc God is Faithful be fully assured bc God Promised you Eternal Life.
The Promise calls back to Hebrews 6 where God interposed with an Oath where by two things we can take hold of the Hope of heaven number one it's impossible for God to lie number Two Gods promise can't be broken.
So by two unbreakable things our hope rests.
So till now we have All Positive Affirmation of Eternal Salvation.
Sanctified forgiven Perfect Forever Gods Promised Gods Faithful.
The Apostles (who happen to be working miracles in their face) are confident in their salvation by the Death of Jesus.
      Then
      Vs 26.
If we keep sinning willfully we have no sacrifice for our sins.
now you have to ask yourself in which Covenant is there no sacrifice for willful sin?
In the Old Testament if you broke one of the Ten Commandments you got killed.
in the New Covenant Jesus says in Matthew 5 if you break the least of these Commandments and teach other people to break them also but believe in me you'll be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven.
you still go to heaven even if you break the Commandments and teach other people to break them also but you're still at you're just called least.
But if you keep and teach them you'll be called great in heaven.
The sins He mentions immediately after that statement are murder and adultery.
David committed both of those sins it what did God tell him don't be afraid of death because I've taken away your sins.
Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Both the least in Heaven and the greatest in heaven are in heaven only because they believed in God and because God died on the cross for their sins.
      Acts 13:39
and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.
So in the New Covenant the willful sins are covered by the blood of Jesus that's why David a murderer and Adulterer can go to heaven because God died for David on the cross.
You'll find out in Hebrews 11 that all the Old Testament saints are justified by Faith.
so he's letting these Jews know if you go back to Judaism you will burn in hell.
Because it's Evidence that they're not Believers.
They're shrinking back after receiving the "Knowledge" of the truth.
Knowledge of the Truth is not Love of the Truth which is Faith in the Truth.
That's why in John Jesus says if you continue in my word you are truly Disciples of mine.
there is a measure of understanding that non-believers have about the gospel that doesn't mean they believe in the gospel.
If he shrinks back my soul will have no pleasure in him.
Without faith it is impossible to please God.
But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction.
those who shrink back don't have faith because they can't please God.
John 3: 18 those who do not believe have been judged already because they have not believed in the only name of the begotten son of God.
My righteous man will live by faith.
But of those who have faith to the preserving of the Soul.
If God says you live because of Faith than you live because of faith
Like when He said those who believe in me have eternal life.
there are wheat and there are tares in the church. God Allows them to grow together the writer of Hebrews is speaking to Jews who have heard the gospel but are considering going back to Judaism and he's trying to explain to them to have faith in Christ because if they go back to Judaism there's no sacrifice for their sins and they will burn in hell extra hot because they have rejected the blood of our only God and Savior Christ Jesus.
there are clearly two types of people there those who shrink back to destruction who clearly don't have faith because God takes no pleasure in them.
and they clearly have no faith because God says if you have faith you will live.
and there are those who have faith to preserving of the Soul.
Without faith it is impossible to please God by God saying he takes no pleasure in those who shrink back he's clearly telling the us that they don't have faith that's why they're destroyed because they don't have faith.
If we go on sinning willfully in the old Covenant of Judaism then all we can expect is to die because that's the consequence of all the Old Testament laws you sin you die.
but under the New Covenant Romans 8: 1 through to there is now therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus for the law of the spirit of Life In Christ has set us free from the law of sin and of death.
And we're in Christ by faith Ephesians 1: 13 in him after listen to the message of Truth The Gospel of your salvation having also believed you were sealed in him with the Holy Spirit of promise.
under the New Covenant if you send you still live because of the law of the spirit of Life In Christ has set you free from the law of you sinned you have to die.
So long story short the writer of Hebrews is comparing the Old Testament law where there is no sacrifice for willful sins the New Testament law where there is and he's also speaking to the non-believers in the church who don't have faith that's why they shrink back to destruction.
Because knowledge of the truth is not faith in the truth.
and of course you will have more judgment in hell if you hear the gospel but reject it.

Mind blown!🤯So that’s what the first century Christians mean when the law leads them to Christ. The law shows every man and woman that they fall short of Holiness and the ONLY way to obtain that Holiness is through the blood of Christ. Thus, by grace you are saved and not by works. This is severely fundamental yet not stressed enough I think in Christianity. I’ve been a Christian for 7 years and I didn’t quite understand it until now. God bless this man.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
For we are His workmanship, created IN Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
    ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:8, 10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
We are workers after we are created IN Christ. We must be saved first to be effective workers.
    As well as,
“And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
You can’t intermingle works and grace together.
Brilliant. I will look more into this. This insinuates a backwards system where we are essentially given salvation as a gift. Everything we do from that point is to showcase our gratitude for that gift.
If works and grace are intermingled, your whole walk with Christ becomes unavoidably self centered. You are doing x,y,z to obtain salvation and not doing those things because you are thankful that the Lord even considered you.
There’s a huge difference in heart when you do good things like helping out the sick and the poor so you can check off your list to obtain salvation versus doing those things because Jesus saved your life and those are the least of his brethren.
This saddens me because ALOT of people who left God altogether due to works based religion will most likely shut their hearts to this gospel. This seems like the REAL good news!

If you believed you were going to fall out of a tree, you would do the "work" to grab onto a branch. The works proves that the belief was real. I think it's the belief that saves us, the work is just a natural consequence that proves the faith was real. If you didn't grab the branch, then you didn't really believe you were going to fall even if you say you did.

Hab 2:4 quoted in Rom 1:17 is probably better translated "the just shall live by his faithfulness." Also, in the Greek NT, the word "faith" can also be translated as "faithfulness" (3 out of 100 places in the NT). Because of this I suggest that a possible (and I think better) translation of v 17 could be "...from faith to faithfulness, as it is written: the just shall live by his faithfulness." God receives people by faith alone, but brings them to a place of where that faith is acted out in faithfulness (otherwise we don't have saving faith; faith without works is dead). Abraham is the forerunner of this process. This translation/interpretation also expresses the "power" of the Gospel mentioned in v16 in making us faithful. Further, v18 gives us the negative contrast to faithfulness in showing us what lack of faith, leading to unfaithfulness, looks like. "Suppressing the truth in unrighteousness" is our willful unbelief in a righteous and just God because we want to behave righteously.

By seeking to hear, know and understand Jesus' words the Holy Spirit will teach you of all things; and we become spiritually converted from serving sin to serving that righteousness revealed in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
From faith, believe in Christ; to faith, hear, understand and follow Christ.

This all sounds great but i do have a red alert concern. I sort of understood that you cannot lose your salvation once you have been saved being given the Holy Spirit.
Biblically this in incorrect and i would definitely think of this as a core doctrinal belief of ours.
One can receive the Holy Spirit, get tied up in their own beliefs and forget the gospel that saved them in the first place and end up reclaiming the ticket to hell. The bible states about how even the chosen will be fooled in the last days. Also, through Paul, we are nonstop encouraged to continue growing in Spirit so that we dont become stagnat. Becoming stagnant is the start of losing your faith much like the servant who hid the talents in the sand instead of working them like the others.
Of course, I speak from my understanding of scripture and only seek constructive Debate.

Is total immersion baptism one of those areas that isn't as significant to be divisive over. Meaning is IT NECESSARY for the completion of salvation, or is "sprinkling" a true baptism as well? This being based on the translation of "baptize"?

    • @LHJlives
      @LHJlives Před 3 lety

Total immersion is the proper way the ordinance of baptism is to be conducted. It is symbolic of being laid down into the grave (death of the old life) and being brought forth out of it (born into a new life). Much like we will all die we shall also all be brought forth in a glorious resurrection, baptism is a way to help us understand this as well as to make sacred covenants.

I like listening to people like you, and Greg Koukl, and Tim Barnett and others, people that help you think logically and critically about the Faith. And for some of us like me who are autistic, analyzing and logical thinking is our vibe. It's technically how we worship when we get in a "groove," soaking up the "meat" like a sponge. A hungry sponge. You can't really soak up meat like a sponge; that's a terrible metaphor.
I once heard John MacArthur (who I also enjoy listening to, don't get me wrong!) say he never reads the Bible analytically, and while I understand what he meant-that he always reads it with devotion, and you certainly should!-it still rubbed me the wrong way a bit, because I think that there's the need for both, and if you aren't able to logically break down what it means, you're (a) probably going to miss something important and (b) not going to be able to express what you believe when "the chips are down", or worse, you're going to accept a misreading as truth and be led off into Cultland. Which is not The Happiest Place on Earth, and certainly not in the afterlife! (They don't even have a good mascot. The whole thing is kind of Mickey Mouse.)

You said God would be unjust if He sends people to Heaven without justifying them, but when you remove a persons actions that happen after justification as being relevant to being justification--you seem to be making it so a person does not have to ACTUALLY be just, but that doing righteous is just "evidence." Does a Christian require that evidence? Sounds a lot like lordship salvation, which is not a WHOLE lot different than justification thru works of the believer, since Jesus does say, "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"--Luke 6:46
Also, if the good works a Christian does are a result of the Holy Spirit working in them, what's wrong with saying that justifies if that too is from God? Neither faith or the works are from ourselves, but both are from God that we cooperate with. So what is the huge issue with saying the works done in God's favor further justify a Christian. Paul in Romans 11:6 was discussing predestination--that He will give some people grace to serve him, and this is God's own favor making the decision. God's grace will cause people to follow him and endure by keeping his commandments. Paul's point is we do good because of grace, not that we get grace by doing good.
Sounds like mere imputed righteousness, which is not righteousness at all. The good deeds a Christian does are God's own works that we are rewarded for, if we refuse to do these works, Christ in John 5 & Matthew 25, James 2, Romans 2, 1 John 3, the scriptures say we will go to the resurrection of condemnation, be declared goats, makes our faith dead, means we do not obey the gospel by seeking good, and are deceived.
Jesus teaches those that believe and do good get the resurrection of life, those that do evil works--the resurrection on condemnation:
do not be amazed at this, because the hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voices and will come out, those who have done good deeds to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked deeds to the resurrection of condemnation--John 5:28-29
St John says those that teach mere imputed righteousness are "deceivers":
Children, let no one deceive you. The person who acts in righteousness is righteous, just as he is righteous.--1 John 3:7
St Paul says all will be judged by works they do:
He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality.--Romans 2:6-11

The Law teaches us what transgression is and points out our need for salvation. Ray Comfort does it right. When I was younger I did not really care for Ray comforts methods...(I respected him but thought his method would turn people off) Then, through first hand experience and reading the Word of God I found that his way was Jesus's way and the best way.

He included all kinds of hard information - references to the Scripture, Catholic writings (Catholic Councils, other writings of church ‘fathers’, etc…), historical notes about various people/times, etc…
Some arguments are more historical, and others are more logical. One small example: the RCC’s stance is that Peter was acknowledged by Jesus as the leader in Matt 16. Why then are the disciples confused and asking Jesus in Matt 18 who is the greatest? A simple question on its surface, but its basis really challenges the assertion/interpretation given in 16.

    This was excellent. Two complaints:
    1) Technically, Romans 1:16-17 doesn't say what the gospel message is, only its purpose and effect (and why Paul cannot be dissuaded from preaching it). The gospel is the news that Christ died for our sins and that God raised him from the dead per 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
    2) "hell" is a fake translation and a bogus place name. The scriptures say that because of Adam's sin "death" passed on to all men, not torment.

What is the "gospel" of Christ Jesus? "Gospel" means "good news." Christ Jesus HIMSELF tells you in the BIBLE 'what' that gospel is! Christ said: "I must also declare the good news of 'the Kingdom of GOD'. . .because for THIS I was sent." [LUKE 4:43] This is the gospel, the good news of Christ . Christ preaching about the KINGDOM OF GOD! This was Christ's PRIMARY reason for coming to the earth!
"Shortly afterward he traveled from city to city and from village to village, preaching and declaring the good news of the KINGDOM OF GOD. And the
