I haven’t seen many transmissions last over 300,000 on other vehicle brands. This is a true testament to the quality of engineering and workman of Toyota/Aisin. I can only hope that legacy will carry through in their more modern cars.
Prius Transmissions do.. But they have nothing in common with a standard Hydro trans. The Allison 1000 and 2000 Transmissions can run over 600K if properly maintained. They were built like TANKS, and a lot of care was taken to have smooth and crisp shifts under high load.. They are what is behind the Duramax Diesels that can push 800+ lbft of torque,
True. My 2004 sienna has 350,000 miles and is on the original trans. It slips a lil but still runs good enough. Maybe ill be able to squeeze another 50K out of it if im lucky or potentially more.
You know when a car is really loved by it's owner when he's willing to spend MORE money than the car is worth. MOST people would have totaled this car out with those kinds of repairs. But i love how this car will live on for many more years to come in the honest care of the Car Care Nut's life.
I can say my good mate here in Sydney Australia just had a new 300 Sahara VX top of the range $153k twin Turbo V6 diesel. I sent him a video by Jon Cadogan here on CZcams about these new V6 diesels absolutely chewing oil hard . His car had 8000 kays on it and when he checked the oil it was on low already. He immediately put it for sale as he wanted to get rid of it while the waiting lines were still there for them at Toyota and also before this oil issue really became public news. A guy bought it within a week and he got 2k less than what he paid so great result. New car is a brand new X5 with the B57D and he loves it. Toyota need to sort this out asap..
I’d love to see this too. I sure wish we could get the entire line of Land Cruisers here in the states. Those look rugged and indestructible. An LC pickup truck with a manual, left hand drive, awesome
Love watching this insane man rebuild this epic lexus. I don't own an LS and have only ever ridden in one once in my life. But his attitude and attention to detail makes me keep coming back. If I had the ability I would drop my 250K mile Fzj80 off with him with nothing more than the instruction to make it right and I know I'd be satisfied. Such a fun and interesting build series 600k and it will be new again
I love your CZcams channel. I am updating my LS 430 after watching your videos. I was feeling very confident until I saw this video. Now I’m worried if I made the right decision. I took it to the dealer and that was a shock so soon as I get it back, I’ll probably be seeing you, thank you for your great videos
One of the things I learned from my "k-car junkyard days' was "If the body is good, don't touch the drivetrain. If the body is bad, odds are the drivetrain is fine." No one scraps a perfectly good running car in good shape. That begin said, replacing mechanical parts on a good body is better than replacing body parts on a good mechanical body.

What a great video to see the 600,000 mile transmission tear down !! So glad the Chicago auto pros teamed up with you 🤩that will be another awesome video ‼️
I look forward to the complete fix up. It has been my understanding that Toyota / Lexus can easily drive to 500,000 miles with regular maintenance. It would need intermediate scale components changes at each 100,000 miles interval for timing belt / coolant pump, spark plugs, transmission fluid, brake fluid, PS fluid and coolant. @@StubProductions Not too difficult. You have to cut and weld the shifter to a different angle so it comes thru where the ash tray/lighter pocket is next to the trans shifter and cut a hole in the tunnel for it. This is an awesome video AMD.... It's great to see what a Lexus running gear disassembly looks like. I'd love to see more of this type of stuff. Especially on LS's.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for all you do. Based on your advice, I'm upgrading my wife's car from her 325k+ mile worn out Matrix, to a first gen Venza, AWD and V6. After 36 years of putting up with me keeping her car out of the scrap yard, I figure she deserves something more comfortable.
I have made the financial commitment to rescuing high mileage cars, like Car Care Nut's Lexus. IMO, I would have torn down the removed transmission and evaluate if it could be rebuilt, at a reasonable price. Especially since a teardown of said trans is planned. I junked my 2002 LS430 after upcoming repairs and preventative maintenance was more than the value of the car. It was a whack-a-mole of fixing something just for something else expensive to require attention. It didn't even make it to 320,000 km or 16 years. Meanwhile, my 2002 ES300 continues to provide the trouble-free ownership experience I never experienced with the LS430.
Yes!! tear down of the 600k Transmission would be great to see bands and solenoids inside for wear and if clogging(what old trans oil does to solenoid/valves when not changed on schedule) 😁🤓 yes im a nerd for this stuff!!!
More great coverage of the job and a pleasure to watch. I can't help thinking the transmission and drive shaft were intended to last the life of the car and to change it at 600,000miles is one of many uneconomical jobs. In the UK, few cars pass 200,000miles and those that do are most likely taxis. Larger cars tend to do less mileage than small ones, due to the running costs.
The somber music with the last drive on the old transmission just cracked me up. Thanks for keeping the sense of humor. That’s why we watch you, AMD. All your hard work is much appreciated 😊
I hope that we can support your continuing project by supplying you the only drive shaft unit available. We the viewers wish you all the best. I really want to see this car completed to your satisfaction. So far it’s been educational and entertaining. 👍🇨🇦👨🦳

That's the beaty of AMD. I get to see what proper Toy/Lexus approach to work is supposed to be. I can muddle my way through all of the tasks he does but he covers all the bases in such great detail.
Impatiently waiting for the upper and lower oil pan video - I have 98' LS400 and will drop off upper and lower oil pan as well, need to install new oil pump which is not possible without removing upper oil pan. I´m addicted to this channel!

It would need (costly) major service / maintenance after 500,000 miles.
So most owners can aim at 500K miles target. But other components may deteriorate faster such as paint and interior.
A yearly wax/buff would allow the paint to last for years, to include a yearly interior detail

Oh, and I wish you luck!
Oh wow! I will be waiting got the continuation of the 600k mile transmission story. Good luck 🤓
No two cars live the exact same life
You’re just not an LS kind of guy. You’re literally a Camry guy. Lol
Yes!! tear down of the 600k Transmission would be great to see bands and solenoids inside for wear and if clogging(what old trans oil does to solenoid/valves when not changed on schedule) 😁🤓 yes im a nerd for this stuff!!!
Why do you think it's a 600k transmission since he mentioned several times it had been removed? It had been replaced or rebuilt at least once.
A project car cannot be totaled.❤
Not once, but twice 🤣
Yes would love to see a tear down of the auto it would be very interesting 👌👌👌
so cool to see a pro put so much effort into an awesome car. Thanks!
Lovin watching this series. Would love to see a teardown. But also fully understand you have a shop to run as well if you can't get to it
I love the teasers for the next episode. If this auto mechanic thing doesn't work out, you have a future in film editing.
So calm and collected, such a clean shop, such master technichian profesionalism. AMD is such an incredible person
Definitely would like to see what transmission looks like inside!
I DO hope you'll hit a MILLION subscriber soon because your channel deserves it!
And after you're done with his LS430, i hope you'll do a 2013 onwards GS350 article :P
I will definitely can sleep better if my mechanics were 50% as detail as you.
Thank you for your videos.
AMD, "There's No Going Back Now!" sounds like a good title for a horror movie. Is this LS becoming horror movie?😉😂🤣
I've always wondered, what does "AMD" stand for? Everyone uses this and I assume it's his initials or shop name? 😆
@@shojus It is his nickname, his first name is Ahmed.
@@rightlanehog3151 Thank you! Now I don't feel so stupid... Lol
Loved the intro! Kudos to your editing team. Another great video on a beautiful 600k Lexus.
Please do a teardown. And thank you for these fantastic videos!
Please show us the transmission and let us know how to take care of them.
It's amazing the effort and patience that you put in all your Works. Wish you the best. I am watching you from Canada. Best regards my friend....

Fascinating, really enjoyed watching that.

Your movie production values are really great! Fun to watch. Congratulations!
Short video, yes, but one of your best produced to date. Congrats to you and the team!
