    Thanks so much for the great video. My Getz aerial mount had become detached and my dealership told me they'd need to take out the ceiling lining altogether and claimed this would cost them over $500 "to investigate". Your video allowed me to just pull the lining down a bit and reattach the nut to the bolt - costing me nothing. You're awesome - thank you so much!

    I must do that Did not think head lining could drop down, thought it would be a glue job. My radio is lousy on AM reception, don't know if it is high resistance in aerial because of corrosion on threads, I cannot move it up or down also, pity they are not made of brass. greasing threads all round would be a good idea, even working it into the tilt pivot and periodically checking it for lubrication.

    So i followed your video instruction for a 2007 Kia Picanto, almost exactly the same, but after I Installed it and put all visors back I am having a few Issues with electrics. Is it possible I blew some fuses during the installation because i did not disconnect the battery before hand ?

    • @DjClarky78
      @DjClarky78  Před 6 lety +1

      John Michael Murphy - sounds like it, although i don't think the aerial cable has anything to do with the car electrics. Did you remove anything else? I'd check the fuses. You know where the fuse box is?

    • @JohnMichaelMurphy13
      @JohnMichaelMurphy13 Před 6 lety

      Yes It was a fuse but not the audio fuse. the 10 Amp just above it blew (R/LP) ? Not sure what is for !!.But it caused issues with internal lights, electric windows, central locking, rear fogs, fuel tank indicator, reset the clock every time I started the car and possibly more that I have not found.
      All good now swapped out fuse and all working. So the moral of the story is disconnect battery first

    Thank you...great instructions :) I want to remove the antenna and the base mount permanently from my van as it's preventing me getting into garage. Do you have any suggestions on how to cover the holes on roof from base mount removal with something flat so there are no leaks?

    • @DjClarky78
      @DjClarky78  Před 4 lety

      Hi Kate,
      That's an interesting question...
      So, with the antenna removed (just base mount left) it is still too high to get into the garage?
      You could try a grommet siliconed in place.
      There are also things called "liquid tight plugs".
      The only other thing I can suggest, is to get some thin(ish) black or white plastic - maybe 1mm thick. Cut a rectangle of it, then silicone it in place over the holes.
      1) Cut the rectangle of plastic a bit bigger then the hole/s you need to blank.
      2) Clean and dry the paintwork and the blank
      3) Sit the blank over the holes, and centralise it.
      4) Masking tape the paintwork around the blank, so you don't get silicone everywhere.
      5) Remove the blank, then"butter" both parts (paint and blank). You butter both parts, to ensure maximum adhesion.
      6) Push the blank down firmly on the paintwork, wipe off excess silicone, and put a weight on top of the blank to hold it in place while it dries - I'd certainly leave it somewhere dry overnight.
      Plastic, I'd maybe look in a hardware store for something you can cut up. Plumbing section maybe?
      Silicone, You can get roof and gutter silicone, that is designed to be used externally and exposed to weather.
      Let me know how you get on.

      Jovaski Wolf Kovac - Yes. They just unscrew. Have a look on ebay. Be careful though - they can get stuck on (hence this vid)

    Make sure the new roof fitting earths to the underside of the roof and use a resistance meter to check the radio end with one lead and the other to body earth near the radio cradle, also check resistance between antenna and centre prong which enters radio to ensure no breaks in inside wire. Good article on this on google, tyhats where I got this info. they said these problems make for bad AM more than FM.

      DjClarky78 And now for the sad news, did everything as shown, even tried to scratch paint away from the underside of the antenna hole in the roof to give contact to the aerial outer sheath before bolting it up, then actually got a reading showing connectivity between outer sheath and roof "iron". refitted radio, No difference, only thing I can now do is alter angle of Antenna, smeared some protective grease [food grade, high temp] around the outside of antenna and inside roof area to ensure no corrosion of tilt mech also on thread for antenna stork. Radio may/may not be a problem, probably not.

      DjClarky78 Car was 3 years old when we got it, AM always sounded like you were up in the country slightly out of range, 621 and 774 were reasonable but the higher number AM stations were the worst, would like to try a radio in another GETZ and see how it sounds. FM is a lot clearer..

      At 3.27 roughly you mention the metal bit hits the roof and the nut goes to the left side. Would be the same on a Nissan Juke 2017 as I can loosen the nut what hits the roof which leaves the antenna base loose but can’t get it to come out off the roof. Any ideas much appreciated
