For anyone wondering, this is entirely for aesthetic looks. You might have some more interference and a bit of signal drop with for FM radio, the 3M adhesive that comes with these kits is typically strong enough to withstand an automatic carwash and to remove it if it starts to come off, you'll need a heat gun, hope this helps anyone
Now is it a massive drop to where you absolutely can’t use it or is it spotty cause I just use my Bluetooth in my dart and was thinking about buying this.

I would suggest putting a bead of silicon around the base too, as water gets in there, and can rot the metal roof, and the electronic part of the antenna under that fin, and then you will have major issue's with rust in a couple of Years,

That doesn’t make sense as the original aerial let water in too what difference does it make
Silicon on the metal will cause the rust faster than any other thing, even water. Avoid silicon on ur car. If u see the windshield has a special glue that doesn't contain silicone.

You forgot to tighten down the screw with a Philip to make a good contact so it doesn’t come loose.
It's bound to shake out of position with vibrations over time...

Panda Nesthesia ok but once it’s glued it’s not coming off to tighten and if being used as a antenna it’s going to get bad reception if any.
ATTENTION HATERS: Obviously he installed this backwards BUT if he would have installed it the other direction, it would look effed up because it would be hanging over his windshield. Therefore, there is a method to his madness. So to speak.
My 2016 Subaru Legacy comes with a sharkfin antenna cover. It is currently leaking.
what do you mean leaking?
Looks like the glue seal wears out and allows water to seep into the antenna. The antenna has a rubber gasket that can also fail and allow water into the roof. I had water stains on my headliner.

No it didn't come off in the car wash the 3M adhesive base is very strong. You would need to heat it to remove it.
Mine came loose because of the automatic carwash.

so what if i dont have the piece you screw the bolt into anymore. where does the wire connect to the inside of that? im not replacing EVERYTHING on the antennae when i have the base but not the stupid rubber mess there.look at 1:57. i dont have that part but everything underneath.

I'm having the same problem too. Purchased an antenna from Amazon that says it fits my Grand Prix but when I went to install it found out it had more of a snap in and no screw in. Think I'm missing a base piece/adapter.

Mine didn't, I found the reception was not as strong as with the normal antenna, also much more interference.

I just went to replace mine in a 2019 Suburban Premier well I have a coax or fiber running up to my so after tearing my headliner pretty much all the way out it has a way more aggressive contour that most and broke the cardboard so took everything apart to the back door handles to get in there to f with the thing I bought the replacement that didn’t have the coax so put some sealing strips under it and now it’s 3/16” the roof f GM I am going to Silicone the f out of it then drive it till I can go buy a Toyota!!!!!! American 🇺🇸 made shit can kiss my - a s s. 90,000.00 for a product and it has 5 major problems well not this sucker again!!!!! Shitty times to be alive!!!! So Sad to see the shape of this Country!!!!

No screwdgie, fingertight assembly= shit reception, he connected the cable before peeling the 3m backing which means he had to redo it or go get scissors and cut the shit, then he didn't even attempt to conceal or pack the cable into the housing......
But most of all, the damn thing is on backwards!! Dude has straight up defeated the purpose of design.
Just as well wire a fucking brick to the roof.
I don't care about replacing no damn antenna i just come here for the music
