In this video, Tim has dusted off a number of his toys that come from Russia. There are rattlebacks, wooden craft toys, matryoshka dolls and some intriguing inflatable toys. - Věda a technologie

@@ricardokessler interesting question, realy
A former neighbor of mine who was 5 Years old living in Berlin in 1945 after WW2, told me that a Russian soldier carved a toy with five picking chickens and gave it to her. Now (30 Years after I heard it), I see such a toy for real. Just as I imagined it. Beautiful, thank You!
Wow
That's cool
Of course he “gave” it to her. Stupid Commie... always sharing things...
@@charliedavidson4925 sharing is caring lol of course that's not the capitalist way .... He should of taken her food from her mouth haha
The windup toy is supposed to represent a very common movement in Russian folk dance, when women walk in small fast steady steps, while their feet are invisible under the skirt, so that they appear to be sliding or floating on the floor. Also you should get the wooden reciprocating toy with a bear and a man working hammers or sawing, i think those are the most iconic of this type.

The little mechanical wooden toy with the bird and the wolf appears to be a depiction of the old Aesop fable of the wolf and the crane. The wolf was choking on a bone and promised that anyone who could pull the bone out of his throat would get a great reward. The crane volunteered to do it. So he stuck his head into the wolf's mouth, stuck his beak down the wolf's throat and pulled out the bone. Afterwards when he wanted his reward the wolf just said," You've had your head in my mouth and I didn't snap it off! That should be enough of a reward for you!" Then the wolf left and the hapless crane realized that 1) Assholes often make promises they don't intend on keeping just to get what they want (Just look at the world of politics!) and 2) Even if you should save their life don't expect any rewards from assholes!!

Recently stumbled across this channel. Has the new standing record as the fastest I've clicked subscribe. I've got a fussy 4 week old baby. Tim's videos are wonderfully age appropriate and stimulating for both of us 😊 they truly work a special magic with her. I have a hunch this is the start of a new mother daughter tradition- watching his content together for as long as he continues creating it.

In Soviet Russia, fidget spinners spins only in one direction..
Baby, you light up my world like nobody else....
LOL
wait...what? is that some dirty JOKE'
No. It's a reference to One Direction, a popular boy band. Think "The Beatles", but modernized. Also, the fidget spinner comment was about the Russian 'rattlebacks' that Tim is showing here. Because of the weight distribution, they only like to spin one way.
The right direction.
gaamatsu4dewin "the beatles but modernized" *becomes so triggered that even the extremists are telling me that im overreacting*
As a russian, seeing all those old toys is very nostalgic for me. I'm young and only remember them from the kindergarten @w@

This is so strange. I have never seen such toys in our country. It seems to be, that they are too far in history already, or they are can be created just for tourists.
11:01 "absolutely prjujrs"
Prodigious!
A penny saved is half the battle.
That is not Santa Claus. He is called Grandfather Frost. Interesting to see some of these toys :) I have had some of these as a kid :)
SAMSONIKS, Grandfather Frost does not wear red coat. Only BLUE.
minus1 That is very strange... Considering every new year during my childhood by the the tree I would have seen him wear red and also all the Russian cartoons I watched also had him wearing red, never mind the folk stories and fairytales my parents told me. But I'm sure you are more right... Because when you Google: Grandfather Frost, you see him wearing his alternative blue robe in the first few images.
SAMSONIKS, well look this famous Russian tale "Morozko". youtu. be/QTE1ognhT1o?t=50m22s (the time code is right where Morozko shows, who is no doubt Grandfather Frost himself) this film is from year 1964.
Or famous tale "12 month". Here youtu. be/xIydib54W3A?t=27m25s (the time code once again shows character who represents one of the winter month)
Those red coated are fake. The real one was in blue coat.
Not in communism... Better red than dead :P
No. That's general winter
From Russia with toys....
Tim is the Martyn Poliakoff of toys
I had a beautiful wooden pecking hen toy when I was younger given to me by my uncle as a souvenir from Russia, it was my favorite thing to play with every day, so simple yet soo satisfying!
Thank you Tim for bringing me back to my childhood 🥰❣
Your collection greatly exceeds mine. Great stuff. I've been collecting antiques for a few years now but I hardly see toys anymore.
Nothing like a old man showing how he plays with his toys.
American toys in the 80s-90s: IT CONTAINS THE WHOLE COLOR WHEEL AND TAKES 27 DOUBLE A BATTERIES! IT CAN CLEAN YOUR HOUSE, WALK THE DOG, COOK, CLEAN, SWEEP THE FLOORS-

Ещё матрёшка и железная баба
This reminds me of a toy store in Portland OR I visited a lot as a kid. Lots of fanciful and complicated wooden toys, vivid tin toys, toy trains.. they had these big airplane models and flying animal toys hanging from the cieling and the walls from floor to ceiling were covered in toys from around the world.
It was especially lively around Christmas when they'd string up those old big glass lights (I think they're called c series bulbs?) round the brick building and all the children would come to play in the warm store during the cold day. If you're from Portland you might have similar fond childhood memories of the tree lighting in pioneer square and the Christmas decorations throughout the city :)
The toy store closed a while ago. I wish I could go back so badly though, it was a lovely little place.
ok those weird spinning toys you showed are REALLY neat. Especially the one that's completely smooth, because it totally befuddles me to how it even works.
Ded Morose (Granfather Cold), it's russian Santa Claus

Why is there Nile comments on all tims videos? Can someone fill me in?
In one of the videos, called “Vases and Pneumatic Toys,” Tim had a jug of water that seemed to never run out if you said “Water from the Nile” or “Nile water” whenever you tried to pour some out of it. Tim shows the trick many times throughout the video between the puzzles.
Isn't it Дед Мороз instead of Santa Claus?
Piotr Bomba, nah, everyone knows, that Grandfather Frost wears blue coat. This one is DEFINITELY a Santa Claus.
minus1 не только голубую
minus1, sometimes he is depicted wearing a red or white coat too, modern image of Ded Moroz adopts a lot from Santa Claus actually
He had an huge beard and long coat, so he's definitely Ded Moroz
