    I've been hiking in Odlo baselayers for years and have some of their trail running stuff too. Very impressed so far.
    Everything feels well put together.
    I also have a Haglofs Lim Crown jacket which is super breathable but so thin it's doesn't feel durable. Only about 7 denier but the breathability is insane for 20K hydrostatic head of waterproofness. I think it's something like 50k+ MTVR.

    One of my favourite pieces of running kit is my long sleeve merino base layer that I picked up at Aldi for about £20. Sleeves a little short on me, but nothing gloves can’t fix 😊 A really useful piece of advice my running coach gave me, is to add 10 degrees C to the weather forecast temperatures to account for body temperature increase whilst running. This really helps me decide what kit to wear. As someone with Raynauds it’s really important for me to keep my arms and hands warm, but that can mean getting too hot with more than one long sleeved layer on. Arm warmers and gilet combo sounds like it could really work for me.

    A good running gilet is definitely missing from my kit. I have a club coloured cycling one but it's a bit 'snug' for running 😁 Funnily enough, I was at a specialist motorbike shop yesterday buying a textile jacket with a membrane. They asked me if I'd heard of layering and wicking and I said ' yeah, somewhat heard of it' 🤣

    Wow, those Artilect nuyarn baselayers actually seem to be a reasonable price compared to alternatives. I'm currently using the Black Diamond Solution (also nuyarn) baselayers, and it's about the same price while not being running specific. And some of the lighter variants from Artilect are definitely cheaper.

      @Run4Adventure  Před 2 měsíci

      A lot of running waterproof don’t have put zips, it’s quite rare to see them on a running jacket. Zips can add weight to a jacket and pit zips can get in the way if you are running with a pack 👍

    I agree that you get what you pay for and have lots of Ronhill stuff but dont dismiss less expensive options - i have base layers and a merino top from Aldi they were a fraction of the price of other shops when i bought them 4+ years ago. There is a 'winter running layering guide' on google images which is usually right ..

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  Před 2 lety

      You can get some cheaper options that work really well, you just have to shop around to find them. I'd definitely never dismiss less expensive options Alison and I also wouldn't say Ronhill is an expensive brand? To be honest I've still never worn a waterproof jacket that was breathable. If air can get in and out then so can water. I currently use the Ronhill tech fortify jacket which is great but still kinda boil in the bag unless youre really taking it very easy.

      @hypothalapotamus5293 Před 4 měsíci

      If I want to feel less bad when my breathable (totally not windproof) $50 running jacket soaks through, I wear a polyester fishnet baselayer underneath it. It's about minimizing skin contact area with wet stuff and maximizing air gap separation.
