Discord should be a cd ability. Rework idea. Have it be the same application, it stays on them for 4-5 seconds, regardless of LOS. Then have it go on cd for like 6-8 seconds. Then it has counter play. If he applies it you start of fight, you wait it out, then full commit into a fight. This change might allow it to keep it's dmg increase number, if not you can lower it.
That would put characters like JQ, Orisa, etc without shields at an even bigger disadvantage than now. Discord having a separate effect (maybe like 10-20% less damage from a target, idk just spit-balling an idea that could potentially be decent but not oppressive, could be wrong) would be the easiest solution for all parties involved, but most would probably say give Zen a bigger rework to give him a healthier place in the 5v5 format.
Zens discord is so powerful because zen is so squishy
Zen’s discord is what makes him playable. If you can’t handle the discord- just kill zen. Any dive character can do this easily. Even a reaper can two tap him.
Zen’s pretty balanced imo because he’s only a problem when a good player plays him.

@ronnyburks2310 Zen's discord is also what makes him such a huge problem. Replacing the ability can still keep him decent but not a massive issue. I wouldn't even call Zen super squishy, he just lacks mobility. He has insane DPS, which itself would be fine, but he provides a way for an entire team to delete even the tankiest of enemy tanks in an instant, which is unhealthy. It's like a one-shot combo for against the tank.
Without supports every single game of overwatch would be a tank 1v1 where everyone else does the sitting emotes together watching

I main tank and support and I don't get it. Sure Zen is irritating to play against when you are tank but not everything is going to be sunshine and rainbows in a competitive game.

Any player with a decent working brain knows that, especially with Zen making it the only character who can make tanks get deleted faster while also being one of the easiest supports to kill with no movement ability at all and having a wide target area for a decent trade off. You took it too seriously, it was a joke man.💀

They're forcing flats to undersell these busted supports because they don't play tank as much as he does
overwatch players when a support is allowed to do other things (they think they should only be heal bots and tanks and dps should have all the fun)

You realize his primary does 48 (62.4 with discord) damage, he has a kick that boops with 45 (58.5) damage. Right? His headshots are slightly more deadly than kirikos.
Any half compotent zen player is a legitimate threat to even tank heros.

i love the fact that seagull confront flat about his hate on support he doesnt complain about junker queen giga buff that is so much broken compare to brig last buff but he complain a lot on brig tho
maybe it stays permanently but can only amplify a certain amount of damage, then it breaks. then goes on like an 8 second cooldown

I play zen from time to time and everytime I play him qns come into contact with the end team, I feel like a nuclear bomb.
Zen discord on the tank is nuts, but otherwise it’s fine. I really hope the devs don’t nerf it to hell cos streamers are asking for it, it really doesn’t represent the majority’s feelings towards it.
If people turn all OverWatch supports into just heal bots because they're complaining about them doing other things besides healing too much. I'm just not going to play support anymore.

@@theresnothinghereatall the problem isn’t making them not healbots. The issue is abilities like fucking suzu that can counter many ults by simply throwing it at the ground. Too many times have I shattered almost the whole team but Kiriko just suzus her entire team

@@nottheone7269 It doesn’t matter bro why tf should an ability on a 12 second cooldown counter a whole ass ult that takes 2 minutes or so to charge up? Not just that but there’s already enough to worry about. I have to think about their tank that can also cancel my ult. There’s such a small window of opportunity between an orisa jav and kiriko cleanse. Like 6 seconds or so? And that’s IF they use it at the same time
Wait what if discord stayed the same with the damage weakness, but it became a channeled ability instead
Because these tank pros are the vocal minority they probably will ruin Zen soon... but when they do I've had this random idea to buff his survivability. They could make it so he gets a super jump when he kicks the ground at the same time as jumping. It would be so fun making dumb plays with that and he could get away from dive characters a lot easier. Oh and think of the goomba stomps he could do 😂

I think supports are in a good spot rn, no need for big overhauls.
I like that supports really have game changing abilities, they now have carry potential
They kinda always did but moira and zen are absolutely better DPSs than some of the other DPS characters which is stupid.

Change Discord so it's 25% more damage from Zen, but since it's his only survivabily tool, you can't get rid of it without killing Zen.
For the people saying "Kick lmao that's how u survive" listen. There are these things called Guns/Bows/Shurikens/Beams that have a little bit more range than the melee, so if you're unlucky enough to encounter one of the rare heroes that have one of the above weapons you will die, I know it's a niche BUT.

Just have discord only do 10-15% on tank and 15-20% on non tank characters and that would help a hell of a lot

Respect that you dislike supports but also supports are people who also want to feel effective in the game.

My opinion for flats has gone down 25% seeing the placement of orisa, Arguably the best or at the literal second best tank in the game.
Hero rank opinion validity based on players main role:
Support ranks: Tank player opinions matter most as Support heroes directly affects Tank heroes and their performance capabilities in-game
DPS ranks: Support players matter more, but the other two roles can have as good of an output. Support players rely mostly on their DPS to keep them alive during the game, and in return buff said players to reward that.
Tanks: DPS. If a tank can easily disable DPS heroes, it's game over.
It's basically a game of Rock Paper Scissors.
Tank and dps mains when supports are litteraly anything other than healing bots: 😡🤬

Every support has at least one overpowered ability, that's the only thing that makes them any good, discord, anti-nade, suzu, lamp, rez, speed boost and the ones who don't are basically unplayable
People forget that zen has no movement either and low healing, the entire meta at the moment is snipers and they obliterate zen

Honestly seeing your dva gameplay was sad. Makes sense why solo tanks have gone up. Being able to reach your rank in 3 months was easy.
Zen needs the discord for the fact that he dies if gets dived almost every time and if ur relying on a brig to make him be able to survive then it's not the character anymore also ur complaining that he has to get saved by his supp in a team based game

Ana should have never been added. The dev team is obsessed with making problems so they can make another hero as a solution. However, ana went THE ENTIRE LIFE OF OW1 without cleanse. Now in ow2 they introduce it and OH SO STRANGE it's basically mandatory
True. Anti and sleep are the 2 most annoying abilities to have to deal with. Anti is worse in my opinion since sleep does take skill (for the most part)
And also cleanse, the solution to anti counters everything

Dude literally, at this point it's just a skill issue. If you don't prioritize allowing your team to take Zen out you're just not playing right. He is the biggest menace and takes the least amount of effort to kill out of *all* heroes. This is dumb, Discord is fine. When you're getting pocketed by Mercy boost no one's complaining, but when the playing field is evened suddenly it's unfair.

This is by all definition a bronze take cause unless a zens incredibly out of position your not touching him while he’s in the back with less fallout than a widow like zens are eighty feet behind the enemy backline so far back they might as well be in spawn unless I dive the zen I can’t do jack it’s a dps job that only effects tanks and if you do dive the zen then either die halfway or die after killing the zen which leaves your team without a tank and not having a third dps is bad but not having a tank is a bit worse and according to this sojourn wasn’t op it was a skill issue if your team wasn’t targeting her it was your fault same with hog ball orisa and literally any strong character might as well have said ramattra didn’t need a nerf your team just needed to shoot him
I do agree it’s a bit hypocritical to complain about discord and then ask for a mercy pocket but mercy’s not as bad as zen most the time since mercys dmg boost and zens work differently zen can use his whole kit while making a tanks day hell where as a mercy has to give up healing their team though mercy and zen are both annoying
Also I take it your a dps see dps can dive the backline where as tanks have to be creating space if a tank just sat their diving a zen it’s be called throwing where as when I do this as tracer it’s not throwing it’s funny as hell

with the diversity of heroes, there is like, an almost null chance that any given team *won't* have a counter to Zen.
Zen is fine, the discord orb is one of the most overhyped abilities currently.
Don't fucking dive zen if you're a tank, simple
All tanks, I'm almost sure, have a way to mitigate discord for long enough to create a breach for a dps to take zen tf out. A tank shouldn't be farming kills or backlining (except maybe Ball I suppose), if you have a troublesome character bugging you you make opportunities for your team to wipe 'em out, something most characters can do to Zen with ease

Look... It's actually a simple fix. The only change is that instead of the discorded target TAKING 25% MORE DAMAGE. Make it so THEY DEAL 25% LESS DAMAGE. This will potentially help with 1 shot abilities by making it important for the Zen to have his discord on the enemy Widows or Hanzos to limit their impact. Easy fix, why hasn't this been tried?

Yeah discord needs a full rework at this point, honestly, give him 2 orbs that he can put on anyone friendly or enemy, on allies it heals 45 hp a second, but on enemies it deals roughly 20-30 damage a second for like 1.5-2 seconds and also highlights them for the entire team like widow mine for however long you leave it on them, but it also has a cool down of like 4 seconds to put it on enemies, so you have to decide whether to leave it on enemies to keep them highlighted but not doing damage or switch targets for more heals or damaging/highlighting another target. Just a stupid little idea I had, there are definitely other ways that he could be reworked, but discord does need the rework badly.
