One small detail that I really liked for this season was Conrad being a determinant character he can stay alive through the whole season and his side story about getting over Francine’s death was really neat

It was so stupid for them to have conrad point a gun on Clem. What the fuck did they expect the players to do? Support some guy we just met, or the face of the entire Telltale franchise? Lol
Still, I can't sell Clementine. I know you can make it up, but c'mon, he lit just threatened 2 kids for the sake of the "trade". Even if you do as he wanted in the shooting and try to help Francine, he STILLS do that to you. Piece.Of.Shit.
I personally enjoyed this season a lot because Clemmie needed a break, and I was glad to see she didn't suffer in this season. Lastly, to me a poignant moment was when Clem got Javi to cut her hair, the last person to cut her hair was someone she trusted and loved in Lee. I believe this was Clem's way in telling Javi she trusted him wholeheartedly.
I'd enjoy it if I didn't find most of the new characters really average. David was interesting at least
Even though I'm closer to Clem and her story, I think this season had my favorite opening of them all. It was so cinematic and eerie to see the beginning of the apocalypse happening around this little family who weren't aware of it until it was too late.
I’m kinda sad you didn’t include any of the Conrad stuff. He does so much to improve the story in later episodes and his presence is definitely adding.
Javi being bi was something I wasn't expecting, but I eagerly welcomed it.

Even though this game is looked at a bit of a black sheep, I enjoyed it still. I loved playing as Javi and being able to mow through Walkers again. Haven't felt like that since Lee.
The thing about Javi already having gone through this character arc before the game even starts is true, but I kind of like it. It shows how some people (like his brother) will always hold on to the person you used to be, even when you try your hardest to change. I don't think it was necessarily what the game was intending but it's not untrue to life.
I think the story could have been structured better but I think I got the best in my playthrough:
- I acted as a father to Gabe at every opportunity and proved to be a better one than David
- romanced Kate, stopped when I found out David was alive
- gave David every opportunity to be a good person and father
- when he continually put himself first at the expense of everyone else, I broke Javi's promise to his dad and beat the shit out of him
- I went after Gabe and saved him and told David off and he left and Kate died (I didn't get that awkward "let's start a family" scene right after our family died)
Javi evolved into (or perhaps was always) the person who stuck by his family and did anything for them. He romanced Kate after realising how much of an arsehole David was and she died tragically before they could get together but in her sacrifice, saved the town.
I really liked the story and my choices made the David/Javi fight so much better because David was a terrible father and sought after revenge.

I never understood some people’s disdain for this season in particular outside of not playing as Clem. I thought it was really fun and a different change of pace. I also liked that it was an actual family dynamic because most of the people who you encounter beforehand are either sole survivors of their families or lose family members later on.
My issue is that outside of Javi and David I didn't really care about the family dynamic. Mari was killed off super quickly, Gabe was grating, and Kate I just found okay (and didn't really like how the game tried to force a romance).
@@snnnaaaaaakeeeee4470 His and Kate's romance didn't feel very forced to me. I mean, they were on the road together for how many years? Developing feelings is bound to happen. And why not have it happen just then? It feels natural. And inevitable.
@mrleaf6055 I mean this is a game where you are meant to be able to make your own choices, so as someone that did not like Kate due to her being an annoying and flat character, the game repeatedly trying to force my Javi with her got frustrating. It was pointless.
Well, Marie got killed far too soon just for shock value, Gabe is a loud mouth little sh*t, and Kate despite being married and knowing David is right there, she's trying WAY too hard to try and get with Javi - and Clem is just... there in the background
when we were with clem for 2 prior seasons and we got some random dysfunctional family to focus on, we really could care less about them and just wanted to know whats going on with clem

I honestly really liked it. I really resonated with Javi, I saw myself in him, being a younger brother myself but also being the more grown up out of us. I'm possibly the only person who has never really liked Clementine too much so it was nice to have someone else to experience and relate to in my opinion.

It wasn't even that Jesus is from the show that made me love him almost right away (I haven't read the comics), it's that he's voiced by Brandon Keener, voice of Garrus Vakarian

Something like that happend to me aswell. I was gaming and I ran into a gamer girl and since we were loosing we started trashtalking eachother . Towards the end we made a comeback and did a 180 and complimented eachother on the plays. Then she sent me a friend request.

I used to not like Gabe at first. He started growing on me along the way, and it's kind of messed up that the breakthrough happened only moments before he actually died.
Yeah same here there was moments he annoyed me for sure but when he did good I praised him for it if I could 😂 THEN HE FREAKED DIED AT THE END
Same. I hated him for the longest time when watching other playthroughs. Then one time I decided to keep Conrad alive and I wasn't a total dick to Gabe in the episode where he fucks up and idk he kinda grew on me in that moment lol really felt like an uncle for a second and found myself actually sad over his death? I was like what is going on
I genuinely liked Gabe by the end of series I think his character had some of the most growth because I did very strongly despise him but I kept working to change how he should think and it paid off when Gabe started distancing himself from his dad and call David out on his BS and he said the the line to Javi “You’re the kind of man I can only hope to become” or something like that
He only really grew towards the end of the last episode. All the way from the beginning of Episode 1 to the beginning of Episode 5 he is ridiculously whiney.
It’s weird that what Clem does at the end is determined by her flashback choices and not the actual relationship she has with Javi, feel lucky that I got the best one.
Nice to see a name drop at 28:30, most people I know don’t remember Nova or have ever watched him. People mostly know him from Cow Chop but James will forever be my absolute favorite content creator, from 2013 until the end of time.
Despite the New Frontier and it's flaws, it's not as bad as people say it is. Like you said, the Garcia family were already fleshed out off screen. But since it was that way, it shot itself in the foot with the story. And I did like Javi as well. He was a screw up as evidenced by mistakes he made before the apocalypse, but after it, he stepped up. It would've been cool to see Javi in the final season in some way, but alas.
This season was so good I remember waking up at 5am before school to watch jackcepticeye’s video of it

Most of Telltales efforts at the time was on the Batman series. I think that's why this season was lackluster cause man The Two Batman games especially Part 2 was some damn good stuff.

I love the pre-apocylapse and beggining of apocylapse scenes at the start of each episode. It reminds me of Fear The Walking Dead

Actually this season to me is heavily underatted. I enjoyed it as much as the other seasons and it introduced me to my favourite character from telltale the walking dead. While I love Lee, Clementine and Kenny to death as did 90% of the people who played it I assume and maybe even more, my favourite is Javi. My top 20 favourite characters from the 4 seasons are:

I actually really loved this season. I'm Latino so it was nice to hear and see them speak Spanish, and I genuinely loved the new characters. It has, in my opinion, the exact same problems as the other telltale games do so it's not too much a problem for me.

the thing with jane's flashback and why i somehow love it SO MUCH is that it fits her character SO WELL.
Unlike Kenny's....
TWD series did have like jogging walkers in the first few season. They also knew how to use rocks to break glass and could climb n stuff. They brought those back the last 1/2 seaons aswell. They are MUCH more scary then the average walker. TWD did have at least 1 bloater that i know off. It was in the water well on Hershel's farm.

I’d love to see shows that directly coincide with the fall. There’s a lot of story potential to cover there.
I liked Javi and I thought Clementine made a great side character. The way that Javi and Clementine took out that walker showed that they made a great team. I like stories that are centered around a family because you (as the player) have something worth fighting for. The fight between Javi and David was something you knew was going to happen and it was really well done. It shows that family is everything and love is the answer. You didn't mention how there is a whole cutscene for Javi's death when he's trying to save David and Gabe, which I thought should have been included in the game because it shows that not everyone lives. This would have made a great callback to Lee in Season 1. (cue Alive Inside) I'm kinda disappointed that Clementine never came back to Javi in the fourth season. They had good chemistry and I was hoping that Javi would teach AJ how to play baseball.
I agree. Final season is fucking amazing 👏, but "Can't go back to Richmond. This whole place is a warzone." is an utterly stupid reason to abandon the Garcia's, TT. I would have absolutely loved to see Javi raise Alvin Junior alongside (possibly) his biological children.

I really enjoyed the story, but I remember not being impressed with a lot of the walker models. They seemed to lack the individuality of the previous two games and I noticed the same models being used over and over which dampened my enthusiasm, but didn't outright kill it. Still a solid game though. 8/10

7:14 I'd say it was actually smarter to drop the gun. There were too of them and no way of knowing how much ammo was in the gun. If Javi shot one of them, the other could shoot him before Javi could drop them or the gun could run out of ammo.

Personally I really liked this season of TWD, I really liked havi's character and (I'm gonna get flak for this) gabes character arch basically trying to be a surrogate father figure to him through being a teen and trying to teach him right from wrong against what his actual father was trying to teach him. Might've been a bit lenient for when he calls out havi having shot Conrad towards the end of season 4, but I actually tried to go easy on him for it and in the end I think I made him out to be a pretty good character through my playthrough
Though it's rep as being the "black sheep" in the series of TT games, I can definitely see

Tbh i think this one’s better than s2 i enjoyed playing as Javi and i think they should’ve gave him a chance instead of pointing out every minor bad detail. I mainly think they didn’t like it because you weren’t clementine and only played as her once or twice.
I know I'm late but I haven't seen anyone speak on it. The reason Javi throws the weapon away when first confronting the New Frontier is because they still believe in not shooting/killing an unarmed person (as evident when David attacks the grieving wife in a later episode) and he takes a leap of faith that they hold the same values, at least enough to keep him alive. He knew he was outmatched so he betted it all on that one play.
This is also reflected upon shooting the kidnapper or not before meeting Clem.
i understand that Clem is a nickname for Clementine, but when i hear it, all i can think about is that one defective grineer from warframe
Idk if you take game requests but another game you could do by TellTale is Minecraft Story Mode Seasons 1 & 2 (if you haven’t already) it would be amazing and I would definitely watch those for sure (not saying I don’t watch your other videos cause I do)

this whole game series is amazing, and i feel that this game in particular gets shit on more than it should, personally i put it tied with season 4 ahead of season 2 but behind season 1. i really think its a shame that people hate it as much as they do because as you said its called anf not season 3. in my opinion the game should be considered a side story and visually the best of twd games. i think it has the best all round roster of characters except gabe. but its the only game centered around family which i love. thats my peice and people can dislike it as much as they want but i love it.
Best all around roster? Most of the side characters and ESPECIALLY the villains were kinda bland imo

i think i should re-phase to characters we spend the most time with are all round the best so the good guys overall are my favourite from the series

Id definitely say I agree with your view on TWD. Only thing id add is how near the end of its life while your choices never affected the plot the last couple games in general weren't affecting the story either. Both the story and the plot were predetermined now so nothing the character did really affected anything. While the stories were still good it was misleading to say season 3 was the same choice driven adventure of season 1

i disagree with u on the beginning point with david its very clear the dad condition wasnt new and had steadily got worse but javi waited till he was bad bad to come see him resulting in him not being able to see his dad before he passed its less about javi being there at that time but never giving the dad thr closure he deserved in what was probably a month leading up to that scene

@@Atomsk0192 yea he was at that point in the story but he was correct about javi going thru the arc off screen but the true arc for javi is if he’ll abandon his new family (kate) for his old one (david) or vice versa after becoming the man who wouldn’t abandon his family anymore giving the options a lot more weight i imagine

I was 7 years old when the first TWD game came out (it came out in 2012 I think) so I didn’t start following it until around the time ANF was coming out. It was the first time I really followed a game’s release, so I did love it a lot. I watched Jay from the Kubz Scouts play it when it came out. I might be biased, but ANF was good and I don’t think it was that weak of an addition to the series
