The name of the show is "You are Super" and is for orphaned and disadvantaged children to give them a step up on life. The judges HAVE seen and heard her before. From her Wikipedia page .. Diana Ankudinova won the 2018 season of You Are Super! with 49 percent of the vote of the viewing audience. The 2019 season of the show was called a superseason and was to consist mostly of winners and finalists from previous seasons. As the 2018 winner, Diana Ankudinova was invited back, and she also won that 2019 superseason. This was from that superseason so she had won the past season and this was I believe the second song from this season ... so yes .. the judges knew who she was.

Thank you for your time and comments for Diana. Diana is a true artist, she sings, acts, dances, draws, paints, plays piano and ukulele. Now add in her unique one of kind voice, stage presence and different vocal techniques and you have the whole package. She sings in her native Russian also English, French, Spanish, Ukrainian, Arabic and some German. Only speaks Russian but is being tutored in English. Diana is in her 1st year of study at Gitis theater school of Art, simular to Juilliard school of music in New York. Her unique voice and tone quality is described as a Dramatic Contralto, meaning rarest and lowest female voice type, she also has polyphonic overtones, meaning to produce multiple tones at the same time, lastly from many professional voice coaches that have stated, Diana has a spectaculay lyrenx, a true gift. Yes, need other performances to have a better understanding of Diana's talent, she is so diverse and performs in many other genres. Thanks again.

The judges have seen Diana before , But it's not that they're unfazed it's more like they are just stunned by the performance , the way that they always are when watching Diana sing . That's the way it is with Diana , no matter how many times you hear her . You're always left stunned and amazed . Try reacting to her performance of " Rechenka " from the same show . If you thought this was something ........ well watch it and see .
This is her second season in front of these judges - the first season (derniere danse and Rechenka) are where she surprises them - here they already know how great she is.
I think the judges had seen her at least one other week. Her 'Rechenka' perfromance is unnervingly amazing.
In my dreams: Floor, Dimash, and Dianna are on the verse and Tatiana joins Floor for the chorus.

The video was blocked !? And you filed an appeal, a couple of days passed and the video was unlocked. It's good! But it could have been better if you set the video output with a time delay for a couple of days when loading. Then the video will be available through the current search.

At 14 years old Diana entered 'You are Super', a showcase for orphans and disadvantaged children in Russia. Diana was an orphan child at one point. She won it, then they invited her back for a Grand Prix super season and this song was one of her three, so yeah...they already knew of her. She won the second year easily also. SMS fan voting in the finals and she easily received most of the votes. She was 15 when she won this season. Today she is 17, about to turn 18 at the end of this Month and releasing her first original album within weeks if all goes well. Diana has a one of a kind unusually beautiful vocal color and deep, powerful lower register...I'd call it addicting, at least for some of us. You should react to Rechenka next. It's basically a world class performance from a 14 year old girl. Enjoy. :)

It is based on a Russian folksong about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her deceased mother's blessing for her marriage.

Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother. Because of this beginning her speech was very undeveloped and she was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talents was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

Diana's low register has a very different resonance from Cher. It's much richer. mho
Her voice and her technique are impressive. What you said that reminds you of Cher, yes, she is giving a similar resonance.
You can hear her voice become lighter after that because she changes it.
It's possible to get very different sounds placing the tongue and mouth differently.
Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human.
First, she is a dramatic contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich.
Second, she has a spectacular larynx. It's been called the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below)
When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune.
And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in seven billion.

Diana is a true contralto , very rare type of voice. This presentation may shock some people, it’s normal 😂
The show is called “You are Super!” And is designed to show and support young singers who are/were orphans (Diana was taken to an orphanage at age 3, due to severe neglect and violence from her biological mother. She was adopted some time after, and have a lovely family). All the contestants receive lessons and career orientations (as far as I know).
The Pièce de résistance for Diana is her rendition in this same show, of a old Russian folklore song called “Rechenka”. All her fans and a huge amount of artists and vocal teachers will tell you it’s a mind blowing experience. Here’s the link if you choose to react:

Thank you for the information, there is a lot to her early history that isn't for the weak of heart. Igor Krutoy assisted Diana and her adoptive mother in getting an apartment in Moscow so she could get the best possible help to develop her talent. She is a true miracle if there has ever been one. She is a blessing for the whole world.

I adore her voice! Songs to check out in English: "Human," "Tomorrow is a Lie," "Havana," "Take On Me." In Russian: "Rechenka" is a stunning performance! It's a Russian folk song. "Derniere Danse" is in French. She has many more beautiful songs.

She does this to everyone, including the judges. You were right about the judges having heard her sing before, which they had in this competition the previous season, which she won. This odd 2nd show in 2018 was the only time that "You Are Super" did a winners special. And, yes (I am sure you know this a year after your post), she locked up the win in this season with this song. But, to me, every song she had sung previously in both seasons was equally as moving and always worth doing reactions. My personal favorite is "Rechenka", which she seldom sings even now as she says it can be emotionally draining. She closed a concert in Moscow with it in late 2020 (if I remember correctly). It was absolutely beautiful. Nuff said. Thanks so much for a great reaction.

Diana's first name is pronounced Dee-AHN-ah. Her last name is really difficult for most non-Russian speakers because the accent is on the third syllable. I found it easier to begin saying Ankudinova as if it were two words: "Ahn-koo DEEN-ah-vah" or "Anku DEENava" Once you get into the rhythm of accenting that third syllable, then you can go back to saying Ankudinova as one word. Note that the "o" in her name is pronounced more like "ah".

Tom, Diana is one person where you really need your wife by your side. Still, as you said, you need to here more: to that end here are some covers she has done: Havana, Human (both in English), and Dernier Danse (in French), and Rechenka (Russian Folk song in Russian, her native language) Be sure to explain to your wife about Diana's childhood.
And finally pronounciation: DEE anna an ku DEE nova (emphasis on the capitalized words). Just respectful, not picking at you, much..,
Oh, and there may be a small amount of auto-tune, but for the most part there is no affect on Diana's voice, it's all her. She is a master Yodler as well, which is the flip you hear in several of her songs.
Its mind boggling the first time. Then after a few songs you find out how prescribed and predictable the female voice has become in standard entertainment.
