"Revenge of the Sith" is hands down the best Star Wars ever made, battles, score, actors, scenery, cinematography, politics, love... There was everything in it, that's what i call EPIC.
It's more spectacle than substance. It's visually fun and engaging. Call it what it is, a spectacle fest. Not surprising since the Prequels heavily relied on CGI more than the Original Trilogy. I appreciate the movie but more because of all the games that came out of it.
For me, the prequels were always the "true Star Wars films" cause those movies came out when I was at the age of starting to get interested in stuff like that and I was sooo fascinated when I first saw the prequels. It took noticeably long time when I even got to know there was an original trilogy. That's why I have grown to love these prequel movies so it feels weird when so many ppl dislike them :D ...And because of that, I ask anyone who hates them to tell why, what was bad in them coz I really cant tell what was bad since I have so deep emotional connection to them.
its exactly the same for me , I grew up watching the prequels and I love all 8 Star Wars films equally but it is a fact that in the prequels ....some of the dialogue and acting is kinda cheesy at some moments for example , the dude who played Darth maul may have been a great stunt artist but all his lines in the movie are terrible acted , almost childish another example jar jar banks is annoying , not funny and just dumb overall (if you think otherwise then thats great) there are other reasons why ppl hate the prequels but I'm not going into it too far i dont hate the prequels but I think that from an objective view , the original trilogy are generally better movies.
I think Star Wars fans are spoiled by how much more vast this universe of fiction has become that they expect so much more than one movie can stuff into two and a half hours. They forget how much effort is put into a production like Episode III. I can't believe George was so hands on with almost every aspect.
Eh, it's good. Better than all the prequels/sequels for sure. And it might be as good as RotJ (kind of doubt it though). But no way is it better than Empire, and it doesn't beat the original. One thing it doesn't have is the sense of fun and adventure that the original trilogy had. It's all doom and gloom.
@@kdkseven That’s kinda.. the point. The prequels serve as the backstory to Darth Vader, its not going to be fun and adventurey, its supposed to be doom and gloom.
Insane to watch an hour long documentary for a scene that only lasts about a minute. Really awe inspiring. People complain so much about CGI, especially in the Star Wars prequels but if you see how much effort and love was put into this film you have to at least respect it.
I'll never know if its childhood nostalgia, if I'm bad at judging movies, or if these movies are just unfairly criticized, but I still love the prequels. Maybe not executed as well as the original trilogy, but I thought the story telling was magnificent.
I personally believe revenge of the sith is one of the best big-budget films of the 2000s. Only things on the same level are The Dark Knight and The Lord of the Rings.
They overused them. The technology wasn't advanced enough and/or they cut corners. The Clonetroopers should have been played by extras in costumes. Then when needed to, duplicated by computer.
I think a lot of people watch these and end up hating George. I'm not the biggest fan of the prequels, they are fun and entertaining in their own ways, but you have to admire his commitment and passion he put into these movies. If anything, it's these documentaries that make me have more respect for him as a huge fan of film-making in general. Even if I disagree with the countless additions he has made to special editions.
+Pareidolia Personally, I feel a bit sad, thinking about the effort they spent, the huge number of people involved, the time used to think about it, to plan everything... and the disappointment of the final result.
+3sm1ro The people that made the film weren't disappointed. Heck, Revenge of the Sith received high praise when it was released, from both critics and the public.
No it's just it wasn't like how the pictured the movies to be, honestly both the prequel trilogy and Star Wars Episode VII will get hate just because it didn't deliver them what THEY wanted. Yeah and if you think about it, they're the same people who didn't like the prequel trilogy because it wasn't like the originals and now they're hating on it because it's like the originals. I'm so confuse.
mranderson00001 Hey mranderson, from which Blu-rays are these documentaries? I mean there are different special editions, which one should I buy? I have the special DVDs but the original trilogy dont have documentaries :/
That battle is still one of my all time Star Wars favorites. I watched episode 7 recently, and still nothing came close to the intensity that battle gave off. I have always loved how stars wars seems to save the best battles for last. Vader vs Luke/Palpatine- Anakin vs Obi wan.. It's just amazing at how well they pull this stuff off.
Prequels are masterpieces, I don't understand why people hate them.. The dialogues are good, it's just the fact that Hayden had to act childish / arrogant because Lucas wanted the exact example of 20yros
@@hermos3602 I think the biggest problem with the prequel was fans basically decided what they wanted to have happen and when George Lucas did what he wanted with HIS creation, the fans turned on it. Were they the greatest things ever, no, but they were still very good movies that filled in the gaps of the OG trilogy.
No movie is without flaws. You can throw all the criticisms at the prequels, fine, but they've always been so captivating to me. Especially Episode III. Honestly growing up, I watched this documentary on the special features disc probably about as many times as I watched the actual movie itself. Same with Empire of Dreams. Thank you George and the countless people that worked on these films for everything you did
Besides, filmmaking is hard enough in the controlled environment of a green-screen studio; filmmaking on-site makes everything that much more of a logistical and physical nightmare. It's why _Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark_ had Jones shoot the swordsman in that iconic scene, because Harrison Ford came down with sickness during production.
This movie took a lot of work and effort and it really did live up to its name. People keep saying that they were lazy when making such a film, this movie took so much work and time that you should be very thankful. Episode III is a great movie, and tied 2nd with ESB.

I've just finished watching the star wars prequels and for the first time ever could see how extraordinarily brilliant they are. George Lucas is a man of incomparable vision and there is an astonishingly extraordinary amount of beauty and depth, texture and nuance - a great visionary brilliance in the prequel trilogy. George's storytelling/mythmaking and worldbuiding is absolutely incredible. There is so much truth and profundity in those films, and he absolutely pushed the envelope and raised the bar from the original trilogy. He should have stayed the path, not sold his creation, and created something new again with the sequel trilogy. It is our great loss. If you don't see the beauty, vision and wisdom of the prequels, that's okay too. May the force be with you. 🎯
Just wait for the sequel fans a new generation of star wars fans. You grew to love it I grew to accept it and now the prequels are great, it's amazing how star wars brings us together.
Episode III is probably my favorite out of the entire saga , maybe tied with the Empire Strikes Back … The way they slowly showed Anakin’s turn to the dark side and the collapse of the Jedi order and how it ends with Vader’s birth is just done magnificently . I kinda get why people disliked the Phantom Menace, it just felt like a comedy at times and didn’t really gave that feel the original movies had. There was just too much going on at some point… however in Revenge of the Sith it just all ties in very exactly and feels like a true missing part to the Saga and made it feel more complete .
When I watched Revenge of the Sith in theatres, for the first time,...thru the entire movie I was shocked. I was born watching the original trilogy..and here I was. Nothing like it
Bradley Whitehead I don´t understand your question, I´m afraid. 30 years after ROTJ, and the galaxy still looks basically the same?? That is just so lazy and convenient, and doesnt make any sense. The prequels showed us the beauty of the galaxy that the rebels were fighting to restore, and any episode 7 should have given us at least some sense of prosperity and accomplishment. Even with the rise of the first order it is not that the rebels didn´t win, isn´t it?
fundhund62, Its like... HEY GUYS HEY GUYS!! I have a good idea, listen... what if we change the tie fighters colors instead of Gray/Black, to Black/Gray? JJ Abrams: OMG!!! You are in bro!! I havent finished! And change the X-Wings 4 engines to two splited? JJ Abrams: MAN YOU ARE ON FIRE give him the job!!!
"Yeah. And make Yoda orange instead of green, and this time he will be female and only know about the force, not use it. And let´s have another cute little droid, but this time it´ll have spherical shape. And fans definetely want a new mask wearing villain in black robes, who uses a voice synthesizer, betrayed the Jedi order and has Daddy issues. And another old, super-bad emperor dude with a scarred face! And let´s make Luke female! And most importantly, let´s give C-3PO a red arm!! That´s so original, fans will completely freak out!!"
If people wonder why episode III is the best of all the star wars movies, it is because George had learned with the past 5 movies how to make a successful star wars movie. Basically, it was his last masterpiece.
I will always love the prequels. So many people hate them because of the dialogues, but I think the story is by far more interesting than the originals are. Of course I love the originals and I also know that some characters like jar jar are just shit, but something I really like about the prequels is the story about Anakin becoming a sith which is (in my opinion) by far more intersting than the story about Luke...
No you don't need to hate on Jar jar binks to be taken seriously. He's just a side character, a funny one who is clumsy. Not enought reason to hate on him.
I remember that wonderful May of 2005. There was a peculiar atmosphere of excitement because of the premiere, as at that time everyone knew this was the final episode of the Saga. One that would tie the era of the Republic with the era of the Empire, the 2000s with the 1980s. Despite - or perhaps because - I was a boy then, the film itself was an experience without equal in my life. And to this day, despite knowing of the weaker aspects of the movie, "Revenge of the Sith" is my favorite of the six episodes and actually the most favorite film of my life: the story, the characters, the music, the worldbuilding, the sound effects of everything from igniting of a lightsaber to the pressurizing of Vader's helmet - and just the mythical scale of events... Thank You, George Lucas.
The opening shot of revenge of the sith is still timeless to me, that big swooping shot of the entire galaxy while obi wan and anakin battle through it is truly a thing of beauty
+Nerd Stark you know if you try to troll dont make it so obvious ;). People wont get angry at your comment because they know you dont mean it :) everybody knows TFA is fucking awesome :)
Episode III was actually an amazing film in it's own right, even when viewed as a stand-alone movie, on it's own, outside of the Star Wars saga... I actually feel that it was very under-appreciated. But just look at the story-line, the character development, the locations, the dialogue, the effects and the soundtrack... ALL top-notch! It's definately my favourite of the Star Wars "prequels" (as they've come to be known), but as I said, I find it an absolutely ASTOUNDING piece of cinema, even when viewed as a singular, stand-alone movie, but, having said that, another of it's AMAZING qualities is how it ties into the other Star Wars movies. It fits seamlessly into the universe created by Lucas, and one of the stongest instances of this in my opinion is the character development of established and much-loved characters from the franchise, particularly the story of the single most interesting character in the entire saga (in my opinion) Anakin Skywalker! Anyone who hasn't viewed "Revenge of the Sith" yet (for whatever strange and unbelievable reason) you are in for a SERIOUS treat! One of the most polished and well-constructed pieces of cinema of our generation. Much respect and love from Davey, a HUGE life-long Star Wars nut from the island of Éire/Ireland, (where filming for Episode VII "The Force Awakens" (The "Luke" scene) and the upcoming Episode VIII took place) :)
You shouldn't watch it on it's own. Of course the development is bad because it's the final movie in a trilogy. The development isn't at the end of the trilogy, it's at the beginning and middle.
Totally disagree. Rots had terrible writing. It did have a lot of good actors but none of them were able to make the awful script sound natural. Rots story isn’t even that good. Like people democratically vote for palpatine to be king of space? WTF??? Also the final battle went on for WAY too long it was basically just BvS final battle with overused cgi and bad dialogue.
Nothing you can do will ever convince the rabid anti prequel fans that these were better. Complete beautiful remakes by fans of the darth Vader fight scene to them arent better than the of a cording to them. Nothing is good enough for them
God I love Star Wars... This was the best episode to ever come out. Love seeing how it was all made and the dedication George Lucas and all the production had
If you notice, there's a clear difference in styles. Between Disney Star Wars and Lucas Star Wars. This is very detailed and a solid, functional documentary. We get offices, papers, logistics and so on. Down to the nitty gritty. They're not trying to convince you that they're good. It's not propaganda. You look at the behind the scenes for the new Star Wars films, it's all about "the magic" and the "feeling". No real insight into the production. I feel like this reflects the quality and end result in each film. Disney is trying to convince you. Lucas shows you.
That intro sequence is maybe my favorite part of any documentary ever. The zoom out to the web of people involved in making a single scene work, so cool.
I'm 49. Star wars came out when I was in kindergarten. When it came out a kid in fourth grade told me Darth Vader was burned by lava and that's why he's in the suit. How the hell did he know that?
I love the prequels wholeheartedly, especially Revenge of the Sith, which is one of my favourite films, even the parts in this film that are noticeably cheesy are extremely entertaining and funny to me. The prequels are either fantastic or just hilarious during scenes with some poorly written dialogue, I challenge you to name a film series that possesses more quoted lines 😂
What I hope for in Episode 9 is an awesome lightsaber fight between Rey vs Kylo Ren and then Luke Skywalker vs Snoke (or Darth Plagueis if the theory is true).
I just can't understand everybody who doesn't like the prequels especially, all these emotions and the epic. Sometimes I even think they are better than the original trilogy...
While I think the prequels have there ups and downs, the documentaries, especially this one, are a fantastic step by step 101 on the art of film making and what it takes to make a movie. I gotta admit these docs helped me in making my projects.
This doc really is a major reason I'm a Prequel Defender™ and for Episode III in particular. They make it so clear how much effort went into it and how much every little thing meant to George Lucas. It's also just a really cool comprehensive look into the filmmaking process!
In 1997 Lucas came into see the movie 'Volcano' at my work - now I know why, but I sold him a ticket and the dude is hella short, so no one recognized him, but me and my friend, I could see him anticipating, begging me not to out him, and I could see his visible relief when instead of saying 'Enjoy the Film Mr. Lucas' I said 'Enjoy the Film' - I could see he appreciated it, *you owe me one George...* I was working at the Cinema theatre in Corte Madera. ILM used this theatre sometimes. I got to speak to the actual 2 people responsible for Jabba the Hutt in the Ep.IV 'Special Edition' - They looked so shocked when I told them I didn't think it looked good or real; I said that it looked like someone just pasted it on the screen, like a colorform. You could tell they hadn't heard the other side... Interesting to not they re-did it 3 times after...
I’m going to explain to everyone why people hate the sequels (Does not contain my opinions) When the prequels came most adult fans HATED them because it didn’t meet their expectations of what a Star Wars movie should be Many people thought that they were bland compared to the originals and lacked the simplicity of what made the originals so amazing The original trilogy was a fantastic anomaly that no movie can match and people wanted the sequels to be just like them Yet the only people really liked the prequels when they came out were kids because well they’re kids and the prequels were the Star Wars movies they grew up with And the reason why they continued loving them is because well they’re used to them it their eyes that was their Star Wars movies And obviously not all people who grew up with these movies loved them but most kids had these in they’re head as their Star Wars films So when episode 7 came out the reason why people hated them was because they weren’t used to this movie because it just came out The fans (not all of them) focused too much on their expectations and when they were disappointed and looking for things to complain about often coming out as “nitpicking” People didn’t realize that the film actually had a lot of things to write home about When people say it’s a ripoff of episode 4 they forget that most of the things it barrows from episode 4 are played off in a clever way often inverting the emotional context of the scene The force awakens has enough things to make it different from episode 4 Luke Skywalker is a random nobody who wants to get off of his desert planet Rey is also a random nobody but it is clearly seen that she is a skilled fighter and is a good pilot based on the fact that she salvages ship parts and finds out they work Also has been in the millennium falcon before based on where she says “that one’s garbage” when talking in reference about the millennium falcon this shows us how Rey knows about the falcon and how it works And unlike Luke Rey wants to stay on her planet Except the one thing they have in common is that they can use the force without training (the training scene on the millennium Falcon is NOT force training it is lightsaber training, in lightsaber training the force guides you where as in force training YOU learn to guide and control the force) One last thing The kids who are growing up with the sequels in 20 years are going to look back and say “why did people hate these movies” So now the people who hated the sequels in the new generation’s eyes are now like the people who hated the prequels (if you like or dislike the prequels or the sequels that’s completely fine) just know that in 20 years the sequels are going to be seen as the “misunderstood jems” that many people saw the prequels as
@@mrclean3472 I have a problem with the sequels because they feel rushed, lack consistency at times and shit massively on the previous trilogies' story. There are parts that I enjoy. Episode IX makes no fucking sense though and there are wasted characters(Finn, Holdo, Tallie Lintra)...

For me, the prequels were always the "true Star Wars films" cause those movies came out when I was at the age of starting to get interested in stuff like that and I was sooo fascinated when I first saw the prequels. It took noticeably long time when I even got to know there was an original trilogy. That's why I have grown to love these prequel movies so it feels weird when so many ppl dislike them :D
...And because of that, I ask anyone who hates them to tell why, what was bad in them coz I really cant tell what was bad since I have so deep emotional connection to them.
Arttu Siukonen same
Arttu Siukonen exactly the same here
Same here bru :)
its exactly the same for me , I grew up watching the prequels and I love all 8 Star Wars films equally
but it is a fact that in the prequels ....some of the dialogue and acting is kinda cheesy at some moments
for example , the dude who played Darth maul may have been a great stunt artist but all his lines in the movie are terrible acted , almost childish
another example
jar jar banks is annoying , not funny and just dumb overall
(if you think otherwise then thats great)
there are other reasons why ppl hate the prequels but I'm not going into it too far
i dont hate the prequels but I think that from an objective view , the original trilogy are generally better movies.

I think Star Wars fans are spoiled by how much more vast this universe of fiction has become that they expect so much more than one movie can stuff into two and a half hours. They forget how much effort is put into a production like Episode III. I can't believe George was so hands on with almost every aspect.
Best Star Wars movie for me. And I don't give a fuck what people say.
Totally agree
100%

"it all starts with the screenplay.." It's a shame Kathleen Kennedy worked with Lucas for so long and yet somehow never learned this ..
I'll never know if its childhood nostalgia, if I'm bad at judging movies, or if these movies are just unfairly criticized, but I still love the prequels. Maybe not executed as well as the original trilogy, but I thought the story telling was magnificent.
Huntley 1 and 2 were bad 3 was ok just not good by other movies in the saga's standard.
Ben Unnerstall that's like, your opinion man. In my opinion, your opinion sux sticky ballsacks.
Jason Rodriguez Well, there are some subjective things about the prequels that make them worse than the OG saga.

I personally believe revenge of the sith is one of the best big-budget films of the 2000s. Only things on the same level are The Dark Knight and The Lord of the Rings.
Agreed
i know i'm in the minority of this but i love how they made the prequels with all of the animations/CGI/digital effects

Yes, I completely agree. The behind the scenes on the prequels are better than any BtS on any other film Ive seen.
Lord Of The Rings is the king of behind-the-scenes documentaries, in my opinion.

Personally, I feel a bit sad, thinking about the effort they spent, the huge number of people involved, the time used to think about it, to plan everything... and the disappointment of the final result.

"Lazy way out" my ankle, Digital imagery is freakin hard!
Star Wars has always contained a blend of practical and digital effects. The OT used blue screens too.

Man, behind the scenes stuff is so great. Passion and hard work to make something is so great to watch.
These Docs NEED to be on Disney +
This video gives me such a bittersweet, warm, nostalgic feeling.
Sequel trilogy makes the prequels look like the OT.
The last jedi makes 1 and 2 problems look minor.
wespozo I love all of them
I’m going to explain to everyone why people hate the sequels
(Does not contain my opinions)
When the prequels came most adult fans HATED them because it didn’t meet their expectations of what a Star Wars movie should be
Many people thought that they were bland compared to the originals and lacked the simplicity of what made the originals so amazing
The original trilogy was a fantastic anomaly that no movie can match and people wanted the sequels to be just like them
Yet the only people really liked the prequels when they came out were kids because well they’re kids and the prequels were the Star Wars movies they grew up with
And the reason why they continued loving them is because well they’re used to them it their eyes that was their Star Wars movies
And obviously not all people who grew up with these movies loved them but most kids had these in they’re head as their Star Wars films
So when episode 7 came out the reason why people hated them was because they weren’t used to this movie because it just came out
The fans (not all of them) focused too much on their expectations and when they were disappointed and looking for things to complain about often coming out as “nitpicking”
People didn’t realize that the film actually had a lot of things to write home about
When people say it’s a ripoff of episode 4 they forget that most of the things it barrows from episode 4 are played off in a clever way often inverting the emotional context of the scene
The force awakens has enough things to make it different from episode 4
Luke Skywalker is a random nobody who wants to get off of his desert planet
Rey is also a random nobody but it is clearly seen that she is a skilled fighter and is a good pilot based on the fact that she salvages ship parts and finds out they work
Also has been in the millennium falcon before based on where she says “that one’s garbage” when talking in reference about the millennium falcon this shows us how Rey knows about the falcon and how it works
And unlike Luke Rey wants to stay on her planet
Except the one thing they have in common is that they can use the force without training (the training scene on the millennium Falcon is NOT force training it is lightsaber training, in lightsaber training the force guides you where as in force training YOU learn to guide and control the force)
One last thing
The kids who are growing up with the sequels in 20 years are going to look back and say “why did people hate these movies”
So now the people who hated the sequels in the new generation’s eyes are now like the people who hated the prequels (if you like or dislike the prequels or the sequels that’s completely fine) just know that in 20 years the sequels are going to be seen as the “misunderstood jems” that many people saw the prequels as
@@mrclean3472 I saw them as works of art,I loved all three of the prequel trilogy, minus
Jar jar
@@mrclean3472 I have a problem with the sequels because they feel rushed, lack consistency at times and shit massively on the previous trilogies' story. There are parts that I enjoy. Episode IX makes no fucking sense though and there are wasted characters(Finn, Holdo, Tallie Lintra)...
to this day.. this is still the best star wars doc out there
Thanks for the scene and all scenes together. Truly thankful to everyone of you contributing to such a masterpiece.
YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!!!
I HATE YOU
