The train scene where they defend Jean is so sick. One of my favorite scenes of a comic book movie. Along with Night Crawler going savage on them. Gave me flashbacks to the opening of X2.
it's so good! this movie is way underrated.
❤❤❤hilyah
Definitely
hells yea🤙 that train scene is badass
I loved the swashbuckling Nightcrawler homage they did in this movie when he got mad. 👌🏿
I like how this movie is set in the early 90's where Magneto goes from looking like Michael Fassbender to Ian Mckellen in just a few years when the original X-Men movie takes place.
One of the butterfly effects is a radically different skin care routine
But remember the original (along with X2 and X3) are set in the "not too distant future," so it's not 2000. I settled on 2007, but that's me. So Fass still has 15 years to transform.
Same as Star Wars Episode 3 to 4 with Obi-Wan
The first 15 mins and the last 20 mins of this movie were really solid. I even liked Hans Zimmer score a lot too.
His score alone made this movie worth watching
I agree. The ending was very strong. The rest of the movie was so bad, it tarnished the overall move
@@DruDilly I actually think that Jean's arc was handled fine.
You didnt talk about the famous stair walk of xavier.
😂. No one wants to
@@Poe-007 why? It was awesome
Simon Kinberg might not be a good writer
But you can bet that he's a great producer
It was because of him that we got "First Class", "Deadpool" and "Logan"
And not to mention "The Martian" too
I don’t like hiring a first time director for this, but better him than Bryan Singer.
Its shocking how poor the writing is in "Dark Phoenix", but he's the credited as the sole writer on the screenplay of "Days of Future Past". Not counting the story credits of course, of which there are two other writers, who worked on the screenplay for "First Class". Overall, "Dark Phoenix" was a sad end to the prequel series and the mainline movies in general.
He also did a great job as director
Instead of trying to replace Bryan Singer's style, like Brett Ratner in TLS, Kinberg was able to give the movie an identity of its own
Idk why but I genuinely don’t find this movie bad. Same thing with Eternals I think it’s overhated
I agree
literally
Fr, it's just that people are tired of superheroes movies at this point.
Eternal I was falling asleep 🥱😴
I think the Eternals are not as popular as the Xmen or the Avengers
The not so subtle MCU (Mutant Containment Unit) collecting the mutants to imprison them.
😂😂
They're taking the Mutants to the MCU against their will
Anything that has Nightcrawler gets an automatic win for me. Feed me Kurt, I long for swashbuckle boy.
For all of its flaws…this movie has some good re-watchability. The train sequence is badass.
This movie rocks! Hans Zimmer’s score crushes and that final sequence on the train is next level!
I loved his score so much that I made videos with his score playing in other Marvel movies
16:23 ummmmm
yea i noticed that too
😄
So, the original plan of this movie was to be even closer to the comic books and the animated series, even when that was scrapped, they still had the villains coming straight from the comic book storyline? Honestly, I think this movie gets too much shit, I do quite like this movie and I think Sophie did a good job as Jean.
Live action Jean Grey has the potential to be as loved as Wanda if done right.
And just like in the 97 reboot of the animated series; the X-Men have a telephone direct line to a government official. And having Dazzler in the movie is a callback to Dazzler being part of the dark Phoenix saga in the 90s cartoon run.
The kid running through the halls at the end is definitely Kid Omega
3:34 the title in Turkiye was only Dark Phoenix and many people (general audience) went to the theaters without realising it was an X-Men installment.
I’ve also been rewatching all the X-Men films, but this one I never watched since it came out until last night, due to all the bad buzz about it. But I enjoyed actually it last night when I watched it. It wasn’t great, but also not as bad as people said it was on Twitter.
I’m championing myself as the next Storm.
Good luck with that
@@khonshugodofthenightsky2159 thank you 😏🤞🏾
i was literally just watching this last night
I like this movie especially the train scene
Love this re-watch
Same
Lol, I just finished DOFP and was about to start Dark Phoenix...😆
I wonder if they will ever get the dark Phoenix story line right
Xmen animated series did pretty good
@@FourLegSharkoh yeah they did, I mean in live action though
I kinda hope they stop trying. 😅
For a while it was like Gwen Stacy’s death on how we were never gonna see it done right ever
@@sparkymist yeah but to be fair (in my opinion) the only good live action xmen are X2 and first class
Honestly I feel like Simon tried to do what was right by getting rid of extra plot lines to focus on Jean and Phoenix force but ultimately the studio was not interested in this leading to more films, and it killed it pretty hard
Not the worst x-men movie but the train car scene was not only one of the best fight scenes in any x-men movie but one of the best fight scenes in any comic book adaptation movie period .
10:07 I like the Skrull shapeshifting VFX tbh
Wow... I had no clue this movie even existed??? Not that this recap makes me want to go back and watch it. These actors deserved sooo much better from the writers and directors.
It came out when Disney wasn't promoting any of Fox's leftover films. So it was under-promoted.
I watched this movie again recently and I like it way more now than I did when it first came out. Kinberg did a great job directing. Also that train fight scene is amazing for being a last minute reshoot.
I found Simon Kinberg's direction pretty solid
He was able to give the movie an identity of its own, rather than trying to replicate Bryan Singer's direction
Unlike Brett Ratner tried to do in The Last Stand
@6:20 YES. This. I've been saying exactly this! 1000%
Its not the best X-Men movie but it was a lot better than last stand. Both flicks made the major mistake of skipping the Phoenix saga and going right into the dark Phoenix.
Phoenix jean snap people away like thanos in this movie
Just finished rewatching it
You guys turn a quiet and dull Saturday afternoon into a great moment. Thank you.
I love this movie. Sophie Turner was outstanding as Jean Grey. I just wish they had done a better job of making this movie make sense and connect with the 2000 X-Men film.
Hey, Marvel!, just do origin stories of popular X-Men i.e. Storm, Cyclops, Gambit, Jubilee, Jean Grey... then do an X-men movie kind of like... I don't know... "The Avengers Saga?"
I'm still quite confused about this film
This is supposed to be set in 1992
And Xmen (2000) is supposed to be set in ~2003
Not only do they seem to age 30 years in 8 years, but also Jean and Mystique are dead?
Days of Future Past changed the whole timeline
Right! Where's my justice for Rebecca Romijn!!
It was okay. Just kinda bland.
I liked the X-Men working as a team but the whole story felt a bit disposable. The first half was too repetitive of Last Stand then the second half was underwhelming. I enjoyed the train fight but didn't realise that stuff would be the huge climax.
It would have been far more interesting if they got cosmic with it like the first 15 mins implied they would.
Thanks for all this team does!! You guys and dolls are slayin it 🛡🗡
I actually like this movie. It wasn't as good as the others but i still like it.
Same.
It’s hot garbage
In retrospect, it's better than most of the post-Endgame MCU movies
The Phoenix elements and moments were the best, but the movie plot around it was garbage 😂
Same. 👍🏽 I liked it.
Thank you for your service it’s a real sacrifice to watch this film more than once
I’m glad they went for that train sequence instead of a space battle because that was one part of the movie that I actually thought was really cool!
@19:28 Shout out wolverine aka Professor W! In my timeline logan was paralyzed after he killed charles via possession!📝
Little glitch at 16:24 . I’m a video editor myself so I love and appreciate what you guys do :)
Magnus going Ultra Instinct on Jean was Epic.. There's still a lil bit of Apocalypse's power within him , when he was Horsemen..
If you watch this movie out of context with the rest of the "First Class" era, it totally slaps. Great acting, pacing, choreography. One of those flicks that I think got caught into a specific kind of fatigue. But holy hell is it fun.
I really liked this movie. The train fight scene was AMAZING! I'm a little upset you didn't talk about it lol. Much love though.
You got the snikt right this time😂
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
Force fields and movement of objects and things are considered Telekinetic. Telepathy has more to do with communication and mind reading (sometimes control).
When Jean absorbs the “solar flare”, right before it's finished it is in the shape of a Phoenix also.
Holy cow, never been this early. Loce all these videos :)
Love this channel ong
It'd be so awesome for storm to be real good in live action
Waiting all week for this! Woohoo!
What do you think of the possibility of Storm appearing in Blade
Feels out of place to me honestly....
@abivalentin8331 did you know that there is a comic storyline where Storm marries Dracula
?
If I'd not watched this video, would have taken me a while to figure it out. But I assure you, I would have. It's a great remix. My favorite so far
5:12 X-Men '97 has been amazing
Brilliant film.
Shot in Montréal, Québec. Like Days of Future Past and and Apocalypse.
I love this movie for what it is!
I think this is a great idea how is the project
What I like the most about the X-Men movies is the fact that they never tried to follow the MCU's formula or its tropes, especially after it became a trend
They never relied on nostalgia, the tone always kept consistent, and they always focused on the present
And Dark Phoenix kept that way
They kept their sense of individuality. Even the score was different in each movie
It's not nostalgia, it's comic accuracy and staying true to the characters.
I don't think you know what nostalgia means...
I don't think you know what nostalgia means if you think the MCU relies on it.
I have that same Nirvana shirt and I bought it last year.
16:23 ???? 😂
I'm officially 37. I just found out I've been using "slaps" wrong. Well, not so much as using the word/phrase, but what I interpreted it to mean lol. I'm officially 37 and it does not "slap"
He’s still playing that Multiple Miggs character from Split!!
I just saw this movie because I’m binge watching in prep for Deadpool. Best part of this movie was the train scene and the fact that the Phoenix force came from space like the comics. As well as the acting from Fassbender and Sophie Turner. Otherwise I did not like this movie. If I ever binge watch these movies again in a chronological order or anyway tbh I’m leaving this one out completely. Even if you use the whole the timeline was changed because of Days of Future past. It just felt rushed and like it was just to get another X-men movie out. Just my opinion but it really felt lack luster. As a stand alone not bad in its action, should’ve just been a clearly stated different timeline
In terms of the Deadpool 2 scene, I always assumed/applied the head canon that it was the aged up versions of the characters essentially in that cameo. Deadpool, however, wanted to see them as the younger versions so thats how he pictured them. Whether its a result of his insanity or the 4th wall breaking powers Deadpool is known to have, i cant actually say, but I personally believe most of his 4th wall breaking events are him just acting like hes in a movie or comic book.
i always wondered about Mystique and Nightcrawler in the same movie and portrayed like they are... Mystique is his mom and in the movies they look like they are completely oblivious to that.. same with Rogue....
Comparing Logan to dark phoenix is wild
I think I would have liked it so much better if there 2 parts.
damn that was suppose to be Selene?
Never thought they would jubilee and random role like that.
Love how much more methodical the "SNIKT SNIKT" has gotten as there re-watches have gone on.
19:48 Deadpool and Wolverine would like a word with you
Cool beans👍
I personally think apocalypse was a little bit better than dark Phoenix
W video
I'm curious what this film would've looked like if they had acc been allowed to go w/ their original plan & didn't hv so much studio intervention
19:56 is it just me or the kid looks like kid omega
"Copains", depending on context can mean either "friends" or "boyfriends/girlfriends" which is hilarious since there was always a rumour there was something else going on with those two (and would become a thing in real life with actors Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen).
worth noting sophie turner is besties with taylor swift who’s besties with blake lively who’s married to ryan reynolds. i’d make a movie with all my friends 🤷🏻♀️ taylor for deadpool variant campaign
This one was better thrn I thought it would be. It seemed sad how it became a Blue Beetle.
0:56 SKETCH REFRENCE???
19:29 of course wolverine would do that 😂😂😂😂
We need Fassbender back as Magneto!
Daddy
I think you guys should break down the fantastic 4 movies
why wouldn’t they rename the school after Raven in this specific scenario ? bffr
The movie doesn't make a lot of sense from a comic book perspective. The powers were cool, but it lacked respect for mainly all characters. I'd argue the only personality I'd save is Xavier's
Wait a minute isn’t jean grey chilling tho in the future version of days of future past
I feel like half of the problems with this movie would be fixed by casting someone else as Jean grey
Oh come on now; you know you have to cover "Generation X" to be totally complete. TV movies count. :)
Petition for them to finishing dazzlers song during the forest party.
Actually a good movie
the train scene isn't bad at all
How do they look the same from the 60s to the 90s? Is this a nod to how comic characters never age?
Was the way "xmen"
Was the same way as-
Jack Nicholson for batman?
😮
Yay 😂❤
16:23 What was that?
One of the worst comic book movies ever made funny how fox fumbled dark phoenix fumbled two times lmaoo
Crazy cause 2 years ago Logan came out and that movie was great
The coolest thing I can say is, Batman Returns XMen and MK came out with me in 1992
