- This is a general aviation flight from Raleigh, NC (KRDU) to Manassas, VA (KHEF) at sunset into evening in a Cessna C310Q 1974.
Flight profile is available for viewing at : flightaware.com/live/flight/N... - Auta a dopravní prostředky
That is the absolute best time to fly. The day is ending, you have daylight to preflight and start the flight while ending with a night landing. It's like dessert after a steak dinner. Nothing beats flying at the end of the day.
I agree and thanks for watching, Stay safe!!
I love flying had only one small plane flight and love it trying to get my weight down and health issues but praying one day i can get my license
That landing was like spreading butter on bread ......smooth !!!!!!
This was fun to watch. I live under the flight path near Petersburg. Maybe I'll see your craft flying over my house one day. Can't wait to have my own much smaller craft.
Found you from the prebuy interview video. Loved that one and now subscribed for more from you here. Keep it up!
Your videos keep my passion for Aviation alive ..thank you so very much brother.
Thanks for the great ride! I’m 69 and the 310 has been my absolute dream machine since being addicted to Penny and her uncle , you-know-who all those years ago.. I enjoyed this very much. Thanks! Hopefully someday I’ll actually ride in one. My MS Flight Simulator 2020 310R is as close as I’ve ever gotten.
Thanks for watching. Where are you based currently? Would enjoy an airport meeting if possible. Stay safe!! AB
What I would give Art! I’m way up in N NY..5 min from KART. It actually stops snowing up here every once in awhile. Thanks.
I'm an old Navy man too. I have a 1979 PA-32-300 in Linden, NJ. Great videos. Thinking of someday moving to a twin to use in the Caribbean.
Thanks for watching shipmate!! The 310 is a great little airplane and performs well in the role of commuter (JAX-HEF). If you have any questions, please reach out. Stay safe!!
Absolutely love the looks and lines of the 310, please keep the videos coming! Awesome video!
Thanks for the ride along. Although it my opinion that flying after dark is preferable, I have not been up after dark in about 3 years.
Another nice flight and a textbook landing in Manassas,VA. I love night flights with all the lights and scenery. Loved the airport lighting. Approach lights and runway lighting. If you can afford to own your own plane travel becomes much easier and less stressful. Like the cockpit configuration as well. You seem to be a very experienced pilot and handle the 310 very nicely!
Thanks for the ride Captain !!! LOVE the 310 !!!
awesome...love flying..can't afford what you have but well done for you
Great ETA Time & Video ! Nice to watch an expert in action !
Brother You know that I love the Cessna 310 and hopefully one day I can ride with you out of Manassas Airport on a flight. God Bless you and your family

looks so difficult landing at night, well done, booked my first flying lesson ever, can't wait!!
Glad to hear that you are going flying. That is great! As for flying at night, yes more attention is required and practice. But it is another level or serene when flying on a cloudless night. Just wonderful. I look forward to hearing about your flight soon. Stay safe.
Awesome videos, one of my favorite airplanes!!

Love the avionics. I'm about to pull the trigger on a C177 Cardinal. Thanks for another great video!
Absolutely love the Cardinal. My favorite platform and if my mission requirements lessen, will be in a Cardinal again. There are a few Cardinal videos on this channel under "billinga". Here are a couple. czcams.com/video/JEBj-YtFvKQ/video.html and czcams.com/video/3Z2pLU5EgL0/video.html Thanks for watching and stay safe. If I can help with anything, please reach out. Cheers!!
Awesome video, love seeing brothers in the sky!
You know you're a pilot when you stop whatever you're doing to watch a jet land
Yes, guilty. LOL
@Noah Omar me too
very cool. just found your channel after watching your video on airplane ownership costs.
Thank you and thanks for watching. Please look through the catalogue of videos and locations. Hope you find them interesting. Stay safe!!

I am considering buying my first aircraft thank you for the information on the maintenance video I am now subscribed will follow you God bless
Nice idea, liked it very much.
Fantastic video..
Greetings from the UK.Thanks for posting. I don't fly but this is as close as I can get.
Thank you for watching!!
Excellent landing Art! As a prior USAF pilot, I have been wanting to buy an airplane for quite some time, I was thinking of a Bellanca Viking, but now I really like the Cessna 310. Thank you for your great videos.
Robert, thank you for the comment and for watching. I still question the utility of these videos but if folks like them, I will continue to post. I am available to answer questions as you move toward a decision As for the C310, I have thoroughly enjoyed owning this platform. If you have not seen this interview, please watch for my perspective czcams.com/video/5mO23NYMt_I/video.html
The first down select was based on useful load and performance. That left the Baron, C-210 and the C-310. Then came the analysis of purchase price and maintenance costs. There are some nuances involved in comparing Centurian(C-210), Baron (B-55/58) and the Songbird (C-310). A comparably equipped Baron in the same/similar year as a Songbird was hard to find/compare at that time. My purchase budget dictated a look at 1972-1976 for model review. However, because the Baron has been in continuous production, it gets a plus in maintenance. The downselect for the Baron came because of the cockpit arrangement. I am just not a fan.
For my new role/mission, the choice came down to the Centuarian(c-210) or the Songbird (C-310). Given the market at the time, late model 210s and 310Rs were trading at a premium(>$120K). While maintenace costs are considerably more for a twin than single, the useful load, slightly better performance (310Q) and system redundancy(safety) were worth the difference. I settled on the 310Q as my desired platform to fulfill my flying needs and budget(
I like this guy! He is too cool!
I liked the video, thanks
Enough flat screens to make a King Air jealous...
Super, excellent video
Thanks for sharing.
Yes, don't worry, I'm already a subscriber. Take care my brother. .. and keep flying!!
wow now i see why flat panels are better you can see the instruments better at dusk and night flying
I like your cockpit setup
Hi Arthur, I'm an engineer from Raleigh and really appreciate your videos. You seem like a high quality human. Safe travels.
Thank you and thanks for watching. I am an engineer also (EE and CPE) and appreciate the compliment. Are you currently residing in the RDU area? Stay safe.
Thanks for the reply. I went to NCSU Mechanical and Aerospace engineering (thus the MAE). I am still in Raleigh and have been my whole life. I went through hurricane Fran on my 20th birthday and have been prepping for Florence for several days now. Doesn't look good. Have a wonderful day and continued success and favorable tail winds.
Beautiful.
growing up in northern ireland in the troubles.. i made a mass of my life my fault.... health to enjoy class love it
Will you connect the audio to the headset so we can hear you communicate with the the tower and just the radio in general! It would make watching your videos a little more entertaining.
Equipment failure is way not included. Thanks for watching!!
Excellent!
When I worked at the flightschool out of tac air i saw your plane parked there quite abit. I also flew that Archer 181fa next to your plane all the time. Now im working for a company flying jets off on the corporate hangers right next to that ramp.
Excellent, I was based at KHEF for 3 years and now use APP when in town. Hope to see you there. Thanks for watching the stay safe.
Thanks!!
Not much of a twin guy but much respect to you and your videos. Stay safe, tailwinds to you always from a fellow Floridian!
Thanks for watching. Where are you based?
48X is a few miles from my house. I'm on the west coast side of Florida
Excellent, I hope to drop in and catch up sometime. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to hear of new videos. Stay safe!!
You too, already did! :-) I will be at SNF and OSH. I love Aviation when I have the time to put into it.
roshard30 hi guys I'm in Miami and I'm looking to purchase my first aircraft what can I buy for under 40k
Cool deal! Thanks!
Love your videos would love to hear the atc audio with them. Would enjoy flying with u one day
Thanks for watching and please see another of the videos. Those from 2017 and 2018 have ATC. czcams.com/video/gwUeic_MPZI/video.html and czcams.com/video/XTfbHENENYk/video.html are a couple. Stay safe!!
I'm not a pilot but I enjoyed this. Thanks
Thank you and if you like, please subscribe to know of future video releases
"Great video".
That airplane is just about what I have wanted for a personal aircraft: A 310Q with a simple panel and all the Garmin goodies! Is that an AOA indicator forward of the glareshield?
Yes it is an early AOA representation. Airspeed only correlation but stills works. Thanks for working!!
Love your videos for someone that knows nothing about flying I wish I could hear you talk to air traffic control so we can get more understanding or what's going on
Thanks for watching and please check out some of the other videos on this channel, with ATC. Stay safe!!
I did thank for everything great work
Super ;)
Squeak, squeak,... squeak. Nice landing ! On takeoff, did you happen to have your camera clamped to the top of the front passenger seat ? That's the same rattle that's in my last video with my cam on the top of the pax seat and I'm trying to isolate it. Great video !
Great video. One day I wish I could be doing the same. Maybe if my wife stops shopping lol
Dominican Omar divorce her and become free as a bird
Totally badass.
Is this your main CZcams page? I live in Jacksonville and came across a cost breakdown to own an airplane you did just wanted to make sure im following the right page sir. Thanks.
Would you like some company on a flight, I’m in the Manassas area. Great videos .
Nobody seems to mention, what the cost would be to us these airports like Manassas, etc.? Would appreciate to know...Tks..
There are no landing fees for Manassas. The overnight costs are $20. That is it. Thanks for watching!!
Pretty cool, I love the 310, but need audio to talk about the systems and avionics package. Still get a thumbs up, that is in my check list.
Thanks for watching and please view some of the more than 200 videos on this channel "billinga" for other views and ATC calls. Also cockpit review here czcams.com/video/1Ly9FOgSqpc/video.html and recent ATC here czcams.com/video/p15IqZst7FA/video.html
I didn't see 3 green on the landing gear.
It was on saw horses
Good job is that rolly durham i thought the airpor near manasses was Dulles
Yes from Raleigh to Manassas, thanks for watching. Stay Safe!!
10 year Navy AM2. Miss my birds for sure. Wish I could fly!

Many thanks to both of you for your service to the BEST country EVER!!
Would enjoy hearing you interact with ATC
Thank you for watching. Please visit the channel under CZcams "billinga" for all of the more than 300 videos and the last 100 are ATC. Stay safe!! czcams.com/video/dr3DoR3IhKI/video.html&l=
Beautiful airplane! How difficult is it to work in the SFRA as a general aviation pilot?
Thanks for watching. The rules for operating in the SFRA are similar to VFR Flight following or IFR. There is a predetermined route of flight and an assigned transponder code. Thats it. Call up tower, hand off to departure and exit. FAA publishes lots of details to cover what if. Go to the FAA site and get the information, take the informal test and you are ready. Stay safe!!
What’s it cost for a plan you fly and what’s the specs? Thx
Shaun, here is an interview where costs are explored and explained czcams.com/video/5mO23NYMt_I/video.html
Love your videos, hope to meet you some day, I'm here in Florida as well, Tampa Bay. I have a question, which model 310 has the long nose? Or is it a particular year?
The R-models (1975-1978) have the long nose and -520 engines. Thanks for watching and will be down in Tampa for Sun N Fun. Perhaps we could meet during this event. Stop by General Aviation News and ask for me. Cheers!!
billinga Yes Sir, I'll buy the coffee because I have a laundry list of questions about the 310, Cheers!
Here is a video on owning the 310. czcams.com/video/5mO23NYMt_I/video.html And I am happy to help with questions and thoughts on general aviation and the 310.

billinga Thank you Sir!
Absolutely terrifying 😨😨😨😨😨
Nice Ride Art... Did you mention "New Interior" Soon?
No but adding second Aspen unit this spring Sun n Fun. Thanks for watching and fly safe, my friend.
Great video
How’s the 400 AP working
Currently the STEC 30A is not working well and basically hand flying. Less convenient but building more piloting skills along the way. THanks for watching!!
Sir, please stay right where you are! We are sending out the Men in Black to your location. We noticed in your video that at least 2 times you went through a "transferal hyperdymensic speed warp". Everything around you sped up, one woman was walking so fast that her jeans caught on fire and another was eating a burger and missed her mouth completely! Aliens Sir, it's Aliens!
Always love your Videos. .but not seeing you use check list..you probably know the AC lvery well..but have to encourage the use of the check list as part of routine..but wonderful video
Agree, not always filmed but used. Kept on co pilot seat with pre- post- flight info (CRAFT). Thanks for watching and for feedback. I welcome both.
Agreed, the safest, most professional pilots, keep emergencies in memory then revert to checklists, and everything else is a checklist, no matter if you could fly the plane blind. It's the ones that rely on memory that aren't alive anymore or very, very lucky, to share their flights. Always use your checklists. Because the one time you miss one item, it maybe your last.
Did you rent or do you own? I'm deciding on where to own.
I own an use for business. A video on ownership is here --> czcams.com/video/5mO23NYMt_I/video.html
We want ATC audio
Thanks for watching and please search for "billinga" on CZcams for ATC videos like czcams.com/video/YKDzylJprjk/video.html and czcams.com/video/UboPUyFitHw/video.html
Would love to hear you talking to ATC.
Thanks for watching. Please see the other videos on this channel "billinga" with ATC. Here is an example. czcams.com/video/YKDzylJprjk/video.html
You need to port your mic into the video so we can hear the ATC chatter.
Yes, more audio added in later videos. Please see more videos on the channel "billinga" czcams.com/video/Ywqf2bXQRgo/video.html
No narration? What good is this?
...ldg lights on while taxing?
This plane has landing and taxi lights. During daytime ops, taxi lights sometimes to signal marshalls of communications received.
@@billinga hey great video capt, it just got my attention. do you mean ldg and taxi lights in one switch? thanks
@@MachTuck Thanks for watching. In this 310, the lights are on separate switches , one for landing and another for taxi. Stay safe!!
Bill: haven't seen you in months on youtube; hope everything is okay with u. regards, drrex
Hi, Things are going well. Although plane is down for maintenance. Quite a few items to address and hopefully back in the air by December. Until then, flying the dreaded airlines (LOL). Thanks for checking and stay safe. (Arthur Billingsley). Cheers
@@billinga Thanks for the reply Arthur. Anxious, as you are, to see you flying the 310 again. One question: what year is your 310 and how many hours on the airframe? I believe you just overhauled or replaced the engines this year. All the best, drrex
@@rexdagostino6954 Drex, C310 is 1974 with 4825 on the airframe and 1520 on both engines. Engines are still strong and I employ Mike Busch approach to overhaul. Compressions are low 70s and engines use 1 quart per 8 hours, no metal in filters, and spectral analysis remains consistent. So probably another 2-3 years on these motors. Glad to assist,
Watch those PAPI’s.
You need to talk to us. Please
???, was this for Arthur??
Good video. I saw the cost of ownership video. 60-75k a yr. Ouch!!!! You must get paid $130-150k a yr at your job, to own and maintain this. Not to mention a mi,Italy retirement check of probably $45-55k/yr.
Was the cost of ownership video PreBuy Guys? For the Cessna C310, flying 100 hours per year, fixed costs approx $16,700 and variable costs of $12,000 for a total of $28,700 all in. This is a higher than average cost across the current surveyed C310 fleet. Owners and operators make adjustments to lower these incurred costs. Actual costs could be lower depending on owner assist annual maintenance. At any rate, not cheap but can be managed when used in the operation of a business. Stay safe and thanks for watching.
I gotta ask. Who pays for the airplane. You personally or the ministry? If you then you are doing a great service for the church, if the ministry then I assume they are ok with all the costs involved because they are
substantial. I find it difficult to believe that flying a twin as far as you do, would be less than flying commercially. I know many ministries have one, two or even three jet aircraft available for use and that a few train the minister on how to fly them. But to say they are more economic than flying commercially? I do t know about that. But. It's the ministries responsibility t be the steward of their own finances.
Interesting question and I and others have addressed this as it relates to general aviation. In short, general aviation has an advantage in small/mid markets and less and 500 miles distance. Read this piece on page 50 and tell me your thoughts. www.cessnaflyer.org/magazine/online-magazines/2023-online-magazines/item/download/513_a8ec6732e653710a1296f01a8d9aadd0.html
What happens if you have to take a shit!?
You wait or clean it up LOL
Jist watching your video but I Don't have any ability to ride on an airplane. I did not touch airplane even bt from childhood I dreamed I will fly like bird with my plane. Bt I am poor, I shouldn’t dream.
Thanks for watching! Where are you located? US?
My path to flying started as a dream also. A far away dream with no pathway in mind.
No narration, no R/T. Gets very monotonous. Your earlier video on owning and maintaining was much better and interesting. Regards....Noonray
