Jason and claire need to have their own food review channel. They're good at it. Especially claire, very expressive, on point and she's always smiling.
I love how Claire describes each dish and the flavors that she experience. Lucy, I love how your Dad is so honest with what he doesn’t like but very brave in trying. He’s great in walking us through the process trying each dish. They should create their own channel.
I am a filipina based in Bournemouth UK, south west of England for almost 20 years. I just wanted to drop by and let you know how incredibly happy I am watching your vlogs in the Philippines. The way you showcase the best of the Philippines, from its beautiful sights to its delicious food and amazing people, truly makes me want to go back home. I have to say, your dad and Clare are absolutely amazing people. I thoroughly enjoy their food reviews and the way they describe the flavors and textures. It's like I can almost taste the dishes through their words! They can be food vloggers! 😊 And let's not forget about Koda! He is such a cute and happy boy, always bringing a smile to my face whenever he appears in your vlogs such a good boy you raised him well exposed in filipino culture. Thank you for sharing your adventures and experiences with us. Please take care and keep those vlogs coming. I can't wait to see more! Xx
They really are good ambassadors (George and Lucy) for Philippine tourism. I've never been so proud being born here and having a foreigner makes me see the beauty of our home, starting just from little things. Thanks to them.
Since you love tapsilog, I'd love to share my grandmother's tapa recipe, which has been in our family for over a century. Simply mix two tablespoons of sea salt or rock salt with a tablespoon of granulated sugar, and black pepper powder to taste, then massage that into one kilo of beef (I prefer to use sirloin) that you've sliced into strips. Let the beef absorb the marinade for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator before you fry it in a very hot skillet to your desired doneness. Serve this with garlic fried rice and sunny side-up eggs. You can also batch-marinate your beef so you can simply fry up what you want. Like most meats, beef tapa tastes better the longer it has to absorb the marinade.
I liked very much that you as a family have become more of an ambassador of Filipino cuisine for Britain and the British people. I live in the UK and I’m Filipino and missing so much our food and how it’s cooked to perfection which I hope you continue show to the world how good Filipino food is as it’s always underrated and recreated/wrongly recreated by people/chefs from other countries. I love your videos, keep it going. I’m sure you brighten up the lives of Pinoys living abroad. God bless xx
bibingka and puto bumbong are actually traditionally served during Christmas season especially after attending simbang gabi (literally translated to night mass). Usually bibingka would have salted eggs but now it is readily available in different versions. the scent of those delicacies and of the early hours of the morning is very very nostlagic
I am sure when your dad and stepmom are back in UK, they would always be talking of their beautiful experiences in the Phil...the scenic beaches they’ve been, the friendly people they’ve met, and, of course, the delicious foods they’ve tried.
I love how Jason explains how things taste! And love how Claire closes her eyes when she tastes something make sure she focuses on the flavours. Yes, they better start their own channel doing food reviews in Asia!
Lucy’s love for Filipino food is amazing despite she may have mispronounced the word silog but even at this point her excitement of Filipino food implying the word still makes her a true Filipina at heart
Koda was so well behaved throughout that long breakfast. Kudos to his parents! Nice that Jason and Claire are so open to different flavors. Jason will make a good restaurant critic. God bless!
most Filipino food is intended to be eaten with rice, which is why the dishes on their own are seasoned strongly. The rice balance or softens the strong flavors. Tip: if the dish is too salty/sour/sweet/spicy, just add more rice to your spoon to water down the strong flavor.
Actually, each of you describes all the food so well and on point!!! Thanks to Lucy's dad and stepmom for simply appreciating just everything about the Philippines!!! We will miss you guys!!!
Your dad and stepmom are the best…I’m going to miss seeing them in the vlogs …safe travels for them..they are so good on camera…I’m so glad you all have had such fun…❤
I'm Filipino American and my best friend from elementary school was white and my family fed her Kaldereta and Itlog and she went home and told her Mom and Dad, "I want beef stew and rice! Greggy's parents fed me beef stew for breakfast." bahaha
Seeing them both smiling everytime watching vlogs just like catching up pilipino humor the confidence they have now are trully testament and they believe life is better here.
Great JOB Lucy and George, the way you entertained your Dad and Claire was a very Filipino way, you act now like Filipino people in heart and I am proud of you Lucy and George for introducing it to your Dad and Claire in regards to your life- Style in the Philippines for the past years you lived in my country. Even the places to visit; like Coron and Boracay, they have a good time. I always waited to see your video on how your trip and vacation experience with your Dad and Claire. Yes, the Filipino foods; were always Savory because everything, are fresh from the ocean, trees, and butcher houses; not like both the USA and UK countries, everything is always frozen meat. I miss the Philipppines. LIving in the USA is not as fun as in the Philippines.
Lucy's Dad and Claire really savored the Pilipino Cuisine that they tasted so far. And Claire tops the Tapsilog and Sinigang (Sour Soup), wherein TasteAtlas International voted it as the Best Sour Soup. KUDOS to you Lucy and George, you're both such a Darling to them. They will never forget that wonderful experiences they had in the Philippines.
Good choice of resto for pinoy food. SILOG meals are the way for pinoy breakfast because of the "SI" and the "LOG" --- SI for SINANGAG or fried rice, usually the left over rice from last night's dinner; with the LOG short for ITLOG or the egg any way you want it over easy, well done or scrambled! SILOG paired with any type of meat beef, pork, chicken, fish, etc. All time favorite, Pinoy all day breakfast! I love the way Lucy's dad express it "Tasty!", Claire's "Lovely!... What's not to love!"
I just love to hear how Jason and Claire describe their first experience and review of Filipino breakfast! Koda is just adorable! I will definitely check Manam next time I am in Makati and BGC. Enjoy your last days together in the Philippines ❤
Thank you George and Lucy for your impressive showcase of Filipino cuisines. You are fabulous with your parents indulged in a unique cultural tasting of Filipino-Asian dishes .
Jason is a cautious foodie and Claire is quite the opposite - the daring go-getter. What a dynamic duo! If they'd have their own food/travel channel, let us know ASAP please. I'll subscribe to that too. 😂
Jason has a way with words in describing food... "Hmmm. the tastes come in waves, and the texture... hmmmm". Make your own food vlog, Jason. I'll be your first subscriber.
I love watching these videos of you guys bringing and introducing Filipino culture and places to your parents. Hope they had so much fun in the Philippines! ❤
A silog is any meal with fried rice and egg. Si - first syllable of SInangag (fried rice) Log - last syllable of itLOG (egg) Add the first syllable of the protein to complete the name of the meal. e.g. tapa (tapsilog), longganisa (longsilog), tocino (tosilog), bangus (bangsilog), chicken (chicksilog)
Glad you all enjoy the meal, but just want add, Filipinos don't normally eat sinigang and crispy pata for breakfast. Well, maybe if there's leftover crispy pata from the previous day or sinigang for lunch was cooked and served too early, then it's possible 😂 They are usually eaten for lunch or dinner because they are time consuming to make for breakfast. Also crispy pata much like lechon is quite expensive to be eaten for breakfast or daily. It's mostly reserved during special occassions or when dining out with friends and relatives. Maybe you mistook or misread 'sinigang' (sour stew) with 'sinangag' (fried rice). Silog meals comes with sinangag. Silog meal for breakfast is quite heavy so it can also be considered as brunch. Another typical breakfast on the lighter side is with freshley baked pandesal bought from the neighborhood panederia or bakery. Typical middle-class Filipinos usually pair our breakfast meal with a hot warm drink like: coffee, cocoa, salabat, and choco drink or milk for the kiddos. Very rare we have shakes for breakfast. Sometines with a silog meal, we just have it with plain water. Filipino kids also love hotdogs for breakfast. It's the red sausage you see at the local grocery store or market. Adults love them too that's why there's hotsilog too (hotdog+fried rice+egg). Silog meals are popular that's why some food places offer them throughout the day and not just for breakfast.
Don’t forget the Brit parents on vacation and just like any or most of us on vacation, we have to indulge or why go at all - Keep it up and thanks for promoting Philippine tourism indirectly -
Lucy & George has now become culinary experts in describing array of breakfast food from taste to textures & tried by Lucys parents. This is absolutely strange to their taste which quiet unique that they have their experienced. Overall i think it is very tasty experince for both of them.Specially the Chumparrado Yummy
My 5 year old son have a speech delay issue and I am so surprised that he suddenly say "ummm, very nice! that's fresh!" when he appreciates the food that he's eating! And yes, because your Dad and Clare was keep saying these words so he adapted it as well! 😂😂😂
I'm going to miss watching these series of videos with your family experiencing things for the first time. You two and the little one are great ambassadors of this country.
I like tapa! I like tocino. I like longganisa. Lucy knows a lot about Philippine food. Amazing to have somebody who knows the food in the Philippines, especially for foreigners. I love Claire. Nice stepmom. Nice being with your Dad. The fish is usually separated from the champorado. Either you eat it with or without the fish. Enjoy!
I’ve really enjoyed this series with your dad and stepmom here and sad to see them leave. My favorite thing about traveling to other countries is trying different foods and flavors.
Lucy’s dad kept on saying that the meat in the Philippines are more tastier than UK or let’s say to any other western countries because the meat that were serve in restaurants are fresh not frozen.
I've been to different countries, but I would say Asian countries has good flavor full meat especially in the Philippines, the beef from Batangas can surpassed the taste of imported meat and the pork is very tender and full of juicyness even the seafood in the Philippines are export quality because it's fresh abundant
The analysis of the cuisine is great in this video! This could easily be a show dedicated to food! and its making me miss filipino food so much and making me super hungry too!!!! (British born Filipino here)
You guys can be the Korean Englishman of the Philippines! You should check out their business model, especially from the first few years. You can quite literally make a career out of bringing your family and friends to the Philippines, and touring them around 😊
Its funny to see how your folks enjoyed the Pinoy food sooo much !!! Yet they didnt seem to gain a single pound ?? Ha ha ha…. You guys are good hosts to your visitors ….they i think enjoyed this vacation over all !!!!!! Thumbs up !!!!! Very Nice and kind parents !!!!
Depending on the cook, champorado can be made with coconut milk instead of milk. Anyway, interesting to watch your parents taste different Filipino cuisines for the first time. I'm glad they loved most of it, if not all, but I'm sure nothing beats the mango.

Hi to Coda. He has grown intelligent and handsome toddler. Yummy energy breakfast for typical Filipino to face a hard day work. Great vid. I don't eat anymore. I just eat oat meal.

Shout out to other foreiner vlogger make you own videos. Bu the way its nice to hear how you pronouce the filipino food that hou like😅
Yes it's a soup, (arroz caldo is a spanish word) in English, chicken rice soup. The meats and fish in the Philippines are more tastier because they are fresh.
Manam is top tier. Lucy knows what the best is. Few more things I think they should have tried: 1) Bacolod-level Chicken Inasal (there's one in Makati. Erwan Heussaf's favorite) 2) Balay Dako (Tagaytay) 3) Yellow Cab Pizza 4) Mango Float
Thank you for highlighting Filipino b'fast dishes- my favorites! I agree with the comments that Jason and Claire should start a food vlog; they describe flavors, textures, palate sensations so well- I think I've found my foodie tribe! 😄Nothing like exploring the world through one's tummy! Mabuhay!

The way Lucy and George explained the dishes, they're like locals 🥲 So proud of you two and thank you for promoting Philippines ❤
Koda is such a good boy! He is not high maintenance. He knows how to entertain himself. And never saw him throw a tantrum! Sweet boy indeed
I love how Claire describes each dish and the flavors that she experience. Lucy, I love how your Dad is so honest with what he doesn’t like but very brave in trying. He’s great in walking us through the process trying each dish. They should create their own channel.

Claire's got the Filipino way on point with the garlic rice and longganisa combo. 😁
